The backup cam just for you

Designed specifically for select 2013-up Ram vehicles, this Crux RVCCH-75DC rear-view camera system allows you to integrate backup video into your factory radio. The package includes the CH-75D rear-view camera, an interface and harness that connect to the factory radio, and a power/signal cable that you'll route from the camera to the front of your car.

Once installed, you'll see a generous, well-lit picture of what's behind you, with a 170-degree wide view and video capture down to 0.2 Lux for night driving. Crux also gives you the option to enable on-screen parking assist lines so you can gauge distance more easily.

NOTE: The Crux RVCCH-75DC backup camera system is compatible with the Uconnect radio with 8.4” screen, the Uconnect radio with 5” screen and 6-button/2 knob interface, and the Uconnect radio with 4.3” screen and 6-button/2 knob interface. This system is NOT compatible with diesel models or those with factory-installed cargo cameras.

Installing this camera yourself? Here's what you should know.

What does it do? Unless otherwise noted, a backup camera is only intended for use backing up your vehicle. (If you require a front-view or constant rear-view camera, check for that capability.)

What tools and supplies will I need? A panel tool, a wire cutter/stripper, a soldering iron, and a rosin-core solder with heat shrink tubing are recommended, along with whatever tools are needed to remove the radio from the dash.

How much wiring is required? Wiring instructions vary from camera to camera. Some cameras have power wiring that can only be connected near the radio. Others let you power the camera at compatible reverse lights. In all cases, the camera must be wired for power and ground, the camera's video output must be connected to the radio/monitor, and the radio/monitor must be connected to a reverse trigger in your vehicle. Some radio replacement interfaces supply a reverse trigger wire for the radio -- using that wire to power your camera will damage the interface.

Will the included video cable be long enough? You'll need to route the camera's video cable from its mounting location outside your vehicle into your vehicle's cabin and all the way to the screen in the dash. This often requires drilling a small hole in your vehicle or filing some metal and or plastic. You'll also need to estimate the length of cable needed to run from the camera to the dash, which will not be a straight shot. Each camera's cable length is listed.

More details on the Crux RVCCH-75DC Backup Camera System

Product Research

Features

Sightline Series Rear-View Camera System: The Sightline series RVCCH-75DC rear-view camera system by Crux has been specifically designed for select Dodge Ram trucks that are equipped with a U-Connect factory radio. Now you can use your vehicle's factory radio to see what's behind you when backing up. The RVCCH-75DC comes with an interface module and the necessary harnesses and cables to connect the rear-view camera to your vehicle's factory system.

Note: The RVCCH-75DC rear-view camera system is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

Vehicle Compatibility: The Sightline series RVCCH-75DC rear-view camera system is compatible with the following Dodge Ram trucks that feature a U-Connect factory radio with 8.4" screen with separate knobs, 5" screen with 6-buttons and separate knobs, or 4.3" screen with 6-buttons and separate knobs.

Make Model Year
Dodge Ram 1500/2500/3500 2013-2017

Notes:

  • Not compatible with diesel powered vehicles.

  • This camera will not work in RAM trucks equipped with the factory installed cargo camera.

  • Factory radio must be a "MYGIG" radio.

Automatic Rear-View Switching: The RVCCH-75DC features automatic rear-view switching. This means that when you place your vehicle in reverse gear, your factory radio's monitor will automatically switch over to the rear-view camera so you can see what's behind you immediately.

Park Assist Lines: The rear-view camera provides parking assist lines on the screen of your vehicle's in-dash factory radio. These parking lines are there to assist you when backing up into a parking space. There are two vertical lines which help you judge the left and right edges of the parking space and your vehicle. There are also 3 color-coded horizontal lines that are used to distinguish how close you are getting to the end of the parking spot - Yellow (Clear), Purple (Getting Close), Red (Very Close).

Note: You can turn off the parking assist lines by cutting white wire loop of the back-up camera cable.

Replacement Handle Assembly: The RVCCH-75DC's rear-view camera flush mounts in the included bracket/handle assembly. This custom-designed mounting bracket and handle assembly replaces the factory handle of your truck's tailgate. First you will need to remove the factory handle from the tailgate and then install the bracket/handle assembly in place of it. You'll also need to drill a 18.5mm (5/8") hole behind the rear-view camera in order to route the wires and cables.

Power/Ground & Signal Connections: The rear-view camera features an attached 19" power/signal cable which plugs into the included 20' composite video cable and the 46" power/ground cable. The composite video cable then plugs into the include vehicle harness. The vehicle harness plugs into the RVCCH-75DC's interface module and your vehicle's factory radio.

Installation Note: Because of the cables attached to the tailgate, you will need to disconnect and reconnect the camera each time you remove/re-attach the tailgate.

Q
Will it work with an aftermarket radio?
norman  Apr 09, 2019
3 answers
A
Yes... I just replaced my radio after installing this with the factory radio... however you don't need the factory harness interface that comes with this kit. So it might be better to find something else cheaper.
justin  Apr 11, 2019
A
Yes works like a charm
juan  Apr 09, 2019
A
Not sure. If the aftermarket radio uses factory style connections and display it probably would work. There's no way to know short of testing it.
tim  Apr 09, 2019
Q
can i replace the tail gate camers with a diffrent camers. I have cap with intergrated doors so the tail gate is not available?
mark  Dec 24, 2018
1 answer
A
Hey Mark. I'm not sure I fully understand your question. Are you interested in using the Crux RVCCH-75DC Backup Camera System but swapping out the camera that comes included? Or are you wanting a different camera that also works with the stock screen but mounts in a different location? If you can provide some more details about the vehicle and what kind of setup you are hoping for we can let you know what options we have. Q
Will this also work with aftermarket radio?
arthur  Jul 18, 2018
1 answer
A
Not sure. I have an aftermarket sound system that it didn't affect at all, but my head unit is all stock. If the wiring harness behind the radio wasn't changed, then i would think it should work

Q
Do the guidelines move like the factory ones?
william  Jun 26, 2018

A
No, they were stationary on my system.
chad  Jun 28, 2018
A
The guidelines don't move. They stay straight. I love this kit though. It works great.
matthew  Jun 27, 2018
A
No they don't move or bend they are straight. I find it easier when hooking up to my horse trailer. The last line is exactly where my hitch ball is so I know how far to back up. Hope this helps.
melissa  Jun 26, 2018
A
No. They are fixed.
richard  Jun 26, 2018
A
The guidelines do not move
bobby  Jun 26, 2018

No. The guidelines are steady.

Q
Does the camera require programing form a dealer to make it work?
lloyd  Apr 16, 2018
5 answers
A
No it does not as long as you have a RA2 radio or newer
christian  May 12, 2018
A
You do not need a dealer to Intall it. But we did call the help line for troubleshooting issues. Once we understood what had to be done it was fine works great.
melissa  May 04, 2018
A
It does not require any programming changes to the vehicle. I installed mine, followed the directions and it has worked flawlessly for years. Bought it to assist in trailer hook ups but find I use it often in parking lots and tight quarters when backing up.
david s  May 04, 2018
A
Not at all. There is a module that plus into the back of the radio/stereo that has dip switches to select a couple of possible options. Other than that it is totally plug and play.
james  May 04, 2018
A
No nothing need from the dealer on my Dodge Ram
bobby  May 04, 2018
Q
Does this tailgate handle in any way interfere with the existing electronic tailgate lock/unlock function?
don  Apr 02, 2018
13 answers
A
Hi Don, I installed this camera in my 2014 1500 RAM and have had no issues to report the rear tailgate lock is fully functional as is the camera. Great product.
fred  Apr 05, 2018
A
The lock/unlock function worked as normal on my 2014 Ram. The hardest part of the install was finding a place to run the camera cable into the cab. I also had to find a good place to attach the ground for the camera. Attaching it to the metal of the tailgate did not work for me. I ended up running another ground into the tailgate from the chassis. After doing this the camera has been absolutely flawless.
james  Apr 02, 2018
A
Nope. You unbolt the stock one and the new tailgate handle with camera fits right in. Looks and feels just like the stick handle. The camera module that plugs into the stereo is a pain though. And the install directions that are sent with suck.
adam  Apr 02, 2018
A
The tail gate handle fit's and looks like a factory component.
guillermo  Apr 02, 2018
A
Not at all. The replacement handle is the same as the factory handle with the addition of the camera. The locking mechanism is on a different wiring harness.
william  Apr 02, 2018
A
Nope. I have a 2017 ram it works as manufacturers specifications. The lock mechanism stays on. It's a cover for it with a camera and wires. Has nothing to do with the lock. Hope this helps
melissa  Apr 02, 2018
A
No
steve  Apr 02, 2018
A
No it plugs right up. You will need to switch the old lock cylinder from the old handle to the new one. Very easy.
jeremy  Apr 02, 2018
A
No, I installed it according to the instructions and haven't had any problems with the electronic lock/unlock.
gregory  Apr 02, 2018
A
I installed mine on a 2016 Ram 2500. It works seamlessly with the truck. No issues with the lock & unlock function.
clayton  Apr 02, 2018
A
No functions just like factory
bobby  Apr 02, 2018
A
The new handle works the same as the factory equipment. The tailgate lock functions normally. Just follow the instructions and you will be fine.
david s  Apr 02, 2018
A
No the latch is mechanical and set up the same way as the OEM handle. I rod inside the tailgate moves the latch.

Q
Is the handle that comes with this as solid as the original handle that it replaces? Does it feel flimsy or cheap?
scott  Apr 03, 2017
3 answers
A
It looks and operates like the factory handle no issues with mine at all.
gregory  Apr 04, 2017
A
It doesn't seem flimsy to me. I've had it on my truck for about a year now and haven't had any issues, although I don't use my truck as heavily as some people might. I never even think about it not being the original handle, if that helps.
allen  Apr 04, 2017
A
The same as oe original
