Installing an aftermarket receiver in many late model GM vehicles means losing the chime that warns the door is open, along with audible safety warnings. The Crux SOCGM-17 GM Class II Data Bus interface lets you replace the factory receiver in these vehicles and keep the door chime and all audible safety warnings.
Connect the SOCGM-17 to the wiring harness on your new car stereo, mount the module in a convenient location, and plug it into the existing factory plug. Get the great sound you want, and keep all important safety features intact. This interface does not work with GM's Premium Bose® systems or Onstar®, and it won't allow you to keep your factory steering wheel audio controls. It will work with the standard Bose system. Warranty: 1 year.
Important Note: If you do not use an interface like this when you replace your factory radio, you will disable the audible warning system in your vehicle. Crutchfield cannot provide a free wiring harness for your vehicle, and we strongly recommend that you use the recommended interface when replacing this vehicle's factory radio. Failure to do so may result in serious injury or death.
Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so. You can also call an Advisor for more information.
This replaced my old door tones. My told tones were not working so now they are back loud and clear.
The install was very easy. color codes match the factory exactly, just match and crimp, works well.
Pros: Wire colors match exactly for crimping, Just remember to do the blue/white remote wire ... it was needed for my Impala to produce any sound at all.
Cons: the chime is probably a bit too quiet..which actually is a plus for me, but not the person I installed it for.
Didn't need anything more elaborate on my wife's base Trailblazer.
Pros: Does everything it needs to do. Easy to install.
The interface cable was easy to terminated to the stereo wiring.
very easy to use
I used this wiring harness in two different car receivers. I had it installed by a car stereo shop both times. The ignition wire was faulty, and my radios would often not turn off when I exited the car. The chime module was also a big problem with this harness. It occasionally caused my headlights to turn off when driving, and my parking lights to come instead. This is a big safety hazard and I recommend everyone to spend their money elsewhere. I bought the Axxess GMOS-01 02-Up Onstar Harness Adapter with Chime on a different online retailer's website instead, sadly it's not on Crutchfield. I had this wiring harness installed in my last car (and now this car) and have had zero problems with it.
I contacted CRUX looking for a replacement radio harness, because it is under a one year warranty. It has been two months and they still haven't gotten back to me. This kind of customer service is ridiculous. I hope that if you buy this product that you won't have the same problems I did, because CRUX won't help you with them.
Pros: It works fairly well
Cons: Safety hazard Ignition wire is faulty Negligent customer service
Someone hacked into my 2003 Trailblazer and did a sloppy stereo install and this made the chimes work again, once I cleaned up the mess.
Pros: Makes the chimes work again
This was an exact fit as expected. The chimes sound just like the factory chimes. This was essential to installing the replacement radio. The local big box store offered a similar unit at twice the price.
Pros: easy installation
It works. The plug that fit into the back of my pioneer was supplied, but had to be spliced, and there were no instructions to ensure I was doing it right. Yes, it is straightforward, but I did buy with the expectation there would be clear instructions on how to do it.
Cons: Instructions not helpful at all
Works as advertised and significantly cheaper than other stores
Pros: easy to install
Does what its supposed to. Nice to not have to cut factory harness
Easy and worked great. Nice soft bell/ding tone.
Worked great in my 2002 Chevy Cavalier. No issues.
This was hooked up easily enough, but it is very large for having to be installed in such a tiny space. Also, the door chimes continue to sound long after the key has been removed from the ignition.
Pros: Easy to connect.
Cons: Too big and chimes seem to be erratic.
Easiest install ive ever done and works perfectly. No extra acc lines its all there in the harness. 03 trailblazer was gtg in 45min start to finish.
Pros: Everything plus excellent service if you have questions about anything at all!
Every thing worked just as the instructions say
Pros: Very easy to install
unit worked well with 2004 Avalanche. plug for unit had a loose power wire that drove me crazy till I found it and repaired it.
Pros: worked well with Avalanche
Cons: loose wire on plug
Worked exactly like it was supposed to. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars was the antenna adapter was not included with the wiring harness, so that meant an untimely, and unwanted, trip to wally world.
Pros: Works like a charm
Cons: No antenna adapter
it works and it is simple to in stall
Pros: it works
Cons: none here it works
I installed this unit and it works great. Our 2006 Chevy Trailblazer has OnStar but we don't use it. This unit allows the It to bypass the OnStar but allows the door chimes and vehicle alerts to operate correctly. So if you use OnStar don't install this item.
Pros: Easy to connect and it works great
This product is as advertised. A friend and I installed this with my Pioneer head unit and everything worked wonderfully. As you already know I'm sure, if you don't have the correct wiring harness for the Chevy Cavalier (mine is a 2002) the vehicles electronics, and lights won't work. The use of this harness has assured everything works efficiently and factory. I would definitely recommend this to those who want to retain a proper working vehicle without the hassle.
Pros: Color Coded for easy installation.
I received it rather quickly and everything was correct within the shipment. Couldn't be happier!
This item was perfect. All of the wires are long enough to make great connections with. The chime is loud enough to hear with my stereo's volume up. My package came was delivered on time.
Pros: Good quality. Good price.
Cons: No cons
Colors match up perfectly! All you need is maybe 30 minutes, butt splices, crimps, strippers and you will be ready to install your new radio!
Pros: Ease of install and matching color to color!
Cons: no problems here!
I searched everywhere for this product and found it here and had It in no time . I drive a 2003 chevy avalanche and could not find this part anywhere else once it came in I not only got the part but a wiring diagram that came in much needed use and even a magazine that I plan on buying stuff from in the future ... bottom line this company had the products you need no matter what!
Easy to connect with the color coded wires and overall a good product.
Pros: Color coded wiring was easy to understand.
Cons: Chime could be a little louder, dings longer than it needs to, had to cut part of the plastic insert in the car in order to fit everything.
Worked exactly as stated
Cons: It's a little quoted and sounds different
Great product great price. Fit great in my trailblazer.
This interface delivered everything that it was described to do. The ease of wiring it to the radio was not even a challenge. The functions and, response really impressed me, allowing the same actions as the original equipment. I have used Crutchfield for many years and the dependency has never wavered or failed. Outstanding products. If someone want to replace or repair electronics in their car, I truly advise them to contact Crutchfield for information, and items that are cost friendly, easy to install, with total satisfaction. Awesome
Pros: Easy to follow instructions and guides. Color coded wiring to match the original equipment wiring, which makes it almost impossible to connect anything incorrectly. The interface matches the the vehicle connections perfectly.
Cons: Could not find any!
I was pleasantly surprised to find out how easy this harness was to use. All the wire colors matched up identically to the harness on my JVC stereo. Wires were pre-stripped, and easy to identify. My only complaint is that the chime is not very loud - but this may just be because I did not mount it within direct ear-shot. I left it in the space behind the stereo.
Pros: Ease of install - worth the price!
Cons: Chime could be a little louder
Cutchfield set me up with this for my stereo replacement.
Pros: Woks like it should not real loud
Had no issues with connections and worked as expected.
Pretty easy. And all the chimes work
Pros: Nothing extra to wire with the chime box
Cons: a lot of extra wiring. Make sure you have the dash space
I bought this wire harness to put a new radio into a 2002 Malibu. It works just fine and the crutchfield team was really helpful.
Cons: Rather expensive for a few wires. The box is quiet. Requires you to do some splicing.
Total junk if you have a GMC Canyon don't buy this , tech support is great but this is not compatible to my truck the first one I purchased would not work properly my dash lights would come on and if I turned truck off and took the key out and opened my door the radio would stay on , had to disconnect battery to turn off radio, not fun. Round 2 - called tech support they replaced the unit figured the crux box was the issue sent a new one , I RR the boxes and this one, same result ,not happy
Cons: Not compatible to my vehicle, if you're looking at this product, call tech support and ask questions before you buy
Asked the Crutchfield Sales associate for the least expensive solution but good product in stock. He recommended this product and it works just FINE. No issues, No Problems...Fit The Bill
Pros: Easy Installation
Easy to install and easy to adapt to radio.
Everything worked like it says
Perfect for the installation of the aftermarket stereo I HAD to install in my daughters car. Very easy instructions to understand.
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: Finding a place to secure under dash
Easy to use, plug and play. It could be a bit louder though. The box is inside the dash and is a bit muffled.
Great product but, three of the wires were out of place and had to be move in order for it to work.
Pros: Great connections
Cons: Three of the wire in the harness where out of place for my application.
Door chimes work as before, easy as pie to install
Pros: easy, relatively inexpensive
The installation was a breeze and the customer service lady was professional and she was able to help me, She knew enough about the installation to get me thru some questions I had.
Pros: color to color make up and almost everything else just plugged in to each other.
Cons: some of the colors of the stereo harness were had to determine the colors.
All the wires matched up Perfectly. the color code was spot on and the interface unit works perfectly. Installed this unit in an 06 Chevy Trailblazer with a Kenwood KDBT558U radio.
Pros: Matched up perfectly
excellent harness assembly works perfect with my 2003 Chevy Malibu
Pros: excellent quality... perfect length and design. everything snaps together perfect and the customer service support with any questions I had was nothing less than outstanding!!!
Simple to install. Works as advertised. What more do you need?
Pros: Easy to install
Worked out perfectly for my 07 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
Pros: Right fit
Cons: Nothing wrong with it
Installed in my 2004 Oldsmobile Alero with a new stereo unit. All the chimes still audible thanks to this and it was fairly easy for me to install. One call to Crutchfield (Just a couple minutes total, first and only person that answered me was extremely helpful and had my problem figured out in about a minute)
Pros: Easy to follow wiring, EXTREMELY helpful people at Crutchfield for troubleshooting
Pros: ease of use
really easy to install, works great and does everything its supposed to
easy install, just plug and go. attached to back of cavity. No problems. The version that I tossed out with the old Sony unit that was in my SUV when I bought it was just an open circuit board wrapped in electrical tape! It had also shorted out, which gave me the opportunity to replace it with a Bluetooth enabled unit with iPod controls.
Pros: works as promised.
I installed this product on a 2007 Chevy 2500hd Classic. Works well, the chime is loud enough for my taste. Maybe a little quieter than factory. Easy to install and easy to find a place to put it. On my truck I put it right behind the instrument cluster to the right side. Straight forward installation and I would highly recommend this product for any Chevy aftermarket stereo installation. Retained accessory power works great too.
Pros: Easy to install, enough harness length to put it in a good spot and loud enough for me. Works just as advertised.
Cons: Amp remote on wire is included in harness. No factory amp in my truck so I had to cut that wire and splice it to my head unit. No big deal though.
Easy to install. Adds a lot of wires making it hard to fit in console
Pros: Loud and easy to hook up
Cons: Adds lots of wires to hide
Works great, easy to install!
The first unit didn't work. Crutchfield sent a replacement. Didn't work either. Crutchfield then sent me an Axxess GMRC-01 for the same price. Come to find out, there was a hinky little problem with my factory harness with one of the pins being in the wrong location.
Pros: Crutchfield customer service and tech advisors.
Cons: Didn't work. However, it may very well be my trucks fault. Never heard it ding or anything. At least the GMRC-01 dinged.
Worked as advertised - easy installation too.
Pros: works like factory
This made the install work great. I don't have a problem with how loud it is like other reviews.
Pros: Easy to install.
Easy harness to hook up.
Had to install this module so the vehicles alert system would still work. No mater where I put the speaker it is so quite I cannot hear it over the vehicle running. It is very quite... If there is another option that could be swapped in to make the sounds go through the speakers like the factory stereo did that would be more desirable.
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: Cant hear it!Crutchfield response on April 9, 2014 Our tech support team contacted the customer to troubleshoot the situation and offer a different adapter.
It does work and that matters a lot but When I installed this in my trailblazer, The wires were not long enough to allow good placement so it is inside the dash and it is hard to hear sometimes. I wish I would have bought a better one.
Pros: It allowed me to install my new Alpine!
Cons: Short wires and its not very loud.
This is pretty easy to install; not really any more difficult to connect than a plain wiring harness. You basically connect it the same way. There's only two things I would change about this. I would make it a little smaller so it's easier to fit behind the receiver, and I would make it louder. The latter issue being more of an issue the the former, but it's still better than no sound at all.
Pros: Easy to install; no different than connecting any other wiring harness
Cons: A little difficult to get to fit behind the receiver; not all that loud
Worked for me. Soldered same color to color and plugged it in.
Made instal a snap and retained all factory chimes
Pros: Very easy instal
very simple install just match the colors and done. it is a little on the quiet side but I can get past that because I like to turn up my music with my door open so that dinging sound would be really annoying if it was any louder.
Pros: Simple install.
The integration adaptor exactly replaces the key warning system of the 2004 Chevy truck. There is no difficulty with wiring or placement. Just snap a 6 wire harness into the small adaptor box and strap it to the new radio with 2 plastic slip ties. Takes 2 minutes.
Pros: Easy to install and an exact replacement for the OEM key warning system. Crutchfield sells it for 1/2 price. Check the price at other retailers and you will agree.
They product worked great and matched the CD Receiver that I ordered.
Made hook up simple. Has great instructions. Makes wiring neat and simple.
This is a great product to help with the door chimes and other factory chimes. I was easy installation and worked well.
this item just makes it so much easier to replace General Motors radios you are able to wire everything pretty much and your house or shop you don't have to wire it under the dash it's all taken care of before hand and you just plug in play definitely recommended this item if you have A General Motors or Chevy vehicle.
Pros: Everything about it makes the job easier!
This product made the install very easy and fast. I tucked it up behind the stereo so the chimes weren't as loud after reading other reviews about how loud it was. Perfect volume level, just enough to hear it. Having not to run the red power wire back to the fuse box or splice it in somewhere else makes it easy to install the radio.
Pros: Easy install, keeps warning chimes, red power wire for radio
Cons: that you need to have this, bad design of wiring harness from auto maker
does what it is supposed to
Pros: it works
Very easy to use. Wiring was a breeze.
Pros: Able to hear warnings through it.
Cons: could be louder
Would not install the radio without it. Allows me to keep the door chimes and other factory chimes.
Pros: Easy to wire in.
It's unfortunate that Chevy made this adapter necessary. Nothing Crutchfield can do about that though. The install was stupid easy and it's working like a charm. The alarm sounds are slightly softer than factory, but I prefer it. The Crutchfield adviser was very helpful and knowledgeable.
Pros: Works Alarm tones are easily audible but soft and not shrieking
Cons: Only that it's a requirement
Nice and easy to install in my Trailblazer. Keeps the chimes working and paired nicely with the factory harness and the harness from my Pioneer head unit.
Pros: cheap and simple
This adapter was easy to setup and install in my 05 Chevy Colorado. I did all the wiring matchups previous to going and installing and the actual installation only took about 20 minutes in 25 degree weather. The unit did exactly what it was supposed to and the system is working flawlessly
Pros: Easy setup and installation Replaces the factory bus and all systems working on the truck Though low, the chimes are easily audible and not intrusive at all
Cons: none I can think of
Excellent perfect fit
Pros: A great replacement for original equipment
Great product! Adapter was very easy to wire to factory harness. Wires were labeled with easy-to-find color coating. It's a must buy!
Pros: Fits 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer No On-Star, No Bose. Easy to connect, and chime sounds are easily heard from factory connection.
Cons: Great Product with no cons.
Over priced and too quiet, but it does what it should..
I bought my wife a car stereo two years ago for Christmas. I had a heck of a time finding the right connectors needed because GM likes to run everything through the stereo. Her birthday was earlier this month and I needed to install that stereo. Crutchfield got me set up right! The adapter was easy to wire up to the stereo harness and it works like a charm! My wife is very happy and so am I. The quality is good, and the chime sounds just like the factory one.
Pros: Good price, easy to install, good quality
Painless to install.
Pros: Ease of installation
Cons: Price a little high I thought
Easy to install, but the chime isn't loud enough
Pros: Easy install
Cons: Chime needs to be louder / better quality
so far so good, I took it to an installer. better than splicing wires and was able to keep my state of the art door chime : ).
Pros: x on the box? : )
Installation with this harness was quick and spot on! Easy to solder the wiring to the harness from the stereo I bought.
Pros: Color coded wiring and instructions easy to do!
It makes integrating your aftermarket stereo into you're vehicle seem as though it's an oem stereo. I retained all factory warnings and chimes with ease.
Pros: Easy too attach/install
Easily hooks up from a new aftermarket radio into a Chevrolet wiring harness. It keeps the chimes working that are normally controlled through the factory radio.
Pros: Easy hook-up
Cons: The fact that I need it in the first place.
Wiring harness was very easy to use. Color coding was very similar to the stock Chevy wiring harness.
Pros: EZ to use
Worked great eazy to install
Pros: Easy to install sounds like factory chime
Wires matched right up, worked like a charm
Pros: Everything about it
was helpful to install my new head unit in my chevy silverado 2500 still lets me here my warning bells
Easy to install and does the job
Pros: Easy to install and does the job
Well worth it. Would recommend
Pros: Easy Install
I bought this for my radio install in an '05 Avalanche, said it would keep the chimes and it did great price too.
Pros: Easy install, wires clearly labeled.
This is a necessary item to retain warning chimes, and the manufacturer knows it, therefore keeps the price high and makes big profits.
Pros: Easy enough to install
Cons: Doesn't play though speakers so it's much quieter than the stock unit. Can barely hear if stereo is playing. Door chimes quit after a few seconds, factory unit kept on until you shut the door. You can't really call this a direct replacement for stock unit.
Great product. Made connecting a non-factory radio a breeze. Highly recommend.
This product does what it claims to do - it makes my Silverado play door chimes, seat belt warnings, etc., with an aftermarket receiver. It was easy to install and fit right behind my dash easily.
Pros: Easy to install, works great
Very easy to install. Provides vehicle chimes as advertised.
This interface works as it should in my 2004 GMC Yukon SLE. Make sure you mount it to something secure. At first I had it velcroed to the AC duct in my dash and it was buzzing as it chimed. I readjusted it and it sounds fine. Sounds very similar to the factory door chime.
Pros: Works as it should
Cons: The fact that I need one at all is annoying. Thanks GM!
Helped immensely with he install.
Pros: Chicks dig me now!
Cons: I should have done it sooner and I would not have had to take my sister to prom.
Unfortunately with a lot of GM cars this is a needed part. First I think this is crazy to pay this much for an adapter to be able to upgrade a stereo but a big thank you to Crutchfield for having it half off if bought with a stereo. That said, this item installs easily and without issue.
Pros: Easy install
Cons: Price and it being a must have.
Was very easy to install
Pros: All wires matched up
Easy enough to wire up. good instructions , Makes adding an aftermarket unit to a new vehicle just as easy as it was in the 80's while keeping all the functions working as they should .
Pros: Keeps the door chime chiming when it should, keeps the stereo on after key is removed until the, door is opened just like with stock unit did
Cons: Chime seems quieter than stock , may be the location where i placed the unit
I own a 2004 Chevy Classic (Malibu). The CRUX SOCGM-17 integration adaptor installed very easily. I just attached the wires as I would on a normal adapter. All of the wires are properly color coded for the connection. The chimes on the adapter all work and at a volume perhaps slightly software than the factory chimes, but quite audible. The chime box has mounting holes for screws but there were a couple of "pockets" of space behind the stereo where I was able to just set it without having to mount it. Installation was very smooth and quick.
Pros: Very easy to adapt and install. Chimes work as desired and expected.
Cons: (None come to mind)
Works great. I have all my chimes and was very surprised at the sound considering the factory chime comes through the speakers. Very simple to install.
Pros: Easy to install. Doesn't sound cheap.
Cons: None so far.
WOW did this make the install easy
It goes ding when it is supposed to.
I replaced my factory GMC (without Onstar) double din with a IVE-W535HD. Wanted to keep my chimes for safety reasons. I have used many wiring harnesses over the years and was a bit skeptical looking at it online. Out the box, it looked like it was constructed well. Everything was soldered and shrink wrapped. The wires going to the speaker box seemed a bit short and I was afraid that the chime would be too faint installed behind the stereo and dash. I figured I could extend the wires and place the speaker box elsewhere if I had to. I installed the harness as normal and was able to point the speaker box toward the dash where light was coming through. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL! I can barely tell the difference and I have owned the truck for 7 years. I highly recommend this product. Having the chimes after an after market install is a huge safety feature!
Pros: Easy to install.
super easy to install, must have this item or no warranty through crutchfield. gives all the factory chimes
Pros: ease of install, cheaper price than any audio store locally
I used this item to install my new Sony Stereo in my Chevrolet Colorado. All was wired as directed and when I plugged it in to my harness and tried the chimes, FOOF and a bunch of smoke came out of the box. Crutchfield replaced it except I paid about more and got the metra gmrc 01. I am just glad it did not take out my trucks computer. Just F.Y. I, The Metra worked Great.
Pros: If it had not blown up, I would have most likely had no problem with it.
Cons: It blew up.
Got it in the mail and it did not work had to return, don't buy for a Cadillac Seville with onstar
Cons: Did not work for my vehicle
recommended by crutchfield advisor, simple self installation, performs perfectly, great product!
I got this when I ordered my stereo from Crutchfield. I put this in an 09 Trailblazer. The instructions that came with it were easy to follow, and I had no problem hooking it up. When everything was installed, my chimes were still working though they will be coming through his box. Sitting in the vehicle, when I turn off the ignition and take out the key, the radio still runs til I open the door, just like the old one did.
the warning chimes (the reason this thing is installed) are weak ,
Pros: weak sound
Cons: gotta have it
Great item. It has done exactly what it is supposed to do without a problem
Pros: Loud enough and easy too install
Cons: None at this time
It easy to install (the installation instruction are easy to follow), and with it is possible to keep the Factory functions, it work great.
It does the job it was intended for. Plugs in easily and good wiring color codes.
Pros: easy peasy
Great accessory for adapting an aftermarket head unit. Works as advertised.
Pros: Works great
Worked as promised. Just plugged it in and I had all the features I did with the stock radio installed.
Pros: Easy as 1, 2, 3.
I installed this into an 2008 Chevy Trail blazer w/o Bose/Onstar. It installed very nicely and works just like the stock chime just a little quieter.
Pros: Retains Factory warning chimes, Compact enough to fit behind radio, and price is great.
All of the adapters, along with Crutchfield's instructions and excellent customer service, make for a very easy yet custom installation.
Works well, plug and play installation. The chimes could definition be louder, though.
Quick install works great also
Pros: Plug it in it works
Very good product. Worked out perfect for me. Very good instructions and easy to follow. I chose to solder all wires. That takes some time to do but was worth it to me. After installed everything worked as expected. ..RonH
Pros: Great product, Easy to install, Reasonable price
Cons: Nothing negitive to say. It simply works very well
Love the way it brings my door chime and keeps the Pioneer deck powered until the door is opened. Needed for aftermarket CD decks. Buy it!
Pros: Factory components retention
Fantastic product easy to install, And you cant tell its not the factory chime. Saves all factory warning chimes. All around great AAA+++
Cons: Easy Install, Fast and simple, Compact fits anywhere.
Easy to install, just sucks to have to pay for a bell
This adapter does exactly as advertised: provides the harness for plugging into an aftermarket receiver while retaining the warming chimes.
Pros: - Wiring harness makes receiver installation easy - Small enough to tuck inside the dashboard near the receiver
A good way to preserve the factory chime in your non-onstar GM vehicle. The install was straight forward & it worked just as it was supposed to.
Pros: Not too bulky to tuck in the dash cavity. The cost was less than that of other options.
Cons: The chime actually comes out of a speaker in the interface itself; not through the factory speakers. When tucked in the dash it is audible, but a little muffled.
It works great no problems at all
Quick shipping easy install
it is all about matching up which crutchfield representives make it happen like i felt THEY GUIDED ME TO GET THE JOB DONE 100% THANKS FELLORS
Pros: FANTASTIC MATCH
Cons: FANTASTIC MATCH
The price was great, the installation into the wiring system was a snap but two things that kept this from being a 5. One was trying to find a place to mount this in the 2005 Chevy Colorado. I finally was able to place heavy duty velcro and mount it inside the lower part of the dash. The second was the chime is quiet which is not a big deal but some people may not like it or might not hear it.
Pros: Price and installing it into the factory wiring system.
Cons: A place to mount it and the chime was quiet
Great Product easy install
Plug and play. Simple installation.
Pros: Ding ding ding ding.
Cons: Unfortunately, ding ding ding ding.
Works beautifully and was an easy install, functions as well as stock chimes and sounds.
Pros: Readily available item that was shipped fast.
It's a good product. A little softer tones than the factory system but still works fine.
Pros: Easy to install
Installed this in 2006 Chevy Colo.-color to color splicing and works great/ I don't hear any difference in the way the chimes and signals sound and work.
Pros: easy install-chimes not to loud and half off with the head.
Cons: could have used a short piece of stickyback tape to mount it with. Fortunatly I had some.
easy to hook up and works great
Works and sounds exactly the same as factory sound chimes
The adapter was very easy to install. I just wired the supplied adapter to the heat units harness (all of the color coded wires were the same) and then plugged in the newly wired assembly to the vehicles factory head unit harness. The build quality seems adequate. Plus, the packaging states that its made in the USA, which is always a plus.
Pros: Simple installation and wiring instructions. Made in the USA
Cons: The chime could be a little louder for my taste.
Easy to use and affordable
Pros: Great value and easy install
Got this for my 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix w/ base stereo (no bose, no steering controls, etc) My car was listed on the box as compatible vehicle. Didn't work. The bad: It would work for 5 minutes? 30 minutes? 1 minute? then all of my instruments would shut off. Sometimes they would come back on in 30 seconds, sometimes they wouldn't come back unless I restarted the car.
I called the CRUX telephone support number on the instructions and the guy was great. He sent me a replacement unit with updated software so I pulled everything out, reinstalled with the new unit, same problem. Called him back.. and he sent me another unit, but a different model (SWRGM-48) Install that one... works perfect.
The good... CRUX customer service. Sent me parts till it worked then a prepaid label to return everything I didnt use. Sure I had to install my new stereo three times and drive around for a couple weeks with no gauges, but works great now and I'm happy so I can't knock the product, just didn't get the correct one for my car initially. I'm probably the only clown putting a stereo into a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix anyway!
Got this when I replaced the stereo in my 2008 trailblazer. Does exactly what it's suppose to do. Keep all of your chimes (door, low fuel, seat belt) and has the same feature as the stock unit to play the radio for 15-20 minutes and cut off automatically or cut off when you open the door. Chimes aren't quite as loud but still audible. Not a bad price when you pair it with a new stereo. Easy install.
Pros: Low cost when paired with an aftermarket stereo, does what it says it will
Work really well
Pros: Cheapest Option Really easy to install
CJ was great and the product was easy to install.thank you
Works perfect for my 01 Impala. Was cheaper then the other option and the beep isn't loud dude to me hiding it behind the dash.
I agree with Andrew's review below. I originally ordered the Metra unit, first one did not work, second one did not make it out of the package in one piece. The Crux unit worked right the first time. Chimes not nearly as loud at Metra. Help desk expressed shipped the unit after seeing previous issues with the Metra units.
Pros: EZ install, good tone/volume of chimes.
Did what is was supposed to do.
very hard to find the right radio harness for our o5 colorado crew cab z71. i was not 100% sure this would be right for it but they insured it was and sure enough my cd player works great. this site knows its stuff. as for the product it is very good. sound from the chimer is loud enough but not if you stash it in the dash like i did. then its only noticable if no noise around. this product is meant for placement somewhere out side of the dash. in which case it is loud enough. as for fitting and easy to install, 5 stars. it fit perfectly our truck doesnt have onstar or bose.
Pros: easy install, great instructions, aloud everything to work correctly
Cons: chimer is ment to be installed outside of dash somewhere. isnt loud enough to be installed inside dash
I picked out a new head unit an was told by the Cruchfield team I needed this to keep the factory Safty features Intact - worked great easy to install
Pros: Cheap price and works great , easy to install - plugs right in line
Went right in without any problems. New chimes sound very close to old ones. It just costs a lot at $60.
Pros: easy installation, very close to original door chimes, volume not too high
Having used both this and Metra's version on two GM cars, I would definitely recommend the Crux over the Metra. The Crux's chime is a reasonable volume (didn't have to wrap tape to muffle the sound), the chime sounds pleasant (compared with the metra's horrendous dinging) and it didnt fall apart in my hands like the metra. Both of them arent cheap, but you really do want to maintain your chimes so you don't leave your lights on, etc.
Pros: Pleasant chime, does its job.
Cons: Seems to chime a little longer than before now, but that isn't a big deal.
Installation was a snap. I connected the few wires i needed from the aftermarket radio( i ran a dedicated amp for highs and lows) to the adapter in just a few minutes. I installed the speaker just to the right of my gauge cluster and the loudness is close to factory imo.
Pros: Simple installation and instructions. Keeps the factory saftey "dinging" reminders and rap feature (radio stays on after key is removed until door is open or 15 minutes).
It works but has poor quality. Sound is very low and can barely be heard.
Cons: very low sound level.
Very easy to use. Works simply and efficiently
No issues with the installation. Alarms are just a bit quieter and expected, but no problems hearing them.
Very easy to install. I chose this one, because the more expensive one every review said it was too loud. This one you can hear, and I did not have to adjust. I used this on a 2003 Silverado, a definite must have for installation. It was even easier than the plug only style that we used to use.
Pros: Easy, easy, easy. Cheaper that the other one.
Cons: You have to have it, unless you like cutting and splicing you factory harness.
It's pretty much fool proof just match the wires with the stereo wires, solder or crimp them together and plug it in to the factory connection
Pros: Easy to install
The interface worked fine. The alarm sounds are slightly different, but it is clearly heard. The supplied wiring harness made installation a snape. There was not any need for seperate wiring (power or ground) all connections went through the harness.
Pros: Easy to install with supplied wiring harness Retains factory alarm sounds (door open, lights on, etc.)
Cons: Sound is not identical to the factor sound

I personally did not have to use a relay. I was able to follow the directions in the manual. I also was installing a basic alpine headunit rather than a DVD unit. Sorry I was not much help but I hope everything works out with little complications! [ ANDREW Jul 15, 2014 ]

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The CRUX SOCGM-17 is going to tie the radio into the current factory configuration. This means that it will cover turning the radio on for when the car is turned on. You shouldn't have to bypass anything. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy Mar 25, 2014 ] Staff
The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have.
