Note: Two vehicle harnesses (Quadlock or ISO) are included with the interface; you will only use one of these harnesses based on your type of vehicle.

Steering Wheel Control Retention: The CRUX SWRBM-57 also features a steering wheel control output for Pioneer, Sony, Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, JVC, Jensen, Dual/Axxera, Boss and other aftermarket head units. The steering wheel control output consists of a right-angle 3.5mm connector and a light blue/yellow wire (use the connection that your aftermarket head unit is fitted with).  The SWRBM-57 interface module will work with any of the listed aftermarket head units, by setting its three dip-switches (see owner's manual for appropriate setting).

Note: The steering wheel control harness features two 4-pin connectors (labeled - Pioneer/Sony and Alpine/Clarion/Kenwood/JVC). You will only plug in one of these connectors to the interface module, based on the type aftermarket head unit you are installing.

Navigation Outputs: The CRUX SWRBM-57 radio replacement interface module provides a VSS (vehicle speed sense) and a Reverse Gear output to make installing an aftermarket Navigation radio simpler and less time consuming.

Amp Turn-On: The CRUX SWRBM-57 provides an amplifier turn-on lead for your vehicle's factory analog amplifiers (if equipped). This adapter is not compatible with vehicles that feature fiber-optic, digital amplifiers.

Q
I have a 2002 CLK 320. Will this work for replacing the head unit and keeping the factory amp and steering wheel controls?
ravidgecko  May 08, 2023

A
This harness can work in some 2002 Mercedes CLK 320's, Raul. This works in models with Bose, and without factory navigation. We need to know the specific details of your exact vehicle to provide any confirmed fit. Use our handy Vehicle Guide in the link below to enter your ride's specific details and trim level. We will list all the radios that fit and pair with the install gear we have available. This harness does NOT retain any factory Bose amp and does bypass it. It appears that all harnesses we have for your vehicle if you have the premium Bose will not retain the factory amp. I hope this helps!

Q
I have a 2002 Mercedes E320 sedan without GPS head unit. Time to replace it! I want to maintain the use of original BOSE amp and speakers. The connection from the head unit to the amp is via fiber optics. I have not found any adapters that will work with the digital amp. Suggestions?

Greetings Paul, and thank you for your question. We have been offering a standard analog wire adapter for the 2002 E320 for a number of years now, and still do. I checked our database for your E320 and saw nothing mentioning fiber optic from the radio to the amp. This Crux SWRBM-57 is the recommended wire adapter for your vehicle.

Q
Is this harness compatible with Alpine CDE-SXM145BT to be installed in a 02 C320 Mercedes? Has a Bose system not sure of fiber optics?

In my 2000 E320 my system was all factory with me changing the head unit. The harness worked with everything except the steering wheel controls. The controls have never worked. The speakers are Bose.
tollef  May 21, 2022
A
I don't know for sure. You will need to remove the head unit and see if it has the fiber optic connector on the back.

I plan to replace my factory stereo with Sony XAV-AX150 in a 2006 Mercedes Benz CLS 500 with Harman Kardon. Will this work?

Hey, Alvin!! Bill here, in Greensboro, NC. I used the wiring harness you are looking at from Crutchfield in my 2001 E320; the original radio and multi-cd player needed upgrade, and I wanted to keep steering wheel button operation. If your CLS has similar wiring, you should be good with this harness. All the normal functions (vol up/down, preset up/down) work as they should. I had a local shop do the install-just ran out of time-and they reported no issues. Good luck!

Everything fit great in my application...BUT! There are different kinds of factory stereos in the MB E300's of that year. Make sure you know what you have and order the right stuff.

The system recommended for my '02 e320 worked flawlessly when I replaced the factory set up.

Hi I used that harness for my 2000 MB E55 and it work for my car. Not sure for SL500. Crutchfield rep helped me greatly and really worked on me the whole time. So far the issue i'm having is the Clock not working, meaning I can't change it using my dash control and also the steering control. Hope I helped in some ways Thanks, joey

Q
Does this fit 2005 Mercedes Benz c230 with Harmon kardon with amp?
jacob  Apr 12, 2019

A
It does work in those vehicles as long as they also came without factory installed navigation. It does not integrate to the stock amp so that needs to be bypassed by running new speaker wire My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Paul
