Savor the sweet sounds of vinyl
For an outstanding listening experience, give Pro-Ject's RM-5.1 SE a spin. Turntables like this demonstrate why audiophiles remain so enthusiastic about analog sound. Precise construction and careful attention to design and materials allow this player to retrieve ear-opening layers of sonic detail from the grooves of your favorite albums. Its striking appearance and high-gloss piano lacquer finish make this 'table look every bit as good as it sounds.
Features that focus on performance
The RM 5.1SE's unusual teardrop-shaped MDF chassis does more than just look cool it also resists vibrations that can smear sonic detail. The 'table rests on three height-adjustable damped aluminum cones that further reduce noise, while also making leveling easier. The heavy MDF platter spins on a precision stainless steel axle and Teflon bearing plate for rock-steady speed accuracy. An integrated vinyl mat and supplied record clamp ensure that your records are tightly coupled to the platter which really improves playback of warped records. An external AC power supply reduces the chance of hum, and can even be upgraded with Pro-Ject's ultra-precise Speed Box II. The RM-5.1 SE's advanced carbon fiber tonearm boasts rigid, one-piece construction with precision Swiss bearings for ultra-low friction and superior cartridge control. Pro-Ject also includes a pre-mounted Sumiko Blue Point No.2 phono cartridge, a longtime bang-for-the-buck favorite with audiophiles.
Get superb sound, without the hassle
One of the great things about vinyl records is that they force you to slow down and savor the act of listening. But Pro-Ject's RM-5.1 SE won't slow you down much, because of its hassle-free plug 'n' play design. Pro-Ject knows that turntable setup can be a challenge for the novice. That's why this 'table comes out of the box virtually ready to play. Its factory-mounted tonearm and phono cartridge take the guesswork out of getting started, so you can enjoy optimized sound quality with minimal effort. A few minutes to dial in key settings like tracking force, anti-skating, and platter speed are all that's needed to unlock the best sound you've ever heard from your record collection.

Overview: The Pro-Ject RM-1.5 is a manual belt-driven turntable with a fitted MC-cartridge (Sumiko Blue Point No. 2). Its resonance-optimized platter is made from MDF and features and integrated vinyl mat. The platter rests upon an MDF plinth with a suspended motor assembly optimized for low resonance and speed stability. The turntable incorporates a stainless steel axle that runs on a Teflon bearing plate in a bronze housing for lower wow-and-flutter and superior speed accuracy. A fixed headshell and 9" carbon fiber tone-arm with precision Swiss bearings and rigid carbon fiber arm tube provide superior tracking and cartridge control. Three-point aluminum cone feet further reduce noise and vibration.
Belt Driven: A quiet running AC motor with a two-step pulley drives the hub and platter via a flat-ground belt. The RM-1.5 supports 33-1/3 and 45 rpm speeds.
Note: The optional Pro-Ject Speed Box II (252SBIIB, sold separately) can be connected to the turntable to change speeds electronically between 33-1/3 and 45 rpm.
Resonance-Optimized Platter: The 12" resonance-optimized platter is a sandwich construction utilizing the hub, an medium density fiber (MDF) platter, and a screw-down record clamp. The platter's low-tolerance chrome-plated stainless-steel axle runs on a Teflon bearing plate in a sintered bronze bearing housing. A central metal block optimizes center of gravity and dampens main bearing.
MDF Plinth: The medium density fiber (MDF) plinth stands on three height-adjustable rubber-damped aluminum cone feet.
Note: The turntable should be positioned on a low-resonance surface such as wood or multiple layer ply-board to avoid structural vibrations disturbing replay.
Decoupled Motor: The motor is decoupled from the plinth to reduce vibration transmission.
RCA Connection with Grounding Screw: Connection to the phono input of your amplifier can be made with connecting cables of your choice through the turntable's gold-plate stereo RCA phono jacks and grounding screw.
Note: The Pro-Ject turntable comes supplied with a 47" stereo RCA cable with ground wire.
9" Carbon Tone-arm: The RM-1.5 features a 9" carbon tone-arm. The headshell and arm-tube are fashioned from a single piece of carbon-fiber. The conical-shaped arm-tube avoids standing wave reflections. The inverted tone-arm bearing comprises four hardened stainless tips. Rings provide very solid arm bearing housings, while the outside ring is open to avoid resonances. The solid arm-base permits accurate height adjustment of arm-tube and VTA (vertical tracing angle). The Single-screw fixing of the arm-tube allows rotation for easy adjustment of needle azimuth despite the fixed headshell.
MC-Cartridge: The turntable is supplied with a Sumiko Blue Point No. 2 fitted MC-cartridge. The Sumiko Blue Point cartridge offers exceptional performance and musicality. It features a moving coil design, high-output (2.5-mV), alloy cantilever, Blue Point-cut elliptical diamond stylus, and standard 1/2" mounting.
Note: If your amplifier does not have a suitable Phono MC input, you will require a separate phono pre-amplifier (252PBIIB, sold separately) to connect the turntable to your amplifier.
Damped Arm-lift: Silicone-damped arm-lift can be adjusted to suit working height of the arm.
Counterweight: The turntable's design of the counterweight effectively counteracts unwanted resonances. When Counterweight shaft is lowered to record level it reduce cantilever forces and dynamic wow when playing warped records. The counterweight supplied is suitable for cartridges weighing between 0.21-0.35oz (6-10g).
Internal Wiring: The turntable's internal wiring consists of flexible high-purity copper from the headshell right through to the gold-plated phono sockets.
External Power Supply: The RM-1.5 utilizes an external power supply to avoid potential electro-mechanical interference.
