Good for protection
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Inexpensive way to protect lens. I imagine it degrades the picture quality a little, it's just cheap plastic, but honestly I haven't noticed yet. Once it gets scratched a little, I'll probably take it off while in use and just use it as a lens cap between uses(JVC really should provide a way to protect the lens when not in use).
Pros: Low cost protection, 2 in a package, free shipping.
Cons: Certainly not optical quality. Also as far as Crutchfield is concerned, I was dismayed to see this delivered to me in a 6" by 10.5" by 12" box full of packing peanuts, including a paper magazine version of their website and a 3 page(!) invoice. This would have fit in an envelope and cost 49cents to ship, it wouldn't surprise me if they spent the full cost of the item on shipping. Clearly Crutchfield doesn't give a crap about the environment.Crutchfield response on September 8, 2014 Environmental concerns are always on our mind at Crutchfield. The packing peanuts we use are 100% biodegradable! Drop one in a bowl of water and watch it dissolve. They're made up primarily of corn starch, and we make them in our warehouse in big batches, as needed. It's a process we invested in years ago to help protect the environment. Currently, we're exploring ways to make our shipping boxes smaller so that we can better fit shipments of any size, but especially small orders like this.
