Very Important

Written by: JVonD from Boulder, CO on April 11, 2013

There is a delay in the A/V stream making it somewhat useless when using the cam with other/different cams (hardware) when using Wirecast and Ustream Producer. The only way you could possibly use this with Wirecast and expect good A/V sync is when using only these cameras and running the audio into the cam via it's mic jack thus making the A/V sync stream run simultaneously. Don't get me wrong the camera is great! The P/T/Z is amazing and if you don't mind the delay, which JVC says is about 1-5 sec (3sec with direct for me) then it makes a perfect monitoring cam. Wish I could use it but for Wirecast and Ustream Producer there is no way! Retailers should be mentioning this in their specifications to avoid lots of returns. I was your Guinea Pig. Your welcome!

Pros: P/T/Z, Wireless

Cons: Stream Delay

Crutchfield response on April 26, 2013 Thanks for your review! We're glad you enjoyed the camera's quality, and we appreciate your concerns with A/V sync in multi-camera situations. This camera is mainly optimized to do its own compression and streaming preparation for upload to a network like Ustream, and as such is not optimized for being used in an A/V synchronized manner in a multiple camera setup. It's more of a standalone solution for streaming. For the situation you describe, the cameras used should be delivering typical video and audio signals from low-latency DV, HDMI, or SDI terminals, and then switched/encoded through software like Wirecast. Because the JVC GV-LS2 is doing its own encoding, there's a longer period of latency, which might vary depending on the complexity of the video being captured and compressed.
