    DVD Features

Video D/A Converter: The HR-XVC26U uses a 54MHz/10-bit video digital-to-analog converter, which reduces digital artifacts for a better picture.

Audio D/A Converter: This unit has a 192kHz/24-bit audio digital-to-analog converter.

Progressive Scan Output: Progressive-scan video has less flicker and fewer motion artifacts than the traditional interlaced-scanning method, resulting in a superior picture. To take advantage of this feature, you must have a television with component video inputs that supports the progressive scanning mode. The component outputs on this unit can be set to pass either progressive or interlaced video.

MP3 Playback: This unit will play MP3 files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 format. During MP3 playback, you can use the repeat function, but you cannot use resume playback and A-B repeat. Each disc can have a maximum of 99 folders and 150 files per folder.

Note: If you have a disc with MP3 audio files and JPEG picture files, you can choose to play the MP3 files only or JPEG picture files only.

JPEG Disc Playback: This unit will play JPEG files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 format. Baseline JPEG files are supported and Progressive or lossless JPEG files are not supported. Each image must be within the following resolution range: 32 x 32 to 8192 x 7680. The following functions are available during JPEG disc playback: slideshow, zoom, and repeat playback. Each disc can have a maximum of 99 folders and 150 files per folder.

Note: If you have a disc with MP3 audio files and JPEG picture files, you can choose to play the MP3 files only or JPEG picture files only.

3D Phonic Surround Sound: When playing a Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Digital disc, this feature allows you to obtain a surround sound effect from only two speakers. You may select one of the following modes: Action, Drama, or Theater.

Note: This feature only affects the analog audio outputs.

Video Fine Processor (VFP): The VFP function allows you to adjust the picture character according to the type of programming, picture tone, or personal preferences. There are 4 settings:

    • Normal: for watching TV in a room with normal lighting
    • Cinema: for watching a movie in a room with suppressed lighting
    • User 1/User 2: you can adjust parameters that affect the picture character, and store the settings as a user preset. The parameters include:
      • Gamma: if the neutral color is bright or dark (range: -3 to +3)
      • Brightness: if the overall picture is bright or dark (range: -8 to +8)
      • Contrast: if the far and near position is unnatural (range: -7 to +7)
      • Saturation: if the picture is whitish or blackish (range: -7 to +7)
      • Tint: if the flesh tones are unnatural (range: -7 to +7)
      • Sharpness: if the picture is indistinct (range: -8 to +8)

Zoom: The Zoom feature allows you to get an increasingly close-up view of the image. You can choose from six different magnification settings. Once the image is enlarged, you can also move the zoomed image around the screen.

Resume Function: The Resume function allows you to resume playback of a disc from the point where you last stopped. The stopping point is cleared when the Stop button is pressed more than once, disc tray is opened, or the unit is turned off.

Parental Lock Function: You can select a parental control rating from 0-8, which is protected by a 4-digit password.

Super VHS Quasi Playback: This feature allows you to play S-VHS recordings using a standard VHS VCR. When S-VHS recordings are played, they are displayed with standard VHS resolution.

19 micron Heads: The 19 micron heads help to avoid crosstalk and boost EP picture quality to near SP levels.

Auto Clock Set: The time and date can be set automatically using data transmitted over most PBS stations.

Auto Daylight Saving Time: This feature automatically adjusts for daylight saving time. This feature can be turned on or off.

Instant Review: When this button on the remote is pressed, the VCR turns on, rewinds to the beginning of the last recording and starts playback.

Skip Search: This feature allows you to fast forward the tape in 30-second increments each time you press the button. You can press the button a maximum of 6 times, allowing you to advance up to 3 minutes ahead.

Next Function Memory: The Next Function Memory tells the VCR what to do after rewinding is complete. You can choose Automatic Playback Start, Power Off, Timer Standby, or Cassette Ejection After Tape Rewind.

Repeat Play: Using this feature, you can play a video tape up to 100 times.

Timer Recording: You can program the VCR's timer to record up to 8 broadcasts, as far as a year in advance. You can also record programs on a weekly or daily basis.

Instant Timer Recording (ITR): Using Instant Timer Recording, you can record in 30-minute increments up to a maximum of 6 hours.

Auto SP-EP Timer: When selected, the speed on timer recordings automatically switches from SP to EP mode if there is not enough time left on the tape.

    Remote Control

JVC TV Controls: The remote is pre-programmed to fully operate this unit and JVC TVs.

Remote Code Switching: The remote is capable of controlling four JVC VCRs independently. Each of the units can respond to one of four codes (A, B, C, or D).
