JVC JX-S111 Reviews
Average Customer Review:
Excellent Low Cost Component Video Switcher
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
If you looking for a low Cost Component Video Switcher that is easy to use and maintains Very Good signal Qulity then look no further. Our Sony 42" Plasma has only ONE Component Video Input! I used the JVC JX-S111S to connect our Direct TV, Standard DVD Player, and WII Via the Component Video outputs. Everything looks GREAT!!!
The JVC JX-S111 is an excellent, inexpensive choice if you've run out of Hi-def inputs on you HDTV. My Pioneer plasma TV has a separate Media Receiver that I plug the A/V cables into. It keeps my home theater nice and tidy since I don't have cables hanging off of the 50" panel. The downside is that it only has four inputs; three of which are dedicated to Hi-Def signals. The lack of inputs limited my ability to expand my HT system to include multiple gaming systems and a Blu-ray or HD-DVD DVD player. The JX-S111 solved my problem because it has five inputs and one output. Three of the outputs handle Component Video signals while the other two are for S-Video & Composite signals, and the output handles all three signal types. Now one of my Media Receiver's inputs is dedicated to a XBOX360, PS2 Limited Ed., & Sony 300-disc DVD player. The switcher allowed me to free up an HDMI-capable input so I can add a 1080p DVD player later after the Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD format war has been settled. The JX-S111 is passive which is a nice feature if you're worried out maxing out your Monster or Panamax line conditioner. The thin unit can be hidden behind your HT furniture too. Beware that source switching is a manual task. That's a small sacrific considering the value the JX-S111 provides. It's the best $99 I've ever spent!
I'm using this unit to connect 3 DVD players (yes, 3!) to my recently-purchased Sharp HDTV, via a JVC receiver. The DVD players are all connected via the component (RGB) inputs in the back, and output to the sole DVD inputs on the receiver. Even through a switcher like this, the picture on the HDTV is excellent. One small drawback is that only 1 DVD player can utilize the receiver's surround sound; the others' audio is simply stereo, but can be heard from 5 surround speakers. Also, just a pet peeve, but it would be nice if the unit lit up in some fashion, just to compliment all my other components; but one less electrical plug is a fair trade.
Bottom line: the unit does precisely what it's supposed to do, and delivers beautifully.
