Meter: There is a level meter on each end
of the display window. The level meter may be set
to Volume 1, Volume 2, or Off. In Volume 1 mode, the meter gives a graphic
representation of the volume level. In Volume 2 mode, the meter alternates
between Volume 1 mode and illumination display. While making volume, balance and
fader adjustments, the meter gives a graphic representation of the setting.
Control Memory (SCM):
This unit has three preset tone control and loudness setting combinations that
you may select. With the SCM Link turned on, you may link a different sound mode
to each source. Turning off the SCM link lets you use the same mode for all
sources. Each of the sound modes may be adjusted to your preference and stored
in memory. The preset Sound Control Memory modes are:
Bass = +2, Treble = 0, Loudness = On
Bass = +1, Treble = -3, Loudness = Off
Bass = +4, Treble = +1, Loudness = Off
Pressing a source button (CD, FM or AM) turns the unit on and selects the
This model is equipped with JVC's proprietary HS-II tuner. You can set up to 18
FM and 6 AM stations as presets. Presets can be set manually, or automatically
using Strong-station Sequential Memory (SSM). If an FM stereo broadcast is hard
to receive, you can manually switch the tuner to "Mono" operation. Note:
Although it is not discussed in the manual, you can select either U.S.
standard or European tuning spacing.
You can directly access CD tracks 1-12 by pressing the station preset buttons.
If a preset button is pressed for less than 1 second, the track corresponding to
the number on the preset button is selected (for tracks 1-6). When a preset
button is pressed for more than 1 second, the track corresponding to the number
above the preset button is accessed (for tracks 7-12).
Eject Prohibit: This
feature keeps the disc from ejecting even if the eject button is pushed. The
disc eject prohibit feature is engaged/disengaged by pressing the CD and power
buttons simultaneously for more than 2 seconds.
Clock Display: While
playing a CD, you can switch between the clock display and the CD elapsed time
display (the track number always appears). While listening to the radio you can
switch between the clock display and the station frequency display. When you
press the Display button during power off, the unit will turn on, display the
clock for 5 seconds, then shut off. This can be done with the ignition on or
