JVC's KS-IF200 FM modulator converts the audio signal from any outboard source (VCR, DVD, satellite radio tuner, portable MP3, etc.) into an FM signal that plays through your factory radio. Simply connect the audio cable from your outboard unit into the KS-IF200's RCA audio inputs, and use the 3-step level-matching control to match the incoming signal's volume to that of your FM radio.

Connect the modulator's output to your vehicle's antenna lead, tune into an unused FM frequency, and listen to the outboard source through your vehicle's sound system. You can select from 8 different modulation frequencies to find the best possible reception in your area.

Features

Overview: The JVC KS-IF200 is an eight-channel stereo FM modulator with selectable FM frequencies and adjustable output level. It allows the addition of an auxiliary audio source (DVD player, VCP, MP3 player, etc) to any FM radio.

Installation: The modulator can be installed in any hideaway location within cable length. It requires connection to a +12V Power source and chassis ground. The auxiliary source is connected to the RCA input jacks. The antenna interface connects to your vehicle's antenna plug and radio antenna input (antenna adapters required for some vehicles).

Modulation frequencies: You can set the modulator to transmit on 88.1, 88.3, 88.5, 88.7, 88.9, 89.1, 89.3, or 89.5 MHz, whichever is not in use by any local radio stations.

Adjustable Output Level: You can adjust the signal output to a level that works best with your system. If loud passages sound distorted, lower the level control setting accordingly. The setting options are High, Medium, and Low.

Auto Turn On: The modulator can be set to turn on with a remote turn on wire, or turn on when it senses any input.

Specifications:

  • Operating Voltage: 14.4V DC (range 11-16V DC)
  • Maximum Current Consumption: 50mA
  • Operating Frequencies: 88.1-89.5 MHz FM in 200kHz steps
  • Frequency Response: 50-10kHz
  • Fuse Rating (located in fuse/filter box): 3 Amp (blade type)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First of all, I purchased this product so that i could play my iPod through my cd player in my '95 F-150. The cd player is a JVC of course. As far as installation went, no problems at all. I had a little trouble making all my wires and the modulator fit in behind the headunit but it just took a little wiggling for it to work. As far as running the wires I just ran them from a cable that split my iPod headphone wire into left and right outputs. I'd say the installation took just about 20 minutes including getting everything just where I wanted it. The reason I gave a four star rating is because you loose a very small amout of volume. This just means that when you are listening to an iPod or something, you've got to turn the volume up a knotch or two and then turn it down a bit when you turn the device off (the module switches back to the regual FM tuning after about 10 seconds of inactivity from a device). Overall I'd say this product was very worth while because it cost me about half the price of buying a conventional iPod FM transmitter and after looking at my friends FM transmitter, it has much better sound quality (the iPod FM transmitters sometimes loose signal and cut out while on the road). Very pleased, a recommended buy.
