An iPod adapter allows you to connect your iPod to your car stereo, then access your playlists with your stereo's controls - a great idea for several reasons. One, you can scroll through your song titles on your stereo's larger display, instead of squinting down at your iPod. Two, you can route the adapter cable to your glove compartment or center console, so your iPod stays safely out of sight. Three, the iPod adapter keeps your iPod fully charged, so it's ready to rock when you leave your car. And last of all, some adapters bypass your iPod's internal digital-to-analog converter, using your stereo's superior DAC to turn your files back into music. Have a JVC stereo in your car? Now you can use it to bring your whole digital music library with you on the road, thanks to the KS-PD100 iPod adapter. Just plug the adapter box into your stereo's CD changer input, connect your iPod to the system using the included cable, and you're ready to go. The KS-PD100 works with most 2005-up JVC stereos with CD changer controls, allowing you to manage all aspects of iPod playback right from the radio's buttons. You'll be able to scroll through all your playlists, albums, artists, genres, and composers without having to fumble with the iPod's controls. You can even use your JVC remote to control play/stop and track selection. And, since song titles and other file information show up right on the display, it's easy to find the music you want. The KS-PD100 charges your iPod's battery while it's connected, and it's compatible with most Gen 3-up iPods with the dock connection. The iPod itself is disabled while connected, so it's totally controlled by your JVC stereo. Dimensions: 3-5/8"W x 1"H x 3-3/8"D. Warranty: 1 year. Features Overview: This adapter allows an iPod portable digital music player with a dock connector to be hooked up to and controlled by most 2003 or newer JVC receivers that have MP3-compatible CD changer controls and display the following: CD Text, MP3 folder/file names, or ID3 Tag information. All the iPod buttons will be disabled when connected to this adapter and the iPod will be controlled from the JVC receiver. With this interface, you'll be able to play your iPod music files through your JVC receiver and have all the titling information appear on the JVC's display. When this interface is connected to the JVC receiver, you cannot connect a CD changer. The adapter is made for audio file playback only, so it won't pass video signals from video capable iPods. iPod Compatibility: The JVC KS-PD500 iPod control interface is "Made for iPod" compatible and support the following iPod model features (as of Dec. 2009): iPod/iPhone Model Generation Media Type Control Display Charge Audio Video Unit iPod Song/Artist Track dock-connector 3rd Y N Y N Y Y Y click-wheel/olor-display 4th Y N Y N Y Y Y mini 1st Y N Y N Y Y Y 2nd Y N Y N Y Y Y video 5th Y N Y N Y Y Y classic 80GB Y N Y N Y Y Y 120GB Y N Y N Y Y Y 160GB Y N Y N Y Y Y nano 1st Y N Y N Y Y Y 2nd Y N Y N Y Y Y 3rd Y N Y N Y Y Y 4th Y N Y N Y Y adapter required 5th Y N Y N Y Y adapter required touch 1st N N N N N N N 2nd N N N N N N N 3rd N N N N N N N iPhone 2G N N N N N N N 3G N N N N N N N 3GS N N N N N N N Note: The KS-PD100 is not compatible with the iPod touch (1st/2nd gen), iPod nano (4th gen), or iPhone (3G/3GS). Connections: The KS-PD100 has the following connections: Receiver: 59" hardwired cable that connects directly to the JVC head unit; the cable is terminated with a J-Link connector iPod: 53" hardwired cable that connects directly to the iPod; the cable is terminated with a dock connector that is covered by a removable plastic cap Product Reviews Review this product Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences about this product. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't charge the i-Pod. I knew that it didn't charge after researching the product, I think that it would have been rated higher if it were capable of charging the i- Pod. Was this review helpful? Yes | No 4 out of 5 Great Product Written By Ronnie, Austin TX on Saturday, February 28, 2009 Been using the product (with the KD-AHD39) for about a month with an 80 gig ipod classic. Really love it. I have nearly 1200 songs in my "completely random" playlist, which is what I listen to 98% of the time. I drive a taxicab, and usually my customer(s) always end up asking; What station are you listening to? Love the fact the ipod is out of sight, tucked away in the glove box. I'm seriously considering upgrading to the new Alpine iDA-X305. As always, the Crutchfield guys are unexcelled! Was this review helpful? It works flawlessly. Having the display for the IPOD on the headunit is a boone for my old eyes. Not having to use the device on the IPOD to control it is just as nice. I can`t imagine doing without it now that I have used it for a few weeks. It almost makes the cd player obsolete! 1 out of 1 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? No mention of this on the Crutchfield or JVC sales/support pages. JVC said they have tested it only with the iPod and not the other devices. Wish I had made that phone call prior to purchase. (BTW the back of an iTouch says "iPod") 18 out of 25 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 3 out of 5 Easy to use, but no podcasts. Written By Peter, CA on Friday, September 26, 2008 I installed this at the same time I replaced my stock radio. Installation is simple. There are two cables coming out of the box. One plugs into the back of your JVC stereo and the other I tucked into my glove box. The cables are long enough that you could put the iPod anywhere. I hid the box behind the dashboard. It comes with a small piece of double sided tape, but I just wedged it in there. Control is very easy from the radio. The only drawback is that you can't listen to podcasts. It sorts your music by playlist, artist, and album. Moving through multiple artists or albums takes awhile and can be distracting, so I like to set it up before I get moving. Navigation within a playlist is easy. The box charges your iPod whenever the car is on. The only reason you would ever have to disconnect your iPod is if you wanted to sync it to put more music on it. I have an iPod classic, a Nano, and a 3rd generation. It works fine with all of those, but I don't think it works with iPod touch or iPhone. Make sure you read the specs if that's your hardware. Overall I'm very happy with the box. I just wish I could listen to my podcasts. 6 out of 6 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
