Our take on the JVC MX-C55J

JVC's MX-C55J provides a great solution for people who want powerful sound, but don't have a lot of space. Its dual-amplifier design pumps out 500 watts of solid power. One amp sends 80 watts per channel to the woofers and tweeters, while the other powers each of the system's subwoofers with 170 watts. The result is clear mids and highs with enough punch on the bottom end to fill a bedroom or dorm room.

The system's three-disc changer can play audio CDs as well as your MP3 and WMA (Windows® Media Audio) mixes for hours of uninterrupted tunes. An auxiliary input allows you to connect another audio source, such as a portable MP3 player or video game console. You can even listen to music from your computer thanks to the 'C55J's USB port. Three equalizer settings let you tailor the sound to the type of music you're listening to, while three surround modes give you simulated surround effects using just the included stereo speakers.
