Features
Sources: The MX-C55
is equipped with a 3-disc CD changer, an AM/FM tuner, a front-panel stereo mini-jack input for an auxiliary source, and a front-panel USB port for
connecting your computer.
Dual Amplification: This unit
has dual amplifiers for each speaker with 80 watts per channel for the main
drivers and 170 watts per channel for the subwoofers.
Disc Compatibility:
This unit will play audio CDs, audio CD-Rs and CD-RWs, and WMA/MP3 CDs.
Disc Exchange: You can exchange
up to two discs without interrupting the currently playing disc.
WMA/MP3 Playback: This
unit can play MP3 files recorded on CD-R, and CD-RW discs in ISO9660 Level
1/Level 2 format. Each disc can have a maximum of 200 folders and 500 files.
All Disc Play: When
more than one disc is loaded, you can begin playback from any disc and the unit
will play all discs continuously in numerical order until all discs are played.
Program Play: When
playing an audio CD, up to 32 tracks can be programmed and played in any order.
Random Play: You can play all
the tracks on a selected disc in random order.
Repeat Play: You can
repeat the current track, all the tracks on the selected disc, or all the tracks
on all loaded CDs. You can also use Repeat play for Program mode.
Note: Repeat play and
Random play cannot be used at the same time.
MP3/WMA Playback Mode: When
playing an MP3/WMA disc, you can choose from one of the following playback
modes.
- Track Mode: The unit will
only recognize tracks (files) during playback; just like playing back an
audio CD.
- Album Mode: The unit
recognizes tracks (files) and albums (folders) on and MP3/WMA disc. You can
play and MP3/WMA disc according to how the songs are grouped.
Resume Play for MP3/WMA Discs:
For an MP3/WMA disc, this unit can store the number of the track that you
stooped playback. You can start playback again from the beginning of the same
track you stopped on.
Note: If you press the
eject button, disc buttons, or the disc skip button the Resume Play memory
is erased.
AM/FM Tuner: This
system has a digital AM/FM Tuner. You can store up to 45 station presets (30 FM
and 15 AM) so that you always have easy access to your favorite stations without
having to tune them in manually each time. The tuner has three tuning modes:
Manual, Preset, and Auto (seek) tuning. If you are listening to an FM station in
stereo and the reception is weak, you can improve the sound quality by switching
to Mono.
Soundfield Modes: You
can select one of the 6 preset soundfield modes to listen to your music in.
- Three Sound Modes:
- Rock: boosts low and
high frequencies, good for acoustic music
- Pop: increases vocal
levels, good for vocal music
- Classic: great for
classical music listening
- Three Surround Modes:
- Dance: increase
resonance and bass in the music
- Hall: adds depth and
brilliance to the sound
- Stadium: adds clarity
and spreads the sound, like in and outdoor stadium
USB Port: This unit is equipped
with a USB terminal on the front panel. You can connect your PC to this terminal
and enjoy sound reproduced through your PC.
Note: This unit cannot send
any signal or date to your PC.
AUX Input: By using a stereo
mini plug cord (not supplied), you can connect the audio equipment with an
analog audio output such as an MD player, portable MP3 player or a TV.
Sound Turbo: In Sound Turbo
mode, harder-hitting beats intensify your listening experience eve a low sound
levels. Sound Turbo also works even when the song has no "beat", such as
classical music, so that you can listen to the rich sound even at low volume.
Subwoofer Level Control: You
can independently adjust the subwoofer level to one of three settings: Level 0,
1, or 2.
Daily Timer: You can
use the daily timer as an alarm clock to wake up to a CD, the radio, or a
connected auxiliary component at a preset volume level. Once the timer is
active, it will operate everyday at the set time.
Sleep Timer: The sleep timer
switches the system off after a specified amount of time so you can fall asleep
without worrying about the stereo being left on all night. The sleep timer can
be set to 10, 20, 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes.
Fade Muting: When you push the
mute button on the remote, the volume drops gradually until it reaches "zero."
When the mute is disabled, the volume gradually increases until it reaches the
original volume level.
Beep Tones: Each time you press
a button or turn a control, the unit will beep. This function can be turned off
if you desire.
Display: The large multi-color
display features a 12-band level meter which moves with the music, and gradually
lights up as the volume is increased. The alphanumeric display indicates the
sound modes, disc track and elapsed time, and the tuner band and frequency.
There are also numerous icons indicating timer status and playback modes.
ECO: To save power consumption
while the unit is in standby mode, press the ECO button. While in ECO mode all
the indicators in the display window, including the display demonstration
disappears.

Design: The MX-C55 includes two mirror-image 3-way speakers in a
bass-reflex enclosure. Each speaker uses a 2" paper cone tweeter, a 3-15/16"
poly cone midrange, and a 6-5/16" poly cone woofer. Each speaker is bi-amplified
(with 170 watts for the subwoofer, plus 80 watts for the midrange and tweeter) so
your music stays clear when it gets loud.

Bi-Amplified Speaker Terminals:
The MX-C55 features 4 color-coded spring clip speaker terminals for each
speaker--one pair for the subwoofer, and one pair for the main speaker drivers.
The subwoofer and the main speakers are separately amplified.
Auxiliary Input: You can
connect another piece of equipment such as a portable MiniDisc, MP3 player or TV to the
unit's front panel 3.5mm minijack auxiliary input.
USB Audio: This USB Type B port
allows you to connect your computer and play music through the system.
Headphone Jack: The unit
features a front-panel headphone jack.
Antenna: The unit comes
equipped with a 2-pin connection plug for the AM antenna and a F-type push-on
connector for the FM antenna.
