Olympus ECG-1

Overview

Our take on the Olympus ECG-1

The Olympus ECG-1 provides a convenient, ergonomic grip that eases the strain on your fingers during a long shooting day. It locks in place for a firm connection.

I have small hands, and this grip makes the EM-10 more comfortable for me to hold. With it, I feel like I have a solid grip on my camera. The design allows access to the battery/SD card compartment via quick release lever.

Transforms the camera

Totally transforms the camera. I missed the handling of dslr but this almost fixed it. Must have accessory. I only wish it has extra power source, but that would probably make it much bulkier.

Not using without Grip

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I buy this item for my Om-D EM10. I have installed it when I get the camera. It gives the camera the ability to hold it in one hand with only 2-3 fingers. I guess there will be cheaper alternatives soon but this is very well made. So I would go with the original olympus.

Pros: Good holding position. Built quality.

Cons: Not a battery option. Only grip.

Features

Overview: The ECM-1 camera grip attaches to the bottom of the Olympus E-M10 camera to give you a better, more secure grip, especially for users with large hands. With a firm grip of the camera, it is easier to avoid blurred images due to camera shake. The ECM-1 screws into the bottom of the E-M10 using the camera's tripod thread. Access to the tripod thread is provided through the bottom of the camera grip, allowing you to mount the camera onto a tripod. When attached, the ECM-1 adds approximately 1/2" to the overall height, and 3.1 ounces to the overall weight of the E-M10 camera.

Fast Release Mechanism: The ECG-1 has a fast release mechanism that allows you to quickly remove most of the camera grip. This provides access to the battery and SD card compartment whenever needed.

Adds a nice grip with little bulk

Written by Zak Billmeier, Staff Writer - Creative, on 6/17/2015 11:20:00 AM

This little grip really transforms the Olympus E-M10 into a much easier camera to hold if you have larger hands. It adds a nice extra bump on top of the camera's existing built-in grip while only adding 1/2" to the bottom of the camera. Even with this grip in place, the camera is still tiny.

It's a smart, two-part design, too. A small piece locks onto the tripod mount on the bottom, and the main part of the grip clips into place on top of it. That allows for easy release so you can get to the battery and memory card compartment without unscrewing the grip. A little tab slides over to let you quickly remove/reinstall the grip. Love that. And the bottom piece has a metal tripod mount for durability's sake, great if your strap screws into it. All in all, a well thought out grip.
