Fast enough to keep up

For sharp captures of kids, pets and other moving subjects, the OM-D E-M10 Mark II has a speedy 81-point autofocus system with subject tracking to maintain focus even when your subject is moving forward or backward. Continuous shooting at a rate of 8.5 frames per second lets you get a series of crisp action shots. The camera's advanced five-axis image stabilization system compensates for different kinds of camera movement to effectively reduce image blur. This feature also enables better low-light photography and minimizes camera shake in handheld videos.

Easy touchscreen control

The OM-D E-M10 Mark II has a super-responsive 3" capacitive touchscreen that's intuitive to operate. Use it to select the area you want to focus on and trigger the shutter with just a light touch. Live View mode lets you frame your shot and preview your settings, and a digital level gauge can be displayed to help you line up your composition. The touchscreen also tilts upward and downward to help with composition from odd angles. Switch from Live View to the electronic viewfinder anytime you like — it's especially helpful in bright conditions. Whether you use Live View or the viewfinder, you can preview any changes you make to your settings before you shoot, so you'll know what the result will look like.

Creative expression made easy

Live Guide shows you the way

The OM-D E-M10's Live Guide feature gives you composition tips and suggests settings to help you get the results you want. It helps you dial in the settings for a dreamy defocused background to make your subject stand out, and lets you control color and brightness, giving you a preview of your final image before you shoot. Live Guide also gives you options for artistic rendering of moving subjects, whether you want to show interpretive motion blur or freeze your subject sharply in place.

The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II has a 3" tilting touchscreen

The OM-D E-M10 Mark II 's 3" tilting touchscreen makes it easy to shoot from challenging angles.

Unexpected discoveries broaden your creative vision

With fourteen different art filters that can be applied in combination with a handful of art effects, you won't be at a loss for creative captures of any subject or scene. Art bracketing leads you down the path to discovery by generating multiple art filter images with a single shot so you can experiment without having to choose a filter and surprise yourself with the results. Use the Photo Story feature to create a collage of your favorite images.

Cool clips and captivating time-lapse movies

The OM-D E-M10 Mark II's Clips feature lets you shoot video clips of up to eight seconds each and combine them in the sequence of your choice right in the camera to create easy-to-upload short videos. Interval timer settings let you set up the OM-D E-M10 Mark II to capture multiple frames at the interval of your choice, which the camera automatically combines into time-lapse movies. You can use this feature to capture drifting clouds, a flower opening, people moving around, and virtually any other changing scene you can imagine.

A versatile lens to get you on your way

The included M. Zuiko 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 II EZ lens is a mid-range zoom that's perfect for everyday use. Great for landscapes, portraits and architecture shots, the lens's 7.9" minimum focus distance also makes it an excellent choice for close-ups. Its large maximum aperture gives you natural-looking background blur to emphasize your subject. The lens's Movie & Stills Compatible (MSC) autofocus system and electronic zoom mechanism give you near silent control so you won't hear it working when you're shooting video with sound.

Share instantly and expand your control with Wi-Fi

The OM-D E-M10 Mark II's built-in Wi-Fi lets you upload and share your photos and movies instantly. You'll also have access to the free Olympus Image Share app on your phone or tablet. The app lets you apply the same in-camera filters and effects on your device. You can use your device as a Wi-Fi remote to control zoom and exposure settings, select your autofocus area, activate the self-timer, and release the shutter.

Image Pickup Device: The E-M10 Mark II uses a 4/3" Live MOS sensor with approximately 17,200,000 total pixels and 16,050,000 effective pixels. This is the same sensor used in Olympus DSLRs, and is 8 times larger than the typical sensor found in the average point-and-shoot camera.

Dust Reduction System: The E-M10 Mark II's Dust Reduction System includes a Supersonic Wave Filter to eliminate dust particles on the image sensor. The self-cleaning sensor unit silently vibrates 30,000 times per second, ensuring clear, spot-free images.

3" LCD Monitor: The camera has a 3" Vari-angle LCD touchscreen display for framing your shots and viewing your digital pictures and videos. The 1,040,000-dot display (3:2 aspect ratio) can be tilted up to 85° or down to a 45° angle for low- or high-angle shots. Touch navigation lets you control the camera in both the shooting and playback modes with the touch of a finger.

OLED Electronic Viewfinder: In addition to the 3" monitor, the E-M10 Mark II has a built-in OLED Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) with a 2.36M dots. The viewfinder provides a bright clear view of your subject. An eye sensor next to the viewfinder automatically switches between the EVF and the 3" monitor. The viewfinder features a diopter to let you adjust the image to your eyesight.

Built-in Wi-Fi: You can use the wireless LAN functions on the camera to share and transfer images wirelessly, and operate the camera remotely from a Wi-Fi-connected smartphone. The smartphone must be running the Olympus Image Share (OI.Share) application, available from Google Play for Android devices (version 4.0 - 5.1) and from iTunes for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch (iOS 7.0 - 8.4). Up to 4 devices can be simultaneously connected via QR code. In addition, you can add location information to your images when using a smartphone with a GPS function. The wireless LAN function on the camera cannot be used to connect to a home or public access point.

Image Recording Formats: The E-M10 Mark II records digital still images in JPEG format, as well as RAW uncompressed images. RAW images can be processed into JPEG files in the camera or using the supplied software. You can record up to 30 seconds of audio with still images in WAV format. Movies are recorded in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 and AVI Motion JPEG with 16-bit PCM stereo audio at a 48 kHz sampling rate.

Note: The E-M10 Mark II can record 3D photos in MPO format when used with the optional H-FT012 3D lens from Panasonic.

Still Image File Sizes: The E-M10 Mark II allows you to shoot still images in 8 sizes with your choice of 4 compression modes. You can set the aspect ratio to 4:3, 16:9, 3:2, 1:1 or 3:4. Compression modes available for each picture resolution are Super Fine (1/2.7 compression), Fine (1/4), Normal (1/8), and Basic (1/12). RAW images can be recorded only in 4608 x 3456 resolution with lossless compression (approximately 1/1.5 compression). Available image sizes for each aspect ratio include:

  • Program: Aperture and shutter speed are automatically adjusted for optimal results.
  • Aperture Priority: You set the aperture manually, and the camera sets the shutter speed automatically.
  • Shutter Priority: You set the shutter speed manually between 1/4000 to 60 seconds or Bulb, and the camera sets the aperture automatically.
  • Manual: You set the shutter speed and aperture manually.
  • Movie Shooting Modes: You can shoot movies using the shutter speed and aperture effects and movie special effects.

Picture Modes (Processing Options): The camera lets you select image tones to create unique image effects. For each picture mode, you can fine-adjust the image parameters, such as contrast and sharpness. The Picture Modes include:

  • i-Enhance: produces more impressive-looking pictures matched to the scene mode
  • Vivid: produces vivid colors
  • Natural: produces natural colors
  • Muted: produces flat tones
  • Portrait: produces beautiful skin tones
  • Monotone: produces black and white tones
  • Color Creator: produces colors using the color creator
  • Custom: lets you select one of the above modes, set the parameters, and register the setting.

Focus Modes: The E-M10 Mark II features a fast, contrast type auto focus system. You can select Single-AF (focuses when shutter button is pressed halfway), Continuous-AF (always focusing), or Manual (turning the focus ring). You can also fine-adjust the focus manually by turning the focus ring after AF is performed in the S-AF mode. If you have a moving subject, you can use the AF Tracking feature. In this mode, the camera will track and maintain focus on the subject while the shutter button is held halfway.

Auto-Focus Target: The camera has 81 Auto-Focus targets for focusing on the subject. In the All-Target AF mode, the camera automatically chooses from the full set of the 81 AF targets. In the Single-Target AF mode, you can manually select one AF target for accurately focusing on the subject after composing the shot. The Group Target mode lets you select a group of nine AF targets, and the camera chooses the specific target for focusing.

AF Targeting Pad: When enabled, you can select the AF target by touching the area on the right side of the monitor during viewfinder photography. You can touch the monitor and slide your finger to position the AF target. The AF Targeting Pad is turned on/off by double-tapping the monitor.

ISO Settings: The sensitivity can be set automatically or manually. The manual ISO sensitivity ranges from LOW (equivalent to approximately ISO 100), ISO 200 to ISO 25600, with selectable ISO steps of 1 EV or 1/3 EV.

White Balance: Color reproduction depends upon light conditions. You can choose from 4 options for setting the white balance:

  • Auto: For General Use, used for most light conditions
  • Preset: You can choose from the following presets:
    • 5300K: for shooting outdoors on a clear day, for sunset/sunrise, or fireworks
    • 7500K: for shooting outdoors in the shadows on a clear day
    • 6000K: for shooting outdoors on a cloudy day
    • 3000K: for shooting under a tungsten light
    • 4000K: for shooting under fluorescent lighting
    • 5500K: for flash shooting

  • Custom: Color temperature set in the custom white balance menu (between 2000K and 14000K)
  • One-Touch: Color temperature set by the one-touch WB method

Sequential Shooting: In addition to shooting single frames, the E-M10 Mark II can also shoot images continuously. When Sequential H is selected, photos are taken at approximately 8.5 frames per second for as long as the shutter button is pressed. Focus, exposure, and white balance are fixed at the first shot. Sequential L takes photos at about 4.3 fps while the shutter button is held down. Focus and exposure are fixed according to the options selected for AF mode and AEL/AFL.

Self-Timer: The Self-Timer lets you take pictures after a preset amount of time. You can choose from 2 seconds or 12 seconds. You can also set up a custom self-timer, choosing the number of frames (1-10), time of delay to first shot (1-30 seconds), and interval between multiple shots (0.5, 1, 2, 3).

Bulb/Time Shooting: The E-M10 Mark II can take extra long exposures with bulb and time shooting. When the camera is set to Bulb, the shutter remains open as long as the shutter button stays pressed. In Time Photography, the shutter opens when the shutter button is pressed all the way down and released. The exposure ends when the shutter button is pressed and released a second time. Use of a tripod and the optional RM-UC1 remote cable are highly recommended for bulb shooting.

Time-Lapse Photography: The camera can be set to shoot automatically with a set time lapse, to be viewed as individual photos or as a time-lapse movie. This feature is only available in the P/A/S/M shooting modes. You can set the total number of frames (1-999), start waiting time (00:00:01 to 24:59:59), interval time (00:00:01 to 24:59:59), and turn on/off time lapse movie. If either the start waiting time or shooting interval is set to longer than 1 minute 30 seconds, the monitor and camera power will turn off after 1 minute. Ten seconds before shooting, the power will automatically turn on again.

Flash Modes: The E-M10 Mark II comes with a pop-up flash. You can select from several flash modes: Auto, Fill in flash, Red-eye reduction flash, Slow synchronization (1st curtain), Slow sync (1st curtain) with Red-eye reduction, Slow synchronization (2nd curtain), Manual flash, and Flash off. Some flash modes are not available for all shooting modes. You can also manually set the intensity of the flash to full, 1/4, 1/16, or 1/64 power.

External Flash: The E-M10 Mark II has a hot shoe for attaching an optional external flash unit, such as the Olympus FL-14, RF-11, TF-22, FL-50R, FL-300R, and FL-600R. These external flash units communicate with the camera, allowing you to control the camera's flash modes with various available flash control modes, such as TTL-AUTO. The units listed above have a remote control mode that can be used for wireless flash photography.

Bracketing: To increase your chances of getting the perfect exposure in difficult shooting conditions, you can set the camera to take a number of photos at different exposure values for each frame. Frames are shot at optimum exposure, plus pictures adjusted in the opposite directions of exposure. You can perform bracketing in the following ways:

  • AE Bracket: Three frames are shot using automatic exposure. You can set the compensation value to 0.3 EV, 0.7 EV, or 1.0 EV, and the number of shots at 2, 3, 5, or 7.
  • WB Bracket: Three frames are shot using different white balances; one at specified WB, one adjusted toward amber-blue color, and the other toward green-magenta. You can set the bracketing adjustments in 2, 4, or 6 steps.
  • FL Bracket: Three frames are shot with different flash intensity. Compensation values can be set at 0.3 EV, 0.7 EV, or 1.0 EV.
  • ISO Bracket: Three images are taken, each with different ISO sensitivity, with shutter speed and aperture fixed. Compensation values can be set at 0.3 EV, 0.7 EV, or 1.0 EV.
  • Art Bracketing: Multiple images are taken, each with a different art filter setting. You can select which art filters to include in the bracketing shot.
  • Focus Bracketing: Multiple shots are taken at different focus positions, each moving successively farther from the initial focus position. You can select the number of shots and the focus differential for each shot. Shooting ends when the focus reaches infinity.

Metering Modes: There are 5 ways to measure the subject brightness:

  • Digital ESP: Camera measures light levels and calculates the differences in 324 separate areas of the image. Face detection uses Digital ESP metering.
  • Center-Weighted Average: Camera provides the average metering between the subject and background lighting, placing more weight on the subject in the center.
  • Spot: Camera meters a very small area around the center of the subject.
  • Spot with Highlight Control: If overall background is bright, the camera shifts toward over-exposure so white areas don't turn gray.
  • Spot with Shadow Control: If overall background is dark, the camera shifts toward under-exposure so black areas don't turn gray.

Face Detection: The camera will detect people's faces in the frame and adjust the focus and metering automatically. You can also select left, right, or closest eye priority for focusing.

Multiple Exposure: The E-M10 Mark II lets you create multiple exposures in a single frame. Methods include: two frames combined as one, portions of one frame merged with portions of another, or RAW frames overlaid in the playback mode.

Digital Level: To ensure that your pictures are level perfect, the camera has a digital level gauge that can be viewed in the monitor and the electronic viewfinder when the shutter button is pressed halfway.

Photo Playback: You can play back images one at a time, or in an index display of 4, 9, 25, or 100. You can also display images recorded on the memory card by date (calendar display). While in single image playback, the image can be magnified to 2x, 3x, 5x, 7x, 10x, or 14x for a closer look.

Playback On TV: The E-M10 Mark II allows you to play back your still images or movies on a TV. The camera has a Micro HDMI (Type D) output for connecting to an HDTV. Output resolution can be set to 1080p, 720p, and 480p. No Micro HDMI-to-HDMI cable is included. In addition, you can connect the camera to a TV with composite video, using the optional CB-AVC3 AV cable connected to the camera's multi-connector.

HDMI Control: When HDMI Control is set to "On", the camera can be operated by a TV remote control when it is connected to the TV via HDMI. The TV must support HDMI control. During single-frame playback, you can display or hide the information display and the index display.

PictBridge Printing Capability: Using the supplied USB cable, you can connect this camera directly to a PictBridge-compliant printer, regardless of brand.

Power Options: The E-M10 Mark II is powered by the supplied BLS-50 Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery (7.2 volts 1210mAh). The battery charges in approximately 3.5 hours in the supplied BCS-5 battery charger. The BLS-5 battery is good for approximately 320 shots on a single charge.

Included Lens

14-42mm Lens: The E-M10 Mark II Zoom Lens Kit includes the M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ wide-angle zoom lens. The 14-42mm focal length is equivalent to 28-84mm in 35mm photography.

Electronic Zoom (EZ): This 3x zoom lens features an electronic retraction feature that automatically extends and retracts the lens as you power the camera on or off. The 2-step variable electronic zoom mechanism gives you smooth zooming control throughout the zoom range. This is a highly desirable feature when shooting HD movies. You can zoom in and out by turning the zoom ring on the lens in one direction or another.

MSC Mechanism: The lens includes a motorized zoom mechanism for smooth, quiet zooming while shooting movies. The MSC (Movie & Still Compatible) mechanism is enhanced by a newly developed linear motor drive that enables faster, quieter focusing.
