Features Overview: The Canon EF16-35mm F2.8L II USM lens is a high-performance, water-resistant, and ultra-wide angle Canon L-series lens. The lens features an Ultrasonic Motor (USM). The lens features three high-precision aspherical lens elements, each of a different type: ground, replica, and GMo for even better image quality than the original EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM. The lens includes the LP1319 Lens Case and the EW-88 Lens Hood. Ultrasonic Motor (USM): The EF 16-35mm lens is equipped with a ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM) for silent, high-speed auto focusing. Focusing Ring: Regardless of whether you're in manual or auto focus mode, the focusing ring always works. This means you can auto focus on a subject, but manually change the focus by turning the focusing ring. Focus Mode Switch: You can switch between Auto Focus and Manual Focus using the two-way switch on the barrel of the lens. Zoom Ring: The lens has a rotary type zoom ring. The lens barrel indicates the zoom range between 16mm and 35mm, with marks at 20mm, 24mm, and 28mm. Water/Dust Resistance: The lens mount has a rubber ring for enhanced water- and dust-resistance. Lens Hood: The lens kit includes the EW-88 lens hood to keep unwanted light out of the lens, and protects the front of the lens. The hood can be reverse-mounted on the lens for storage. When installed, the hood adds approximately 1-3/16" to the overall length and 13/16" to the overall diameter of the lens. Optional Filters: The EF 16-35mm lens has an 82mm mounting thread on the front of lens for attaching screw-on type filters. Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. For the sake of helpfulness, I will write this review with 3 sections: 1) How I use it: - I use this lens for anything from artistic photography, to portraiture, to event coverage with my Canon EOS 5D Mark II. 2) What's great about it: - The lens is not too heavy, with an amazing build quality. This is real "L" glass. - It has amazing bokeh and gets amazing colors and tack-sharp images. - It's not too bulky for a lens, except at the front elements, but that's okay! - When combined with the rest of my f/2.8L zoom lenses, it gives me consistently good lighting, sharp-imaging, and is well worth the investment over the cheaper Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM lens. 3) What's not so great about it: - I do wish that the filter size wasn't 82mm, since I'm used to 77mm filter sizes for my other "L" lenses, but I don't think it's too big of a deal. - Distortion is something you'll have to get used to when shooting wide, but it's also artistic when you apply it the right way! 4 out of 4 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
