Touchscreen Display
6.2" Touchscreen Monitor: The Nakamichi multimedia receiver features a fixed 6.2" widescreen touchscreen LCD monitor. The screen has a resolution of 800 x RGB (x3) x 480 with 1,152,000 total pixels. This unit has touchscreen controls with interactive video graphics, making menu navigation easy.
- Adjustable Brightness: You can adjust the brightness of the display from High, Low, or Off.
- Clock/Calendar: The multimedia receiver offers a 12-/24-hour clock and month/date/year display. You can view the clock from any source screen, but not Menu screen. Or, you can select to view both the clock and month/date/year at the same time without any source information. The unit must be turned on to view clock and/or calendar.
Parking Brake Detection: To prevent the display of video while the vehicle is in motion, the pink wire (attached to rear-chassis) must be connected to the vehicle's parking brake detection circuit. You cannot view video unless your vehicle's parking brake is fully engaged. If you attempt to view video without the parking brake engaged, the unit's LCD touchscreen will simply display this message - "Video Blocked! Engage Parking Brake To Enjoy Video!". While your vehicle is in motion (parking brake off), you can still view all of the head unit's menu screens/settings, source information, and song/artist info.
Modified Fit: The Nakamichi NA1550's front-panel design causes it to interfere with standard Double-DIN dash kits. You will have to modify the kit's opening and sometimes your vehicle's dash opening to accommodate this head unit. As always, please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to verify fit with your vehicle.
Built-in Bluetooth
Bluetooth Technology: The Nakamichi NA1550 multimedia receiver is equipped with built-in Bluetooth (2.0+EDR) allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:
- Hands-Free Communication: HFP (Hands Free Profile)
- Audio Streaming: A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile)
Hands-Free Communication (w/ Integrated Mic): The Nakamichi NA1550 allows for wireless communication between the head unit and your Bluetooth-enabled iPhone, Android smartphone, or other Bluetooth compatible mobile phone. You'll be able to answer incoming calls, as well as dial outgoing calls. You can transfer the voice from your vehicle speakers to your mobile phone during a call for more privacy.
- Answer/End Incoming Call: When there is an incoming call, the current audio source is muted and a ring tone is played via the loudspeakers of the car sound system. The head unit's display will indicate the phone number or display "Phone In" if there is no phone number. You can answer the incoming call from the head unit's front-panel controls or set the unit to automatically answer an incoming call. You'll be able to speak into the head unit's integrated front-panel mic during your phone conversation, while the other party is heard through your vehicle's speakers.
- Dialing Outgoing Call: You can make a call using the Nakamichi multimedia receiver's touchscreen controls. Outgoing calls can be made be entering telephone numbers (0-9, *, #) directly via the head unit's touchscreen. All other dialing functions (like phone number, phone book, voice, etc) will have to be done from your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone first and then transferred to the head unit.
Wireless Audio Streaming: The Nakamichi NA1550 allows you to wirelessly play back stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, or other Bluetooth-enabled devices using a Bluetooth A2DP/AVRCP connection. You can control basic playback functions of your music on your Bluetooth-enabled device from the NA1550's front-panel. Playback functions include Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track.
Disc/SD/USB Playback
Disc Compatibility: The Nakamichi NA1550 has a front-loading disc-slot to make loading your disc easier. The NA1550 supports playback of DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-Audio, and CD-R/RW discs. The unit supports MPEG1/MPEG2 video files and MP3/WMA music files recorded on DVD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, and CD-R/RW discs.

Front-Panel USB Port: The Nakamichi NA1550 features a front panel USB (type-A) port that is hidden behind a flip-out cover. The USB port enables connection and control of a portable USB mass-storage class (MSC) device; such as select Android smartphones (Froyo/Gingerbread only), portable digital audio players, or USB thumbdrives. The unit supports playback & control of MP3/WMA music files and MPEG1/MPEG2 video files loaded onto a compatible USB MSC device. iPhone/Android Integration (optional)
Optional Mirror Phone Box: Nakamichi's Mirror Phone Box (MB1, sold separately) can be used to connect select Android (4.0+) and Apple iOS (6.0+) devices for mirroring and audio/video playback through the NA1550 multimedia receiver. You can listen to stored music and music apps (like Pandora/iHeartRadio), watch stored video and video apps (like Netflix/YouTube), as well as view maps and listen to navigation commands from navigation apps (like Google/Apple) on your smartphone through the NA1550.
- Android OS Connectivity: The Mirror Phone Box includes a MHL 11-pin cable and a MHL 5-pin cable for compatible Android (4.0+) smartphones. In addition, for both types of iPhones, you will need a a mobile-grade HDMI cable (sold separately). You'll be able to select from stored music and video files on your smartphone, choose from various downloaded music and movie applications, and enter destinations from downloaded navigation apps; all from the NA1550's touchscreen (parking brake not required). You'll also be able to control all of your Android device's phone functions from the head unit's touchscreen, including Phonebook and Recent Contacts.
Note: Apple iOS devices do not support this application and cannot be controlled from the head unit, so you will have to continue to control your Apple device from its own touchscreen.

I purchased the Nakamichi based on the quality audio name for my 07 Corvette when the OEM CD unit shot craps after 8 years. The Nakamichi unit was everything I expected and then some. It is a great looking unit, sounds great thru the OEM BOSE speakers and looks like it should be there in the dash.
