About the Nakamichi NGTA602
Give your music strength
Give your music strength
Nakamichi's NTGA602 2-channel amplifier puts out 60 watts RMS per channel — plenty enough to power a pair of speakers or a set of components. You can also drive a subwoofer with 180 watts RMS in 1-channel mode. This amp features Nakamichi's patented Harmonic Time Alignment technology, which reduces distortion throughout the whole audio spectrum resulting in powerful, clear musical reproduction.
Convenient features
You'll find all the connections and adjustment controls recessed on one side of the amp, for a neat installation and easy access for adjustments. Variable high- and low-pass filters let you tune the signal so your system can sound its best. A switchable bass boost lets you bump up your bass, whether you're running a subwoofer or not.

Features
Power Output: The Nakamichi NGTA602 Class AB 2-channel amplifier delivers the following power output (RMS Power Output @ 1% THD+N, 14.4 VDC):
- 60 watts x 2 @ 4 ohms
- 90 watts x 2 @ 2 ohms
- 180 watts x 1 bridged @ 4 ohms
Protection Circuitry: The amplifier features protection circuitry for thermal overload and short circuits. The LED on the side of the amp glows red if the amp goes into protection mode.
Design: The NGTA-series amplifiers feature all of the connections and controls on one side. This gives the amp a clean look, and makes it easier to access the controls.
Controls
Gain Controls: The NGTA602's rotary gain control lets you match the amp's input sensitivity to the output of the source unit. The low-level input sensitivity range of the amplifier is 200mV to 5V, while the high-level sensitivity is 400mV to 10V. A small screwdriver (not included) is required to set the gain.
Crossover: The amp features a 12 dB/octave crossover that can be configured as High-Pass, Low-Pass, or set to Off for full range operation. The crossover has a continuously variable cutoff frequency between 50Hz and 200Hz. You'll need a small screwdriver to adjust the crossover frequency.
Bass Boost (Q-Tune): The NGTA602 has a selectable bass boost (0dB or +6dB), centered at 45Hz. This is useful when bridging the amplifier to power a subwoofer.
Connections
Terminals: The NGTA602 uses gold-plated set-screw terminals for the +12V power, ground, turn-on (remote) lead, and speaker outputs. The set-screws are tightened/loosened with the supplied 3mm Allen wrench.
Power/Ground: The +12V Power and Ground terminals will accept bare wire up to 8 AWG. It is recommended that you use an 8 AWG power wire to the battery, with an in-line 25-amp (minimum) fuse installed no more than 18" from the battery terminal. An 8 AWG ground wire (minimum) should be used, and attached to a metal area close to the amplifier.
Remote Turn-On: The Remote screw terminal will accept bare wire up to 8 AWG. Typically, an 18 AWG turn-on lead is included in an amplifier wiring kit.
Speaker-Level Inputs: The amp includes a Speaker Level Input harness for connecting the amp to a factory radio or aftermarket head unit without preamp outputs. You should splice left and right speaker wires from the head unit to the harness and plug the harness into the amp.
Line-Level Inputs: The amplifier is equipped with a pair of gold-plated RCA inputs for connecting stereo RCA patch cables from the head unit to the amp. If you are bridging the amplifier and have only one input, a Y-adapter will be needed to connect the left and right RCA inputs.
Speaker Outputs: The amp features set-screw terminals for connecting two speakers in stereo or one speaker in bridged mono. In bridged mode, you should connect the Left + and the Right - terminals. The terminals will accept bare wire up to 8 AWG. It is recommended that a minimum of 12 AWG speaker wire be used.
