NSE66 tweeter

The NSE 66's contoured tweeter plane widens your listening sweet spot.

Are your factory speakers done?

After months (maybe years) of listening to flat, compromised sound in your car, Nakamichi's NSE 66 6-1/2" coaxial speakers will bring your music to life with new detail and lush dimension. You'll hear the pluck of individual bass notes; you'll hear vocals soar higher than they ever could through factory speakers; and as a result, you may find yourself looking for more excuses to spend time in your car.

All about you

Treating your passengers to the pleasure of Nakamichi's balanced, hi-fi sound makes a great impression, but it's not as essential as your enjoyment. After all, you're the driver, and Nakamichi has designed the NSE 66 speaker with you in mind. Its contoured tweeter plane guides high-frequency output to create a wider listening "sweet spot" so that you'll hear more detail from the driver seat, even if your speakers aren't pointed directly at you.

If you're contemplating a custom installation, Nakamichi includes grilles for seamless integration into your car's interior.

Highlights:

  • 6-1/2" 2-way speakers (pair)
  • polypropylene woofer cone with rubber surround
  • 1/2" Mylar dome tweeter
  • power range: 2-25 watts RMS (50 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 82-20,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 89 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-15/16"
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Nakamichi NSE 66 Installation

1997 Nissan Hardbody
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I removed the oem speakers from my Nissan. I installed the cable adapters for the new speakers. I then had to hold the speakers in place to drill the mounting holes since no hole drilling template was included. I attached the speakers to the cable adapter and screwed the speaker into the doors. Tested the speakers and they both worked. I then found out that I could not use the Nakamichi speaker grilles as the were designed to attach to the speakers and not the door panels. So I used the oem grilles. I then tested the speakers and they sounded great. I then found out that the Nakamichi speaker grilles were designed to mount on the speaker and not in the door panel. so I had the use the oem speaker grilles.

Pros: Cable adapters for the new speakers were provided. The speakers sounded great

Cons: No hole drilling template was included. Could not use the Nakamichi speaker grilles

Wow, was impressed with the great reviews, thought I couldn't go wrong

2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After reading all of the great reviews on this speaker, I thought surely I can't go wrong... To my surprise, I went wrong. Crutchfield quickly sent out the speakers, and I immediately installed them in my 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD. I wanted to get a better sound out of my factory stereo (I have a non-bose factory stereo). I was disapointed to hear how tinny these speakers sounded - as if you're listening to them in a big tin can. They lack a fullness to them, a lot of treble, an awful mid-range sound, and little to no Bass. I cannot recommend them. Fortunately, the fine folks at Crutchfield recommended and are shipping me a different set (some Polk's). I hope to have better experience with them!

Pros: Can't really think of any.

Cons: Tinny sounding, no fullness to them!

Replaced factory '07 Saturn Ion front door speakers with the NSE 66's. The upgrade was my first choice to the system and well worth it! Easy install with the supplied kit. Can't ask for a better speaker and supplier with free shipping!! This was a no brainer!! Will be ordering more audio equipment from Crutchfield!

Pros: Easy install package. Great sound for the money.

Cons: None

2010 Subaru Impreza WRX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Using a JVC HD Radio and powered subwoofer instead of the stock setup these Nakamichis have provided a couple levels of increased clarity and high end response for a very reasonable price. Installation was straight forward and the furnished adaptors and baffles fit well. I listen to a lot of 70-80's rock, classical and jazz using radio, mp3 and CD's. The receiver has tunable equalization and I lowered response at 2khz and 10khz with a -2 adjustments. This resulted in a better response to my ears in this particular car. A nice improvement for 2 hours work.

Pros: Smooth and clear sound Better power handling

Cons: none

Nakamichi Speakers

Written by: Todd from San Antonio, TX on October 15, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers were purchased to replace a non-functioning door speaker in a 2008 Silverado, after replacing the non-working speaker and comparing it to the other OEM speaker, I decided that it did not sound as good as the original speaker. So, I left the other speaker in place and will keep the second Nakamichi speaker as a back-up.

Features

Mounting: The speaker baskets have multiple mounting holes and are designed to fit standard 3-hole 6-1/2" applications and Ford's non-symmetrical 4-hole 6-1/2" applications. Because of the extra mounting tabs, they will also fit many standard 4-hole 6-3/4" applications. (When mounting in a 6-3/4" application, use a speaker baffle to seal the inner ring of screw holes.) Please refer to the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm easy fit in your vehicle.

Size Classification Note: Nakamichi calls this size speaker a 6". Because it fits the industry standard cutout for a 6-1/2" speaker, Crutchfield refers to it as a 6-1/2".
