A home theater system requires clean, consistent AC power to operate at its best. Panamax's M4300-PM protects up to nine components from harmful power spikes and surges, as well as the minor voltage fluctuations that can compromise your system's performance over time. It also filters the incoming AC power, removing line noise to maximize your system's picture and sound quality. Easy to hook up and easy to use, the M4300-MP is our best-selling line conditioner.
Panamax's patent pending AVM™ circuitry continuously monitors the incoming power. If either undervoltage or overvoltage is detected, power to the connected equipment is automatically turned off. When the line voltage returns to a safe level, power is automatically reconnected.
The eight AC outlets on the back panel are divided into two isolated banks. One bank handles high-current components, such as your receiver and subwoofer, while the other bank handles your other audio/video gear. Isolating the outlet banks from one another prevents noise contamination between components. A front-panel convenience outlet lets you quickly plug in a video game system or camcorder.
Two sets of coaxial inputs and outputs protect your satellite, cable or TV antenna connections. A pair of protected phone jacks prevents spikes from sneaking in through your phone line, and a pair of Ethernet jacks protects your network connection. This versatile unit also features a protected front-panel USB charger for your MP3 player, cell phone or other portable electronic device.
A digital voltmeter with adjustable brightness lets you monitor the power coming into your system. The M4300-PM also features two hooded convenience lights that shine downward to illuminate the front panels of your stacked components. You can change the intensity of these lights, or turn them off, as you prefer.
My Meridian home theatre speaker system is sensitive to power fluctuations, and didn't work with common power strips. With the clean power delivery of the Panamax M4300-PM the system runs flawlessly.
Pros: Performing, quiet, attractive
Cons: Not sure why the power lights need to be so bright. They almost light up a room at night
I was having 60 cycle hum problems with another product and purchased the Panamax 4300 because their claim of eliminating noise. It did the trick! It was everything they in terms of performance. Further, it is attractive and very easy to install. I recommend Panamax to all.
Pros: Quiet, attactive, compact with great display
This equipment has been a lifesaver. We had a bad storm the other night, high winds, rain, etc. Well the power went out, and I of course started to worry about my electronic equipt.. And then I remembered I had the Panamax for surge and brown out protection. Kept eye on everthing as this was first storm after purchase. Worked like a charm.
Overall this item has been great to me over the past few months. I did a lot of research trying to find a unit that wouldn't break the bank as some of the line conditioners are 500+ dollars. With the current discounts (which have been in place for some time), this is an amazing price for this device. I just bought my second unit to cover my incomming PS4 and all of it's related tech (chargers, wireless headsets, etc). Just keep my con in mind. If you have a lot of larger you may need to get creative or use small extension chords.
Pros: The unit has an appealing front face and the display is handy to show total load on the device. The ability to run Cable through the conditioner is a big plus in my book. Finally as noted in my Review - the price is fantastic for this level of hardware.
Cons: In an attempt to cram as many plugs into this compact unit as possible, larger plugs are not easily used. I was able to get around this by using the USB and single plug on the front of the unit.
Nice price and just the right amount of outlets, This is my second Panamax product and I have never had a problem with them.
Pros: Not overpriced, practical .. Looks nice on my Stereo Rack
I immediately noticed a substantial difference in the way my Home Theater sounded! Everything in multichannel, SACD, BDA, DVD AUDIO, etc.....all sounded much clearer, and more open! Then I clicked on the TV. I have HD CABLE, and it was now so clear and vibrant. I thought it looked good before, and I had a pretty good surge protector before, but this beat it hands down! Great product, and super fast shipping!!!
Pros: Much Clearer audio and video Compact Simple installation
Cons: Can't hookup larger power cords, too close together, but there are ways around it!! ( 8" extensions that come in a 3 pack!)
I had been looking for a reliable surge protector for a Plasma TV after I had lost one to a power surge. After extensive research I decided to go with the Panamax M4300-PM. I was not expecting that it would improve the picture quality and sound but it fact in my opinion it did. I like the volt display, which in my case does fluctuate from 123 - 128volts. Also the two LED light that point down are very helpful for loading DVDs in low light.
Pros: Great brand and two inputs for coax which is great if you have Directv!
Cons: Price, but you get what you pay for and Crutchfield by far had the best deal that I could find.
great product at at great price worked as advertised
I ordered this as front line protection for my son's home theater. He and my daughter in law had damage to some components previous to the purchase and have experienced none since the installation. I would guess the 4300 is displaying an average plus or minus 2% fluctuation in voltage from the utility company was the root most likely the cause of previous damage, No isuses with components to date and the picture seems to be clearer and with good sound quality since the hookup.
Pros: Does what it is intended to do.
Cons: Better price point.
GREAT PRODUCT. DOES WHAT IT SAYS...CLEAN POWER AND PEACE OF MIND. ALSO, VERY "COOL" LOOKING AMONG HOME THEATER SET UP!
Pros: BUILD QUALITY, SYLE, FUNCTION...VALUE FOR MONEY
Plenty of protection circuits.
This is an excellent item that is well made and ,overall, well thought out.
Pros: Sale price !
Cons: It would be a big plus to me if the front panel outlet were unswitched.
Great product. I like the look of the unit and the two lights that can be turned on and off as needed. The lighting feature is a great idea and helps to view all the controls of the system I have just under this unit. Has a lot of outlets on the back of the unit and one in the front.
Pros: Two user controlled lights and plenty of power outlets
What was I thinking all these years?? I thought all I needed was surge suppression....dope! I invest moderate $$'s on high quality equipment and forget to put the icing on the cake. BUY THIS UNIT!!!! It does everything as advertised. Picture quality has vastly improved with the clean power and I don't fear our southeastern storms and related power spikes. Did I say BUY THIS UNIT!!!!
This a nice life insurance policy for your gear. We spend a lot of hard earned dollars for our electronics and seldom do we think to protect it against power fluxuations. This item will help you do just that and it has so many plugs (holes, George) to put your gear in, you'll be impressed. It even is a stylish addition to your media center. Well worth the money and should give you a little piece of mind.
Pros: Design, Number of outlets and flexiablity.
Cons: None at this time. Let's what for a good old fashion Texas Thunderstorm and see what she does...
After reviewing different brands and model offerings, I purchased this unit based on the level of protection and options available. I hooked up the Panamax and immediately noticed an improvement in the quality of video. Connecting the Panamax was straightforward and the display panel provides information at a glance, and the slim design is perfect for limited space.. The USB connection on the front panel provides convenient charging options for a variety of devices, and the accent lights are a nice touch.
Pros: Intuitive hookup, easy to use, easy to place within existing system. Slim design and great options
Seems to improve video. The display is a bit bright.
Pros: Good protection. Improved video.
Cons: Bright display can be distracting.
I'm very pleased with my purchase! It improved all my electronics, TV looks better than before, no hum in my subs, I like accent lights to illuminate and show off my stereo. The only flaw is with the Blue display, it is too bright, but I just placed a piece of tape over it.
Pros: Price, stylish, blends with my other electronics.
Cons: Bright blue display.
Great product. Not too pricey. I ordered this to serve as protective barrier for my high end AV system which I have set up in my country vac home. I will not hesitate to recommend this model to anyone. The front panel lights also looks quite inviting. I am considering getting another one for my desktop as well.
Pros: Simple, practical and reasonably priced
Cons: It's not clear on the owners manual whether I can sit this on top or under a blu ray player
tech suggested this product very pleased yellow display lights cool
Pros: slim design not a space problem here
It told me the amount of volt going to my equipment.
When I bought this I didn't really think I needed it. I live in the country and have not had many power issues but thought with the new system I bought it would provide a measure of power related safety and save me money in the long run. When I got it in I was amazed. It can drive most anything from cable tv, to wall power, etc., and has enough outlets for lots of equipement. The cute nightlight feature is nice but not really needed. Most useful was the power display that showed my wall power output in volts. I had no idea my wall power was as dirty and fluctuated as much as it did going from 109 volts up to 128. Good thing I got this. Would love the display to show the frequency output too though. Only downside is that if you have equipment on both sides of a room you either need more than 1 or have cables running around the room.
Pros: Lots or features; lots of power outputs, easy to set up; power input disply
Cons: need more than one in a big room
Excellent product. Easy hook-up. Here in the lightning capital of the western hemisphere good surge protection is highly recommended. After all, with a power grid that dates to pre-WWII, and many summer storms I want my electronics protected. This product is just the ticket. Great price, and great service from Crutchfield as is the norm!!!
Pros: Easy hook-up. Slim profile. Sturdy.
Cons: None to date.
This product works great. It has performed just as it promised. 2 days after receiving it we suffered terrible Thunder Storms and Tornado's, The ones on the News that destroyed a lot of Moore and other parts of Oklahoma. My power flashed on and off for days, and when it was all over my electronics were absolutely fine. I am Very satisfied.
Pros: It worked great
Cons: I have not found any!
so far, so good. no issues so far. great protection for good components especially here in south FL with all the storms and surges. Good power clean up
Image quality: Seemed to help enhanced/brighten colors and tones. Power stability: No more "pop" and outage from my receiver. Volt reading: Great. I've watched it jump from 20 to 24 and down to 16. Nice to know what's coming in. Equipment Powered: Pioneer 61-in. Plasma, Denon receiver, Infinity surround and sub, Xbox, cable box
Pros: Cleaner tv image. Simple-simple-simple to use. Plenty of outlets. Overall a fantastic product.
Cons: LED readout is a bit bright. No biggie.
Excellent line conditioner/surge suppressor for a smaller dedicated HT system. Build quality is excellent, heavy duty power cord, isolated outlet banks and accessory lights to aid in seeing in a darkened HT room.
Pros: Isolated outlet banks, slim profile, voltage meter, accessory lights, just the right amount of outlets.
Cons: Power cord not detachable so upgrade is not possible.
Could not be happier with purchase. For the price, nothing comes close. High quality, on and off switch for components, AND protects against low voltages as well as surges. Dimming led's, USB charger in front, all in a very attractive, quality look. Would highly recommend for protecting your gear.
Pros: Price, quality, and myriad of functions.
Works as advertised. Have you ever noticed lines on your television (or static in your music) when somone is using a power tool nearby? That is noise generated on the power wire (to an extreme). Your incoming power always has a small amount of this coming in, and this unit will help filter it out! Just a great product if you want great power protection plus improved performance from connected gear!
Pros: Value, convenience, and looks appealing.
so far, this power , cnter is pretty darn good! Able to connect everything. my only minor issue is the blue lcd lighting is way too bright! no way to turn thatoff so we have it covered with black paperand tape. the tape does not stick well to the textured finnishhe of the unit! no abig deal but this is in our bedroom and weare not lookking for all the lighting! we are able to turn off the soft glowing lights meant to illuminate equipment undeer thee panamax.
itt wasa choice betweeen thisuit and a newer model locally. that unit was $100 more for essentially one neew feeature... it had gigabit ethernet passs-through. i am not running my nnewrok through the unit and did not think the extra $100 was worthwhile! ! i spoke to both panamax and Crutchfield before the purchase and am staisfieed with my decision! the joule rating and clamping power are very simiar on the 2 units!
unless you really need true line power conditioning, i think this a no-brainner type of purchase! don't even bother with cheap power strips! pamax also makes a similar product that is more like a power strip that you just put behind your furniture, on the floor. you give up an otlet on the back and thee convenience outlet on the front...
Great price for nice power protection.
Pros: Clean power = Good power
My A/V receiver before using Panamax M4300-PM would start to hum after use, but now it seems almost all the hum is gone. My screen does look brighter, or maybe it is just my mind thinking it is brighter; my wife doesn't notice anything. Overall I love the form factor and what it has done to clean up audio/video. Great product and worth the buy.
Pros: Cleans up power and looks great
Looks great. Like the digital voltage meter. Plug-in on front panel is very handy. I only wish it had more than 1 ethernet input/output, had to buy a separate switch to enable connecting to 2 separate pieces of equipment.
Pros: Looks, First rate protection, Additional plug-in on front, Digital voltmeter
Cons: only 1 ethernet input/output
Great product! Great deal!
Made my 60 inch plasma much brighter + procecting my yamaha amp & CD player
Pros: volt reading and lights help ajusting audio equipment & changing CD`S
Only thing i notice is a better picture on my 60 inch Plasma seems brighter better colors looks nice also with my Yamaha amp great product for the price
Pros: lights that shine over my gear helps when putting in a CD when the lights are dimmed
Was not familiar with this product but after reading some reviews I figured I would give it a try. It was a fantastic purchase. It made my TV picture go from 'OK' to Awesome. I haven't connected it to the stereo system yet but am extremely happy with the purchase
Product performs as advertised. It has even improved the operation of the DVR/cable box. Purchased the unit from Crutchfield they had best on line price.
Pros: Easy to set up. Performs great. Well thought out outlet locations.
Bought a line conditioner for the first time. Extremely happy with the unit. Noticed improvement in sound and picture quality.
Pros: Solidly built. Has plenty of outlets for all my equipments. The unit looks really cool. Slim profile so it easily fit in my media cabinet.
great product, a must have
Pros: solid construction
Very solid unit with a very low profile fits nice with my other AV equipment.
Pros: Does exactly what its advertised to do.
Cons: The bright blue display can be distracting there should be a dimmer option
This is my 2nd Panamax surger protector and I'm very happy with both of them.
Immediate results. Sub woofer tighter and without hum. Clean response. Highs smooth and sweeter. Remarkable difference.
Pros: Better sounding system at the minimum. Color of the music is noticeable.
I had a power surge at my apartment causing damage to some of my equipment which I had plugged into a cheap surge protector, so I purchased the Panamax. So far so good. Easy to install and it looks very good in my rack.
Pros: Easy to install. Peace of mind.
Great product. Nice to have all my equipment protected and the orange lights are pretty cool even though I keep them off. I wish the blue could be toned down a little bit though, gets awfully bright.
Pros: Everything is labeled for which device
Cons: Wish the blue could be toned back some
this unit definitely improved the sound quality of my system, gave me peace of mind in case of brownouts or lightning, and filters out dirty noise in the ac line making audio cleaner and better.these units are the most important part of any audio system and worth the money.im glad i purchased mine,i highly recommend it.
Pros: improved sound quality, the lights have come in handy to see my cd players function buttons, also having isolated outlet bank to reduce or eliminate cross talk between components for even better sound quality.
Didn't know these existed until I first saw the price reduction and then did the research. Cleaned up the area by removing traditional surge protection while providing insurance. I did not believe the comments about cleaning up the sound until I actually heard it. I was so impressed that I bought the 5100 for the main room.
Pros: Works like it says ! Which is getting to be a rarer comment given the direction of product quality
Cons: None so far
After upgrading my Home Theater system (new HDTV, A/V Receiver, Blu-ray Player, and Speakers) I needed to protect my investment. The Panamax M4300-PM provides that protection. It has all the features I was looking for in power management. Surge protection, power filtration, isolated banks, plus peace of mind. Who could ask for more?
Pros: High quality product.
Immediately, once you have setup the M4300, you will notice a major improvement in both picture and audio quality.
Pros: It get the job done
Cons: They're none
Great Product.....Great Price....I bought two of them.
I've been using Panamax surge protectors for 20 years and wouldn't have a system of any size without one. When I saw the price for this unit I couldn't believe it. I only wish it had a 12V trigger that comes with the higher priced models, but you can't beat the value for the price.
Pros: Uncompromised protection
Cons: No 12V trigger
EVERYTHING I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE, NICE LOOKING WELL BUILT, AND SO FAR, DOING IT'S JOB FLAWLESSLY.
Pros: SEE REVIEW
Cons: NONE THAT I CAN FIND
Excellent especially for the price. Replaced a standard surge protector strip with this. It not only made my picture a little better but increased the output of my receiver by 5db. Highly recommended. Hopefully I never have to find out how it protects against a large surge, but definitely worth the money for the piece of mind. As an electrician, I like the ability to see what voltage it is putting out.
Pros: Lights on front, plenty of outlets
Seems to do what it is supposed to and looks great! I'm not sure I noticed a huge difference in sound/picture, but some of my sub interference(hum) is definitely gone. Would buy again.
Pros: Sleek, Protects, warranty, sound, piece of mind
Cons: Nothing so far
This is the most important piece of equipment in your Home Theater system! The US power grid is not 100% stable. Brown-outs occur thousands of times a day throughout the country. The electricity coming into your residence is contaminated with nasties like EMI/RFI etc. A lightning strike or power surge a mile,5 miles even 10 miles away has the potential to destroy your A/V system. Can you replace your equipment for $175? Probably not. Six years ago a storm 7 miles from my residence sent a power surge into the PANAMAX line conditioner/surge suppressor in my A/V system. Not one piece of the connected equipment was damaged, although the PANAMAX was fried! I rest my case.
Pros: Superior audio and video quality.Power cords are neatly placed.Adjustable lighting makes it easy to see the controls on your A/V Receiver. Great price!
Very Good Price. If you have very good Electronic Gear be smart protect it. Thank you Crutchfield.
Totally as advertised. I had been having trouble with HDMI faults - several of them and some pixelization while watching blu ray movies. No more issues with HDMI and my TV looks better than ever. My receiver seems to have more power and my subwoofer hits a whole lot harder now. If you question your power even just a little bit, consider what you paid for your TV and the small cost of this unit - and get one. Might be one of the best purchases I have ever made.
Pros: Is everything it is advertised to be.
Cons: The only thing I wish it could do was the ability to dim the main display light, that's it!
Great sale price at $175.00
Pros: Compact size, front USB port and grounded front power outlet.
Cons: Does not have a dimmer for the voltage readout and no switch to turn completely off. Also has ugly amber front lighting that can be dimmed or turned off.
This unit looks so good on my TV stand along with my gears. I pluged the LCD TV and Denon receiver in it. The resolution of the TV looks a little more sharper. I bought electronic gears from Crutchfield since 1984, and I knew Crutchfield sell high quality products. I am happy with my purchase for this item.
Pros: It has an USB charger and a gaming outlet on the front panel.
I love the Panamax. It provides a sing place to plug everything not only does it provide surge protection but tidys up a mees of power cords.
Pros: Great Product at an afforadable price.
A Crutchfield advisor recommended purchasing this powerline conditioner for my home theater. I was on the fence about it given the price, but I had gotten good holiday deals for the other big components of my system, so I figured I could still fit this into my budget.
Overall, I definitely recommend the M4300-PM to anyone setting up a home theater system. It's built well and provides organization to all your power cords. The power outlet on the front of the unit is very practical, and I intend to use it often when I need juice for my laptop while it's streaming to the TV. The orange front lights are a cool-looking feature that actually comes in handy as well, especially if you have a dark room and need light to see the controls on your A/V receiver.
Pros: Provides clean power, keeps your system organized, and comes with convenient functions, e.g. front outlet and front lighting (which can be toggled to different brightness settings).
Cons: If you're just looking for a basic surge protector for your system, there is sure to be cheaper out there.
Great product that I got for a great price! Feels like I stole it from Crutchfield! Noticed a better picture and sound...not alot, but noticable to me. The hum in my powered subs is virtually gone (have a loose RCA that is the culprit) but the noise was cut down significantly. The amber and blue LEDs are a cool touch and I like how they can be dimmed or turned off.
Pros: Does what they claim it can do. Sort of a rarity now a days.
Nice unit, sturdy construction. Runs a little warm in my system but is a very nice additional. The downlights are a great touch and are useable in my system, however it would be nice so that they could be rotated to aim upwards or at angles. Would be great too if you could dim the main display but hey at the marked down price, it's good.
Pros: USB port on the front, good display, solid construction including long, beefy power cord.
Cons: None really.
If you have a nice system but are on the fence because of the "you don't need a power conditioner" rhetoric that exists out there in some corners of the A/V world, let me suggest to you that it is time to get off. Let's be honest, yes, you don't need it. But you don't "need" a nice system to begin with, do you? Or a hot wife/girlfriend? Or any number of things. No, since hooking it up, lightning hasn't struck my house or anything, putting my Panamax to its most extreme test. I have, however, noticed better picture and sound. It's subtle, but if I notice it...that's what counts. The main display shows you the deviation between what your utility company is pumping out of your outlet and into your swanky audio components and HDTV. Trust me, it ain't exactly 120 volts most of the time. Storms or no storms. The amber lights are cool, of course, and can be adjusted. The main blue lights can be dimmed, as well (and the middle one can be turned off entirely, if desired).
After unplugging my TV to plug it into the Panamax and then looking at the picture, I had to double check to see if my calibration-type settings had been reset (which would've been the TV's "fault" probably, rather than the Panamax's). Nope. They were the same. That "brighter" nicer-looking picture? That was simply the result of adding an M4300 to my system. I can only vouch for what it looked like in my basement: gorgeous. And THE SOUND. Played some music that had me in tears it was so nice. A worthwhile purchase.
Pros: Ease of setup. Looks. Noticeably improved picture and sound.
The M4300-PM is an additional unit for my home entertainment system, the other unit is a M5100-PM. I'm using the M4300-PM to power my subwoofer, stereo speakers, music hard drive and various accessories. It provides clean stable power as expected and there was a noticeable improvement in sound quality. The down lights are a nice touch but not everyone will be setup in a manner that allows them to take advantage of the downward lighting, in my case it is useful. However, it would be better if the unit had the same indicator light dimming capability that the M5100-PM features, which I feel is more useful as the blue indicator lighting is very bright.
Pros: Great performance for the dollar, worth the price when you want to protect your investment.
Cons: No way to dim bright indicator lighting.
This unit is a great little surge protector/power conditioner. To start, it just plain looks cool. It looks great with the cobalt blue display and the amber front panel convenience lights. But the true test is how well it protects your equipment while cleaning up muddy power. We have had a few storms pass through the area lately and all of my electronics have been well protected. We had some fluctuations in our lights as the storms passed but everything connected to the panamax stayed stable and happy. Just as important, the power conditioning has also improved the output of my equipment. The TV looks clearer and the sound of the surround sound is now crystal clear. I really believe if you are going to put money into a decent home theater system you need to put some money into protecting it from rogue power. This unit is well worth it's price.
Pros: Great surge protection and power conditioning, it will make your equipment look and sound better. Plus, the unit looks great.
Cons: None so far.
This thing is made like a tank! Nice long cord and ample space between the plugs. meter is great, plugged in a vacume cleaner in a nearby wall outlet and turned it on. You could actually see the voltage drop on the meter but never below 120. the led downlights are more for estetics than useful, but nothing wrong with that, in my opinion. looks very cool. AND a great price!
Pros: long cord, very well made, works great
Cons: it'd be nice to be able to dim blue meter a bit but not a big deal at all.
This Product is Awesome
Glad I purchased this. Been watching it for months! Hooked up my computer, tv, sound bar, ps2, xbox360, wii, comcast, everything to this device and everything fits just perfect. The display lights on the front are cool and the usb/outlet port on the front are also very handy. Haven't particuarly noticed the picture improving but I had pretty clear picture to start with. Happy with the purchase and its nice having a guarantee on all my electronics and a nice looking unit.
Pros: nice looking, 5mil guarantee, lots of outlets, convience ports
Cons: none so far
The Panamax M4300-pm an excellent purchase for the price. It is relatively small However is very accurate in the readings and the picture on my television has cleared up dramatically as did allot of the distortion on channels of the radio that I normally could not hear what was being played. A Thunderstorm's lightning strike hit close to home and the protection was definitely there; It cut off all power immediately & restored it back to normal use within seconds; all of my equipment was protected and I did not even have to reset the unit!! If you are looking for protection (up to 5 million dollars worth) the price and unit is an excellent value!!!
Pros: Enough Jacks for someone who has between 0-9 hookups and each are clearly labeled and fully functional the display is constantly giving an accurate reading as to the voltage coming out of the wall and the protection is definitely there!!
This is a nice piece of equipment. I had a significant amount of hum before I bought it and almost none now.
I was able to plug all my gear in without any problems with spacing.
Pros: M4300-PM does what it is supposed to do and fits well in the AV rack and the 2 auxiliary lights are cool.
When I moved to the Dickson, TN area I didn't realize I was moving to tornado and severe storm alley. I purchased one when I bought my new theater equipment for my new home and after a few storms bought a second for my other tv room. It give me a good piece of mind when a storm pops up and there's no way I can make it home to unplug equipment like I would normally do ..... and as I type this I can hear rain drops on my office roof. Time for another spring storm.
Pros: Great looking piece of equipment, Voltage reading and lighting options are very nice, Adds enough light in my movie room to move around safely with out turning on any additional room lights.
Cons: None that I can find
Well worth the peace of mind. The blue voltage display is quite cool also and will go well, aesthetically, with my Marantz receiver.
Cons: During the next bad thunder storm while I'm kicking back enjoying a good movie; let's hope not.
outstanding service from Crutchfield. excellent protection package for the device. music indeed gets richer. most importantly i got a peace in mind that electrical surge will be avoided to damage my instruments..
I have absolutely no way to verify the real power management benefits of the M4300 unless something bad happens to my power which I hope doesn't. The unit looks to be well made with a quality feel to the controls. I only have audio components hooked in so can't vouch for the video benefits to say a TV picture. Although the little spot lights look cool they serve no use at all unless you are able to position the 4300 right where they can shine on something. But for some users it might be a feature that really appeals if they can use only the soft light they provide to illuminate their system. Maybe if the light dial swiveled! So you could focus the light where you wanted.
Pros: Allows you to organize your components into one power source with all the plug ins available. And power everything off with one switch. I did see that running a small room heater really dropped the voltage down and now use a separate circuit to run the heater that doesn't affect the music system.
Cons: If you have plugs with black box integrated you'll find it hard to position them in the rear plugs and won't have as many plugs open as you thought
Great for your home theater system. It is a must to protect your investment.
complements the components well, seems to be doing the job...
Ratings for surge protectors are difficult, because you never know how they are doing until they fail. I am assuming that the protection is top notch if for no other reason then their warranty. What I can tell you for sure is that it will improve the performance of your gear by giving it clean power. You will notice it most in your picture quality, with the sound from my receiver being a close second. It is well worth the price. Break away from the strip models on the floor; you won't be sorry.
I ordered this product and it arrived in 2 days with free shipping! It was DOA and I called customer service which was the easiest experieince I have ever encountered with an RMA. They shipped a new product and I received it 2 days later. Thank you Crutchfield for Exceptional Service. This product is by far the easiest piece to add to your Home Theater that ensures your equipment will last a lifetime. I live in an area that experiences allot of lightening storms followed by brownouts and this has already paid for itself. I would definately recommend this to anyone that needs top-of-the-line protection for a budget minded price.
This thing is just what I needed. Very clean power protection. Crutchfield delivered
This unit is awesome. How could anyone not like it?
Just the piece of mind it gives makes it well worth the investment, not to
mention the cool lights!
Great Product! I'm a happy customer!
Crutchfield rocks!!! Thank you!
Great product. Works as advertised. Yes, the lights should face UP, not down. But this is a small design flaw on a terrific product. I do not believe advertising or comments that it will not make your system sound or look better, unless you are an ultra-purest in a acoustically perfect room. But this conditioner/surge protector will help to save your system from getting fried in a storm or cooked in a brownout. When spending $$$$ on quality components it behooves you to spend a few hundred on great protection.
I would put power conditioning in the same category as speakers... the wrong place to compromise when investing in a great home entertainment system. This model lives up to its promises with clean, very stable power output. You can see the difference. Only two minor annoyances (1) as a previous reviewer mentioned it would have been better with a 90 degree plug and (2) the built in lights shine down; in most installations the power conditioner is going to be below most of the equipment and the lights would actual be more useful if they faced upward. All in all a great product.
Two days after explaining to my wonderful bride why we need to spend money on this (Panamax 4300), we experienced an outage that fried our remote (charging base station) and cable box. We ended up purchasing this piece of equipment along with a new Harmony One remote. Both are fantastic! The amber lights on the front are very sexy!! It makes our system look awesome (not that you want to spend this much on lights, but it's a nice touch). I spoke with several local salesmen and they recommend this product over the Monster Surge protectors. Apparently the conditioning process and fusing protection in Panamax products beats out Monster. I got the feeling your buying a name with Monster vice a good product. I feel like we are more prepared now for both football season and electrical storms!!!
I have poor power quality at my condo so I was concerned about protecting my equipment from things other than surges. Brown outs, black outs, high frequency noise, frequecy/ waveform distortions, high rms voltage etc. etc. This unit protects me from all of my dirty power problems. The unit is shallow and makes stacking components difficult. Hiding the plug at the wall outlet is difficult because of the profile of the plug. A 90 degree plug would have made the installation much cleaner. All in all a good unit with a great warranty at a fair price.
After just two days here in Florida we had an extended brownout and this disconnected the power to my Niles ZR-6. It saved my equipment! Could not ask for more.
Oh yeah! You WILL use the plug on the front.
We have a lot of brown outs and power blips here. Usually the outages happen with several short ones over the span of 10 seconds. needless to say my electronic equipment goes wild. To date my luck has been holding and nothing major has been lost. But now that I have some more expensive toys, I thought I had not better press it any further. First reaction was how much the voltage changes during the day ... was really surprised. Once I was actually watching the big screen and three consecutive power blips occured. The voltage spiked from 145 to 130 each time. I was amazed that all componets kept functioning as though nothing had happened. I sleep a lot better now. If you have any high dollar stuff, you better get one of these before it is too late.
Layout of unit is straightforward and allows for dressing of AC cords
Filtration banks makes a big difference over basic suge protectors
Voltage protection circuitry makes a big difference-has already saved my new Bravia 52" during a FL lightning storm
High quality unit -- works exactly as described -- low profile and connectivity are perfect -- reasonable value for the $
I bought this to go along with my samsung blueray player, hd tv, dvr and bose surround sound. i spent quite a bit of money for my system and really wanted to keep everything safe. this product has done it's job. since i purchased the power saver we've had 2 power surges in my home. both times the product cut power to all of my gear and returned it immediately after the surge. saved me a lot of money. the only problem i've run into was when i routed my cable modem (to the internet) through the cable protecter. it would often cut the strength of my signal and sometimes cut it all together. i've since used it only to protect my tv gear and all is well. keeps everything neat looking too. over all... great piece of equipment!

9 AC Outlets: The Panamax M4300-PM features 1 front-panel "Always On" AC outlet, 4 rear-panel "Switched Linear Filtered" AC outlets, and 4 rear-panel "Switched High Current" AC outlets.
Level 2 Power Cleaning and Linear Filtration: The unit's Level 2 Power Cleaning and Linear Filtration eliminates common symptoms of contaminated power (including loss of detail, pops, hisses, hums and visual artifacts) and allows your A/V equipment to perform up to its full capability. Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) evenly eliminates noise across the entire bandwidth, ensuring peak audio and video performance by reducing harmonic distortion and improving the signal-to-noise ratio.
Automatic/Visual Voltage Monitoring Circuitry: Panamax's patent pending AVM circuitry continuously monitors the incoming power as displayed on the unit's digital voltmeter. In case of an undervoltage or an overvoltage, a flashing red lightning bolt will be displayed in the voltmeter, and power to the connected equipment is automatically turned off if either of these conditions is detected. When voltage returns to a safe level, power to the equipment is automatically reconnected.
Cross-Contamination Reduction: The M4300-PM is designed to provide noise isolation between 2 isolated outlet banks including 4 high current outlets so that any noise created by an A/V component can not contaminate the power going to equipment plugged into another outlet bank.
HD Ready Coax Jacks: The unit's coaxial protection circuits achieve optimum signal quality from newly designed connectors that have less than 0.5 dB of attenuation from 0Hz to 2.2GHz. The unit's clamping level of 75V will meet the demands of both cable and satellite voltage while minimizing exposure to damaging spikes and surges.
LAN/Phone Jacks: Protection circuits for 10/100 baseT Ethernet and standard telephone or pay-per-view lines. Phone circuit is auto-resetting. In-coming LAN or phone cords must be plugged into the "Line" jack. Patch cords to the equipment (satellite receiver, digital video recorder, telephone, computer, etc) must be plugged into the "Equip" jacks ( 2 Line in jack, 2 Equip jacks).
USB Charger: The M4300-PM features a front-panel USB type-A port for charging your MP3 player, cell phone, or other small electronic.
Digital Voltmeter: The M4300-PM features a front-panel Digital Voltmeter which monitors the voltage supplying your home theater equipment. If line voltage drops below 90VAC, or if the line voltage exceeds 142VAC, the display will turn off and the "unsafe voltage" indicator will flash indicating and unsafe voltage condition.
Outlet Bank Power LEDs: Each bank of outlets feature a corresponding Blue LED indicator. These LEDs indicate the status of the corresponding rear panel outlets. The LED will be lit when the outlets are turned On. They will flash during the startup and shutdown process.
Front Panel Lights: The M4300-PM is equipped with two switchable convenience lights to view your media and home theater system in the dark.
Circuit Breaker: A circuit breaker is located on the back panel of the M4300-PM. The circuit breaker will trip only if the total current draw exceeds the maximum current rating (15A). This means that collectively, all outlets must draw more than 15 amps before the circuit breaker will trip.
$5,000,000 Lifetime Connected Equipment Warranty: Panamax will replace, pay to replace at fair market value, or pay to repair, up to $5,000,000 of equipment that is damaged by an AC surge while connected to a properly installed Panamax surge protector, if the surge protector shows signs of surge damage or is operating outside of design specifications. For coverage conditions and information on how to make a claim, please see the warranty sheet.
