Our take on the Panamax MD2

Don't let a lack of space keep you from protecting your gear with a quality surge suppressor. The compact MD2 plugs right into a standard AC wall outlet, and has two AC outlets placed on the sides to allow space-saving connections. You can plug in a TV and Blu-ray player and keep your furniture close to the wall, or protect a couple small appliances on your kitchen counter. The MD2 is also a smart choice to use with chargers for your cell phone or portable player. Panamax's dependable noise filtering ensures that your equipment gets only clean power.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I only needed 1-2 oulets for under my desk, and this is the perfect fit. I've owned Panamax products for many years and have experienced many lightning storms and power fluctuations, and never had a single issue with anything (so I guess they are working as they should). Didn't even look at any other brands - I trust Panamax.

Pros: Perfect Size

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This item fits perfectly between the supports of my Sanus LT25-B1 wall mount and behind my 70" Vizio. Initially, I wanted to use a Panamax In-wall surge protector but my house wiring made it difficult, so I settled on this product. I was relieved when it fit perfectly behind the tv. Green function light is a nice touch.

Pros: Great size, nice green running light.

Cons: None so far.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works as advertised. It's a nice low profile unit that holds itself into the outlet. You can remove and paint the outside over - which is a nice feature - but it would be really nice if they offered it in black. (like most theater room ceilings are painted)

Pros: Works as advertized.

Cons: Wish it came in black. (without having to paint)

Works as advertised

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The weight of the surge protector makes it at least seem as if you are paying for some protective circuitry. Slim profile fits well against the wall behind a book case with side mounted outlets allowing cords to come out through the sides. Having never had issues with surges in the past, I can't say if the pricey cost of this for only two protected outlets is justified. It would be nice if the unit had 4 outlets, which it looks like there's space for.

Pros: Good sleek profile fits along walls well and behind furniture.

Cons: Only two outlets, price.

Panamax is a MUST to protect your equipment

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased quite a few of these individual outlet surge suppressors for equipment. I am very happy with the Panamax brand and can feel safe and comfortable knowing that these suppressors will do their job in protecting my equipment. I learned the hard way by losing over $5,000 worth of equipment due to severe lightning strikes. The equipment I lost was all the equipment I never had surge suppressors on, so take my loss as a lesson, and get protected, ESPECIALLY if you life in Florida... the lightning capital of the world. I am also very happy with the service I received from Crutchfield. HIGHLY recommended.

Why did you buy this?

My manager had ordered a few before for the lab I am in and I needed one more for a select instrument. [ DANIEL SLOAN C/  Jan 18, 2016 ]
Looking for protection and interference protection for my new tv. [ Dominick  Dec 29, 2015 ]

I use this specifically for my Epson pro 6020 projector. It has been in place for two years and 2 power outages. Can I see an improved picture, hard to say over my monster cable that was previously installed. I use this in all my theater installs. [ Robert  Mar 04, 2016 ]
I have been very happy with it. I have my iMac plugged into it. I have a bunch of the Panamax big distribution boxes on each on my tv/receivers which I am also very happy with. The audio company that installed our surround sound said that Panamax is one of the best on the market. [ Michael  Mar 04, 2016 ]
I have had mine feed my receiver and it has been happily noise free. I have to assume it would work as well in a home theater application. Brian [ BRIAN  Jan 20, 2015 ]
Not sure if it will help with interference. I use mine behind my wall mounted television. [ PHILIP  Jan 20, 2015 ]
I don't see why it wouldn't, as long as your fridge pulls 15A or less. You should probably ask Panamax your question directly, because they're the only ones that will be able to speak definitively about what this is rated for. Also, I'd read the both the manual for your refrigerator and the one for the surge protector carefully before relying on it. Your fridge's manual may say something about being plugged directly into a receptacle, and I don't think this would count (if the event you were challenged during a warranty claim). If you're that worried about surge protection for your fridge, you should probably install a receptacle or a surge breaker for the circuit your fridge is connected to. [ Todd  Nov 14, 2014 ]
It will act as a surge protector for any electronic device. However this item is more or less intended to be used in sensitive electronics such as a/v equipment where interference can diminish your experience. [ KYLE J  Nov 14, 2014 ]
