The H7150 series kicks off with the 46" UN46H7150. Those looking for high performance and a flat screen — as opposed to a curved screen — should definitely check out this series. Visually, it's stunning, with an ultra-slim bezel that creates a virtually edgeless look that makes the picture seem even larger. That and the "sled-style" stand instantly grab your attention, but what happens on-screen when you power it up is even more interesting.
The UN46H7150's LED backlight employs Samsung's Micro Dimming Pro technology to produce a more accurate picture. The TV divides the image into multiple areas and applies the correct contrast levels to each area. You'll see a wide range of light levels from bright white to deep black, as well as a nearly infinite number of shades in between. The LED backlight is a high-speed scanning design, which works along with the 240Hz screen refresh rate to virtually eliminate motion blur.
Get ready for a vivid, razor-sharp picture in 2D or 3D. Just slip on a pair of the included glasses to enjoy a deeper view, and not just with true 3D video sources — switch on the TV's 2D-to-3D conversion for added depth with regular 2D video. And even if 3D doesn't appeal to you right now, this set still deserves consideration if picture quality is your number one priority. It's that good.
The UN46H7150 is smarter than the average Smart TV thanks to its speedy quad-core processor. A new Multi-Link feature lets you place live TV side-by-side with other apps, like YouTube™ or a web browser — you can browse the web without having to interrupt what you're watching. The Dual Screen feature splits the screen into dual windows so you can view two sources at once.
There's a cool screen mirroring feature that turns your compatible smartphone or tablet into a second TV. Whatever appears on the TV screen is streamed via Wi-Fi to your device. If you need to leave the room — like, maybe to fix a sandwich — you won't have to leave your entertainment behind. It's like a whole-house television system you can hold in your hand.
Reason #1: Awesome picture quality. The LED backlights in these higher-end LCD TVs can give you better picture contrast and more lifelike colors than sets with typical fluorescent backlighting. Reason #2: They're more energy-efficient than plasma or regular LCD TVs, helping you lower your monthly electric bill and helping the environment.
It's been about 3 weeks and I smile every time I turn on this TV. Very excellent picture and sound in our room. We sit head on within 10 feet and the 46" is a big as we would ever want. We are taking our signal over the air and streaming from our WiFi. The "SmartHub" and the remote are user friendly and effective. The regular remote is equally user friendly. Streaming loads pretty quickly and we have not experienced any glitches. One caveat - this is a TV that needs to be watched head on. The picture quality degrades (crisp colors turns progressively more white) past 10 or 2 on the clock face if the TV centerline is 12. Still watchable but without the near perfect natural colors. Faces are incredibly real and nature scenes are as if looking out our own clean window - even the cats has noticed. Of all the default settings available, I have I've only tweaked the face color tones and primarily use "Clear Voice" as our sound preference.
Set up was easy with all the parts included. A tip to install the stand - screw the brackets into the stand first then lay the TV on its face on a blanketed coffee table to attach the assembly - easy and safe (this Tv is a true lightweight - even with the stand its less than 28lbs).
The TV was ordered on a Saturday and delivered 3 business days later - Wednesday! Crutchfield team was responsive to all my e-mails and inspire great confidence. Pretty happy with the product and the process.
Pros: All good - picture quality is amazingly real and the sound is good even without enhancement.
Cons: Best picture when watching from directly in front. Not a con really but one should be aware.
this tv out performs my other 3 Samsung HDTVs. all are hi-end Samsung units but 2 to 3 yrs old. The remote control pointer will come in very handy when surfing the web. Its like using a mouse.
Pros: excellent picture, remote pointer
The TV has a good picture, very clear. The setup was extremely easy.
Pros: Very Clear, TV setup is easy, 3D view is amazing (comes with 3D glasses) Internet setup not difficult.
Cons: Stand is little cheap.
Very easy setup. Nice having 2 remote controls.
Pros: Excellent picture & Sound
Cons: No cons yet.
Pros: Looks and performance
Key idea: Work with Crutchfield Technical support to set it up. I bought it with a Samsung sound bar (H 450) and it was a bear to learn how to set them both up and coordinate. I should have relied more on Crutchfield techies, but I called Samsung and got caught up in overseas tech awfulness. I have the sense that when things settle down and I've figured it all out, I'll love it. Also setting up smart features was crazy. Various apps require users and passwords to connect with one's previously set up accounts--Amazon, Vudu, etc. Some of them have codes obtainable online, others you actually have to type in using the awful TV keyboard. I tried hooking up a usb keyboard but it didn't work.
Pros: Great picture, lots of great smart features
Cons: smart features sometimes arduous to set up. Difficult to coordinate with sound bar from same manufacturer.
Very easy setup GREAT picture and the 2d to 3d is a plus.
Pros: Smart Hub remote is easy to use 3D is awesome Super Picture
Cons: I wish it had a built in webcam for skype
Very easy to set up. The picture quality is unbelievable, I had a Vizio and the difference is highly noticeable. Great to search the Web and Netflix.
Pros: Easy set up, picture and sound quality
Got the TV on time and in great condition. First problem was with attaching the stand. There are two aluminum brackets with 4 threaded holes each. You're supposed to attach the stand to the brackets with 8 of the included 12 screws. The problem is that the supplied screws are for sheet metal and have a different thread pitch than the threads in the aluminum brackets. They should have supplied 8 machine screws, specifically, M4 0.7 L14. Those thread perfectly. I had to go to my local hardware place to buy them myself for a few bucks. Had to get M4 0.7 L16 since they had no M4 0.7 L14 screws, but the extra 2 mm in length wasn't a problem. Four of the supplied sheet metal screws were able to be used to attach the brackets to the TV since the holes were smooth plastic.
The "smart" features are horrendous. The apps are buggy and slow, and make the quad core CPU seem brain dead. I'm praying it might improve with future software updates, but I'm not holding my breath. Even navigating the TV settings menus is slow and sporadically responsive.
But the picture itself is what really matters, and that is top notch. At least in 2D. I have not tried the 3D yet. For the detail conscious, my TV was made in June 2014, and has a TS01 "version number" in the back label. I've read that the TS01 refers to the display and this one is made by Samsung, which is supposed to mean it is higher quality. So far I have no complaints about the display.
Pros: Great display. Beautiful looking and thin TV.
Cons: Stand could not be attached without buying the right screws. Smart features need a huge amount of work to be usable without endless annoyance.
Love the picture. great TV, right size for room
very stisfie with the product
Pros: picture quality,size, thiness
It took me much more effort to find the proper settings to make this TV look good, unlike my Sony KDL-47W802A. Some of the video processing features had to remain on in order to get the equivalent image quality I get from my Sony with those similar features turned off. The contrast is stronger than on my TV, the image noise needed filtering on the Samsung, while on my Sony it didn't. Some channels seemed worse than others and I noticed some noise in the blue sky of one channel. I saw plenty of noise around fonts and symbols also, and they seemed come and go, very odd . It seems to come down to Sony's better processing of video signals. Both TV's were compared on the same channels, all channels using HD. As a Smart TV the Samsung outdoes the Sony very well. You can use split screen to watch TV and surf the web, the web being very fast and very similar to using a computer. I hope to find calibration settings for the TV that are helpful, as I have tried one already from LCD Buying Guide, but that was not very good. The Samsung had less uniformity issues with only a very slight bloom on the bottom left of the screen, nothing like the terrible effects I got from my Sony along with very noticeable flashlight effects; which I resolved by massaging the screen and loosening the bolts on the back of the TV. In the end each has its drawbacks, but as a person who studied photography and is used to examining images, I still like my Sony better, both for image and build quality
Pros: Great Smart TV and Remote
Cons: Image noise, image quality, cheap overall feel
It's everything I wanted in a HDTV
Pros: Easy to use and an excellent picture. I'm very happy with it so far!
Great picture. Narrow frame means that it takes less space while providing a large, clear, image.

LED Edge-Lighting w/ Micro Dimming Pro: Samsung's LED Edge-Lighting technology w/ Micro Dimming Pro maximizes the contrast between lights and darks to create a picture that is as true-to-life as possible. The television's white LEDs are arranged along the left and right edges of the screen and a proprietary light guide is used to focus its luminance inwards towards the middle of the screen for a more uniform brightness. Samsung's innovative Micro Dimming Pro technology scans zones across the image and adjusts brightness to deliver deeper, darker tones and brighter whites. It also eliminates the "halo" effect and any kind of image distortion that can happen with diffused lights. The result is a picture rich with vivid detail and accurate color reproduction.
Ultra Clear Panel: Sometimes you can't keep sunlight or house lights from shining right on your TV screen. With Samsung's Ultra Clear Panel, you can still get an amazing picture even with reflective light. Ultra Clear Panel absorbs most ambient light and virtually eliminates reflections. Ultra Clear Panel also helps make colors more vibrant with deeper blacks and enhanced contrast for crisper images and excellent shadow detail.
Clear Motion Rate 960: Clear Motion Rate (CMR) is Samsung's more comprehensive and accurate measure for how well the LED-LCD TV can display fast-moving images. Previously, motion clarity was expressed simply by the refresh rate, measured in Hz. CMR, however, takes into account all three factors that contribute to motion clarity: panel refresh rate, image processor speed and backlight technology. CMR is measured by determining the thinnest line a TV can display in a moving image. The thinner the line, the higher the CMR rating, and the clearer the picture you'll enjoy on the screen.
Auto Motion Plus: Auto Motion Plus removes blur and judder from scenes with large amounts of rapid movement to provide a clearer picture. Auto Motion Plus reduces blur so that action movies, sports and video games have enhanced clarity. Advanced panels and unique backlight technology combine with proprietary algorithms to reduce the response time and yield a more accurate image reproduction with faster onscreen motion. Auto Motion Plus can be set to Clear, Standard, Smooth, Custom, or Off.
Wide Color Enhancer Plus + Motion Lighting: With Wide Color Enhancer Plus, you'll witness a wider spectrum of colors on the TV screen, just like the director intended. You'll enjoy enriched colors while watching your favorite movies, and shows, even if it's older, non-HD content. The TV automatically adjust the brightness of the screen in response to the brightness of the room. In bright light, the screen brightens. In dim light, the screen dims.
1080p Resolution: The LED-LCD television displays all inputs at a resolution of 1080p (1920 x 1080). The television's HDMI and component video inputs will accept 1080p (24/60Hz), 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i video signals.
Note: The TV has built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) and Digital Cable (QAM) tuners with an RF-coaxial input, so you don't need a separate set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV or unencrypted Digital Cable signals.
Full HD 3D (2 Pair of Glasses Included): The Samsung LED-LCD TV offers Full HD (1080p) 3D capability. Samsung 3D TV utilizes Bluetooth-enabled active shutter glasses for a full 1080p 3D viewing experience when coupled with a 3D source, such as a 3D-ready Blu-ray player or an HD 3D broadcast from satellite or cable providers (connected via HDMI 1.4). The Samsung 3D TV also offers a unique feature that allows you to intensify your 2D viewing experience by up-converting it to virtual 3D. In addition, you can adjust the overall 3D perspective, 3D image depth, and 3D brightness.
Note: Samsung 3D TV supports Full HD 3D for 1920 x 1080p (24/60Hz), 1920 x 1080i (60Hz), or 1280 x 720 (60Hz) video signals.

You can switch the audio between the main screen and sub-screen.
DTS Premium Sound: The Samsung LED-LCD TV employs DTS Studio Sound processing with DTS TruSurround and DTS TruDialog which will decode DTS-encoded content, such as TV programming, Blu-ray movies, and streaming media, as well as processes stereo content to deliver an optimized virtual surround sound experience with enhanced bass response, clear dialog, and consistent volume levels through the TV speakers.

Audio Settings: The Samsung TV offers a variety of audio adjustments to meet your listening needs.
Audio Outputs: The Samsung LED-LCD television provides an analog and digital audio output.
ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel in HDMI 1.4 enables a TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, HDMI inputs, or any analog connected device to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input. The audio from the TV's tuner, network connection, and USB port can pass as Dolby Digital or 2ch PCM. HDMI and analog connected devices will be output as 2ch PCM only.
Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an A/V receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI 2 input. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary.
SoundShare: The TV is compatible with the SoundShare feature found on some Samsung active soundbar speaker systems). SoundShare makes a wireless connection between the TV and the speaker system via Bluetooth. Once the two are paired, you can control the volume and mute the sound by using the remote control from the TV or the speaker system. If you change the soundbar speaker system from TV mode to another mode or turn it off, the TV audio will resume playing from the TV's speakers. SoundShare can be found on select Samsung active soundbar speaker systems (sold separately).

The bottom of the screen is about 2" off the cabinet, so it's not totally flush, but close. We're currently not using a sound bar with the set, though. (It's in our bedroom and I didn't want to deal with it.) [ Jeffrey A. Jun 08, 2014 ]
I suggest installing the TV before you purchase a sound bar. We found the TV sound quality to adequate for our needs. [ Dale Jun 08, 2014 ]
