Picture depth has always been a strength of plasma TVs. Samsung's PN51E7000 creates vibrant, engaging images whether you're watching 2D or 3D video. 3D certainly makes you feel more a part of the on-screen action, but 3D content is still kind of scarce. Here's the deal: the PN51E7000 is ready anytime you decide to pick up a pair or two of Samsung's active glasses and start enjoying 3D. In the meantime you'll have an outstanding TV for all of your 2D viewing.
When you connect to your broadband Internet service you'll see why Samsung calls this a Smart TV. Built-in web apps let you instantly watch movies streamed from Netflix®, or catch up on TV shows you missed with Hulu Plus™. There's tons more to explore, and if your PC is networked you can even search through the video and music you've stored on it using the TV's remote. This set's built-in Wi-Fi® gives you another way to take advantage of your wireless network.
Tip: For a list of over-the-air digital TV stations you can receive, as well as antenna recommendations for your location, enter your zip code in AntennaWeb's mapping tool.
If you're into picture quality, and you want a cinema-like home viewing experience, you owe it to yourself to check out plasma for your next TV. Plasma holds the edge when it comes to smooth motion and rich colors high-def movies and TV shows look effortlessly real. Plasma's superior picture contrast and deep black levels are best enjoyed in rooms without a lot of windows or lamps, where you can dim or darken the lights.
Picure is excellent and sound is better than I expected. The menu navigation is cumbersome and it is difficult(for me) to find the advanced picture settings. For some functions you have to go to the e-manual to access them. Connecting to the network via wi-fi was easy and response is fast. The only REAL problem I've encountered so far is the fact that it is not possible to update Adobe Flash Player to the lastest version (10). This means you can't watch ESPN3 sports events(and others). Haven't tried a 3D Blueray disc yet but the 2D to 3D option was not memorable, just OK.
Pros: Picture Sound Browser response
Cons: Flash Player not updatable(maybe in future)
This was a replacement for my 7 year old Samsung Plasma, I am completely blown away by the picture in comparison. The 3D is quite impressive as well, the sound is slightly hollow to my ears but since the TV is so thin I guess they can't put much of a speaker in it. The digital audio out to my hose sounds superb, the TV set up was fairly straight forward & once the picture was adjusted I was very happy with my purchase. I was also pleasantly surprised how thin & light this is compared to my old plasma screen. The TV starts fairly quick and is very quiet as well. You just can't see to wrong with a Samsung plasma panel. We chose plasma over LED due to the fast refresh rates and over richness of color. Video gaming is top notch on plasma.
Pros: Light, excellent picture, quiet, 3D, great value.
Cons: Sound is a little thin.
I am so happy with this TV. I went from a 5 year old top of the line 40" Samsung to this one. A perfect upgrade to what I had. I ordered it just before Crutchfield ran out of them. Lucky?
Pros: 3D Picture, Sound, Design
Cons: The stand--but it's OK
I am extremely satisfied with my purchase of the PN51E700 flat screen Plasma TV. It is everything I wanted and more. The picture quality is amazing and the overall design is very pleasing. It completes my home theater
Pros: Excellent picture, easy set up and manageable remote.
Cons: As with all new wide screen TVs, the sound is really not up to the quality of the screen. That's a given. I will use a sound bar for normal viewing rather than using my large home theater installation.
I have only had TV setup for about a week, but it has a much better picture than the LCd tv it replaced. Probably should have went with 60" but wife said no :(
Pros: Great picture/great price
Last week we purchased a 55" Samsung 7000 series LED 240HZ tv. The picture, what we thought should be great, was just terrible. The HZ just can not keep up with the larger tv's, If you want a tv 50" or larger, you need to get a plasma, and Samsung is the choice. We bought this particular Samsung, basically because we used to have the 60" version. I cant say enough about it, its perfect in all aspects. It's slick with the chrome border, awesome 3D, and overall, it has such a smooth picture. You will NOT be disappointed. Don't hesitate on purchasing this tv.
Pros: Crisp, smooth picture. Very easy to use.
Cons: Have yet to find anything bad about it.
Great TV and Crutchfield had it on sale for a pretty great price. Have not noticed any glare issues, but we have it in a dark room. Great picture quality. Sound quality is good, but the volume does not project as well as would hope, however it is about par with other large TVs.
Pros: Picture quality, additional features (smart TV)
Cons: Sound projection
other than some speaker distortion when listening to the breaking bad theme song- this tv rocks!
Cons: some speaker distortion when watching tv with bass-heavy audio
After a great deal of research, including reading the reports from the independent product research folks who prefer to keep their name withheld, I settled on Samsung for my HDTV. I was already set on plasma because of picture quality, knowing full-well about the glare and potential for burn-in. Since I always keep my living room dark for TV viewing, I opted for the better picture and I know how to prevent burn-in. Additionally, I had read that Samsung's plasma has out-performed Panasonic with respect to burn-in and "banding" issues. One caveat I read repeatedly in user reviews (though, not mentioned in the independent report) was a persistent buzz from this set. I could only make out a tiny (normal) buzz if I cranked the volume to 100% and only when my head was at the exact same height as the bottom of the set. Otherwise, internal sound is very good with just a little trouble on the low end. I did not want the 3D feature, but I did take it for a spin. It worked relatively well, but I found that I needed to block out my peripheral vision to avoid eye strain. Normal viewing is amazing even on the Energy Star setting. The set is fairly straightforward and the remote is somewhat easy to use when looking at it. The remote lacks tactile features that let you distinguish some buttons in the dark, but has a brief night light function to help. The Samsung internet apps are ok, but need some developmental improvement for functionality as well as speed.
Pros: Amazing picture, great motion handling, resists burn-in with builtin pixel shift features, and doesn't suffer from banding Very easy to set up without the manual Thin and lightweight Illuminated remote Anynet+ feature integrates with other devices Internet updating of TV firmware
Cons: Remote layout is not easily read by touch - especially around the D-pad Samsung needs to improve the Smart Hub apps. Some, like the Netflix app, are slow to respond and have other usability issues.
I previously owned Sony's top of the line LCD TV. The picture was great, but the 3D was marginal and strained my eyes. With this TV, I got everything. A great picture and awesome 3D with no eyestrain. I am very pleased with this purchase and plan to keep this TV for a long time. Thank you to Crutchfield for offering such a great product at such a reasonable price!
Pros: Great 3D, Great Picture, Plenty of menu options for customization.
Cons: Don't like the base. Needs a flat base
The PN51E7000 is a great value. The picture quality is great. We have a large room with a very high ceiling and the room is relatively dark. No issue with natural light glare. The color is vivid and the darks are amazing. Lee from Crutchfield was spot on with his recommendation.
I buy a new TV about every 8 to 10 years, so I look for whats really close to top of the line in quality and performance. I believe this plasma tv fits the bill. Love the ability to surf the web on the tv without my PC attached. Picture is amazing, haven't tried 3D as that was just a side bonus, really wanted the 1080P and 600hrz for clarity and motion. I've watched about a dozen action movies and they all look spectacular. One note, the way my room is set up there is no direct sunlight on the tv as it is at a 90 degree angle from the windows. I also don't watch much tv during the day since I'm at work so the whole conversation around the screen reflecting light, etc. has nott been an issue. I coupled this TV with a Samsung BR player and a Samsung reciever. They all communicate and it makes using 1 remote very easy to set up since it does most of the work for you.
Pros: Amazing picture, ability to surf the web, netflix and other apps, cool factor, light weight and thin
Cons: none really although takes a bit to figure out all the things it'll do. I'm sure reading the manual would have helped :-) but then, I'm a guy.

Real Black Pro Panel: The Samsung E7000 series Plasma TV offers high-performance picture quality with Real Black Pro Panel. An advancement within the panel structure of the plasma TV and a software improvement that depicts blacker blacks, bolder color, higher contrast and exceptional picture quality. This technological improvement provides a more cinematic viewing experience.
Wide Color Enhancer Plus: Wide Color Enhancer Plus allows you to see picture color the way the director originally intended. Witness the entire RGB spectrum brought to life on your screen to bring you exceptionally vibrant, yet natural-looking images faithful to the director's original intent.
600Hz Subfield Motion: The Samsung E7000 series Plasma TV features 600Hz Subfield Motion technology with a fast 0.001ms response time that minimizes blurring of fast motion in sports programming and movie content. The 600Hz Subfield Motion technology makes action more life-like and natural looking. Action scenes and sporting events are crisp, clear and picture perfect. 600Hz Subfield Motion flashes a single image up to 600 times a second creating unprecedented picture quality. Contours are crisper and scrolling text sharper; no matter how fast images are moving. Fast action scenes are both clear with rich deep color detail.
Cinema Smooth: Movies are shot at 24 fps (frames per second); Cinema Smooth is a refined playback process of 24p movies from Blu-ray and Satellite TV sources that accurately converts and displays content originally shot on film at 24fps as compared to the 30fps of DVD and Blu-ray disc. This allows for smoother motion scenes when watching sources shot at the standard movie rate of 24fps.
HDTV Tuner: The TV has built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) and Digital Cable (QAM) tuners, so you don't need a separate set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV or unencrypted Digital Cable signals.
1080p Resolution: The Samsung E7000 series Plasma TV displays all inputs at a resolution of 1080p (1920 x 1080). The television's HDMI and component video inputs will accept 1080p (24/60Hz), 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i video signals.
HDMI (MHL) Port: The HDMI 3 port is designed for the connection of select mobile phones and other portable electronic devices using the new MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) standard. Simply plug your MHL compatible smartphone into the TV's HDMI 3 (MHL) port using the HDMI cable that is included with your mobile phone. MHL allows you to display full 1080p video and still images on the Samsung TV from your mobile smartphone. The TV's IR remote can be used to control basic playback functions (such as Play/Pause, Stop Fast Forward/Rewind, and Menu navigation). Your MHL compliant device will also charge while connected to the TV's HDMI 3 port. To find MHL-certified devices, go to www.mhlconsortium.org.
Full HD 3D (via HDMI 1.4): The Samsung E7000 series Plasma TV offers Full HD (1080p) 3D capability. Samsung 3D TV utilizes Bluetooth-enabled active shutter glasses (two pair included) for a full 1080p 3D viewing experience when coupled with a 3D source, such as a 3D-ready Blu-ray player or an HD 3D broadcast from satellite or cable providers (connected via HDMI 1.4). The Samsung E7000 series Plasma TV automatically adjusts the overall picture to provide an optimal 3D effect. The Samsung 3D TV also offers a unique feature that allows you to intensify your 2D viewing experience by up-converting it to virtual 3D. In addition, you can adjust the overall 3D perspective (+/-5) and overall 3D image depth (1-10). Samsung 3D TV supports Full HD 3D for 1920 x 2205p (24Hz) or 1280 x 1470p (60Hz) video signals; and virtual 3D for 1920 x 1080p (24/30/60Hz), 1920 x 1080i (60Hz), or 1280 x 720p (60hz) video signals. The Samsung E7000 series Plasma TV offers various 3D modes to match your 3D viewing needs.
Note: 2010 Samsung IR 3D glasses and3D glasses from other manufacturers are not compatible. Some 3D modes may not be available depending on the format of the image source. PIP, Auto Program, and some Picture Adjustment functions will also be disabled in 3D mode.
Included 3D Glasses (2 pair): The Samsung E7000 series Plasma TV includes two pair of 3D active glasses with built-in Bluetooth. Samsung's 3D Active Glasses (SSG-3050GB) offer a comfortable fit through its lightweight frame and flexible noise- and ear-pieces. The Samsung 3D Active Glasses are powered by a single CR2025 3V lithium coin-type battery (pre-installed). The battery can last up to 150 hours when powered on. The Samsung's 3D Active Glasses provide a viewing range between 6' and 19.5' from the Samsung 3D-ready TV.
Note: If the 3D glasses move outside of the recommended operating distance, the signal from the TV will be disconnected and the display of the 3D glasses will turn off after several seconds. If you lie on your side while watch TV with 3D glasses, the picture may look dark or may not be visible. When viewing 3D video under fluorescent lighting (50-60Hz), you may notice a small amount of screen flickering.

Note: Screen Size settings can be stored for each external device you have connected to an input of the TV.

BD Wise: BD Wise provides the optimal picture quality for Samsung DVD, Blu-ray, and Home Theater products which support BD Wise. When BD Wise is set to On, the TV's picture mode is automatically changed to the optimal resolution.
Anti Burn-In Technology: To reduce the possibility of screen burn-in, this Plasma TV is equipped with screen burn-in prevention technology. Samsung's Anti-burn-in technology uses auto pixel shift and signal pattern processing functions to ensure that no images are burned into the plasma panel. The Time setting allows you to program the time between movement of the picture in minutes.
PIP (Picture-in-Picture): You can watch the TV's tuner and one external video source simultaneously. The TV channel will be displayed in a sub-screen which can be moved to each corner of the television's screen. You can switch the audio between the main screen and sub-screen.
|Main Picture||Sub Picture|
|External Input: Component or HDMI||TV: Antenna input|
Note: PIP does not function in the same mode.
SRS TruSurround HD: SRS TruSurround HD is a patented SRS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over two speakers. TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround sound experience through any two-speaker playback system, including the internal television speakers. It is fully compatible with all multichannel formats.

Equalizer: You can manually adjusts the TV's built-in 5-band EQ (100 Hz, 300 Hz, 1 kHz, 3 kHz, and 10 kHz) for a more customized sound.
Auto Volume: Auto Volume automatically adjusts the volume of the desired channel, lowering the sound output when the modulation signal is high or raising the sound output when the modulation signal is low. This reduces the difference in volume when changing channels. The Auto Volume feature can be set to Normal, Night or Off.
Audio Delay: The Audio Delay function corrects audio/video mismatch, when watching TV or video, and listening to a digital audio output using an external device such as an AV receiver. You can adjust the audio delay from 0ms to 250 ms.
Digital Audio: The optical digital output terminal will output Dolby Digital (when available) or 2 channel PCM. The digital optical output terminal only sends an audio signal in Dolby Digital when receiving Dolby Digital surround sound from a digital broadcast channel through the tuner on the Plasma TV. The optical digital audio output will only output in 2ch stereo from sources connected to the TV via HDMI, RCA, or USB.
ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel in HDMI 1.4 enables a TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, HDMI inputs, or any analog connected device to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input. The audio from the TV's tuner, network connection can pass as Dolby Digital or 2ch PCM. HDMI, USB, and analog connected devices will be output as 2ch PCM only.
Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an A/V receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI 2 input. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary.
Network Connection (wired/wireless): You can set up the Samsung E7000 series Plasma TV so that it can access your home network and online Samsung Apps through your local area network (LAN) using a wired (RJ-45 Ethernet) or wireless connection (built-in WiFi). You can setup a wired network connection automatically or manually. You can setup the wireless network connection using these four methods; PBC (WPS), Auto Network Search, One Foot, or Manually.
Note: The TV's built-in WiFi supports IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN networks and WEP (open/shared), WPA-PSK (TKIP/AES), WPA2-PSK (TKIP/AES) network security.
WiFi Direct: When using WiFi Direct, you can connect directly with other devices without using a wireless router. You'll be able to wirelessly transfer personal content (such as photos & videos) to the Samsung Plasma TV without connecting to your home network. WiFi Direct completely bypasses your WiFi access point/router, so it's easy to set up. Streaming of copy-protected content and other certain formats are not supported.
AllShare/DLNA Certified: The Samsung E7000 series Plasma TV's AllShare function, along with its DLNA Certification allow you to watch videos (DIVX/MPEG/H.264/WMV), photos (JPEG/PNG/BMP/MPO)), and listen to music (MP3/WMA/AAC/FLAC/OGG) saved on your Windows PC (or other DLNA Certified media server) through the TV via its Ethernet (LAN) port or built-in WiFi (wireless). This eliminates the need to copy your photo, video, and music files to a separate USB storage device.
Note: Windows PCs with XP and Vista installed require Samsung's PC Share Manager software, which can be downloaded for free at www.samsung.com. Not compatible with older Windows OS versions and Mac.
Samsung's Dual Core Processor: Samsung's Dual Core's processing speeds allow you to perform multiple tasks at the same time, such as using an app while downloading another one.
