Some things are worth the wait. Samsung's 55" UN55F9000 isn't the first 4K Ultra High Definition TV, but it's definitely the most versatile. It offers the super-sharp 3840 x 2160-pixel picture detail that other 4K TVs do. That's four times the resolution of a regular "full HD" 1080p TV. And Samsung made sure that their video processing, connections, and LED backlight are equally state-of-the-art.
As Samsung was developing the video processing circuitry for the UNF9000 models, they made 4K upconversion a top priority. True 4K content will be scarce for a while, but that won't keep you from enjoying the spectacular picture this TV produces. Samsung's Super Resolution Engine automatically upconverts any signal to match the screen's 4K resolution. All of your current video sources — Blu-ray player, cable or satellite TV box, game console — will look better than ever.
The UN55F9000 includes Samsung's One Connect Box, which has inputs for your video components. A single cable connects the box to the TV, for a clean, uncluttered look. As new 4K standards emerge, the box can be upgraded to maintain compatibility.
Instead of connecting your Blu-ray player, cable box, and other sources to the TV itself, you connect them to Samsung's One Connect switching hub, which is included with each UNF9000 TV. It has four HDMI inputs, two USB ports, an Ethernet port, and an antenna jack. A single cable connects this box to the TV, for a clean, uncluttered look.
This year Samsung introduced a clever way to keep their most advanced TVs on the cutting edge. It's called Smart Evolution, and it lets you upgrade the TV's "brain" — its main processor, graphics processor, and memory — to support future formats and features as they become available. It's especially important for a 4K TV, because as new 4K standards emerge, this Smart Evolution design will allow you to replace the One Connect box for an easy upgrade.
While typical “local dimming” LED backlights have only a few dozen controllable zones, Samsung's Micro Dimming Ultimate system has several hundred, producing images with startling realism and depth.
Ever watch a movie and struggle to see objects in the shadows? That's because typical LCD TVs have a hard time accurately displaying scenes with both dark and bright areas. It's the TV's backlight that determines how realistic the picture contrast and black levels will look. Micro Dimming Ultimate is Samsung's most advanced backlight technology. It analyzes each frame of video to optimize the illumination over the entire screen surface for each scene. The 55" UNF9000 has 576 independently dimmable zones.
The UN55F9000 is one of Samsung's smartest Smart TVs ever thanks to a 1.35GHz quad-core processor. That's more horsepower than most tablets have. Besides surfing the web you can do things like multitask or use one app while downloading another. Whether your connection is wired or wireless, you can do a quick web search while you watch movies and TV shows, and enjoy TV while you chat with friends and family online. Along with built-in apps for services like Netflix®, Hulu Plus™, and YouTube™, you can download new ones from Samsung's large selection of apps.
Samsung's AllShare™ Play lets you wirelessly access and stream content from any compatible device. If you have a Galaxy S3 smartphone or Galaxy tablet, you can share movies, photos, and music via the UN55F9000. Your Wi-Fi® network lets you do things like "toss" photos from your phone or tablet to the screen with the swipe of a finger. Or push streaming video like Netflix movies from device to screen.
Sending content from your phone to your TV is cool, and going TV-to-phone is even cooler. Just download Samsung's Smart View app and use the TV View feature to mirror whatever's on the UN55F9000's screen on your Galaxy S3 phone or tablet. You can leave the room anytime without leaving your entertainment behind. Think of it as whole-house television you hold in your hand.
Movie theaters have switched to 4K projectors in recent years, and now you can enjoy amazing 4K picture quality at home. Ultra HD TVs with 4K resolution offer four times the detail of 1080p HDTVs. Some major TV makers offer media players so you can download and watch true 4K content for the best possible picture. Netflix® is already streaming some of their content in 4K, and other services plan to offer 4K video later this year.
Great TV, amazing picture!
This TV overwhelmed my wife and kids. The picture is so clear they were actually touching the screen trying to see if they could distort the viewing image. NOT! Great product Samsung. Looking forward to buying another one for my Man-Cave. Hopefully, the 65''.
Pros: Viewing angles, quality of picture, quick response to input from remote
Cons: Select 4K content
TV stopped working on the second day of installation
Pros: sure its a great product when it works
Cons: this was a scratch and dent product....will not go that route again, but thanks to Crutchfield for their ease of return policy and accommodations in sending out a Sony unit as a replacement
Super sharp, very easy to setup and use, and superb dashboard tying together cable box shows and internet based content (e.g. Netflix, M-GO, YouTube, etc.) The best part is the online integration with 3D content from Netflix, and mobile device control of YouTube searches and videos. The TV picture is without equal (other than the 65" screen).
Pros: Picture, Internet application integration, Ease of use, Remote control of external cable box
Cons: Lack of 4K content available currently
The picture quality was the best we have ever seen. The TV was easy to set up and has a lot of features that we are learning to use. The sound is not that great though. We would think they would figure out a better way for the sound. We would give this TV 5 stars, if not for the sound. The salesperson at Crutchfield was very knowledgeable and took his time with us with all the questions we had about TV's.
Pros: Easy to set up and has a lot of really nice features.
Cons: The sound is not that good.
Samsung has hit a home run with this TV. Best picture and color I've seen in years. Sound is very good, best I've heard from a thin flat panel. The menu is very easy to use and understand and to navigate to all the things this TV can do. If you are in the market for a new TV, this is the one.
Pros: 4K resolution
Awesome TV, the picture is amazing after some setting tweaks to get to your liking. My first smart TV and the extra content and features didn't disappoint. Couldn't figure out the ARC feature at first, stopped by the store and the guys walked me through it, great customer service.
Pros: great picture, features and customer service
Great purchase. I've had this TV for two weeks and I'm still learning all of the features! The sound isn't bad at all when you adjust the settings. Great job as usual by Samsung. Bring on the 4K content!!
Pros: Picture Quality, Easy Setup, Skype Camera, 3D movies on Netflix, Blu-Ray movies look terrific
Cons: None so far
Fantastic Television, Easy Setup and the Hub Connection is great!
Cons: Voice command activates for no reason sometimes but not a big issue
Easy setup. Arrived Friday PM so set up quickly to watch football games. Haven't had a chance to expplore all the many features yet but the sports pictures are "fanstatic".
Pros: Easy set ep to my dish system
Cons: none so far
This TV is amazing. The picture quality is incomparable to anything I've seen before on a television. Calling it a "smart tv" is under-estimating it; its genius. Everything I hoped it could do, it does & more. Best purchase made in 2013.
Pros: Picture Quality Clarity Ease
I thought the TV was kind of high in price, believe me i'm impressed this TV puts my other two to shame and to think the good part is still coming 4K that is. This TV has everything that it says and even more great picture and very smart easy to operate worth every penny. Thank you Samsung!!
Pros: Best picture
This is the best picture quality of any TV I have had. It is a 4K TV and even though there isn't 4K content yet, it upscales the content up and it looks gorgeous. Noticeably sharper then others. The sound is also very good. There are plenty of smart features and internet hookup without having any extra device. I haven't used much of these features yet to comment on them enough. I bought the TV for the picture quality. Everything else are just extra pluses.
Pros: Excellent color and sharpness. Also controls to can easily adjust the picture to any way you wish (moe color saturation, less saturation, sharpness, brightness, etc) Lots of smart features I am still learning. 3D capable- cool to have
Cons: Only one so far- sometimes in the middle of a show, a dialog box pops up telling me I can use voice controls. This is very distracting and I don't need the a dialog box on the TV to pop up to tell me this. Its in the instructions booklet. It doesn't happen very often- but it is annoying. There probably is a way to stop the TV from doing this I just haven't had to time to read everything yet. So not sure.
I have a Samsung 55 8000 tv so I had a great tv to compare this to. The 9000 is a huge step up. Not as great a difference between sd and hd but 4k v 2k is pretty significant. If you can get to a best buy to view it go see for yourself. As for buying it, I'd definitely recommend Crutchfield. Savings on tax at this price is pretty significant.
As far as the speakers, I have klipsch 5.1 with sw 112 sub so I have never used the tv speakers.
Pros: Clarity, load from off time
Cons: Tv is very heave compared to 8000, tv itself is thicker than 8000 model and the stand on the 9000 is kind of annoying. The stand is actually very deep and needs placement under pretty much the whole tv. I have an ultra slim wall mount so I'll be wall mounting it soon but if I didn't already have the wall mount I'd say go buy one since the stand kind of makes this into a dlp tv, in terms of depth anyways.

All video inputs are upscaled to 3,840 x 2,160 (4K).
One Connect Box: The Samsung F9000 series LED-LCD TV includes Samsung's One Connect Box which connects to the television via a single 10' proprietary cable. The One Connect Box is fitted with all of the TV's RF, video, audio, USB, LAN, and IR Out connectivity. Note: The One Connect Box measures 14.1875" (w) x 1.0625" (h) x 5.125" (d).
HDMI (MHL) Port: The HDMI 4 port is designed for the connection of select mobile phones and other portable electronic devices using the new MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) standard. Simply plug your MHL compatible smartphone into the TV's HDMI 4 (MHL) port using the HDMI cable that is included with your mobile phone. MHL allows you to display full 1080p video and still images on the Samsung TV from your mobile smartphone. The TV's IR remote can be used to control basic playback functions (such as Play/Pause, Stop Fast Forward/Rewind, and Menu navigation). Your MHL compliant device will also charge while connected to the TV's HDMI 4 port. To find MHL-certified devices, go to www.mhlconsortium.org.
Ultra-HD 3D (via HDMI 1.4): With Ultra-HD 3D you get 4x the resolution of Full HD 1080p while watching 3D. Samsung The TV utilizes Bluetooth-enabled active shutter glasses (four pair included) for an ultra 4K 3D viewing experience when coupled with a 3D source, such as a 3D-ready Blu-ray player or an HD 3D broadcast from satellite or cable providers (connected via HDMI 1.4). The Samsung LED-LCD TV automatically adjusts the overall picture to provide an optimal 3D effect. The Samsung 3D TV also offers a unique feature that allows you to intensify your 2D viewing experience by up-converting it to virtual 3D. In addition, you can adjust the overall 3D perspective (+/-5) and overall 3D image depth (1-10)
Note: 2010 Samsung IR 3D glasses and3D glasses from other manufacturers are not compatible. Some 3D modes may not be available depending on the format of the image source. PIP, Auto Program, and some Picture Adjustment functions will also be disabled in 3D mode.
Included 3D Glasses (4 pair): The Samsung LED-LCD TV includes four pair of 3D active glasses with built-in Bluetooth. Samsung's 3D Active Glasses (SSG-5100GB) offer a comfortable fit through its lightweight frame and flexible noise- and ear-pieces. The Samsung 3D Active Glasses are powered by a single CR2025 3V lithium coin-type battery (pre-installed). The battery can last up to 150 hours when powered on. The Samsung's 3D Active Glasses provide a viewing range between 6' and 19.5' from the Samsung 3D-ready TV.
Note: If the 3D glasses move outside of the recommended operating distance, the signal from the TV will be disconnected and the display of the 3D glasses will turn off after several seconds. If you lie on your side while watch TV with 3D glasses, the picture may look dark or may not be visible. When viewing 3D video under fluorescent lighting (50-60Hz), you may notice a small amount of screen flickering.
LED Edge-Lighting w/ Micro Dimming Ultimate + Precision Black: Samsung's LED Edge-Lighting technology w/ Micro Dimming Ultimate + Precision Black maximizes the contrast between lights and darks to create a picture that is as true-to-life as possible. The television's white LEDs are arranged along the left and right edges of the screen and a proprietary light guide is used to focus its luminance inwards towards the middle of the screen for a more uniform brightness.
Ultra Clear Panel: Sometimes you can't keep sunlight or house lights from shining right on your TV screen. With Samsung's Ultra Clear Panel, you can still get an amazing picture even with reflective light. Ultra Clear Panel absorbs most ambient light and virtually eliminates reflections. Ultra Clear Panel also helps make colors more vibrant with deeper blacks and enhanced contrast for crisper images and excellent shadow detail.
Auto Motion Plus: Auto Motion Plus removes blur and judder from scenes with large amounts of rapid movement to provide a clearer picture. Auto Motion Plus reduces blur so that action movies, sports and video games have enhanced clarity. Advanced panels and unique backlight technology combine with proprietary algorithms to reduce the response time and yield a more accurate image reproduction with faster onscreen motion. Auto Motion Plus can be set to Clear, Standard, Smooth, Custom, or Off.
Clear Motion Rate 1200: Clear Motion Rate (CMR) is Samsung's more comprehensive and accurate measure for how well the LED-LCD TV can display fast-moving images. Previously, motion clarity was expressed simply by the refresh rate, measured in Hz. CMR, however, takes into account all three factors that contribute to motion clarity: panel refresh rate, image processor speed and backlight technology. CMR is measured by determining the thinnest line a TV can display in a moving image. The thinner the line, the higher the CMR rating, and the clearer the picture you'll enjoy on the screen.
Wide Color Enhancer Plus: Wide Color Enhancer Plus allows you to see picture color the way the director originally intended. Witness the entire RGB spectrum brought to life on your screen to bring you exceptionally vibrant, yet natural-looking images faithful to the director's original intent.
Picture Control: You can make the following adjustments for an optimum picture.
Note: You can adjust and store Picture Settings for each external device connected to the TV.
Film & Game Modes: The television provides Film & Game modes.
BD Wise: BD Wise provides the optimal picture quality for Samsung DVD, Blu-ray, and Home Theater products which support BD Wise. When BD Wise is set to On, the TV's picture mode is automatically changed to the optimal resolution.
PIP (Picture-in-Picture): You can watch the TV's tuner and one external video source (component/HDMI) simultaneously. The component/HDMI source will be displayed as the main picture, while the TV channel will be displayed in a sub-screen, while which can be moved to each corner of the television's screen. You can switch the audio between the main screen and sub-screen.
DNSE+ Processing: The Samsung LED-LCD TV employs DNSe+ processing which provides selectable custom settings for experiencing surround sound with maximum bass response, dialog clarity, and consistent volume levels from any content source, including Blu-ray movies, TV programming, streaming, and games.

Audio Extras: The Samsung TV offers a variety of audio adjustments to meet your listening needs.
Audio Outputs: The Samsung LED-LCD television provides an analog and digital audio output via the included One Connect Box.
ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel in HDMI 1.4 enables a TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, HDMI inputs, or any analog connected device to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input. The audio from the TV's tuner, network connection, and USB port can pass as Dolby Digital or 2ch PCM. HDMI and analog connected devices will be output as 2ch PCM only.
Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an A/V receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI 3 input. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary.
SoundShare: The TV is compatible with the SoundShare feature found on some Samsung Crystal Surround AirTrack active speaker systems (sound bars). SoundShare makes a wireless connection between the TV and the speaker system via Bluetooth. Once the two are paired, you can control the volume and mute the sound by using the remote control from the TV or the speaker system. If you change the AirTrack from TV mode to another mode or turned off, the TV audio will resume playing from the TV's speakers. SoundShare can be found on the Samsung HW-F450, HW-F550, HW-F551, HW-F750, and HW-F850.

You can setup the wireless network connection using these four methods; PBC (WPS), Auto Network Search, One Foot, or Manually.
Note: The TV's built-in WiFi supports IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN networks and WEP (open/shared), WPA-PSK (TKIP/AES), WPA2-PSK (TKIP/AES) network security.
WiFi Direct: When using WiFi Direct, you can connect directly with other devices without using a wireless router. You'll be able to wirelessly transfer personal content (such as photos & videos) to the Samsung LED-LCD TV without connecting to your home network. WiFi Direct completely bypasses your WiFi access point/router, so it's easy to set up. Streaming of copy-protected content and other certain formats are not supported.
AllShare/DLNA Certified: The Samsung LED-LCD TV's AllShare function, along with its DLNA Certification allow you to watch videos (Divx/AVI/H.264/MPEG/MKV/MOV/WMV), photos (JPEG/PNG/BMP/MPO), and listen to music (MP3/WMA/AAC/FLAC/OGG) saved on your Windows PC (or other DLNA Certified media server) through the TV via its Ethernet (LAN) port or built-in WiFi (wireless). This eliminates the need to copy your photo, video, and music files to a separate USB storage device.
Note: Windows PCs with XP and Vista installed require Samsung's PC Share Manager software, which can be downloaded for free at www.samsung.com. Not compatible with older Windows OS versions and Mac.
Screen Mirroring: This Screen Mirroring function lets you view the screen of your WiFi-enabled Samsung Android smart phone or tablet (with support for AllShare Cast) on the Samsung LED-LCD TV.

5-Way Joy Stick: The television is equipped with a 5-way "joy stick" like button on the bottom right side of the TV's rear-panel that lets you control the TV without the remote control or Smart Interaction.
Base: The TV is shipped with its base unattached. The base attaches to the television using the supplied hardware. The television weighs 52.0 lbs with the base.
Wall Mounting: The TV has four threaded inserts on the back for use with an optional wall-mount bracket (the included wall-mount adapters must be used). The spacing of the mounting holes is 400mm (h) x 400mm (v). The threaded inserts require M8 (8mm) machine screws (not supplied). The television weighs 48.9 lbs without the stand.
Note: When mounting the TV on the stand or a wall (with optional bracket) leave 4" of clearance on each side of the television and 4" above/below the television for adequate ventilation.
Detachable AC Power Cord: The Samsung LED-LCD TV comes with a 5' detachable AC power cord which plugs into the back of the TV (not the One Connect Box). The power cord sits 0.155" from the back of the television. The power cord is fitted with a right-angle AC plug that sits 0.9375" from the wall.

I assume the question refers to the cable from the box to the TV, and that cable appears to be 8 feet long, or a little longer. It was difficult to measure the cable length in my current configuration. Love the TV! [ STANLEY ALLEN Feb 05, 2014 ]
14.2 inches [ MARK Feb 04, 2014 ]
I would say it is about 6 feet long. Definitely buy this TV, the picture is absolutely amazing!! [ Christopher Feb 01, 2014 ]
long enough to be entertainment unit friendly but would have to be located near if unit is wall mounted (6ft) [ David Feb 01, 2014 ]
It's 10 feet. But I find this to be an odd question. My first reaction was when I saw this was, go check the warehouse. Unless you asked me the question in order to drive me to your website. [ John Jan 31, 2014 ]
The cord is approximately 10 ft. in length. It plugs into the TV about 7 inches from the bottom, allowing most of that length to be used to get to wherever you wish to hide the box itself. Hope this helped. [ ALBERT H Jan 31, 2014 ]
Mark, I.ve got the tv in question and i'll tell you that it's one great tv , because I've got two others that don't even come close. I am still learning about the tv myself as of right now I can't tell you weather it has picture in picture, but it's a great tv. John [ JOHN Dec 18, 2013 ]
Hi Mark...I believe this TV does have multiple tuners, and two channelsat the same time should be a possibility...as to picture in a picture,,Idoubt it, Neither of the two scenarios interest me,,,BUT there shouldbe someone with an answer. Crutchfield is darn good,,but Samsungis a terrible resource!...India or Manila is a joke...I have consideredSamsung Corporate....that might work. If so I would be interested.Good Luck, Adrian W [ ADRIAN Dec 16, 2013 ]
