A big screen that really delivers

Samsung UN60H6350

When you start looking at 60" and larger TVs, it gets easier to see the differences between models from the top brands and the no-name units. Behind the crystal-clear picture of Samsung's UN60H6350 you'll find advanced panel technology and video processing. One key ingredient is Samsung's Clear Motion Rate 240 technology, which combines 120Hz refresh rate with a blinking backlight to significantly improve the clarity of video motion, especially on larger-sized screens like this one.

More ways to connect to your digital entertainment

There are two types of connections you want your new TV to have plenty of: HDMI and USB. The UN60H6350 has four HDMI inputs, which will allow your Blu-ray player, and high-def cable or satellite TV receiver to look and sound their best — not to mention a growing number of digital cameras and camcorders, too. And the USB inputs let you plug in a wide array of devices — everything from a thumb drive to an optional webcam that enables cool features like gesture control and Skype™ video calls.

The best kind of Smart TV — it will make you feel smart, too

The UN60H6350 makes finding great things to watch easier. Samsung's innovative Smart Hub organizes your favorite entertainment into five simple panels: On-TV, Movies and Shows, Social, Apps, and a panel for your personal photos, videos and music. If your PC is networked you can even search through the video and music you've stored on it using the TV's remote. This set's built-in Wi-Fi® makes it easy to seamlessly connect to your wireless network.

Web functions are handled by Samsung's powerful quad core processor, which provides fluid browsing and content streaming, and rapid switching between apps. There's also a very slick screen mirroring feature that turns your compatible smartphone, tablet or computer into a second TV screen. Whatever is playing on the UN60H6350's screen is streamed via Wi-Fi to your mobile device as well. So now you can watch your favorite movies, sports, and shows all around the house.

Very pleased with this TV

Written By Anonymous, South Carolina on Tuesday, July 14, 2015

Overall a great TV. Picture quality is great with a little tweaking to the default settings. A simple internet search for calibration settings for this TV will net some great examples specific to your setup and it is needed for best picture quality. The apps work well on the latest firmware update, latest as of the date of this review, and very little lag is noticed. Power on is quick.

Some Samsung apps can be annoying but a little adjustment to app settings will take care of that. Specifically the 'Sync Plus' app is annoying to me as it only serves to add more annoying advertisements. Still, the apps are a nice addition.

The only knock I would give this TV is audio. I know not to expect much from modern TVs when it comes to audio but this TV is particularly weak when it comes to audio. For this TV outsourcing the audio isn't a necessity but will greatly improve any viewing/listening experience.

Shipping was exceptionally fast. Ordered on a Monday night and it was delivered by Thursday morning.

The only other gripe I would have is that if I would have waited a week my purchase would have included the sound bar package that is now included as an added bonus. As I said the audio on this TV definitely lacks and the inclusion of the sound bar would have made this a 5 star purchase, especially at this price. If you are looking for a TV this size and in this price range you can't go wrong with the current deal being offered. I only wish I had waited

Pros: Picture quality Size/appearance Apps Shipping time

Cons: Audio Stand is flimsy but has ability to rotate, wall mount is best in my opinion.

Great television

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am very pleased with this television. You can change the color easily using the simple menu system, so that program images are as much (or little) saturated as you'd like. The picture looks good even if viewed from an angle. Sound is OK in spite of the thin cabinet. The "smart hub" system works well for netflix. After watching programming on this television for about a month, I am very happy with this purchase and would buy it again with no regrets.

Pros: Excellent picture and colors; Menu system; Easy to set up; Smart hub system is easy to use and very convenient.

Cons: The one problem I've found is that sometimes when I switch from one device (game system or blu ray player) to my satellite (dish tv), I get an error message saying that the television can't play the material at that resolution. Changing the cable tv box to a High Def channel takes care of the problem. From what I've read this is a common problem on Samsung televisions.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Everything seemed to work well and set up easily, picture setting were hard for me to get right for me, and am still not satisfied after about 2 weeks of tweeking.

Pros: Easy setup Good quality build No problems after two weeks of use

Cons: Getting picture settings right is difficult for me Handling can be a problem, the frame is very narrow and it is hard not to toutch and put pressure on the screen when lifting or moving!

Very good picture. Sound not very good. PIP stopped working. Outside antenna to pull in local stations is not working. It worked on older Samsung sets. After talking to internet provider and Samsung got smart hub to come on. Internet still not available.

Pros: picture and salesman

Cons: all of the above

Excellent 60 inch TV. While I don't need the Smart Hub features in my setup, everything else about the unit is perfect. Not to mention excellent price and sales support from Crutchfield.

Pros: Picture quality, Crutchfield sales support and shipping, price.

Cons: Don't really need Smart Hub features

High quality picture----Sound- not so much----Have not used the WI-FI functions yet TV stand a waste for anyone doing a wall mount. Would like to see the stand as an optional purchase with the money saved redirected to improved audio.

Pros: Picture quality very good Good delivery by Crutchfield

Cons: Sound disappoints----5' power cord short for wall installation----

Easy to use and setup

Written By Rob, Bowie, MD on Monday, November 17, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The TV is crystal clear and very bright. The menus are fairly easy to navigate, but you Samsung could easily simplify them further in my opinion. Still way better than most Smart TV's that I have setup. The biggest con is that there is obviously no keyboard in Samsung's development package as the keyboard functions to do Samsung, Amazon, and Netflix were all different. As you are entering a password you have to do a wait and see what the keyboard is really going to do. Almost made me grab a real keyboard for a minute to avoid the on screen ones. I am still giving this a 5 star rating as it is a TV and I don't need the keyboard that often after setup. The screen, size, brightness, clarity, etc. are all very nice even in a well lit room.

Pros: Screen, and having all the Smart TV capabilities.

Cons: Samsung's lack of a standard on screen keyboard.

Great picture and Smart Apps function quickly and logically. I don't think you'll find a better 60" TV at this price. The 5 stars are based on quality at this price. Yes there are TV's with higher picture quality but the cost will be noticeably higher.

Pros: Quick Smart Apps! Great picture.

Cons: None!!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am very satisfied. This is my first HDTV so the step up from SDTV has been dramatic. My set has only been in service 3 weeks now. I mainly watch sports and it is great. Games work well also. Set has so many useful features.

Pros: Very easy to set up and navigate.

Cons: 1) Certain features are only enabled on the 6400 and above models. 2) It appears I cannot access the on screen keyboard when using web. Will need a WiFi or standard keyboard

Review of Samsung UN60H6350

Written By Gerry C, Scarborough, N.Y. on Sunday, August 03, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall, very satisfied with picture quality and colorimetry.

Pros: Excellent quality and sharpness of detail

Cons: "Quick guide" is virtually worthless. Important details to properly set up set are contained in an "e" book accessible from remote menu or online. This is a monstrous several hundered pages ! In order to surf the web ( a feature of smart TV's) it is necessary to use a wireless keyboard and "dongle" which are NOT supplied and the need for which is not readily apparent. Additionally, the logic of the remote is somewhat confusing in comparison with those supplied with either Sony or Panasonic .

So far I am Impressed at the value you receive for the price. Works w

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great TV. Picture is crisp and sound is clear. Only complaint was that apps weren't working when first bought (mainly Netflix) but Samsung has released a software update and everything works perfectly now. I would definitely buy again.

Pros: Picture, Price.

Cons: Read countless reviews about how poor Samsung service was about the Software issue so I didn't even attempt. If there is ever another issue I fear I'll be in the same boat that all of the other people were when they called in.

Really great smart tv. Beautiful sharp picture. Don't need the cable co. remote. The Samsung works fine. Love the built-in red eye. No visable wires. Just wish the guide allowed searching by pages of 5 instead of 1 at a time.

LED Edge-Lighting: Samsung's LED Edge-Lighting technology allows for a high dynamic contrast ratio and ultra-sharp blacks by allowing multiple LEDs to turn on an off automatically based on the image. LED Edge-Lighting also provides more natural color representation and deep reds and greens, because Samsung uses white LEDs that produce 105% of the broadcast color gamut. The television's white LEDs are arranged along the left and right edges of the screen and a proprietary light guide is used to focus its luminance inwards towards the middle of the screen for a more uniform brightness. Overall, this LED Backlight system produces contrast with stronger blacks and whites, and greater subtlety of every gradation in between.

Clear Motion Rate 240: Clear Motion Rate (CMR) is Samsung's more comprehensive and accurate measure for how well the LED-LCD TV can display fast-moving images. Previously, motion clarity was expressed simply by the refresh rate, measured in Hz. CMR, however, takes into account all three factors that contribute to motion clarity: panel refresh rate, image processor speed and backlight technology. CMR is measured by determining the thinnest line a TV can display in a moving image. The thinner the line, the higher the CMR rating, and the clearer the picture you'll enjoy on the screen.

  • Panel Refresh Rate (Hz): Samsung's screen refresh rate (120Hz) significantly improves motion detail and resolution by sampling the image more frequently, leading to smoother, more fluid movement.
  • Image Processor (Auto Motion Plus): Samsung's proprietary Auto Motion Plus image processing technology is faster and more responsive than conventional image processors, as it interpolates intermediate frames to smooth out the image.
  • LED Backlight Technology: Samsung's Edge-Lighting Backlight technology regulates output precisely in synchronization with the screen refresh to lessen the time it is lit, reducing ghosting and motion blur.

Auto Motion Plus: Auto Motion Plus removes blur and judder from scenes with large amounts of rapid movement to provide a clearer picture. Auto Motion Plus  reduces blur so that action movies, sports and video games have enhanced clarity. Advanced panels and unique backlight technology combine with proprietary algorithms to reduce the response time and yield a more accurate image reproduction with faster onscreen motion. Auto Motion Plus can be set to Clear, Standard, Smooth, Custom, or Off.

Wide Color Enhancer Plus + Motion Lighting: With Wide Color Enhancer Plus, you'll witness a wider spectrum of colors on the TV screen, just like the director intended. You'll enjoy enriched colors while watching your favorite movies, and shows, even if it's older, non-HD content. The TV automatically adjust the brightness of the screen in response to the brightness of the room. In bright light, the screen brightens. In dim light, the screen dims.

1080p Resolution: The LED-LCD television displays all inputs at a resolution of 1080p (1920 x 1080). The television's HDMI and component video inputs will accept 1080p (24/60Hz), 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i video signals.

  • HDMI (v.1.4): The Samsung H6350 series LED-LCD TV features four HDMI 1.4 inputs. In addition, any HDMI input can be used to connect a PC to this TV.
  • Component Video: The Samsung H6350 series LED-LCD TV features a single component video input. The TV's component video input can also be used as a composite video input (480i only).
Note: The TV has built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) and Digital Cable (QAM) tuners with an RF-coaxial input, so you don't need a separate set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV or unencrypted Digital Cable signals.

Picture Control: You can make the following adjustments for an optimum picture.

  • Picture Sizes: You can choose one of the following screen sizes.
    • 16:9: Sets the picture to 16:9 wide mode.
    • Zoom 1: Vertically enlarges the size of the picture and allows you to move the enlarged picture using the arrows on the remote.
    • Zoom 2: Vertically enlarges the size of the picture more than Zoom 1 and allows you to move the enlarged picture using the arrows on the remote.
    • Wide Fit: Proportionally enlarges the picture to fit the entire screen without changing the aspect ratio.
    • 4:3: Sets the picture to 4:3 normal mode with pillars on the left and right of the screen.
    • Screen Fit: See the full image with no resizing when HDMI (720p/1080i/180p) or Component (1080i/1080p) signals are inputted.
    • Smart View 1/2: Reduces the 16:9 picture by 50% (1) or 25% (2).
  • Picture Modes: Picture Modes apply preset adjustments to the picture.
    • Dynamic: increases the brightness of the screen (suitable for bright rooms)
    • Standard: suitable for a normal environment
    • Natural: useful for reducing eye strain
    • Movie: darkens the screen and reduces glare (appropriate for dark rooms)
    • Entertain: sharpens images for a more dynamic viewing experience (only available when connected to a computer)
  • Manual Picture Settings: The TV has several options for manually adjusting the picture quality.
    • Backlight: adjusts the brightness of the LED backlight
    • Contrast: increases or decreases the contrast between dark and light areas of the picture
    • Brightness: adjusts the brightness level of the picture (not as effective as Backlight setting)
    • Sharpness: sharpens or dulls the edges of objects
    • Color: adjusts the color saturation of the picture
    • Tint (G/R): adjusts the amount of green and red in a picture

    • Black Tone: adjusts the black level on the screen to adjust the screen depth
    • Flesh Tone: adjusts the amount of red in skin tones

    • Color Tone: adjusts the overall color tone of the televisions using one of four presets: Cool, Normal, Warm 1, Warm 2
    • Digital Clean View: if the broadcast signal received by the TV is weak, you can activate the Digital Clean View feature to reduce any static and ghosting that may appear on the screen
    • MPEG Noise Filter: reduces MPEG noise to provide an improved picture
    • HDMI Black Level: select the black level on the screen to adjust the screen depth when you have a component connected via HDMI to the television
    • LED Clear Motion: removes drag from fast scenes with a lot of movement to provide a clear picture
Note: You can adjust and store Picture Settings for each external device connected to the TV or apply the settings to all inputs and sources.

Film & Game Modes: The television provides Film & Game modes.

  • Film Mode: The TV can be set to automatically sense and process film signals from all sources and adjust the picture from optimum quality. Film mode is supported in TV, AV, Component (480i/1080i), and HDMI (480i/1080i).
  • Game Mode: When connecting the television to a game console, you can enjoy a more realistic gaming experience when selecting Game Mode.

PIP (Picture-in-Picture): You can watch the TV's tuner and one external video source (component/HDMI) simultaneously). The component/HDMI source will be displayed as the main picture, while the TV channel will be displayed in a sub-screen, while which can be moved to each corner of the television's screen. You can switch the audio between the main screen and sub-screen.

Audio Features

DTS Premium Sound: The Samsung LED-LCD TV employs DTS Studio Sound processing with DTS TruSurround and DTS TruDialog which will decode DTS-encoded content, such as TV programming, Blu-ray movies, and streaming media, as well as processes stereo content to deliver an optimized virtual surround sound experience with enhanced bass response, clear dialog, and consistent volume levels through the TV speakers.

  • DTS TruSurround: DTS TruSurround is a patented DTS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over two speakers. DTS TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround sound experience through any two-speaker playback system, including the internal television speakers. It is fully compatible with all multichannel formats.
  • DTS TruDialog: This function allows you to increase the intensity of a voice over background music or sound effects so that dialogue  can be heard more clearly.
Note: The speakers of this TV provide different sound images according to how you position the television. You can select between "Wall-Mount" or "Stand" to provide the best sound quality based on the television's placement.

5-Band EQ + Sound Modes: You can manually adjusts the TV's built-in 5-band EQ (100 Hz, 300 Hz, 1 kHz, 3 kHz, and 10 kHz) for a more customized sound; or simply choose from the following Preset Sound Modes:

  • Standard: Selects the normal sound mode.
  • Music: Emphasizes music over voices.
  • Movie: Provides the best sound for movies.
  • Clear Voice: Emphasizes voices over other sounds.
  • Amplify: Amplify mode is for people who have difficulty hearing.

Audio Settings: The Samsung TV offers a variety of audio adjustments to meet your listening needs.

  • Auto Volume: Auto Volume automatically adjusts the volume of the desired channel, lowering the sound output when the modulation signal is high or raising the sound output when the modulation signal is low. This reduces the difference in volume when changing channels. The Auto Volume feature can be set to Normal, Night or Off.
  • Audio Delay: The Audio Delay function corrects audio/video mismatch, when watching TV or video, and listening to a digital audio output using an external device such as an AV receiver. You can adjust the audio delay from 0ms to 250 ms.
  • Picture Off: You can turn the television's screen off and still listen to audio.

Audio Outputs: The Samsung LED-LCD television provides an analog and digital audio output.

  • Digital Audio (w/ DTS Neo 2:5): The optical digital output terminal will output Dolby Digital/DTS (when available) or 2 channel PCM. The digital optical output terminal only sends an audio signal in Dolby Digital/DTS when receiving Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound from a digital broadcast channel through the tuner, network apps, and USB ports on the LED-LCD TV. The optical digital audio output will only output in 2ch stereo or a matrixed 5.1ch signal (DTS Neo 2:5) from sources connected to the TV via HDMI or RCA.
  • Analog Audio: The television features a 3.5mm (minijack) audio output for connecting the television to an analog 2-channel receiver. You will need a minijack-to-RCA adapter (sold separately) to make a stereo RCA connection between the television and your soundbar speaker or AV receiver. The TV's analog audio output terminals will output 2ch audio from any of the television's source inputs.

ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel in HDMI 1.4 enables a TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, HDMI inputs, or any analog connected device to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input. The audio from the TV's tuner, network connection, and USB port can pass as Dolby Digital or 2ch PCM. HDMI and analog connected devices will be output as 2ch PCM only.

Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an A/V receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI 2 input. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary.

Network/USB Functions

You can setup a wired network connection automatically or manually. You can setup the wireless network connection using these four methods; Automatic, Manual, WPS (PBC), or WPS (PIN).
