The pros of plasma
If you're into picture quality, and you want a cinema-like home viewing experience, you owe it to yourself to check out plasma for your next TV. Plasma holds the edge when it comes to smooth motion and rich colors high-def movies and TV shows look effortlessly real. Plasma's superior picture contrast and deep black levels are best enjoyed in rooms without a lot of windows or lamps, where you can dim or darken the lights.

Average Customer Review:
Fantastic picture, but yes, the buzz
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Ease of Use
This is my first purchase with Crutchfield, and I must say that I was very impressed with the ease of ordering and the speed of delivery. Service thus far has been excellent, with one caveat: I haven't had to return anything . . . yet. I have been considering it with this new TV. Bought it after weeks of reviews and trips to local stores, and waiting for the holiday sales. Chose a plasma over LCD/LED for better picture on larger screens, and that aspect is definitely true. The picture quality is excellent. My hesitation, however, was the potential for the plasma 'hum' or 'buzz', which I've heard was mainly an issue at higher altitudes (we are 5000'), but which I've also heard is 'rarely' a problem with newer technology. Well, it IS there. It's not something you would hear at the store because it would be drowned out by ambient noise. The buzz does tend to be variable, ranging from a medium frequency hum, to a lower frequency buzz. I only really notice it though when the sound is muted and it's picture only. Any sound will quickly make the hum/buzz imperceptible. The TV is currently in a medium sized living area, and it will be going into a larger room in which I think it will be even more difficult to hear. I would imagine that the buzz is more prominent in a smaller room, but this TV is too big for a small room. I can't justify paying the shipping and/or restocking fee for a seemingly minor flaw, but I'm sure I'll hem and haw about it until it's too late.
Pros: Great picture Looks nice
Cons: The 'buzz'

Ease of Use
After buying a 51" Samsung D8000 at the end of '11, I was confident when purchasing a new 64" Samsung E7000 for my living room. While the picture was even better than my D8000 (which is next to perfect), after a few minutes I noticed the dreaded "buzz" I read about but dismissed because I thought "they must be crazy or an outlier".
It is loud. Very loud. My first night I happened to have a fan going and noticed something but chalked it up to the fan. But the next night, after turning on the TV, I heard a very noticeable buzz. After some simple troublingshooting, I identified the problem to be coming from the panel section of the new Samsung.
Apparently, I was hit with the "buzz" and knew immediately I don't need to try any witchcraft tricks; I just needed to return it.
To be fair, I have very good hearing and notice everything. If someone who didn't have such good hearing used this TV, they may not notice the buzz at all. But for me, it was impossible.
One more thing about the buzzing. You will notice it more or less depending on your viewing angle. Dead-on, head-level was certainly the worst, while being off to an angle (maybe 40 degrees), you could hardly notice it.
Pros: Picture and color AllShare software / Apps
Cons: Buzzing that is intolerable Usability issues. Simple operations like stretching the screen and re-positioning requires ackward hand dexterity, not to mention quick timing. Remote is not laid out in an intuitive way.
The best picture ever. Period.
Ease of Use
Just replaced a samsung 55" DLP with this one. This is my first plasma. I have 2 LED's. I am truly amazed by the picture. OK, I realize my DLP was 8 years old and technology has come a long way, but right out of the box, the picture was superb. I took the advice I read on on a website and calibrated the picture to their recommendations and the picture got even better (if that was possible). The most natural picture that I have ever seen on any LED, LCD, or Plasma. It is also less than 2 " deep so it is the thinnest plasma I have ever seen. OK, it uses slightly more energoy than LED, but the picture is worth it. If I pay $20 a year more in electricity, so be it. I chose this model instead of the E8000 because all my research (and I did my homework) pointed to the fact that the voice recognition did not work so well, so I opted to save the $300. E7000 is the same TV without the voice recognition or built in camera. 1 note... Samsung recommends a 4" space clearance on all sides including the back for ventilation purposes. I chose to flush mount theTV on the wall and with a 1" clearance in the back, there is plenty of room for all the heat to escape. Samsung has positioned the vents on the top portion of the back of the TV, so the heat just rises out. The audio visual technician who installed the TV said as long as the heat escapes and doesn't build up,we are OK . I check on a regular basis and there is no heat retention. A great TV all around.
Pros: Amazing, natural picture. Easy to use. Very slim profile.
Cons: slightly on the expensive side as this is a new model for 2012

Real Black Pro Panel: The Samsung E7000 series Plasma TV offers high-performance picture quality with Real Black Pro Panel. An advancement within the panel structure of the plasma TV and a software improvement that depicts blacker blacks, bolder color, higher contrast and exceptional picture quality. This technological improvement provides a more cinematic viewing experience.
Wide Color Enhancer Plus: Wide Color Enhancer Plus allows you to see picture color the way the director originally intended. Witness the entire RGB spectrum brought to life on your screen to bring you exceptionally vibrant, yet natural-looking images faithful to the director's original intent.
600Hz Subfield Motion: The Samsung E7000 series Plasma TV features 600Hz Subfield Motion technology with a fast 0.001ms response time that minimizes blurring of fast motion in sports programming and movie content. The 600Hz Subfield Motion technology makes action more life-like and natural looking. Action scenes and sporting events are crisp, clear and picture perfect. 600Hz Subfield Motion flashes a single image up to 600 times a second creating unprecedented picture quality. Contours are crisper and scrolling text sharper; no matter how fast images are moving. Fast action scenes are both clear with rich deep color detail.
Cinema Smooth: Movies are shot at 24 fps (frames per second); Cinema Smooth is a refined playback process of 24p movies from Blu-ray and Satellite TV sources that accurately converts and displays content originally shot on film at 24fps as compared to the 30fps of DVD and Blu-ray disc. This allows for smoother motion scenes when watching sources shot at the standard movie rate of 24fps.
HDTV Tuner: The TV has built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) and Digital Cable (QAM) tuners, so you don't need a separate set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV or unencrypted Digital Cable signals.
1080p Resolution: The Samsung E7000 series Plasma TV displays all inputs at a resolution of 1080p (1920 x 1080). The television's HDMI and component video inputs will accept 1080p (24/60Hz), 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i video signals.
- HDMI (v.1.4): The Samsung Plasma TV features three HDMI 1.4 inputs to connect to your Blu-ray/DVD player, Satellite/Cable receiver, or AV receiver. All HDMI inputs support x.v.Color, Deep Color, 3D, and CEC. The HDMI 2 input also supports the ARC function. The HDMI 3 input is MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) compliant. The HDMI 1 input features a 3.5mm audio input for DVI connection (DVI-to-HDMI adapter cable and separate audio cable is required). In addition, any HDMI input can be used to connect a PC to this TV.
- Component Video: The Plasma TV features a single component video input. The TV's component video input can also be used as a composite video input (480i only).
HDMI (MHL) Port: The HDMI 3 port is designed for the connection of select mobile phones and other portable electronic devices using the new MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) standard. Simply plug your MHL compatible smartphone into the TV's HDMI 3 (MHL) port using the HDMI cable that is included with your mobile phone. MHL allows you to display full 1080p video and still images on the Samsung TV from your mobile smartphone. The TV's IR remote can be used to control basic playback functions (such as Play/Pause, Stop Fast Forward/Rewind, and Menu navigation). Your MHL compliant device will also charge while connected to the TV's HDMI 3 port. To find MHL-certified devices, go to www.mhlconsortium.org.

The Samsung 3D TV also offers a unique feature that allows you to intensify your 2D viewing experience by up-converting it to virtual 3D. This reduces the difference in volume when changing channels. The Auto Volume feature can be set to Normal, Night or Off.
Audio Delay: The Audio Delay function corrects audio/video mismatch, when watching TV or video, and listening to a digital audio output using an external device such as an AV receiver. You can adjust the audio delay from 0ms to 250 ms.
Digital Audio: The optical digital output terminal will output Dolby Digital (when available) or 2 channel PCM. The digital optical output terminal only sends an audio signal in Dolby Digital when receiving Dolby Digital surround sound from a digital broadcast channel through the tuner on the Plasma TV. The optical digital audio output will only output in 2ch stereo from sources connected to the TV via HDMI, RCA, or USB.
ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel in HDMI 1.4 enables a TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, HDMI inputs, or any analog connected device to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input. The audio from the TV's tuner, network connection can pass as Dolby Digital or 2ch PCM. HDMI, USB, and analog connected devices will be output as 2ch PCM only.
Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an A/V receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI 2 input. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary.
Network Connection (wired/wireless): You can set up the Samsung E7000 series Plasma TV so that it can access your home network and online Samsung Apps through your local area network (LAN) using a wired (RJ-45 Ethernet) or wireless connection (built-in WiFi). You can setup a wired network connection automatically or manually. You can setup the wireless network connection using these four methods; PBC (WPS), Auto Network Search, One Foot, or Manually.
Note: The TV's built-in WiFi supports IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN networks and WEP (open/shared), WPA-PSK (TKIP/AES), WPA2-PSK (TKIP/AES) network security.
WiFi Direct: When using WiFi Direct, you can connect directly with other devices without using a wireless router. You'll be able to wirelessly transfer personal content (such as photos & videos) to the Samsung Plasma TV without connecting to your home network. WiFi Direct completely bypasses your WiFi access point/router, so it's easy to set up. Streaming of copy-protected content and other certain formats are not supported.
AllShare/DLNA Certified: The Samsung E7000 series Plasma TV's AllShare function, along with its DLNA Certification allow you to watch videos (DIVX/MPEG/H.264/WMV), photos (JPEG/PNG/BMP/MPO)), and listen to music (MP3/WMA/AAC/FLAC/OGG) saved on your Windows PC (or other DLNA Certified media server) through the TV via its Ethernet (LAN) port or built-in WiFi (wireless). This eliminates the need to copy your photo, video, and music files to a separate USB storage device.
Note: Windows PCs with XP and Vista installed require Samsung's PC Share Manager software, which can be downloaded for free at www.samsung.com. Not compatible with older Windows OS versions and Mac.
Samsung's Dual Core Processor: Samsung's Dual Core's processing speeds allow you to perform multiple tasks at the same time, such as using an app while downloading another one.
