DLP Projection System:
DLP (Digital Light Processing) technology by Texas Instruments is the only
display solution that enables projection systems to create a purely digital
connection between a digital video or graphic source and the screen in front of
you. While all other technologies are analog and compromise some image quality
in translation, DLP projection unleashes the full potential of high-quality
DLP Chip by Texas
Instruments: Samsung employs a DLP chip that is comprised of millions of
microscopic mirrors capable of switching on and off at 15,000 or more times a
second to deliver a razor-sharp picture for fast-moving images.
Cinema Smooth 1080p
LED Light Engine: Samsung's Cinema Smooth 1080p light engine
produces razor-sharp pictures in 1080p with a new LED that replaces the arc lamp
and color wheel typically found in DLP televisions. The LED will last the life
of the TV, eliminating the need to replace the lamp every few years, plus is
more energy efficient. The TV has a contrast
ratio of up to 10,000:1, with outstanding colors and deep black levels.
Native Resolution: The television has a display
resolution of 1920 x 1080. The HDMI and component video inputs will accept
1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i signals and will display them as 1920 x 1080.
All other input signals will also be displayed as 1920 x 1080.
HDTV (ATSC) Tuner: The TV has a built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC)
tuner, so you don't have to purchase a separate digital set-top box to receive
and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV signals. The TV also has a 181-channel NTSC
WISELINK: A rear-panel USB port allows you to connect a USB mass
storage device, such as a USB Thumb drive, to view JPEG files and play MP3 audio files. You have access to
the following functions:
Photo (JPEG) List: This menu shows JPEG files and
folders saved on the USB device and allows you to do the following:
View: You can view individual photos by selecting
them from the thumbnail display.
Rotate: This feature allows you to rotate the
selected image by 90°, 180°, or 270°.
Zoom: You can enlarge a picture 2x or 4x. Once
the image is enlarged, you can move it around onscreen.
Slide Show: You can play files on the USB device
in a slide show. You can adjust the slide show speed to Slow, Normal, or
Fast. You can also choose an MP3 file on the USB device to play as
background music during the slide show. The repeat function allows you
to play the slide show again and again.
MP3 List: This menu shows MP3 files saved on the USB
device and allows you to play them back.
Cinema Smooth Film
Mode: Samsung's 3:2 pulldown correction circuitry senses motion found in
unconverted 480i DVD video based on 24 fps film productions. This is especially
important when converting to a progressive video image, the result is an
elimination of visible motion artifacts. Note: This feature is only
available when using analog signals from component, S-Video, or composite
Digital Natural Image
Engine (DNIe): Samsung's DNIe makes input signals sharper, clearer, and more
lifelike. It's advanced image processors and six-times density enhancer help to
create true-to-life colors and high contrast, while virtually eliminating
My Color Control Mode:
The My Color Control Mode lets you select predefined settings that affect the skin, sky, and
grass tones in a picture without affecting other colors on the screen. You can
choose one of the following predefined settings: Standard, Red, Blue, Green,
Pink, Yellow or Custom. The Custom setting allows you to individually set and
store color saturation values between 0 and 50 for Red, Blue, Green, Pink, and
Yellow. If desired, you can instantly reset the colors to the factory default.
Picture Modes: You can choose
one of the following picture modes:
- Standard: resets the
standard factory settings
- Dynamic: for viewing the
TV during the day, or when there is bright light in the room
- Movie: for viewing the TV
in low light, or when playing video games
Picture Adjustments: In
addition to the three picture modes, you can also manually adjust the settings
for contrast, brightness, sharpness,
color and tint.
Color Weakness Enhancement: The
Color Weakness Enhancement feature adjusts the Red, Blue, or Green color to
enhance the picture according to the user's particular color weakness.
Picture Sizes: You can choose
one of the following picture sizes:
16:9: sets the
picture to 16:9 wide mode
magnifies the size of the picture and allows you to move the enlarged
picture using the arrows on the remote
magnifies the size of the picture more than Zoom 1 and allows you to move
the enlarged picture using the arrows on the remote
enlarges the aspect ratio of the picture to fit the entire screen
sets the picture to 4:3 normal mode
allows you to see the full image without any truncation when DTV (1080i),
HDMI (1080i, 1080p), or Component (1080i, 1080p) signals are input.
Auto Volume: Auto
volume automatically adjusts the volume of the desired channel by lowering the
sound output when the modulation signal is high or by raising the sound output
when the modulation signal is low.
You can choose from the following sound settings:
resets the standard factory settings
for watching music videos and
for watching movies
for watching a show that is mostly dialogue
allows you to adjust the 5-band EQ, which includes the following
frequencies: 100 Hz, 300 Hz, 1 kHz, 3 kHz, and 10 kHz
Game Mode: If you
connect the TV to a game console, such as a PlayStation or Xbox, you can enjoy a
more realistic gaming experience by selecting the game menu. In the Game Mode
menu, you can select the following:

this function in general cases.
TruSurround is a patented SRS
technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over
two speakers. TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround sound
experience through the two speaker internal playback system. It is fully
compatible with all multi-channel formats. In the Sound menu, you can turn
the effect on or off.
Sleep Timer: The
sleep timer switches the television off after a specified amount of time. The
sleep timer can be set to 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, or 180 minutes.
On/Off Timer: The
On/Off timer allows you to program the television to turn itself on and off by
selecting a specific on time and a specific off time. There are three
independent On/Off timer functions that can be set to operate once, every day,
Monday through Friday, Monday through Saturday, or Saturday and Sunday. In
addition to the "On Timer Volume", you can also set the specific channel or
playback contents such as photo or audio files from a connected USB device.
PC Display: The PC
input allows you to connect a personal computer with a D-Sub 15-pin output,
allowing you to use the TV as a high-resolution computer monitor. In PC mode,
you can adjust the following picture quality settings: Coarse and Fine, both of
which allow you to remove picture noise.
Remote: The supplied remote is
pre-programmed to operate this unit and a number of functions on other brands of
components, including VCRs, cable boxes, set-top boxes, and DVD players.
Inputs and Outputs Notes
Side Panel Inputs:
In order to create a slimmer depth, the TV's inputs and outputs are located on a
side panel which is angled 45° from the rear panel. Only the AC plug input is
found on the rear panel.
HDMI: This input
consists of three HDMI terminals. The HDMI terminals can accommodate a copy-protected digital
connection (HDCP) to other devices (such as digital set-top boxes) that have
compatible interfaces. One of the HDMI terminals can be used for a DVI-equipped
component. A separate analog audio connection and a DVI-to-HDMI adapter will be
needed. The HDMI jacks accept 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i signals.
PC: You can
connect a PC to this TV using a D-Sub cable or DVI. The PC input consists of a
stereo 3.5mm audio minijack and an
analog RGB (D-Sub 15-pin) jack. If you wish to connect your PC via DVI, you will
need a DVI-to-HDMI adapter cable, and a 3.5mm miniplug-to-RCA audio adapter
cable (in order to use the HDMI 3 input and the corresponding DVI audio left and
right RCA jacks).
Inputs: The 2 sets of component video inputs will
accept 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i signals.
Digital Audio Output:
Through the optical digital output, you can connect the TV to a
receiver/amplifier with a digital input. Not only will you get clean digital
audio, but you will be able to listen to the TV audio (specifically programs
broadcast in surround) in 5.1-channel surround on devices that can decode Dolby
Digital 5.1-channel audio.
WISELINK input is a female Type A USB jack that allows you to plug in a USB Mass
Storage device (i.e. USB Thumb drive) for viewing JPEG photo files or MP3 Audio
files, or both together. The WISELINK jack supports FAT 16 or FAT 32 only, and
is USB 1.1 compatible.
RS-232C: You can
control the TV via the RS-232C serial port.
Two independent cables or antennas can be connected to the "Ant 1 In" or
"Ant 2 In" terminals. For example, you can use the Ant 1 In RF Coaxial
jack for a cable input, and the Ant 2 In jack for an over-the-air input.
