Features
HDTV (ATSC) Tuner: The HP-S6373 Plasma TV has a built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC)
tuner, so you don't have to purchase a separate digital set-top box to receive
and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV signals.
Display Resolution: The HP-S6373 has a display resolution of 1366 x
768. The unit will accept 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i signals through its HDMI
and component video inputs.
FilterBright Plus: FilterBright is a powerful
anti-reflective film that absorbs external light and transmits internal light,
thereby increasing the contrast levels and preventing unwanted reflection. In
bright daylight, FilterBright creates high contrast with pure black to show
clearer image details and generate superb dark area
representation. For a more vivid picture, FilterBright Plus adds an optical film
to the panel that blocks up to 90% of the external light from any angle without
lowering the brightness.
High Contrast Ratio: The 10,000:1 contrast ratio delivers deep, rich
darks and bright whites.
Viewing Angle: The HP-S6373 Plasma TV offers a horizontal and vertical
viewing angle of 175-degrees.
Panel Life Expectancy: The plasma flat panel display has an estimated
life of 60,000 hours, which equates to 27 years at 6 hours of viewing per day.
Note: The estimated life figure represents phosphor
"half-life" viewing time under normal conditions.
Digital Natural Image Engine (DNIe): This exclusive Samsung
technology dramatically improves picture quality by enhancing the contrast,
detail, and white balance, while also reducing the noise.
13-bit Processing: Samsung's 13-bit processing method produces 549
billion lifelike colors and aids in video signal processing of analog sources to
ensure a more natural and vivid picture.
3D Y/C Digital Comb Filter: The TV uses a 3D Y/C Digital Comb filter
which constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width
and picture changes over time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while
improving transition detail.
Picture Modes: You can choose one of the following picture modes:
- Standard: resets the standard factory settings
- Dynamic: for viewing the TV during the day, or when there is
bright light in the room
- Movie: for viewing the TV in low light, or when playing video
games
- Custom: allows you to adjust and store the following settings:
contrast, brightness, sharpness, color, tint, and color tone
Picture Sizes: You can choose
one of the following picture sizes:
-
16:9: sets the picture to 16:9 wide mode
-
Zoom 1: vertically enlarges the size of the picture and allows you to move the
enlarged picture using the arrows on the remote
-
Zoom 2: vertically enlarges the size of the picture more than Zoom 1 and allows you
to move the enlarged picture using the arrows on the remote
-
4:3: sets the
picture to 4:3 normal mode
Film Mode: The
HP-S6373 features a Film Mode that when turned "on" automatically senses and
processes film signals from all sources and adjusts the picture for optimum
quality.
Game Mode: When using a video
came console, you can optimize your game experience with the Game Mode. The Game
Mode enhances dark areas, sharpens the picture, speeds up the image processing
response, and enhances the sounds of the games.
PC Display: The PC input allows
you to connect a personal computer with a D-Sub 15-pin output, allowing you to
use the TV as a high-resolution computer monitor. In PC mode, you can adjust the
following picture quality settings: Coarse and Fine, both of which allow you to
remove picture noise.
Picture-In-Picture (PIP): The
Picture-In-Picture feature allows you to simultaneously watch two video sources
(such as a TV, VCR, or DVD), or watch one video source while using the PC input.
The TV has only one tuner, so you cannot watch two TV channels at the same time.
There are two PIP views: two side-by-side split screens or a small window
inside of the full screen. The small PIP window can be moved to any of the
screen's four corners. You can also switch audio back and forth between the two
pictures.
Freeze Picture: The Freeze
feature freezes a moving picture for up to 5 minutes or until you turn the
feature off. Normal sound will still be heard during this function.
Digital Signal Strength Meter:
The digital signal strength meter can be used to help you find the antenna
position that delivers the highest HDTV digital signal strength.
Analog Channel Fine Tuning: The
fine tuning feature allows you to manually adjust analog channels for optimal
reception. A separate fine tuning setting may be put into the TV's memory for
each analog channel.
Low Noise Amplifier (LNA): When
the TV's antenna setting is on "Air," instead of "Cable," sometimes reception
can be improved by boosting the incoming signal using the LNA function. A
separate LNA setting may be put into the TV's memory for each channel.
Edit Input Source: The TV
allows you to name the device connected to the input jacks to make your input
source selection easier. You can choose from VCR, DVD, D-VHS, Cable STB, HD STB,
Satellite STB, PVR STB, AV Receiver, DVD Receiver, Game, Camcorder, DVD Combo,
PC, VOD STB or TV as the input names.
Favorite Channels: The TV
allows you to set channels you watch frequently as favorites so they are quicker
and easier to access.
Labeling Channels: You can
assign custom names to your analog stations. The names of digital broadcast
channels are automatically assigned and cannot be changed by the user.
Auto Volume: Auto volume
automatically adjusts the volume of the desired channel by lowering the sound
output when the modulation signal is high or by raising the sound output when
the modulation signal is low.
Internal Mute: When this
feature is turned "on" sound output from the TV speakers is muted. This is
useful when you want to listen to audio through your sound system instead of the
TV.
Digital Noise
Reduction: If the broadcast signal received by your TV is weak, you can
activate the Digital Noise Reduction feature to help reduce any static and
ghosting that may appear on the screen.
Sound Settings: You can choose from the following sound settings:
-
Standard:
resets the standard factory settings
-
Music: for watching music videos and
concerts
-
Movie: for watching movies
-
Speech: for watching a show that is mostly dialogue
-
Custom: allows you to adjust the 5-band EQ, which includes the following
frequencies: 100 Hz, 300 Hz, 1 kHz, 3 kHz, and 10 kHz
-
SRS
TruSurround XT: TruSurround is a patented SRS
technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over
two speakers. TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround sound
experience through the two speaker internal playback system. It is fully
compatible with all multi-channel formats.
V-Chip: The V-Chip
feature automatically locks out programs that are deemed inappropriate for
children. You must enter in a 4-digit password to change restriction levels.
Sleep Timer: The sleep timer
switches the television off after a specified amount of time. The sleep timer
can be set to 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, or 180 minutes.
On/Off Timer: The On/Off timer
allows you to program the television to turn itself on and off by selecting a
specific on time and a specific off time. You can also choose the "On Timer
Channel" and "On Timer Volume." The TV will turn off if no
controls are operated for 3 hours after the TV is turned on by the timer. This
function is only available in Timer "On" mode and helps prevent overheating.
Blue Screen Mode: When this
feature is turned "on" and there is no signal received or the signal is very
weak, a blue screen automatically replaces the noisy picture background.
Energy Savings:
This feature allows you to choose a level of energy savings by adjusting the
screen brightness. You can select Auto Saving, which automatically adjusts the
screen brightness depending upon the surrounding lighting conditions. Super
Saving enters the maximum power saving mode regardless of the surrounding
illumination. If you select Standard, the TV operates in the standard brightness
mode, regardless of the surrounding lighting conditions.
Screen Burn
Protection: To reduce the possibility of screen burn-in, this TV is equipped
with a pixel shift function, which minutely moves pixels on the display
horizontally or vertically. You can set the number of vertical lines and
horizontal dots to shift, plus the time interval for each pixel shift. If screen
burn has occurred, you can select an all-white screen or a signal pattern to
help remove screen burn artifacts.
Mounting Options
Detachable Stand: The HP-S6373 comes with a vertical stand for easy placement on top of a
shelf or table. On the stand, the TV can be swiveled horizontally 20-degrees.
Wall Mounting: You can mount
this display on the wall using an optional wall-mount bracket. The TV has six threaded screw holes spaced to accommodate universal wall mount
brackets. The horizontal hole spacing is 26.5", while the vertical hole
spacing is 23.5" from the top set of screw holes to the bottom set of screw
holes and 16" from the top set of screws holes to the middle set of screws holes. The holes will accept M8 (8mm) screws.
The middle and bottom screw holes are located behind two posts on the rear of
the TV that will need to be removed when detaching the base and wall mounting
the Television.
Remote Control
Multibrand
Remote: The supplied IR wireless remote control is
pre-programmed to operate this unit and a number of functions on other brands of
components, including VCRs,
cable boxes, set-top boxes, and DVD players. The remote can be used at a
distance of approximately 23 feet from the TV as long as the remote has a direct
line of sight to the TV's IR eye on front of the TV.
