Get into the action

Watching a game or concert film on a flat-screen TV might give you the visual illusion of being there live, but the TV's sound can make you feel like you're on the outside looking in. The Samsung HT-H6500WM is an all-in-one solution to that problem. With a full complement of five compact-but-capable home theater speakers and a subwoofer, you'll get a huge surround sound upgrade to your TV speakers. The HT-H6500WM supports the latest surround sound formats, including Dolby® TrueHD, DTS-HD®, and DTS Neo: Fusion II/3D sound.

Sports-oriented sound modes including "Announcer" and "Stadium" let you choose whether you want to focus on the talking heads or the raucous crowd. Live music settings include "Symphony Hall in Boston" for clear, intimate vocals and "Amphitheater" for huge rock shows. This system ensures that your TV has the best picture possible too, thanks to the built-in Blu-ray player that delivers crisp HD picture quality. You can even play 3D movies on a compatible TV.

The start of a multi-room audio system

The Samsung HT-H6500W features Multiroom Link to sync wirelessly with Samsung's Shape™ wireless speakers. If you have a Shape speaker in your kitchen and this system in your TV room, you can play the audio from your movie through both — perfect for when you have to get a quick snack but don't want to miss a word of dialogue. Or, use Multiroom Link to play your favorite song of the moment across different rooms, whether it's for a house party or just doing chores on a weekend.  Requires the Samsung WAM250 Wireless Audio Hub to connect with other Samsung Shape speakers.

Straightforward setup with fewer wires

The HT-H6500W includes a wireless connection module for the rear speakers. Rather than running wires across the room, you instead plug the module into a wall outlet behind your seating area and hook up your speakers to it. Easily connect the front speakers and sub to the receiver using supplied, color-coded speaker wires. The receiver plugs into the TV via an HDMI connection, and there's also an HDMI input for another component such as a cable or satellite box (HDMI cables not included). Once you're hooked up, simply choose your sound setting, and you're ready to go.

Loaded with connected entertainment features

Perhaps what's most impressive about the HT-H6500W the number of entertainment options it gives you. When using the built-in Wi-Fi, you have access to Samsung's Smart Hub, containing their full selection of apps. Stream movies and TV shows through services such as Netflix®, Hulu®, and YouTube™. You can also wirelessly mirror the display of your smartphone or tablet on your TV's big screen using Miracast™ technology. You even have access to a full web browser. The receiver also has integrated Bluetooth®, allowing you to play music directly from compatible devices through your speakers.

I've had this system running for a year now. It is great for my uses and room size (18'x30') All the power you would need plus some. The only down size is the remote is way to small...

OMG AWESOME

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This system is awesome. You can control each speaker to set up the perfect sound system. We had a 5.1 that was ok, but needed more, and this is it. So many movies today have such loud background music/sound effects, that you cannot hear the dialog ( a blessing with some of them). This system allows you to configure the ratio between the speakers, and it stays that way through the whole volume range. Plus you can set up custom speaker configurations, which you can access with the touch of a button. This system is also Harmony compatible for every function, so you don't need to have multiple remotes. If you really wanted to go wild you can hook up better speakers, but these are pretty good. I really love the control that the system give for adjusting the sound, and the ease of set up. Took all of 5 minutes, everything is color coded and very easy to set up. The Blu-ray player is very good, much better picture than the Sony that it replaced. Internet hook up was simple and very straight forward. I think that their internet display is better and definitely much faster than the Sony was.

Pros: Sound quality, Ease of set up, customization, Picture, and internet connection/display

Cons: Remote to small (get a harmony)

Great product

Nice system, the sound quality is great and easy to setup. This is our first Surround sound system and we really like it.

Pros: Great sound overall especially when all speakers are on during a movie or TV Music channel.

Cons: When playing a CD or FM radio only the front speakers play, 2 plus Subwoofer. It would be great if you could activate all speakers whenever you like.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Setup offered several ways to connect to TV. I connected to our wifi internet effortlessly. Also connected a Sirius radio and a DVR (Tivo). Great sound through the front and center speakers. Haven't heard much from the rear speakers; may have to raise their volume level. The setup software is easy to use and very detailed. Can adjust each speaker's performance by volume or location.

Pros: Ease of setup. Multiple configurations Value for performance

Cons: Rear speakers' power supply is always on.

Good value with some minor glitches

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Really a nice, compact system that meets most household needs for sound quality. The 'wireless' rear speakers only partially solve the issue of running wires out from the central unit. The Anynet+ design isn't as useful as it could be. I understand different people will want different things, but for me it makes no sense to let the TV remote turn of this sound system together with the TV, but it won't turn them on together. Maybe this could work if I had the option for the TV to use its own speakers when this audio system is not on, but because Anynet+ is connected, the TV assumes it should have its own speakers muted. An option to fix this would makes sense, but I haven't found it yet.

Pros: Good value for surround sound; Wireless rear speakers reduce wires crossing the room; bluetooth

Cons: Wires still need to be run across the back between the two rear speakers; some easy to program options appear to be missing

Nice system, easy to hook up and decent sound.

Pros: Wireless rear speakers, good sound, Samsung quality.

Cons: Bass speaker could be stronger but being a passive speaker it's does an OK job.

A well balanced system

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent rapid loading DVD with easy set up. I found the sound adequate for a medium to large room. Bass provides adequate sound for movie tracts. FM radio is useful but would also have liked Am band for news. All' wireless rear speakers from all brands plug into a separate module that needs an AC outlet and has wires to the module but it avoids having to run wires across the room .Easy interface on the remote and Smart hub. I prefer the remote supplied on the 5400 which is larger but is similar to that supplied with Samsung Smart TVs. Has superior speakers compared to the 5400.Generally very pleased. You can set this up in 5 minutes without even looking at the directions. Color coded wires and plugs are very intuitive

Pros: Easy setup ,excellent front and center speakers compact

Cons: Small compact remote is hard on the eyes, Could use more HDMI inputs

Happy with it

Overall, good unit. Was everything I expected it to be from specs and advertising.

Pros: Easy setup, integrates with Samsung TV perfectly.

Cons: Subwoofer is weak. Nowhere near as powerful as it should be. If you're looking for room rattling bass, look elsewhere. Music only so-so.

Video Section

HDMI ver.1.4: The Samsung Blu-ray Home Theater System is equipped with a single HDMI (v.1.4) output and single HDMI (v.1.4) input. HDMI simplifies A/V connections by carrying video and digital audio all in one cable. The HDMI output resolution can be set to 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i or 1080p when playing a DVD or Blu-ray Disc; also 1080/24p when playing a compatible BD. The HDMI input of the Blu-ray Home Theater System lets you increase the number of HDMI-compatible devices you can connect to your TV. The system will pass video (up to 1080P) and audio (up to 7.1ch) from the HDMI input to the HDMI output.

  • 1080/24p: Movies are typically filmed at 24 frames per second and some Blu-ray Discs use the same frame rate. If your TV will accept a 1080/24p signal, the HT-H6500WM can pass the signal in its native form, without converting the video.
  • HD Up-conversion: With HD Up-conversion, non-HD video is auto-enhanced to bring you near-HD quality. You'll see your favorite titles with greater detail and clarity on your HDTV.
Note: The Samsung HT-H6500WM provides no analog video or audio outputs.

Full HD 3D: The Samsung HT-H6500WM supports 3D playback of high-definition 3D Blu-ray discs when connected to a 3D-Ready HDTV via HDMI, along with wearing a pair 3D vision glasses. You can select from three 3D modes to suit your viewing needs.

  • Auto: You can choose whether to watch a 3D Blu-ray disc in 3D or 2D mode before playing a 3D Blu-ray disc. It is automatically played in 2D mode if your TV cannot support 3D contents.
  • 3D: The 3D Blu-ray disc is played in 3D mode at all times. The original video signal of the 3D image is displayed without any conversion. If a TV cannot support 3D Blu-ray discs, the playing screen will be black.
  • 2D: The 3D Blu-ray disc is played in 2D mode at all times. Choose this to view a picture without 3D effects or when a TV cannot support 3D Blu-ray discs.

Progressive Mode: The Samsung Blu-ray Home Theater System provides a Progressive mode to improve picture quality when viewing a DVD movie.

Deep/x.v.Color: Deep Color allows more accurate color reproduction with deep color depth. The system must be connected to a Deep Color compatible TV via HDMI for this feature to function.  The unit also supports x.v.Color; meaning it's ready for x.v.Color discs, such as AVCHD discs (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format).

Picture Settings: The system offers various Picture Settings to match your TV and viewing content.

  • Screen Size: You can enter the actual screen size (up to 116") of your TV, so that the system can adjust the image according to the screen size and display an optimal image.
  • TV Aspect: You can adjust the video output of the system to match the screen-type of your television. You can choose from 4:3 Letter-Box, 4:3 Pan-Scan, 16:9 Wide, and 16:9 Normal.
  • Picture Modes: This function enables you to adjust video quality when the system is connected to your TV.
    • Standard: Suitable for most viewing applications.
    • Movie: Suitable for watching movies.
    • Dynamic: Increases sharpness.
    • User: Lets you adjust the sharpness and noise reduction manually.

BD Wise: BD Wise is Samsung's latest inter-connectivity feature. When you connect Samsung products with BD-Wise to each other via HDMI, the optimum resolution will be set automatically. It will also automatically optimize internet video by boosting image quality to sharpen imagery and ensure text is legible. BD Wise will even resize the video ratio so that video edges are not cropped off.

Bonus View: The Bonus View feature provides picture-in-picture capability with select Blu-ray Disc titles. You can view addition content (such as director/actor commentary) in a small display window while the movie is playing.

Audio Section

5.1 Channel Amplifier: The Samsung HT-H6500WM Blu-ray Home Theater System features a 5.1 channel amplifier which delivers 165-watts per channel to the front & rear speakers, and 170-watts per channel to the center-channel & subwoofer speaker.

Crystal Amp Plus: Samsung's Crystal Amplifier Plus filters sound sources twice to minimize distortion and produce clear audio that sounds exactly the way it was meant to be heard. Resulting in audio that's rich, realistic, and accurate.

Surround Modes: The Samsung HT-H6500WM can decode Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby Pro Logic II surround formats.

Note: 7.1 channel surround formats will be downmixed to 5.1-channels since this system has no surround back speakers.

SFE (Sound Field Effect): The Samsung HT-H6500WM utilizes built-in DSP (digital signal processing) to provide soundfield effect modes with more realistic surround sound from stereo and multi-channel audio sources; such as movies, music, and sports.

  • Movies: Virtual 7.1ch (creates virtual 7.1ch sound from 5.1ch source), Virtual Surround (creates 5.1ch surround sound from two-channel input source), 3D sound (creates greater 3-dimensional sound for 3D movies), & Power Bass (increases bass tones).
  • Music: Philharmonic Hall (clear vocals), Symphony Hall (clearer vocals), Jazz Club (for jazz music), Church (for gospel music), Amphitheater (for rock music), & MP3 Enhancer (upscales MP3 music to CD level sound).
  • Sports Modes: Announcer (emphasizes commentator's voice) & Stadium (emphasizes spectators cheering)
Note: Set the SFE to "Off" for normal listening.

DTS neoFusion: DTS Neo Fusion combines Samsung 3D Sound and DTS Neo Ultra to give a more effective vertical surround effect in 7.1ch applications, as well as a virtual 7.1ch vertical effect in 5.1ch applications.

Speaker Setup: The Sound Customizer feature lets you calibrate the home theater for the optimal sound quality based on your hearing level and the ambient conditions. You can also adjust level (+/-6 dB) and distance (1-30') of each speaker manually. You can even indicate whether you are mounting the surround speakers behind your listening position (normal mode) or in frot of your listening position (simple mode). In addition, you can adjust the system's 7-band EQ (250/600/1k/3k/6k/10k/15k Hz) for overall system sound adjustment.

Volume Settings: The HT-F6500W features Smart Volume and DRC, so you can enjoy listening to the system at any volume level.

  • Smart Volume: Smart Volume regulates and stabilizes the volume level against a drastic volume change when changing channels or during a scene transition.
  • DRC: You can use the DRC (Dynamic Range Compression) function to enjoy Dolby Digital sound when watching movies at low volume during the night. DRC compresses the audio to make the loudest sounds quieter and the quietest sounds louder.

AV Sync: Video may look slower than the audio if it is connected to a digital TV. If this occurs, you can adjust the audio delay time to match the video. You can adjust the AV Sync from 0 to 300ms (in 25ms increments).

ARC (Audio Return Channel): This feature allows audio to be sent from your compatible HDTV to the Blu-ray home theater system through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio and video to your HDTV. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to your television. The With most televisions, the ARC-enabled HDMI input will pass Dolby Digital or 2ch PCM from the TV's built-in tuner, network connection, or USB port. However, the ARC-enabled HDMI input can only pass 2ch PCM from devices connected to the TV via HDMI or analog.

Note: To get the best audio performance out of the Samsung HW-H6500WM, use the system's HDMI output and HDMI input to connect your TV and satellite/cable box separately. Connect the system's HDMI output to the ARC-enabled HDMI input on your TV and connect your satellite/cable box directly to the HW-H6500WM's HDMI input. By connecting your satellite/cable box directly to the soundbar system, you'll gain Dolby Digital/DTS decoding.

Analog + Digital Connections: The Samsung HT-H6500WM features both analog (stereo RCA) and digital (optical) audio inputs.

  • Optical Digital Input: The Samsung HW-H6500WM is equipped with an optical (toslink) digital input to connect your non-ARC enabled TV, satellite/cable box, or game console. The digital optical output terminals of most newer flat-panel TVs only send an audio signal in 5.1ch when receiving Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound from the TV's built-in tuner, network connection, or connected USB device; and will output only 2ch stereo from sources connected to the TV via HDMI, or RCA (like your Blue-ray/DVD player or satellite/cable box).
  • AUX Input: The Samsung HW-H6500WM also features a stereo RCA input to connect your analog television or other analog audio component.

Multi-Room Link: The Samsung HW-H6500WM Blu-ray home theater system supports Samsung's SHAPE wireless network speakers (sold separately), so you can enjoy audio in multiple rooms of your house. The same audio signal (2ch PCM only) being played on the HW-H6500WM system can be sent to any of your installed Samsung SHAPE network speakers (you cannot play different sources).

FM Tuner: The Samsung BD receiver features a built-in FM tuner with manual, seek, and preset tuning. You can store up to 15 FM preset stations. This receiver does not feature an AM tuner.

Network/Internet Functions

Wired or Wireless Network Connection: You can set up the Samsung Blu-ray Home Theater System so that it can access your home network and select online apps through your local area network (LAN) using a wired connection (RJ-45 Ethernet) or wireless connection (built-in WiFi). You can setup a wired network connection automatically or manually. You can setup the wireless network connection using these four methods; Automatic, Manual, WPS (PBC), or WPS (PIN). The Blu-ray HT system's built-in WiFi supports IEEE 802.11A/B/G/N wireless LAN networks and WEP (open/shared), WPA-PSK (TKIP/AES), or WPA2-PSK network security.

Note: Samsung recommends a network speed of 10Mbps or above.

WiFi Direct: When using WiFi Direct, you can connect directly with other devices without using a wireless router. You'll be able to wirelessly transfer personal content (such as photos & videos) to the Samsung Blu-ray Home Theater System without connecting to your home network. WiFi Direct completely bypasses your WiFi access point/router, so it's easy to set up. Streaming of copy-protected content and other certain formats are not supported.

Smart Apps lets you download for pay or free-of-charge applications and services to the Samsung HT-H6500WM. You are able to send non-copyrighted music, videos, and photos from a connected USB device or disc loaded in the Blu-ray HT system to a Cloud service (such as DropBox/SkyDrive) or network device over your home network and internet connection. You are then able to play these same music, video, and photo files from the Cloud or your network device through the Blu-ray system.

Web Browser You can access the internet using the Blu-ray system's Web Brower application. You can search web pages by entering a URL address or entering a keyword search. The system will archive your web browser history. You can also save "Favorite" web pages and create a "Home" page. The playback of Flash videos is also supported. The Web Browser is optimized to fill your connected TV's screen. The Web Browser provides two types of browsing; Pointer Browsing and Link Browsing.

There is and you should be able to find it online. Like most manufactures warranties it is not more than a year requires you shipping the product to a an authorized service center if you can't get to one. [ James  Nov 30, 2015 ]
Of course there is [ Bob  Nov 29, 2015 ]
Yes I believe it is 1 year but I also took out a 3 year with square trade. [ David  Nov 29, 2015 ]
I don't remember if there was since it was a gift. But, I'm pretty sure crutchfield offers one. [ Dennis  Nov 29, 2015 ]
yes.... you can cut the wire and slice in wire of similar gage. and use the same connectors to the speakers. you could just strip the insulation and tape them together or buy male and female connectors that could be soldered or connected with a crimping tool [ ROBERT  Nov 26, 2015 ]
Yes. The connections at the speakers accept bare wire leads, so simply connect additional speaker wire to the bare ends of the supplied speaker wires using, e.g., wire nuts. [ Keith  Nov 23, 2015 ]
It would be a slice job. It's just a wire so couldn't be that difficult. But haven't tried. Yes, the connection is not typical. [ Michael  Nov 23, 2015 ]
I did. I cut the wire and added about 10' to the length. I did solder the connections and did not notice any degradation in the sound quality. Worked just fine. [ Doug  Nov 23, 2015 ]
To check if the remote is working, point it at a smartphone or other camera with "live view", press a button on the remote, and see if its IR emitter flashes on the camera's screen (the camera is sensitive to IR). If not, the remote is the problem; otherwise, it's a problem with the HT receiver. [ Keith  Jun 26, 2015 ]

There is an HDMI in connector listed as Aux on menu of inputs. I believe if an HDMI from the cable box or DVR is run thru this it will utilize all speakers. I haven't done this since my DVD player is in a cabinet below the TV with a wood door making it cumbersome to use the remote. The manual says you can input any electronic device,,phone tablet,DVR [ ROBERT  Jun 26, 2015 ]
YES IT WILL BUT IT IS A BIT MORE COMPLICATED THAN THAT , VERY DEPENDENT ON YOUR CABLE/SATELLITE PROVIDER BROADCASTING IN SURROUND-- NOT ALL DO AND SOME ARE DEPENDENT ON SUBSCRIPTION TO HD SERVICES ETC--- MAY NOT ANSWER YOUR QUESTION IN ITS ENTIRETY BUT BASICS ARE YES IT WILL IF OTHER COMPONENTS PROVIDE SURROUND SIGNAL INPUT ..BEST ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH HDMI ARC CONNECTION WITH ALL DEVICES [ Kevan  Jun 24, 2015 ]
I love this system! We have it connected to a Smart TV and a Wii console and have even used it with my tablet ... no problems at all. This is a great system. [ LAUREN  Jun 23, 2015 ]
As long as you hook up the system with a monster cord. [ Kathleen  Jun 23, 2015 ]
Yes, I used a HDMI cable from the TV to the HDMI port on the back. This way you turn on surround if you want or listen to your TV by itself. [ Chuck  Jun 23, 2015 ]
Mine works great. I have it connected to a Samsung smart TV which actually links really well with the system. Note that my main source for TV (a TIVO) is connected directly to the system. [ Michael  Jun 22, 2015 ]
Don't know what you mean by this. What are you trying to do and what function are you in that needs security code? [ BARBARA  Mar 23, 2015 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: You could use a new home theater receiver with the speakers but you would need to get a separate Blu-ray player and a new subwoofer. You would also need to cut off the proprietary connector on the speaker wire to use it with a new receiver, or use all new speaker wire. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Jan 29, 2015 ]  Staff
Yes it will. [ Kathleen  Jun 23, 2015 ]
I have to stream Netflix through my blueray (with HDMI to TV and opt link to soundbar.) [ Doreen  Dec 01, 2014 ]
Due to the holiday, I had to reschedule UPS delivery and so have yet to receive my order. I did check on Samsung's 2014 Smart hub web platform before purchasing and it does include Netflix and Amazon instant video aside from many other, popular video streaming services. I will update this reply if ever it doesn't . [ Gerard  Nov 30, 2014 ]
JUST NOT THIS IS A PASSIVE SUB SO IT WILL PRODUCE SUFFICIENT BASE TO RUN MY NEIGHBORS OUT /PATIO HOME BUT NOT EARTH MOVING YOU WOULD NEED A POWERED SUB NOT SURE THIS SYSTEM SUPPORTS POWERED SUB ? [ Kevan  Jun 24, 2015 ]
I've also found the bass not to be particularly loud, although I don't personally like to shake the whole house when I watch Transformers VII: Rise of Michael Bay. When I listen to music, however, I'm all about that bass, 'bout that bass, no treble. [ Michael  Nov 16, 2014 ]
I see no other option that I am aware of [ ROBERT  Nov 16, 2014 ]

They are connected by wire to the wireless rear speaker (receiver). [ Kathleen  Jun 23, 2015 ]
no they get WIRED to a receiver which must be plugged into an outlet. No they are not wireless but you don't have to wire them from the player to the speaker. [ BARBARA  Jun 02, 2014 ]
The surround speakers connect to a wireless receiver via wires. I lucked out with an electrical outlet behind my sofa so it was really easy to hide the wires and have a power source for the wireless receiver. The front and center speakers connect to the DVD console. All the wires you need, excluding the HDMI cable, come with the system. Tip: connect the DVD console to your TV via HDMI Arc (if your TV has this port). It allows the TV sound to play through the speakers without another HDMI cable. Ours is a 65" Samsung Smart TV so connectivity was really easy and the system sounds great! Hope this helps. [ LAUREN  Jun 02, 2014 ]
You have to connect them to the adapter in outlet. They are not completely wireless. [ John  Jun 01, 2014 ]
Yes, They have keyholes. The bracket I bought wasn't perfect but does the job. [ Michael  Nov 23, 2015 ]
BUY AFTER MARKET SPEAKER BRACKETS ALL CAN BE PLACE ON BRACKETS/MOUNTS [ Kevan  Jun 24, 2015 ]
the speakers have holes in the back to hang right on the wall itself. no bracket is needed. [ Kathleen  Jun 23, 2015 ]
Bought a set of brackets at local retailer. [ Chuck  Jun 23, 2015 ]
These speakers can be mounted on the wall if you buy wall mount speaker brackets. I used the Pinpoint AM-40B Side Clamping Bookshelf Speaker Wall Mount (Pair), also available from Crutchfield. [ PHILIP  May 05, 2014 ]
