After reading multiple mixed reviews, I decided to take it for a test drive at our local brick and mortar store. The sound was impressive even though the show room is pretty big. I asked if any "tweaking" had been done to achieve the sound quality and was told it was plug_and_play. Although they had a demo unit, they did not have any in stock. I received it from Crutchfield 3 days after ordering. Setup was easy and the product looks great. The sound is crisp and the subwoofer rumbles as it should. The unit powers on automatically when I turn on the TV and the subwoofer links every time. The additional analog port allows me to connect my mp3 player and the sound is just right. The only drawback I find is that a bright white LED lights stays on when you power off the unit. No biggie but I would've liked the option to turn it off and be greener. Overall, I would give this a 4 but the value added by its reasonable price and free shipping brings it to a 4.6. I have it paired with a 42" LG LCD HDTV (which has a very poor audio system ) and the difference in sound is terrific. We enjoy prime-time sitcoms, sports, and movies and using the different audio format settings makes for very enjoyable listening. I read the negative reviews from other customers prior to purchasing but the favorable comments on this system from the Crutchfield staff urged me to buy it. I'm glad we did because it has exceeded our expectations and would highly recommend it to others. Also the wireless sub is great. But overall the sound quality isnt all that great. The main thing I dont like is having to hook it up to my satelite box and not my receiver. I have to turn up my sound on my receiver and the sound bar separately. I would only recommend buying this if you dont have a receiver or other speakers to hook up. It sat in the box for nearly 3 weeks before I could get someone to install it. Then I waited to long to try and return it, the 30 days had expired. The fan is NOISY, at times it makes chipmunk sounds as if the video is on fast forward (live tv), low rumbling hums constantly and intermittent loud pops and crackles. I don't use it. It sits in the box in a corner. I don't even want to sell this inferior product on ebay, just wouldn't be right unless I told them it's a piece of junk. Crutchfield said our only alternative was to send it to Samsung for repair. Just don't think it would help. We spent over $3800 on our system when we purchased this sound bar, everything else is top notch (ok tv sound not so good, thus the sound bar), which is what we expected from Crutchfield. By the way, this sound bar looks great with the Samsung UN40B7000 40" 1080p LED TV I bought it for, so if you want something that looks great and sounds terrible, this is it. 3 out of 14 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Unpacked the unit and did the set up which was relatively easy. I did have a problem with pairing the woofer to the bar, but was able to resolve it. The sound from the bar was very poor, it was not that much different from the TV sound. I will say that the sound was a little more crisp than the TV, but not worth the money. The woofer has very low bass, so there was not much definition to the sound. All in all very dissapointing! Part of the problem may be that I placed this unit in a room that is open and 20x18 feet. I own a Samsung Series 8 46" LCD HDTV. As much as I love the amazingly clear picture which rivals that of the LED TV, I love the sound quality of the HT-WS1. It takes only a few minutes to mount and connect the speaker unit near the television. Balancing the unit's sound with the television speakers is easy and rewarding. I prefer the HT-WS1's "Music" mode for the smoothest, deepest sound. The wireless subwoofer delivers great bass sound anywhere in the room. If you own a Samsung television with Touch Of Color styling, I highly recommend the HT-WS1 as a home theatre audio option. You can also synchronize the remote with your Samsung TV so that the HT-WS1R and the television turns On/Off via the optical digital signal.

After reading multiple mixed reviews, I decided to take it for a test drive at our local brick and mortar store. The sound was impressive even though the show room is pretty big. I asked if any "tweaking" had been done to achieve the sound quality and was told it was plug_and_play. Although they had a demo unit, they did not have any in stock. I received it from Crutchfield 3 days after ordering. Setup was easy and the product looks great. The sound is crisp and the subwoofer rumbles as it should. The unit powers on automatically when I turn on the TV and the subwoofer links every time. The additional analog port allows me to connect my mp3 player and the sound is just right. The only drawback I find is that a bright white LED lights stays on when you power off the unit. No biggie but I would've liked the option to turn it off and be greener. Overall, I would give this a 4 but the value added by its reasonable price and free shipping brings it to a 4.6. I have it paired with a 42" LG LCD HDTV (which has a very poor audio system ) and the difference in sound is terrific. We enjoy prime-time sitcoms, sports, and movies and using the different audio format settings makes for very enjoyable listening. I read the negative reviews from other customers prior to purchasing but the favorable comments on this system from the Crutchfield staff urged me to buy it. I'm glad we did because it has exceeded our expectations and would highly recommend it to others. Also the wireless sub is great. But overall the sound quality isnt all that great. The main thing I dont like is having to hook it up to my satelite box and not my receiver. I have to turn up my sound on my receiver and the sound bar separately. I would only recommend buying this if you dont have a receiver or other speakers to hook up. It sat in the box for nearly 3 weeks before I could get someone to install it. Then I waited to long to try and return it, the 30 days had expired. The fan is NOISY, at times it makes chipmunk sounds as if the video is on fast forward (live tv), low rumbling hums constantly and intermittent loud pops and crackles. I don't use it. It sits in the box in a corner. I don't even want to sell this inferior product on ebay, just wouldn't be right unless I told them it's a piece of junk. Crutchfield said our only alternative was to send it to Samsung for repair. Just don't think it would help. We spent over $3800 on our system when we purchased this sound bar, everything else is top notch (ok tv sound not so good, thus the sound bar), which is what we expected from Crutchfield. By the way, this sound bar looks great with the Samsung UN40B7000 40" 1080p LED TV I bought it for, so if you want something that looks great and sounds terrible, this is it. 3 out of 14 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? I returned this in exchange for the HT-CT100 soundbar from sony. It works much better and has input from upto three devices via HDMI as well as from the TV. The sound volume is much better. Unpacked the unit and did the set up which was relatively easy. I did have a problem with pairing the woofer to the bar, but was able to resolve it. The sound from the bar was very poor, it was not that much different from the TV sound. I will say that the sound was a little more crisp than the TV, but not worth the money. The woofer has very low bass, so there was not much definition to the sound. All in all very dissapointing! Part of the problem may be that I placed this unit in a room that is open and 20x18 feet. I own a Samsung Series 8 46" LCD HDTV. As much as I love the amazingly clear picture which rivals that of the LED TV, I love the sound quality of the HT-WS1. It takes only a few minutes to mount and connect the speaker unit near the television. Balancing the unit's sound with the television speakers is easy and rewarding. I prefer the HT-WS1's "Music" mode for the smoothest, deepest sound. The wireless subwoofer delivers great bass sound anywhere in the room. If you own a Samsung television with Touch Of Color styling, I highly recommend the HT-WS1 as a home theatre audio option.
