Today's large-screen HDTVs are missing one key ingredient: great sound. Add the Samsung HW-H450 sound bar and wireless subwoofer to the mix, and you'll have a recipe for exciting home theater that's hassle-free and sure to please. You'll realize just how inadequate your TV's speakers are once you hear this system's powerful output, with the bar producing clear, detailed sound along with the punchy bass of the wireless sub. You'll get more out of your favorite movies, TV shows, and tunes, without having to jump through a lot of hoops to get started.
The slim HW-H450 can rest on your TV stand or be mounted on your wall. You can place the slim subwoofer just about anywhere. It syncs wirelessly with the sound bar, for deep bass response that adds impact to movies and music without a long wire running across your floor. Worried those loud scenes will wake sleeping children or spouse? The Smart Volume feature prevents drastic changes in volume, either during a movie or while watching TV with annoyingly loud commercial interruptions.
Keep your smartphone around when you're near this sound bar. It's got Bluetooth onboard, so you can wirelessly stream music from your device to the bar for rich, full-range sound that fills your room. You can even turn on the sound bar with your Bluetooth-compatible device by simply pairing them. If you have a Bluetooth-compatible Samsung TV, you can connect the HW-H450 to it wirelessly, giving you a little more setup flexibility. That's a lot more Bluetooth functionality than we're used to seeing in sound bars or any other home audio component.
The HW-H450 has another cool feature not found on many sound bars: a USB port. You can load up a thumb drive with your favorite digital music, pop it in the rear-panel port, and leave it there, so you always have music cued up and ready to play. Even with a wall-mounted bar, you won't lose access to the USB port. The HW-H450 includes a USB cable and adapter, so you can use thumb drives without direct access to the rear-panel port.
Add big sound to your TV without a roomful of speakers. Sound bars require minimal space and wiring, and their sleek designs complement today's flat-panel TVs. Most sound bars have their own built-in amplification, so you won't need to use a home theater receiver. Some models use advanced surround processing and carefully aimed speaker drivers to simulate the effects of a full home theater audio system.
Hard to beat for the price! Has adequate sound for it's size and price
Pros: Easy to setup with included cables.
Cons: No cons - I love Samsung equipment!
This is a great sound bar. The sound is great and easy to hook up. I like how it has several connectivity options including Bluetooth. The 3-D sound really is a nice enhancement.
Pros: Easy set up Several connectivity options Bluetooth
Works great, very nice quality
easy hookup, but I had to call tech support!! he helped and it works fine. Made my Samsung TV sound good.
Pros: cheap, easy set up, looks good.
Cons: direction book not completely reliable.
Much better than TVs speakers and an acceptable substitute where a proper surround sound system is not practical .
Pros: Ease of set up ,sound quality .
Cons: Should have ability to mount on same brand (Samsung) TV instead of just wall mount .
Our Samsung isn't our home theater tv...it's the living room TV. We don't need boom...we need clear, ample audio and would like to minimize the number of remotes. This package does the trick. It was simple to setup...looks great...sounds perfectly fine. You will not get a big room/theater sound out of the bar or the sub...that's not what this is for. But I hooked up via ARC and the TV/soundbar now power/volume as one. It's great.
Pros: Perfect add-on to the Samsung TV
Easy to set up, performance is better then expected for the price point
Great soundbar, easy to set up and a great improvement over the TV sound.
Pros: Perfect size and easy to set up.
Superb. Wish I had a wee bit more control of bass & treble. Very satisfied.
Pros: Ease of set-up. Cool compatibility with all-Samsung gear
A high quality product for the price.
Pros: Easy set up, Bluetooth, quality sound for smaller rooms.
Cons: Like with all sound bars, don't expect to get a huge sound system sound. For larger rooms you still need a full surround setup with a large receiver.
First soundbar I have ever bought. Purchased primarily to allow me to more clearly hear dialog (I have a hearing discrimination problem). It helped a little, but not much. Also, there didn't seem to be much output from the sub-woofer, and when cranked to highest setting, had an annoying background sound. After a little more research, I decided to buy a unit made by a speaker company such as Yamaha, Polk, Klipsch, etc. I returned this unit and purchased the Klipsch Icon SB 1 and couldn't be happier. I was able to turn off the captions and can now hear and decipher most of what is being said (some accents and low dialog are still a problem, but I suspect they would be anyway.
Pros: Easy to set up. Bluetooth and HDMI connections. Probably a good unit if you have to hearing problems - definitely an improvement over TV speakers.
Cons: Can barely read dialog window from a distance. Not great sound clarity, especially in the subwoofer.
Great sound in a compact, attractive package. Works seamlessly with my Samsung 60 inch TV.
Pros: great sound
If you are looking for a stereo symphony of epic proportions, no, this is not it. If you want a sound bar that is light, yet increases the volume of your TV and has a few nifty features that come with it, and is especially good for connecting to newer Samsung TV's, then this is nirvana. I had the latest plasma set from Samsung bought a few months ago yet when watching certain programs you literally had to turn the volume all the way up to the full 100. I bought this and tried the Bluetooth connectivity options specifically spelled out for working with Samsung TV's and was done in literally 3 minutes. The options for voice modes are simple, and though not a big difference, at least you have those options. The wireless woofer instantly connected, zero issues, and its a lightweight woofer. If you want greater capabilities or such you'll need a bigger bar, but for the price it does well in an average room.
Pros: Has the HDMI port to take on a broader range of formats from Dolby and such. Also has optical and a USP port for plugging in music. Connects very quickly to Samsung TV's and frankly had zero issues on turning up the bar and woofer, so fast turn up. Price is quite good.
Cons: Probably could use more internal speakers but this is a mid-range model and there are more Samsung options. Would have been nice to have had two small satellite speakers with it similar to Vizio's, but then the Vizio at comparable price point had no HDMI port. You get power but don't expect this to be a receiver with crisp preciseness.
Product worked great right out of box
I bought this system for my boyfriend for his birthday as he expressed that he wanted a sound bar. After some research, I decided to buy this based on previous reviews and the price was within budget. I was away when he installed it, but upon returning home we had an at home movie date. As the movie started, I never expected such clarity and sound out of this sound bar. I was impressed by the decision I made and he is happy with it. BT connection was a breeze.
Cons: It did not come with the necessary plugs to connect. Therefore, he had to buy the cords from radio shack (I think hdmi).
We are not avid TV watchers. Our 42" flat screen in our 12 x 15 room averages a movie a month and < 5 hours a month of netflicks TV shows. We have endured the poor TV's sound quality for 4 years. This sound bar with sub-woofer appeared to match our desire for better sound on a budget. The installation is straightforward and I adjusted the limited settings available for minimal treble, maximum bass, and maximum sub-woofer volume. I was underwhelmed with the bass output. I placed the sub-woofer in several locations attempting to increase the volume but found that unless I had the volume at ~ 35 (at which point the sound bar is too loud), the bass was non-existent. If I put my ear into the sub-woofer horn I can tell the speaker is functioning- it just isn't being driven hard enough. I read a review where another person returned this model for the H550 and was satisfied. Given the size of my room and budget, this is not an option. If you like bass in your sound then this is not the product for you.
Pros: crisp trebles, HDMI in/out to play Dolby if your TV won't send Dolby through digital audio output
Cons: minimal bass, minimal adjustments of sound
I personally own this unit, and my sister in law was in the market for an upgrade to her built in TV speakers. We gave this to her as a gift, I installed it as it is really easy to install. It was also great to know that Crutchfield was there as a back-up if I needed any assistance.
Pros: Easy to connect. I connected mine with HDMI (ARC) so that it comes on/off with TV as well as adjusts volume with a single remote. Sister in Law does not have ARC, but was easy enough to connect through Digital cable.
Cons: Remote seems a little flimsy to me, however I don't have to use it very often. Overall, great product for the $$.
Husband asked for a soundbar and the subwoofer was an added plus, although I don't hear a lot coming from the subwoofer. The price was doable.
Pros: Inexpensive and the soundbar sounds good
Cons: Subwoofer hasn't shown me much
Great sound with this Soundbar! Excellent quality and a very reasonable price!
Pros: Easy to use, great sound, reasonable price
Sounds fine but didn't fulfill the clarity that I wanted from a sound system.
Pros: Nice sound but not a clear as I hoped for TV programs
Cons: Have to change sound buttons to match different the received programs. Wanted a system that would give me clear voice sound as I switched channels
Overall a very good addition to my Samsung TV. Sound is much better than the speakers that are in the TV. Hooking the TV to the sound bar with an HDMI cable enables the TV remote to control the Sound Bar so you don't have another remote to worry about.
Pros: Nice look. Fits right in front of my TV. Nice sound. Unobtrusive Crutchfield team was able to assist with getting the Bass speaker connected to the sound bar
Cons: Documentation on how to get the Blu-tooth Bass speaker connected to the sound bar is no good..
I was looking for a way to boost the sound of my Samsung TV. However, I didn't want to be cheap (you get what you pay for) or go crazy (sound bar would cost more than the TV). After doing research (including listening to this and others at a big box store), it was clear to me that this was the right choice. Setup was easy and it's not obtrusive, and the sound is great. Crutchfield staff was helpful with the decision making process. In the 8 months I've had it I've yet to crank it but even at minimal (12 - 20) it fills my open room.
Pros: Great buy for the money, sound is super!
Great Sound Bar, and it was free with my TV purchase. so easy to install, again Crutchfield, you guys rock!
Pros: Blue Tooth, so cool, very easy installation, sounds fantastic!!
This system was extremely easy to set up, and the sound is far better than what you would get with just your TV's onboard speakers. And unlike other soundbars I've owned, it was compact and sleek-looking.
Pros: Ease of setup, and good sound quality.
Cons: Lack of multiple HDMI inputs to accommodate more components.
Very nice sound quality, almost as good as surround sound.
We received this soundbar with the purchase of a Samsung TV. The sound quality is decent although the subwoofer is a little lackluster. I was hoping to use it with a stand-alone TV down the basement which does not support ARC, however since there is only one HDMI input and we don't want a separate receiver there we won't be able to use it.
Cons: Only one HDMI input
I received this soundbar as part of a special offer with the Samsung UN55H6350 TV I ordered. I had a wired soundbar, but with this soundbar one can place the sub-woofer behind the viewer and I think it gives one a much better sound. It was super easy to set-up with the Samsung UN55H6350 TV's remote controlling the TV, soundbar and BlueRay player. Very nice unit.
Pros: Easy set-up Very good sound Nice look
Cons: It could have a bit more power for cranking up Pandora tunes, but for TV/Movie viewing it is just what I wanted.
simple set-up and install as it paired perfectly with my Samsung smart TV. The unit only cost me a modest amount with my TV and that's all I would pay for it. For the full retail price I would except something much better. Not much bass coming from the woofer and the sound bar isn't much better
Pros: Simple set up and install
Cons: Sound and Bass is horrible at best. For the price I would expect something much much better
Excellent soundbar for the price !! I'm sure other higher priced units may sound deeper but I'm very pleased with mine. Samsung rocks!
Pros: Easy to setup. Multiple points for audio connection type. Good size too. Wireless subwoofer is a must have !!
Cons: None !!
I have this sound bar connected to a Samsung smart TV via Bluetooth. Most of the time it works well, except sometimes the dialog will be garbled. Netflix will drop the sound intermittently if it is set to 5.1 surround. It works fine when Netflix is set to Stereo mode. I have not tried connecting the sound bar through any wired connection (difficult since my TV is wall mounted), but that may solve the intermittent garbling sound. I'm not sure that will fix the Netflix issue. Overall, the sound quality is good, not great, but good. It has more depth than the TV speakers alone.
Pros: Sound Quality, Connection options
Cons: Bluetooth connection to TV could be better
While the bar pairs easily with a samsung tv either wirelessly or via an ARC HDMI connection the sound quality is not that much better than the built in TV speakers on my samsung panel which are weak to begin with. The subwoofer is underpowered and the vocal sounds from the sound bar are muddied. I returned it for a Klipsch Icon SB-1 and couldn't be happier. The Klipsch is slightly more expensive but much much better in sound quality.
Pros: Weak subwoofer
Cons: Good bluetooth connectivity and options to connect to tv
I wanted a Samsung sound bar to go with my new Samsung TV but didn't like the exposed speaker disign of the HW-F450 so I was happy when the HW-H450 came out. This unit was easy to mount and synced up with the TV's Bluetooth which allows it to turn on and off automatically when the TV is turned on and off without the addition of an HDMI cable. My wife likes it because you only need the one remote to control the sound bar once you're setup. The slim design looks nice mounted under the TV and doesn't stick out like the speaker I replaced. The sound is acceptable for what I spent on the unit, let's me hear the dialogue clearly and brings you into the action with the wireless bass unit that comes with it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because you still need to make adjusments like Bass and Mode with the supplied remote instead of the TV remote and the unit takes about 10 seconds to sync up to the TV when you first turn it on. I was impressed by how fast the team at Crutchfield got it to my door step from the time I ordered it. Thanks.
Pros: Nice slim design, good dialogue audio, Easy to connect with Bluetooth. Works great with Samsung TV
Excellent Product....Extremely easy to setup right out of the box. Sound is impressive coming from both sound bar and wireless subwoofer. An added plus was the extremely fast and free 2 day shipping from Ctrutchfield !!! Thanks Again
Pros: Easy Setup....Sounds Amazing....Very sleek and well designed.

Wireless Audio Soundbar System: The Samsung HW-H450 wireless audio soundbar system is a 2.1-channel audio system that lets you experience a rich, powerful virtual surround sound from just two active speakers; a soundbar & wireless subwoofer. The slim, compact Samsung HW-H450 's soundbar can be mounted on the wall or placed on a table-top, while the wireless powered subwoofer can be positioned anywhere in the room to achieve maximum audio performance. The system offers HDMI, optical, stereo minijack, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity.
Active Soundbar: The soundbar is a self-powered, two-channel speaker which provides enveloping virtual surround sound from a single speaker. The soundbar includes multiple full-range drivers housed in an acoustic suspension (sealed) enclosure. The soundbar features a built-in 80 watts x 2-channel amplifier to drive its speakers. The soundbar is designed to be mounted directly below or above your flat-panel HDTV in a horizontal orientation. The soundbar can be placed on a shelf or table-top. The soundbar also includes a wall-mount bracket which allows you to fix the speaker to your wall. The soundbar offers analog audio and digital audio/video connections (including HDMI), as well as Bluetooth connectivity.
Wireless Powered Subwoofer: The wireless powered subwoofer receives its low-frequency audio signal wirelessly from the soundbar via 2.4GHz transmission. There are no cords to connect, except the AC power cord. You can place the wireless powered subwoofer up to 33' away from the soundbar. The wireless powered subwoofer features a rear-firing 6.5" woofer inside a bass-reflex cabinet with a rear-firing port. The woofer is powered by a built-in 130 watt amplifier.
Surround Sound Decoding: The Samsung HW-H450 wireless audio soundbar system employs decoders compatible with Dolby Digital, DTS, and Samsung's Sound Effect modes.
HDMI 1.4 Input/Output: The soundbar of the Samsung HW-H450 wireless audio soundbar system is fitted with an HDMI 1.4 input and HDMI 1.4 output. HDMI transmits video and audio signals simultaneously for a simpler connection, and provides a clearer picture and better sound. The unit's HDMI input and output support 3D-video, Deep Color, and x.v.Color pass-through. The HDMI output also supports ARC. You should connect your Blu-ray player or satellite/cable box directly to the HW-H450's HDMI input and then connect the soundbar system's HDMI output to your flat-panel TV's ARC-enabled HDMI input.
Note: The With most televisions, the ARC-enabled HDMI input will pass Dolby Digital or 2ch PCM from the TV's built-in tuner, network connection or USB port. However, the ARC-enabled HDMI input can only pass 2ch PCM from devices connected to the TV via HDMI or analog.
Bluetooth Technology: The Samsung wireless audio soundbar system features built-in Bluetooth (v.2.0) for wireless audio streaming and Samsung's new TV SoundConnect function.
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Samsung HW-H450.
Analog + Digital Inputs: The Samsung HW-H450 wireless audio soundbar system features both analog (3.5mm) and digital (optical) audio inputs.
Note: To get the best audio performance out of the Samsung HW-H450, use the system's HDMI input and optical digital input to connect your Blu-ray player and satellite/cable box. Then connect the system's HDMI output to your TV's HDMI ARC input. By connecting your Blu-ray player and satellite/cable box directly to the soundbar system, you'll gain Dolby Digital/DTS decoding from these two sources.
USB Port: You can connect and play music files from external USB mass storage class devices (such as smartphones, MP3 players or USB thumbrives) using the soundbar's rear-panel USB (type-A) port, right-angle USB adapter, and included USB extension cable. The HW-H450 supports USB devices formatted in FAT16/32 with MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, FLAC, or OGG music files. You can control basic playback functions; such as Play/Pause, Fast-Forward/Backward, Previous/Next Track, and Repeat/Random. The system will also charge (5V/0.5A) your connected USB device.
Software Upgrades: Samsung may offer upgrades for the system's firmware in the future. Upgrades will be possible by downloading firmware upgrades to a USB thumbdrive and connecting the thumbdrive to the soundbar's USB port.
Audio Settings: The Samsung wireless audio soundbar system provides various audio adjustments to customize your listening experience.
Remote Control w/ Anynet+: The included IR remote control provides wireless operation of the Samsung HW-H450 system. Anynet+ is a convenient feature that offers linked operation with other Samsung components (up to 12) that have the Anynet+ feature, and lets you control those products with one Samsung remote control. To operate this function, you must connect Samsung HW-H450 wireless audio soundbar system to an Anynet+ Samsung TV using an HDMI cable.
Auto Power On/Off: The Samsung wireless audio soundbar system offers Auto Power On/Off functionality.

Bluetooth wireless with the ability to hardwire if desired. [ Patrick Jun 30, 2015 ]
The sound bar is wired but the woofer is wireless except for the wall plug. [ DAVE Jun 30, 2015 ]
Wired back to the tv but Bluetooth to the sub. [ ANAND Jun 30, 2015 ]
Mine is both wired and wireless. Input sources are hard wired, bluetooth, or Samsung's device to device wireless, e.g. TV to sound bar (never bothered to check what it is). The sound bar/subwoofer connection is wireless and the delay has minor adjustments depending on your room. [ Ian Jun 30, 2015 ]
You can connect to the sound bar via Bluetooth, USB, HDMI, optical digital, or 3.5 mm jack. The bass frequencies are wirelessly transmitted to the woofer. Both the sound bar and the woofer need AC power. [ Daniel Jun 30, 2015 ]
dont have direct tv.....and gave soundbar away as a gift...sorry. [ Ryan Jan 28, 2015 ]
Haven't tried, I just use the soundbar remote as I only use it for a few specific times like movies, car racing... Rose [ Rosalie Jan 25, 2015 ]
Not directly Dave. If your TV supports ARC, audio return channel, any remote that will turn your TV volume up or down will work. Connecting the sound bar in this way also cause the sound bar to power up automatically when the TV is turned on. See page 17 of the owners manual. Hope this helps. [ Daniel Jan 25, 2015 ]
My remote will allow me to only change the volume setting. [ John Jan 25, 2015 ]

Is this only applicable for Samsung TV? [ noel Dec 27, 2014 ]
No, the TV does not need to have a Bluetooth for the sound bar to work. My TV is a 9 year old Samsung and it connects by HDMI to the sound bar. The subwoofer connects via Bluetooth to the sound bar not the TV. [ Francis Dec 01, 2014 ]
No Bluetooth is an option it also has 1hdmi input, aux input like the head phone jack and the optical input [ Robert F. Dec 01, 2014 ]
My doesn't either. I use the bluetooth on the soundbar to stream from my smartphone or computer. It could be worthwhile to know if you TV can utilize the smartTV function with the soundbar. My TV doesn't have this option - it's probably five years old. I have to connect my TV to the soundbar via HDMI cables. [ Doreen Dec 01, 2014 ]
I do know that I didn't have any issues. I also had a pretty new Samsung tv and I think that all I had to do was plug in the power supply. It synced through Bluetooth. It provides good base that you don't get through the tv when watching car racing or movies. [ Rosalie Nov 24, 2014 ]
Gave away as a gift - sorry I cannot be more help. [ Ryan Nov 24, 2014 ]
It comes with a drilling template for wall installation if needed. I did not go this route. I placed it on my tv stand. One optical cable to the TV and two available wall power outlets are needed. One for the bass unit and one for the sound bar. [ Theodore Nov 24, 2014 ]
I mounted the HW-H450 sound bar on the wall under the TV in a 400 square foot, relatively square room. I was subsequently not pleased with the quality of the sound and returned the HW-H450 to Crutchfield in exchange for a Bose sound bar system. I have been very pleased with the Bose system. [ BOB Nov 24, 2014 ]
I used the hdmi connection to install, it is fairly straight forward. The subwoofer pairs to the system via a wireless connection so no need to hook anything up there. Just plug in the power chords, and run the hdmi connection on the back to the sound bar to an open port on the tv. I believe it automatically recognizes it when you turn on the soundbar, if not scroll through the source list on the sound bar to find it. I believe via an hdmi hookup the connection is labeled D. In or TV ARC... [ Matthew Nov 24, 2014 ]
Plug into wall, plug I optical cable and tell tv external speaker. [ Michael Nov 24, 2014 ]
It was easy for me to install with my Samsung TV. I just connected it to the TV via HDMI cable to the ARC enabled HDMI port on my TV and it worked seamlessly. Then I plugged the subwoofer in and turned on the power. When you turn the TV on the soundbar turns on and the sub turns on. It takes about 20-30 seconds for the soundbar to take over the sound and then the remote controls the level with the sound control. [ Juan Nov 24, 2014 ]
