The viewfinder on the Samsung NX30 tilts upward so you can photograph from different angles.
With a large imaging sensor and high-quality optics, we know the Samsung NX30 is capable of taking gorgeous pictures; it's just up to you to find the subjects that inspire you. The camera takes the guesswork out of shooting, offering a tilting, swiveling 3" OLED screen that lets you see what you're aiming at from any angle. Samsung took the next logical step as well, adding a tilting electronic viewfinder so you can peer comfortably into the eyepiece even when you're shooting from a low angle. If you can see it, you can shoot it.
The NX30 comes with an 18-55mm lens in the box. It's an ideal lens for getting started with hands-on photography: it can handle anything from a beautiful portrait to wildlife shots, allowing you to zoom in on exactly the feature you want to see. The lens is removable, so you can swap in other optional Samsung NX-mount lenses as you grow as a photographer.
The NX30 features a lightning-quick shutter that can freeze motion down to 1/8000th of a second. Hybrid autofocus technology locks in on the important part of the image and keeps it razor-sharp as the shutter snaps.
Samsung Photo Beam lets you send photos to any NFC-compatible smartphone. Just touch the camera to the device to automatically share the image you're viewing. You can also select and send photos or albums directly to a smartphone or tablet with Samsung Mobile Link. Use Group Share to send images to up to four people simultaneously. Samsung has built in wireless technology that gives you so many ways to share your masterpieces.
These digital cameras combine the creative options of a DSLR with portability that's more like that of a point-and-shoot. Their automatic modes will help you take striking pictures from day one without having to be an expert. However, like DSLRs, mirrorless cameras have interchangeable lenses, and advanced control and processing. You can explore these features for even better results as you take time to learn more about the hobby. Cameras in this class have large image sensors for beautifully detailed pictures, but their mirrorless design means the camera bodies and matching lenses can be smaller, lighter, and more portable great for snapping memorable pics when you're on the move.
This camera is highly rated by Consumer Reports, which is one reason I bought it. Others have said many good things about it as well. Coming from an SLR background, when I was young, in many ways this is a very comfortable camera to operate. It's clear Samsung engineers & designers really worked hard on this camera to make it good. It has many, many features and it takes more than a few days to learn how to use the camera well. Especially if you, like I, have become accustomed to point-and-shoot digital cameras, you will probably find that operating the majority of this camera's features will require watching some YouTube videos and/or reading the manual. The camera has an auto-focus which typically works well, but using it skillfully requires the LCD screen, not just the viewfinder. It can take images inside/indoors that my smart phone would probably not handle well, and it can do that without a flash, much of the time. So far I am very favorably impressed.
Pros: Built-in viewfinder liberates you from always using the LCD screen, and the viewfinder is highly adjustable. Ready to take pictures immediately. Many, many well thought out features and options. Kudos to Samsung! For example, the viewfinder has a proximity sensor which turns it on only when you raise the camera to your eye. Image quality seems impressive to me.
Cons: Built-in flash insufficient for many low-light/indoor situations. You probably will need an external flash.
Scratch & Dent items may be missing non-essential accessories. In some cases the manufacturer's accessories have been replaced with generic equivalents.
