Features
HDTV (ATSC) Tuner: The md6580n has a
built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) tuner, so you don't have to purchase a
separate digital set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV
signals.
CableCARD Slot: This TV has a
CableCARD slot that allows digital cable reception without a set-top
box. CableCARDs will be available from your local cable provider.
Input Access:
The input/output panel is conveniently accessible from the front of the TV. A
door across the bottom flips down to reveal the lighted, recessed input and
output jacks. The cables are routed through a channel to the back of the set so
they stay out of sight.
1080p Resolution:
The advanced 1080p display produces about 2 million pixels on screen, which is
more than twice that of a conventional 720p display. This allows 1920x1080i signals to be displayed without scaling down the image to 1280x720. By
simply de-interlacing the full 1080i signal, this display keeps the full image
detail.
Native Resolution: The md6580n
has a display resolution of 1920x1080. The HDMI and component video inputs will
accept 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i signals, and all input signals are displayed as 1920x1080.
1080p Input: Unlike most
current 1080p displays, the md6580n will accept a 1080p (progressive) input
signal via the HDMI and component video jacks. Both 24 and 30 frames/second
rates are supported.
Picture-In-Picture (PIP): The
PIP feature will display a second source two ways; with a smaller picture inset
over the main picture, or with two pictures side by side (with adjustable size).
One of the sources must be the internal tuner, the second must be an external
source (HDMI, Video 1, etc).
Favorite Channels: You can
program your favorite channels from the cable input to be easily recalled using the Favorite button.
Picture Size: When viewing a
source with an aspect ratio other than 16:9 you can choose how it's displayed:
- 4:3 Original
- Display the image in its original
format with bars on the sides
- Stretch the image horizontally to
fill the screen
- 2.35:1 Original (Wider than 16:9)
- Display the image in its original
format with bars on the top and bottom
- Enlarge the picture to fill
the screen, trims both sides
Picture Modes: You can select
one of the following picture modes:
- Normal: Most programs in
average light
- Movie: For a darkened room
- Vivid: For TV and bright
light
- Studio: Professional
studios and calibration labs
Volume Leveling: Continually
adjusts the the volume to maintain an even level and avoid large changes.
Source Label: You can assign a
recognizable name to each input.
SRS TruSurround XT: TruSurround
simulates the rich surround sound experience with just stereo speakers.
Subwoofer: The md6580n has a
built-in subwoofer.
Quiet Mode: In quiet mode the
internal subwoofer is turned off and just the stereo speakers are active.
Sleep Timer: The sleep timer
switches the television off after a specified amount of time.
Visual Select: You can
simultaneously display a small thumbnail image from each input, then select the
input you want by highlighting the image.
Brightness Boost: You can
generate a brighter picture using the brightness boost.
Remote Control
Multi-brand Remote:
The supplied remote is pre-programmed to operate this unit and a number of
functions on other brand components, including VCRs, Digital Video
Recorders, cable boxes, satellite receivers, DVD players, receivers and Home
Theater systems, and HP Digital Entertainment Centers.
Input and Output Notes
HDMI Inputs (1&2): In addition to the HDMI jack, the HDMI 2 input has
stereo RCA audio inputs. The HDMI jacks
can accommodate copy-protected digital connections (HDCP) to other devices
(such as digital set-top boxes) that have compatible interfaces. If you want to connect a DVI-compatible device, you will
need an HDMI-to-DVI adapter cable. The HDMI jacks will accept 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i
signals.
Component Video Inputs: The two component video inputs will accept
1080p, 1080i, 720p,
480p, and 480i signals.
Video: The three video inputs have stereo RCA, composite video, and
S-video jacks.
Computer: A D-Sub 15 VGA input along with a stereo mini-plug for audio
allows you to use the md6580n as a computer monitor.
Audio Output: The md6580n has analog stereo RCA and coaxial digital
outputs. The digital output can be set to PCM or Automatic, which passes a Dolby
Digital bitstream when available.

the other for cable input.
