Overview: The Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG OS (Model #572) is a
high quality lens for travel, nature, wildlife, and family photography. The lens has the
Canon EF mount, and comes with a lens hood, and front and rear caps.
Sigma DG Lenses: This Sigma DG lens is designed for use with
full-frame digital SLRs, but can be used with DSLRs with APC-C-sized image
sensors. DG lenses offer high contrast and subtle tonal gradations, but is
resistant to flare and ghosting. The lens' Super Multi-Layer Coating suppresses
reflections between the image sensor and the lens surfaces.
Optical Stabilization (OS): The lens has a two-way
switch to activate (or turn off) the built-in optical stabilization. When
switched to the On position, the optical stabilization compensates for camera
shake, especially in low-light or long zoom situations when the camera is
hand-held. When using the OS feature, it is possible to get sharp results at shutter
speeds approximately 4 stops slower than you could without it.
Lens Hood: The 70-300mm lens includes a bayonet-type
detachable lens hood to help
prevent stray light from entering the lens, causing flare, and to protect the
lens from rain, snow, and dust. When not in use, the lens hood can be inverted
and mounted onto the lens backwards for storage.
Focus Mode Switch: The lens features a two-way switch for
setting the focus mode: AF (auto focus) or MF (manual focus).
