Attention, budding pros

Attention APS-C camera owners: if you've wanted the versatile focal length and constant aperture of a pro's typical favorite event-photography lens — this Sigma Photo 50-150mm f/2.8 telephoto zoom lens is one you're going to have to consider carefully early on. With an effective focal length of 75-225mm on most APS-C cameras, it's suitable for terrific portraits and opportunistic candids. Talk about checking all the "I want" boxes — this lens features all the bells and whistles: a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture, Hyper-Sonic Motor, optical stabilization, and EX-designated build quality. If your shooting situation places you at any distance from your subject, this is a lens that has the responsiveness and versatility to make you look like you're everywhere at once.

The f/2.8 aperture being available throughout the zoom range means this lens provides excellent performance in low-light situations, regardless of your focal length. Optical stabilization makes it possible to take sharp pictures, hand-held, with slower shutter speeds. HSM means your autofocus motor will perform silently and quickly, and of course EX build quality means you'll rely on this lens over and over again for years to come. Let's face it, if you were facing a situation where professional results were required, or even if you just expect them from yourself, wouldn't you want a lens with these characteristics in your gig bag? No wonder this lens is a favorite of working journalists, event photographers, and wedding pros worldwide.

The Sigma 50-150mm HSM OS for Nikon.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After much research I settled on the sigma 50-150 as opposed to the 70- 200 for my trusty D2x. Since this model has been discontinued it was difficult to find one unused, fortunately this seller had one left. So far the lens works great on all points and in my opinion is a perfect lens for my needs as a amateur/ Pro. photographer. However on the downside it doesn't have as long of a reach as the 70-200. But that's ok with me since I don't use often enough to justify the cost. Otherwise the lens is great, the seller was easy to work with and I am happy with my purchase.

Pros: Well built, Sharp focus.

Cons: Heavy.
