Product Research

Features

Overview: The EF-140S is an electronic flash unit, designed for use with the Sigma DP-series cameras, including the dp2 Quattro. The flash will illuminate an area that covers the angle of a 19mm lens with the DP-series of cameras.

Flash Modes: The EF-140S offers two flash modes: TTL Auto and Manual. In the TTL Auto flash mode, the camera will control the amount of flash to get the appropriate exposure. Manual flash can be obtained by setting the flash mode switch to Manual and the camera to manual exposure. The camera's aperture setting can be calculated using the following formula: GN (guide number) / D (distance to subject) = F stop. The Guide Number varies according to the camera's ISO setting:

ISO 50 ISO 100 ISO 200 ISO 400 ISO 800 ISO 1600 ISO 3200
10 14 20 28 40 56 80

Power Requirements: The EF-140S is powered by two "AAA" batteries (not included). You can use alkaline, Ni-MH, Lithium, or Oxyride batteries. The typical battery life is as follows:

Battery Type Recycle Time Number of Flashes
Ni-MH 5.5 seconds Approx. 170 flashes
Alkaline 5.5 seconds Approx. 90 flashes
Lithium 6.5 seconds Approx. 260 flashes
Oxyride 5 seconds Approx. 100 flashes

Auto Power Off: The flash unit will automatically turn itself off when the flash is not used for approximately 5 minutes. You can turn the flash back on by pressing the camera's shutter button halfway.
