The Precision Interface Electronics ALP/AI-AUX adapter allows you to connect an Alpine Ai-NET changer and an auxiliary source to the changer input on your Alpine Ai-NET receiver. If no CD changer is present, this adapter can still be used to connect an auxiliary source to an Alpine "Versatile-Link" radio (compatible with any 2001-up Alpine Ai-NET model receiver).

The ALP/AI-AUX is a current sensing device that automatically interrupts the signal from the Alpine changer whenever an incoming audio signal from the auxiliary source is detected. The adapter also reconnects the Alpine Ai-Net changer after 10 seconds of silence from the auxiliary source. Warranty: 90 days.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good product. Easy to operate. A little over priced. The data cable should be a little longer and have a 90 degree plug on it to allow it to be installed in dashes with limited space. I still would recommend this product.

General Overview: The ALP/AI-AUX adapter allows you to add an auxiliary RCA source (Satellite Radio receiver, Portable CD, DVD player, video game, etc.) to an Ai-NET-compatible Alpine receiver while still being able to connect a CD changer or other Ai-NET device. If no CD changer is connected, the adapter can still be used with Alpine receivers with "Versatile Link" capabilities.

Functionality: The adapter is connected in-line between the Alpine head unit and the CD changer (or other Ai-NET device), and gives you the ability to plug in an auxiliary source. When the adapter senses a signal from the auxiliary source, it automatically passes through the auxiliary signal. Ten seconds after receiving no signal from the auxiliary source, the adapter switches back to the Ai-NET device.

AUX Input Connections: The input for the auxiliary source is a set of female RCA jacks terminated a 10" stereo cable attached to the auxiliary input adapter. A stereo RCA patch cord should be connected to the AUX IN jacks and run to where the auxiliary source will be located. If the aux source has a mini-jack output, a stereo mini-jack to dual male RCA cable will be needed instead of a standard RCA patch cable.

Ai-NET Connections: Since the ALP/AI-AUX adapter is connected in line with a CD changer, the adapter has both male and female Ai-NET connectors. The male Ai-NET connector is located at the end of the 10" cable which plugs into the back of the Alpine head unit. The female Ai-NET connection is located on the adapter module and accepts the Ai-NET cable from the CD changer or other Ai-NET cable.
