Overview Details Customer Reviews Category Info Our take on the P.I.E. iPod® Cable for Kenwood by Robert Ferency-Viars Why would I need an iPodĀ® adapter? An iPod adapter allows you to connect your iPod to your car stereo, then access your playlists with your stereo's controls - a great idea for several reasons. One, you can scroll through your song titles on your stereo's larger display, instead of squinting down at your iPod. Two, you can route the adapter cable to your glove compartment or center console, so your iPod stays safely out of sight. Three, the iPod adapter keeps your iPod fully charged, so it's ready to rock when you leave your car. And last of all, some adapters bypass your iPod's internal digital-to-analog converter, using your stereo's superior DAC to turn your files back into music. The KNW/USB-AV connecting cable from Precision Interface Electronics gives you high-speed access to the music and video on your video iPod through your compatible 2007-up Kenwood DVD receiver. One end of the cable plugs into your iPod's dock connector. The other end includes a USB cable, a miniplug audio cable, and a miniplug video cable, all of which connect to your Kenwood stereo's inputs. The USB cable handles the control and charging of your iPod, so you can navigate through your music files with the Kenwood's controls and view song info on its display. The miniplug connectors transfer the music and video from your iPod to the stereo's audio and video inputs. Music and video images travel to your stereo as analog signals, so you can even play the Digital Rights-protected files stored on your iPod. Warranty: 1 year. Note: Your 2007-up Kenwood DVD receiver must have a USB input, an auxiliary input, and a miniplug video input in order to work with this cable. Additionally, this adapter does not support video playback for the following iPod models: iPhone, iPod touch, iPod classic (6th generation), iPod nano (3rd generation). Note: Be sure to check "Hands-on Research" for specific iPod model compatibility with this iPod adapter. Hands-on research from the Crutchfield Labs (what are the Labs?) Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. This cable worked as specified for my Kenwood DNX5120 and my video ipod. My 3rd gen ipod would play through the speakers, but I could not control the ipod through the Kenwood stereo. I expected some problems with that ipod because of some issues with an ipod controller on another head unit. I love the Kenwood HU and the ipod controls!! No control hesitation with the HU and cable. Worked with 2nd Gen Ipod Touch, audio and video, charges Ipod and allows for head unit control. Connected to a DNX5120, installed in a 05 Tacoma, the cable is long enough to reach the glove box, with enough slack to plug/unplug Ipod from the driver seat. 5 stars for Crutchfield service. Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. I just installed this in my 2006 Tacoma with my Kenwood DNX7100 Head Unit (that radio is sweet!). This ipod cable works great with my 4gen 20 Gig ipod. On the DNX7100 I can sort songs by artist, genre, etc. The interface is fairly quick but has some slight delay which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The delay is so slight it is almost not worth mentioning. Overall I am quite impressed. Glad I didn't have to go buy a new ipod and get the KCA-iP300V cable to get a nice interface for my ipod and the Kenwood HU. 6 out of 7 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
