Our take on the P.I.E Aux Input Adapter For Pioneer

The Precision Interface Electronics PIO/P-RCA auxiliary input adapter is designed for use with Pioneer IP Series products. The adapter serves two functions:

  • converts the output (IP-BUS OUT) connection of the Pioneer GEX-FM903XM XM-Satellite tuner into stereo RCA outputs, avoiding the use of an FM modulator, gaining superior frequency response, and allowing connection to any receiver with auxiliary inputs;
  • converts the CD changer port of a Pioneer receiver to RCA input, allowing a variety of program sources to be added to the Pioneer receiver, including satellite radio tuner, DVD player, VCR/VCP, PlayStation™, or portable MiniDisc, MP3, or CD. The direct connection (without FM modulation) results in optimum sound quality.

Important Note: When the PIO/P-RCA adapter has been connected to the Pioneer head unit, a CD changer cannot be used. 90-day warranty.

Features

Application: The P.I.E. PIO/P-RCA adapter can convert the IP-Bus input on Pioneer car receivers with external device controls to an auxiliary input. This allows you to input line-level audio signals from such items as portable CD, Minidisc or MP3 players, VCRs, satellite radio receivers, or video games. Note: If you use this adapter as an auxiliary input adapter, you cannot connect a Pioneer CD changer or other IP-Bus device at the same time. If you desire to connect a changer, in addition to the auxiliary source, you will need item 130CDRB20 instead of this adapter.

Connectors: The adapter has a right-angle IP-Bus connector on one end and gold plated left and right RCA jacks on the other.

Great Add-On For Older Radio

Written By Josh&Maria, Savannah, GA on Sunday, November 16, 2008

What a great suprise to stumble upon this as I was looking for some XM gear for my father...added this onto my Pioneer DEH-8500MP head unit with no problems. The hardest part was trying to figure out how to turn on the auxillary input. To do that, turn off the head unit and hold down the function button and a menu should come up and you can scroll through and turn on the auxillary input. Took me about 30 minutes to find this on the net as it was not in my Pioneer manuals.

Second one I've purchased

Written By MilaniR, Knoxville, TN on Tuesday, October 21, 2008

The item worked great. I installed one very similar to a pioneer deck in my truck. Both were very easy to install. Sound clarity and volume is far superior than using a radio signal. It is also nice to be able to plug almost any device into it. Would recommend this to anyone who has a compatible deck.

This item worked great and was easy to install. A must-have for anyone trying to connect a DAP or other audio source.

Just check to make sure it fits your CD deck because I almost bought the wrong one but thanks to Crutchfield, I received the right one.

P.I.E Aux Input Adapter For Pioneer

Written By 1potato, Broomall, PA on Tuesday, January 09, 2007

Excellent product! I was disappointed with the performance of my Sirius Sportster 4 until I used this adapter. The output level and sound quality is much better than the FM signal even with the direct connector. The only way to go is the IP BUS connector. Without it, you'll have to settle for subpar sound quality. One note: Turn off the FM transmitter on the Sportster for best sound.

Written By Thomas, Boston, Mass. on Sunday, March 05, 2006

What a great item for your car stereo
I tried FM broadcasters and FM modulators but the sound was not very good
This made my IPOD sound as good as my CD's
Easy to install too!

This is one of those products that either works great or doesn't work at all...it works great, and installation was a no-brainer.
