Features
Compact Design: The new 2 GB iPod shuffle is very compact and light-weight. It measures 1.625" wide, 1.075"
tall (1.425" with included headphones), and 0.425" deep and weighs only 0.55 ounces.
Built-in Clip: The 2 GB iPod
shuffle comes ready to wear with its built-in sturdy clip. You can clip it to
your pants or shirt pocket, belt or shirt sleeve.
Skip Protection: Because the
iPod shuffle uses flash memory, playback is completely skip-free.
Compatibility: This 2 GB iPod
shuffle is compatible with both Macintosh and Windows operating systems. The
unit requires free iTunes software downloaded from apple.com. See
System Requirements section below for minimum requirements.
Storage Capacity: This iPod
shuffle has a built-in 2 GB flash memory, capable of storing approximately 500
songs (4-minute song average--recorded in AAC format at 128 kbps). In addition
to storing audio, you can use the flash memory to store data files as well.
Audio Formats: The iPod 2 GB shuffle
supports the following audio formats: MP3 (8 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, AAC (8 to
320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Music Store, M4A, M4B, M4P), Audible
(formats 2, 3, and 4), WAV and AIFF. When you import music from a CD using iTunes, it
is converted to AAC format by default.
Frequency Response: The iPod shuffle's
frequency response is rated at 20Hz to 20,000Hz.
Dock: The iPod 2 GB shuffle
comes with its own dock that you use to connect the shuffle to your Mac or PC
via USB. The dock contains a docking station for the Shuffle and a Type-A USB
connector to plug into your computer.
Headphone Jack: The iPod
shuffle's headphone jack does double duty as a dock connector. The Dock uses a
3.5mm male connector to plug into the headphone jack to allow you to dock the
shuffle and connect the shuffle to your computer via the attached USB
cable on the dock.
Headphones: The iPod shuffle
comes equipped with earbud-style headphones with 18mm drivers that use Neodymium
magnets. The headphones offer a frequency response of 20Hz to 20,000Hz with an
impedance load of 32 ohms. If desired, you can use any headphones with a 3.5mm miniplug.
Playback Controls: The 2 GB
shuffle features a thumb-friendly, circular pad for playback controls. The iPod
shuffle has the following playback controls: play/pause, previous/rewind,
next/fast-forward, and volume +/-.
Shuffle Switch: The 2 GB shuffle
features a shuffle switch on the bottom of the unit to allow you to either
listen to your music in a random order or in the order you synced them from
iTunes.
Battery Status Button/Light: If
the battery status light is green when you press the battery status button, the
iPod shuffle has a good charge. If the light is amber, the iPod shuffle is low
on charge, and if it's red, very little charge is left and you should recharge
the iPod shuffle soon. If no light is visible, the battery is out of power and
you must recharge the iPod shuffle to use it.
Power Requirements: The iPod
shuffle has an internal, non-user-replaceable, rechargeable lithium polymer battery. The battery
offers up to 12 hours of playback. When the iPod shuffle is inserted in its dock
and connected to a
high-power USB port on your computer, the battery charges. The iPod shuffle
battery is 80% charged in about two hours, and fully charged in about four
hours.
Optional AC Adapter: If you are
away from your computer, you can charge on the go with an optional USB AC
adapter (sold separately) that attaches to the shuffle's dock via the USB Type-A
connector.
