Features
Power Strip:
This Profile California AP2000 amplifier features a bright red power light strip
on the top center of the unit to indicate when the amp is turned on. The 6-5/16"
power light strip consists of eight LEDs. The green LED on the power/speaker
terminal side of the amplifier will also light when power is sent to the amp.
Dual MOSFET Power Supplies: The
amplifier features dual MOSFET power supplies for a more stable output.
Bass Level Remote Control: This
amp is equipped with a wired remote control which allows you to adjust the level
of the amplifier. The remote is designed to be mounted under the dash to allow
control from the driver's seat. Dimensions: Width=1.585" (2.566" including
mounting tabs), Height=0.75", Depth=1.368" (1.758" including knob), Cable
length=16.25'.
High-to-Low Level
Converter: The amp is equipped with an external high (speaker) level to low
(line) level converter to allow you to connect the amplifier to a receiver or
factory radio without RCA preamp outputs. After splicing the receiver's speaker
wires to the converter's speaker wires, you can simply plug the converter into
the amp's RCA preamp input.
Line Outputs: The AP2000
includes a pair of RCA line outputs for sending an unfiltered signal to another
amplifier or component without splitting the signal.
Protection
Circuits: This amp has three types of
protection circuits: DC offset, short circuit and thermal protection. The red
LED on the left side of the amplifier will light to indicate that the amplifier
has gone into protection.
Built-In Crossover: This
amplifier includes a built-in variable low pass filter with a slope of
12dB/octave. The low pass filter is continuously variable from 50-250Hz. There
is a two-way switch which lets you choose between low-pass or full-range
operation.
Subsonic Filter: The AP2000
features a built-in variable subsonic filter with a slope of 12dB/octave. The
subsonic filter is continuously variable between 20-50Hz. This filter avoids the
reproduction of inaudible low frequencies which could damage subwoofers because
they can generate over-excursion of the subwoofer cone. Note: The
subsonic filter cannot be turned off; it is always active.
Inputs
and Outputs Notes
Gold-plated Terminals: The
AP2000 features gold-plated speaker and power terminals and RCA jacks for
maximum signal transfer and corrosion resistance.
Set Screw Terminals: The power
and ground connections feature set-screw terminals that can accept up to 4-gauge
bare wire. The remote turn-on and speaker output set-screw terminals can accept
up to 6-gauge bare wire. Two Allen wrenches (2.5mm and 3mm) are supplied to
tighten/loosen the set screws.
Remote Turn-on: In addition to
turning on and turning off the amplifier via the head unit's remote output, the
remote turn-on also operates the reset circuit for the amplifier's protection
system. The remote turn-on lead must be connected to the head unit in order to
reset the protection circuits.
Bass Remote: The amp has a
female RJ-11 phone jack for plugging in the Bass Level Remote Control cable.
Wiring Recommendations
Wiring Recommendations:
The AP2000 is equipped with four 25-amp fuses, so its fuse rating (100-amps
total) exceeds that of typical 4 gauge wiring kits, which tend to include a
60-amp fuse. For 100-amp fuse protection, an ANL wafer style fuse is required,
but none of the 4-gauge wiring kits include a ANL-style fuse holder. Since
pre-packaged amplifier wiring kits cannot be used alone, you may purchase all
the necessary items separately, or you may use a pre-packaged 4 gauge wiring kit
along with a ANL-style fuse holder and a 100-amp ANL wafer fuse. If you do not
use a wiring kit with the necessary additional items, the separate parts and
wiring needed to install this amplifier are as follows:
- 1 ANL wafer-style fuse holder
capable of accepting 4 gauge wire
- One 100-amp ANL wafer fuse
- 2 power rings for 4 gauge cable
- 4 gauge power cable (to connect
the battery to a fuse holder and the fuse holder to the amplifier)
- 4 gauge ground cable
- Remote turn-on cable (speaker
wire can be used as remote turn-on cable)
- 1 stereo RCA patch cables (if
needed)
- Speaker wire
Warranty
Note
Warranty:
The manual indicates a 1-year parts and labor warranty,
however
Profile has extended the warranty to three years parts and labor for units
purchased from Crutchfield.
