Great Cabinet

Written by: Steve from Charlotte, NC on July 26, 2016

The cabinet is as advertised. It feels like a solid piece of furniture and looks great. The venting on the sides and bottom have been adequate to keep mu components cool. This is by far the nicest component rack I have seen. It is great quality especially at this price point. I would highly recommend it.

Pros: High quality, looks great, great value

Cons: While most of the assembly was very easy, assembling the front door was difficult. It was also difficult to adjust the door to narrow the gap.

Stereo Cabinet from Crutchfield

Written by: MikeG from Rockwall, Tx on May 8, 2016

Cabinet arrived 3 days after order, in a perfectly packed box. Beautiful design, all wood and everything fits together perfectly. Very good craftsmanship. Took about an hour to get everything put together. The door clicked into place in about 2 minutes. Helps to have two people for the door but the rest I did by myself. The magnets that are used to keep the back panel in place in ingenious, looks fantastic. The back brace fit perfectly and all the holes aligned perfectly. Directions could be a little more descriptive . At first I thought the price may be a little high but once I unpacked the box and put it together I knew it was worth the money. This will last me for a very long time.

Pros: Great packaging, all wood, study design and goes together very well. Great look and feel.

Cons: None

Next day shipment was unexpected but welcome. This is a very nice piece of furniture, well made, easy set-up. The wood is darker than depicted and the glass door is a bit lighter. Easily handles my 40" flat screen TV on top, components in case. Looked for a unit like this for a long time. Crutchfield came through. Very pleased!

Bell'o ATC402 A/V Cabinet

Written by: Mary Ann from honolulu, HI on March 18, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This A/V cabinet meets a 5 Star Rating for quality, beauty and function. It is everything we had hoped it would be and is a good solid piece of furniture.

Pros: It was extremely well packed and traveled all the way to Honolulu without any damage. Love all the air vents in the sides, back and on each shelf. Love that you can easily remove the back panels. Love the self-closing door that doesn't slam shut.

Cons: It was quite a challenge to get the hinges attached. We spent 3 hours trying and trying. Finally, one last attempt, and we studied the hinges carefully. The hinges that are on the door itself have 2 little hooks or "feet" that slide into the hinge that is attached to the side of the cabinet. Just push those two little feet in and then, at the front of the hinge, push it towards the cabinet side until you hear a click. Fortunately, we didn't have to do any adjusting as it fits perfectly.

Very Nice Cabinet

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Cabinet arrived well packed and in very good condition, quality wood, very dark brown, assembled myself without problem but would be easier for two people, assembled cabinet is very nice looking, attaching door is a little tricky, I disconnected hinges from door - snapped hinges together - then re-mounted hinges to door, levers that snap pieces together are fairly stiff but probably need to be, after assembling the cabinet the door sits cocked down to the right and bottom corner rubs a bit when closing, I'm going to wait until unit is set where it's going to be and my audio equipment is in place before I try adjusting the door, hinges look a little tricky to adjust, called customer service trying to find out which adjusting screws are going to do what but didn't get anything for answers, the person I talked to was very nice though, hopefully I can get the door adjusted as needed and if I can I will be totally happy with my purchase.

Pros: Pieces well packed in carton. Quality material. Nice heavy wood. Fairly easy to assemble. Very nice looking when assembled.

Cons: Door hinges don't snap into place easily. No detailed instructions as to how to adjust door hinges. I didn't try adjusting yet but each hinge has like six different screws and without details as to which screw is going to do what I'll have to start experimenting.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great unit. Very happy with it. Solid.

Pros: Great color - solid wood and very sturdy. For a non-children household, no need for the safety strap. Just enough shelves to hold a phono, amp, and CD deck with room on the bottom for the phono amp. The magnetic back make monkeying around with the wires or changing components easy without having to tear it all apart. We purchased this as a component cabinet when we re-entered the vinyl world and it exceeded every expectation. Wife is now looking for an art deco piece for the massive top.

Cons: Minor stuff. Very dark inside so at night if you intend to be reaching around inside with low/no light, I suggest some kind of dome or puck light for a little illumination, especially in trying to pick up a delicate needle. The door was the hardest part of the assembly. Took longer to hang properly than the assembly of everything else. Not sure what I did right after a lot of sweat but it finally slid into place and is very secure.

Better Than Most you-assemble Cabinets

Written by: CP from Issaquah, WA on January 8, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The quality is much higher than most furniture that you assemble yourself. It looks like "real" furniture once assembled. The ventilation and cord management are outstanding. The handy "magnetic" back pieces are a really nice touch. Again, real wood and not the fakey cardboard like stuff that is the backing for many assembly required furniture pieces. Glass door is wood-framed and comes pretty much fully assembled so it's just a matter of sliding it onto the hinge mechanisms. Looks great and is a good size.

Pros: - Easy Assembly - High Quality - Thoughtful design

Cons: - Quite Heavy - May not be a con, but is, as others have stated, quite a bit darker than what it looks like in the photo. Is definitely "Espresso" toned

Wonderful product!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great product. The package arrived packed like nothing I had see before. It was very sturdy; there were marks on the outside of the box indicating that it had been handled roughly, BUT the packing inside was so secure and dense that it was not damaged. It was easy to put together; we have had it for one year and still love it. Another thing that is a good point: I cam home one night and my dog was very excited to see me. He followed me to the cabinet without his usual petting upon arrival home. When I opened the door, he tried to jump through the glass door as I held it open. The glass did not break, but the wood casing around the glass did. The good thing is that we have ordered a new door, and we don't have to buy a whole new item. Very satisfying.

Pros: Very sturdy. Easy to assemble. Packed very well. Glass didn't break when dog tried to jump through it. Door accident happened within warranty period, and not only was it available, but the new door was free except for shipping. The transactions over the new door went smoothly---even without all the documentation. They believed us!

Cons: We have a very large collection of CD's and components to put into the cabinet, and although it came larger and deeper than I expected, we do have to store some of the CD's in another cabinet. Not the cabinet's fault though.

Nice

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great cabinet. Purchased it to go with a 65 inch AV credenza by Bell'O, which came fully assembled. (Another great piece from this manufacturer). My components fit nicely in the 65 inch credenza, but I didn't like dealing with all the cords. Saw this and decided it would be a better option as the shelves are on top of each other, rather than side by side as in the credenza.

Pros: Well made and true, the pieces fit into each other with no tools required. My husband builds a lot of things and after assembling this, he remarked that the engineering that went into the design was impressive. The back panels are held securely in place by magnets, another feature that allowed him to install 4 cooling fans to the design which are completely hidden in the back panel. No more worries about components overheating.

Cons: The only "con" is, I wish Bell'O offered mix and match cabinets as this piece is much darker than the credenza. We have them sitting next to each other and the difference in colors is obvious, but not totally unworkable. We placed an end table and lamp on the opposite side from the tower, and it makes a beautiful wall unit that actually enhances the look of the room.

Excellent Product, however...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nothing wrong with the product structurally, however the devices that lock the sides to the base and top do not work easily. Only one of the devices worked as described in the instruction manual. I had to purchase a dowel and use a hammer to make the other 7 seat and work. It was frustrating and not easy. Again, once it was together and the frustration subsided I liked the product.

Pros: Good quality material

Cons: Difficult to assemble due to not well designed locking devices.

Great A/V Cabinet

Written by: Rabin from New York on September 3, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When I received this product. I was very pleased with the quality, fit and finish. It went together in less than 20 minutes and it's beautiful. I was very impressed. Even the door has soft close hinges and it looks great in my living room. I highly recommend this Bell'O A/V component stand. You won't be disappointed!

Pros: Fit and finish was perfect. It was very easy to put together and it's also very easy to disassemble if necessary. Like the box says no tools are necessary and it's true. Well boxed, everything was protected.

Cons: The shipping company used only delivers in my area on Monday's and Thursdays. Kind of sucks since Crutchfield got it here in a DAY! and I had to wait 8 days to get it delivered since Monday was Labor Day! So I picked it up myself. Struggled with the weight but, luckily my condo has a hand truck I was able to use. Had to travel 30 minutes each way to get it but, it was worth it. Just so you know it was shipped by freight carrier.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The cabinet is very pretty and simple to put together. It looks great and is perfect for what we needed it for. We are really enjoying it and get compliments on it all the time.

Pros: The easy access to the back of the components, being magnetic it's super simple and quick to get to them. The soft close door is awesome! No chance of our 7 year old slamming the door shut and breaking the glass. It looks like a piece furniture instead of just a cabinet. The quality is very nice!

Cons:

nice cabinet

Written by: J from Gaithersburg, MD on October 31, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The cabinet looks nice and is very sturdy. It is actually allot darker than the online picture so I was a little disappointed. I would recommend reading through the instructions and see how the back is supposed to go on so the back panels come off (magnets hold them on). The door is kind of hard to get to snap on to the hinges. I need to adjust it but I was afraid it would come off.

Pros: sturdy , attractive

Cons: darker than picutres

Great AV Cabinet

Written by: BillyD from NM on September 5, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I use this cabinet to house a receiver, xbox 360, and blu-ray player.

Pros: Easy as heck to put together. This is so well designed, I was very impressed during assembly. The backing is held on by magnets, so plugging in the equipment to the receiver is a piece of cake! It's very sturdy, and looks great. A nice dark brown with a good looking finish. It even comes with a brown "marker" to repair any scuffs that may occur.

Cons: The door doesn't quite fit. The top right of the door rubs up against the edge when it's opened/closed. But I rarely need to open it, so it's not a big deal for me.

Cabinet ideal for larger equipment as it is deeper than most.

Pros: Attractive finish with real wood veneer over particle board core. Easy to assemble

Cons: Provided cooling slots inadequate. I added a cooling fan to the top rear panel to remove heat.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sturdy, quality wood that fits together well and is easy to assemble. The glass door closes on its own with just a nudge. It holds my larger stereo components with room to spare and has several vent holes to ensure heat is dissipated. And, it looks great!

Pros: Pretty much everything

Cons: Back panel is held on by magnets which work great, but one panel is slightly warped which keeps it from being completely secure.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

High quality and simple to assemble. Makes a great room addition to house A/V equipment. Love the no tool assembly. The way the shelves are cut leave plenty of room to pass cables between the shelves and having the back cover held by magnets make it ease to adjust things.

Pros: Easy to assemble and looks great. High quality parts and solid construction.

Cons: Could use a ventilation system if you plan on leaving the door closed and have devices that throw off a lot of heat. I am adding Coolerguys unit to boost airflow.

Some good, some not

Written by: Jim from Baton Rouge, LA on July 22, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Cabinet looks great, is well vented and has easy access on the back. It is solidly built. But, I can not get one of the latches to work (attahches glass door to frame). So the hinge falls off. Too difficult to return after setting up. I will be breaking out my tools, drilling through the hinge and come up with my own way of attaching. Should not have to do this on a cabinet at this price and supposed quality. If I could do it again, would not buy.

Pros: Appearance, venting, access to back of components

Cons: Latch will not work

Excellent A/V Unit

Written by: animageofmine from Bothell, WA on June 29, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very High Quality, assembling is a piece of cake. Surprisingly you don't need a toolbox for assembly. Very sturdy. Had one of the hinges not aligning with its other part, so had to contact Bell'O and they sent a replacement hinge right away. Overall, very happy with the unit and super fast shipping from Crutchfield. Highly Recommended.

Pros: * Sturdy * High Quality * Easy to Assemble * Sturdy * Fits a lot of a/v equipment. I have surge protector, blu ray, receiver, blu-ray dvds, universal remote base station and still have space to fit in xbox or cable box (will have to stack one on top of other)

Cons: * no wheels, but that's only useful if you have hardwood.

First-Rate Product

Written by: MichaelC from Carlisle, PA on June 4, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is clearly a first-rate product. It is substantial, well-made, and easy to assemble. Note that the color is slightly darker than the item photo; nonetheless, it is very attractive. Assembly instructions were good, but just be sure to assemble the back frame with the small magnets used to retain the back panels in the outside. I am totally satisfied with this item.

Pros: Ease of assembly, appearance, solidity, cooling/ventilation provisions.

Cons: Color a bit off from the photos, but still attractive.

Nice Cabinet Design

Written by: Devon from San Francisco on May 19, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This cabinet has a very nice design and looks much more like a piece of furniture than a standard A/V cabinet. It visually is a little larger than I expected although I read the measurements in advance. It has quite a bit of space to hold multiple pieces of equipment. I could have used one half the size given we only have a home theater component, a Blu-ray and a Wii. With that said, it is well designed with cooling vents, magnetic back panels that are easily removed, and 3 adjustable shelves. It was very easy to assemble except for attaching the door. The hinges did not snap into place for me easily and there were no instructions for adjusting them. After fiddling with them for a while I was able to get them to snap into place but I almost scratched the cabinet as the door kept slipping out of my hands while trying to get the hinges to click into place. This is the nicest cabinet I have seen for the price.

Pros: Nice design, plenty of space, cooling vents, magnetic back panels that are easily removed, and 3 adjustable shelves. Mostly simple assembly. Good value.

Cons: It is a little large in our family room. Our nice clean TV wall now has a fairly large box sitting in the corner along the same wall.

This Bell'O unit is great... Solid wood, great espresso color (darker than pictures), and very deep. It works perfectly to hold 3 Amps, and a Power Center. Nice rear panel with cord pass-through slots. Looks great, and very functional! Highly recommend

Pros: Solid Wood, Removable back with cord slots, handsome, deep enough for larger components.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was deciding if I wanted to splurge on a Salamander unit for double the price..... I have seen those items at local stores and they looked amazing. Went with this unit instead and boy am I not disappointed. Better fit and finish from the salamander item I had been drooling over, as well as a better design. Magnetic backing plates for hiding wires, awesome ventilation, beautiful finish, I could go on. If you are considering this item, do not hesitate. It is worth every penny and more besides. The only thing that annoyed me was attaching the glass door. Doing it the way the instructions say is pretty hard. I just grabbed a screw driver and removed the hinges from the unit, and attached them to the hinges on the door, then screwed the whole thing back on. Its beautiful and extremely functional. Would buy again in a heart beat.

Pros: Fantastic value for your dollar, easy assembly (just the one issue, read above). REAL wood, heavy duty without being to heavy, works like a charm.

Cons: Nothing.

A Pleasant Surprise

I was skeptical about a piece of you-build-it furniture, but this is the exception. The components are real wood and are nicely finished. The product is precisely engineered for ease of assembly. The pieces twist-lock together and create a sturdy cabinet. Looks great, does what it was designed to do, and Crutchfield's standard delivery had it to me within 4 days. Good purchase.

Pros: Well designed and engineered.

Pros: Impressive packaging - not just the carton but the strategic use of cushioning materials - no damage no scratches - really nice job on the packaging

Cons: Non -

An exceptional product

Written by: Dick C from NYC on January 10, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a fine piece of cabinetry for a modest price. The design is simple, elegant, and functional...the method of attaching the rear panels, for example, is ingenious. Packaging was super-secure. Instructions were easy to follow, and assembly was a breeze...until it came to attaching the door. Even with two people on the job, it was almost possible to align the two halves of the hinges so they would snap together as described...a minor flaw in an otherwise perfect piece.

Well Made Product for the Money

Written by: PSM1966 from Queens, NY on December 29, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for an A/V cabinet to keep my 2 year old from getting to the components. Most that I have seen were poorly made and none had any locks. I came across the Bell'O ATC402 and thought it really look nice and from the description, was made really well. The Bell'O ATC402 was exactly as described. Very well made and fortunately for me, it matched the furniture in my den. The access panels attach to the rear of the cabinet via magnets and a lip. There are also plenty of areas that are vented for circulation. Very happy with the product and very satisfied with Crutchfield. With a little ingenuity I was able to keep my 2 year old from gaining access to the components.

Pros: Well made (solidy/heavy). Easy rear access. Not constructed out of particle board. Loved the color (personal preference). Adjustable shelving.

Cons: Wish it had a lock but I haven't found any non commercial one with any.

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

I wanted a product to hold my components and this product had the features I was looking for. [ frederic  Apr 18, 2016 ]
Need a component cabinet that was a step above the norm. Cosmetically appealing, function. Heavy and Plenty of space for my equipment. Saving up for a matching Pair. [ MADD - 1  Apr 02, 2016 ]

5 questions already asked

I don't know. I suppose if some one is skilled enough they could. [ PETER  Feb 23, 2016 ]
Not that I am aware of. It is a fairly heavy cabinet. It is very heavy once loaded with equipment. I would think it would need to be designed for this. But if you have carpentry skills to build additional supports, I imagine it could be done. [ JAMES  Feb 22, 2016 ]
This is not an easy answer. You need to calculate weight & distribution. In addition you would have to reinforce the base with another sheet of wood to distribute the weight. In my cabinet I have over 400 lbs in it & I would not recommend adding castors to anyone unless you have a strong technical background. [ Thomas  Feb 22, 2016 ]
I believe so. I have that color and looks beautiful. You can check with crutchfield if they have more colors via chat option. [ ANKIT  Jul 19, 2015 ]
Very light tint. You can see the components inside (eg: Receiver information, LEDs from consoles, power light indicators, etc.) [ BRETT A  Jul 23, 2014 ]
It is a medium tint. You can see the components somewhat, but not blatantly. I have several different brands, styles and sizes of equipment and they do not stand out. [ DEVON  Jul 23, 2014 ]
You can see silver or white faced components fairly well but black faced components almost disappear.. All lights or light colored printing show through so you can very well see if something is turned on or off with lights.. Overall it's a mild tint, not too strong but just enough to look really good actually.. Clear glass would look awful so this smoked tint calms it all down and looks really good.. It's a very good cabinet..Very happy with the purchase and Crutchfield had the best price I found for this unit.. [ JAMES  Jul 23, 2014 ]
If you can picture the color of mahogany slightly lighter. I really like the cabinet., well made works nicely in our living room where we have a combination of walnut, cherry, and red oak hardwood floors. [ PATRICIA A  Jul 23, 2014 ]
Yes, you can see the components. [ Daniel  Jul 23, 2014 ]
yes, I have a Denon receiver, a Verizon cable box and a PS3 and all are visible [ JAY  Jul 23, 2014 ]
Yes you can see the components but the glass is tinted maybe a little darker than usual. [ DAVID  Jul 23, 2014 ]
It is pretty dark especially if you have to use it in a media room. [ SAJIN  Jul 23, 2014 ]
Yes you can. Based on some of the pics, I had expected darker. I really can't tell that the glass is "tinted" so much....but that's somewhat dependent on the lighting of the room (LR is quite dark) [ WALTER G  Jul 23, 2014 ]
The components are visible through the glass but the view is subtle when off and a bit more intense when the indicator lights are on. [ CHARLES  Jul 23, 2014 ]
Yes, you can see the components. It has a medium tint. [ ANDREW  Jul 23, 2014 ]
yes, you can see them. It's a light tint, obscures them a bit but not a lot. In the pic you can see the white wall through the doors. [ JANET  Jul 23, 2014 ]
It is only lightly tinted so you can see the components. It is a very nice piece and just the right hieght for a turntable on the top. I highly recommend this over orhers i have looked at. Take care, Dennis [ DENNIS L  Jul 23, 2014 ]
When the component is turned on you can see it clearly. If it is off you can barely see what's inside. [ BRIAN  Jul 23, 2014 ]
glass is dark but you can still see the components. I am very happy with looks of the stand. [ JAMES I  Jul 23, 2014 ]
The glass has a medium to light tint so you can definitely see the components but they aren't overwhelming. [ Adam  Jul 23, 2014 ]
Only slight tint. My multimedia components are black and can see them just fine through the glass. Indicator lights are fine to see as well. [ JEFF  Jul 23, 2014 ]
Darker than the pictures make it seem. I was pleasantly surprised at the tint. You can see component silhouettes but everything is sufficiently darkened for my taste. [ TAYLOR  Jul 23, 2014 ]
im putting a jvc 1010 integrated amp thanks for help david [ benny  Jun 05, 2014 ]
thank you janet [ benny  Jun 05, 2014 ]
yes, but depending on the size of your amp, you may lose a shelf. This is very well made and pretty easy to assemble. [ JANET  Jun 05, 2014 ]
The very bottom of the cabient is fix, all of the shelves are adjustable. I'm placing my power amp on the bottom as well. Btw the shelves also have vents in them. It's a nice piece I am very pleased with it so far. [ DAVID  Jun 05, 2014 ]
No [ RICK  May 30, 2014 ]
Right out of the box it is not, it is set to have hinges on the left as you face it with little preattached blocks for hinges to screw to.. If you are handy, you could probably pop those blocks off or install new blocks on the right side to make it work, the door itself appears that you could flip it around with no issues but it's just where the hinges screw or attach that would affect the reverse.. hope that helps.. [ JAMES  May 27, 2014 ]
No, it doesn't appear to be reversible. [ DEBORAH  May 27, 2014 ]
No, it only hinges on the left side. [ MICHAEL G  May 27, 2014 ]
I don't think so since the hinges come already installed. The only way you can do it by taking the hinges off from the left and then reversing everything. [ SAJIN  May 27, 2014 ]
No [ DOUGLAS  May 26, 2014 ]
No. Hinge is on the left. Handle on the right. The hinges are pre-attached, so I didn't try detaching them. [ JAY  May 26, 2014 ]
no [ DAVID  May 25, 2014 ]
From what I can tell it you are not able to reverse it. [ BRIAN  May 24, 2014 ]
No i dont think you can reverse the door but it is a awesome cabinet [ DENNIS L  May 24, 2014 ]
It is not. =( But it is a very nice piece. Soft-close door. I love it so far. Just don't drop the heavy base on your new hardwood floors like I did! [ BRETT A  May 24, 2014 ]
