Simply serious sound

Alpine built the CDA-105 as a no-nonsense music machine that will serve as your control center for even the most sophisticated audio system.

Alpine CDA-105

Play your favorite CDs, or load up a disc with your favorite MP3, WMA, and AAC files. Pack a USB flash drive to the brim for even more options. Whatever your source, Alpine's digital-to-audio converter and impressive internal amplifier will do justice to your favorite driving music.

Adding on to your system

You'll get full control of your iPod® — even your iPhone® — through the CDA-105's USB slot. No adapter is necessary, but Alpine includes an iPod cable so you can leave your other cable at home. The CDA-105 offers three sets of preamp outputs for connecting amps and subs. You can add Alpine's Bluetooth® adapter for safer hands-free calling and audio streaming, or tap into satellite radio's wealth of entertainment with an optional tuner.

For especially big music libraries, Alpine's Percentage Search function uses the preset buttons for quick jumps to specific parts of the list (Preset 1: 0% to 16%, Preset 2: 17% to 32%, Preset 3: 33% to 49%, Preset 4: 50% to 66%, Preset 5: 67% to 82%, Preset 6: 83% to 100% of the song library). Since you can just jump to a segment of your library with a touch of a button, you'll save yourself from scrolling through each song one by one.

Add an HD Radio™ tuner for improved AM/FM sound quality — FM sounds almost like a CD, while AM sounds like traditional FM. And while your iPod's connected, you can even tag songs you hear on HD Radio stations for downloading later in iTunes®. You'll be reminded of the songs you tagged the next time you sync your iPod with your computer.

Fine-tune your sound with IMPRINT

If you're into sound quality, Alpine's optional IMPRINT™ sound processor and KTX-100 tuning kit can transform your car into the perfect listening space. It uses a microphone to analyze the acoustics in your vehicle, then works with the CDA-105's MultEQ feature to adjust the receiver's output for the best possible audio performance. IMPRINT

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check Hands-on Research for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles, you can use this adapter to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Alpine stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Alpine, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls.

Note: Sorry, Crutchfield cannot ship Alpine products to Guam or Puerto Rico.

It's a great dash: looks good and sounds good, and the ability to control illumination color is a plus. The headunit has pretty much all the features you could want. The only downside is that there is only 1 line of display.

    Overall great, one flaw

ChrisH from Phoenix, AZ on 10/4/2011

I've used this HU for about 6 months. Overall, It's one of the best HU's I have had. Controls are easy, the options are nice, display is big and has large text, and has an iPod hookup (which I use with my iPhone 4;works great). There is only one major issue I had with it. It's not easy to read in direct sunlight. There is an option to turn up the contrast, which helps, but not quite enough. Usually I can read it unless i shade over it with my hand to block the sun. At night, no problems at all. Anyways, can't complain too much because it's a great price, and I have adapters to hook up AUX and USB so it's very flexible.

The stereo sounds great. Its somewhat unintuitive when it comes to using the bluetooth features, but once its set up the A2DP streaming works quite well. Handsfree may be another story and people have complained about being able to hear me. I can't say its the best system for bluetooth. I primarily bought this stereo to try to go CD-less. I was very excited about throwing a huge flash usb drive in my center console, hidden from view, throwing 16GB of music on it accessible through the head unit. Think again. This unit only supports a total of 100 folders (including subfolders!). What the heck? Are you kidding me? What kind of asinine limitation is that? Worse, it sorts your music BY MOST RECENTLY COPIED TO THE DRIVE. What? Not alphabetical? Not by artist? By when I copied it to the drive? I'm so disappointed in this purchase. They may have a high quality amp, but that's about all Alpine got right in this system. They really better learn how to organize and navigate a large digital music library or they can kiss their company goodbye.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this head unit to integrate with the Alpine KPT-445 and wanted iPod control. Good items: 1.The iPod USB and AUX-IN connections are in the back of the unit allowing the iPod to be stowed in the glove box and the AUX-IN cable to be stowed when not in use. 2.The folder structure is easy to navigate with minimal self training. 3.Plug-and-play with the KPT-445 4.iPod cable included Items it lacks are: 1.3rd Band for the EQ (no midrange adjustment), have to spend extra $ for IMPRINT 2.iPod/iPhone access to audio controls while plugged-in (as most Apple approved products also don't allow) 3.Pandora control is not accessible when an iPhone is plugged into Apple plug (would have had to get different HU for this feature) Pandora does work if plugged in with the AUX-IN. That said, my iPhone is usually available to plug into the 1/8" AUX-IN, and the iPod stays connected in the glove box, and both can be selected independently as a source. 4.AUX-IN cable sold separately 5.Changing the color of the buttons does not change the color theme for the whole head unit. Overall it is a great head unit for a closeout price. Get one while they are still available!

I've only had the receiver in for a couple of days and I'm real happy with it. I've never replaced a car stereo by myself before and decided to give it a go. It was actually quite easy. The free mounting equipment and wire harness worked perfect. I only wish the receiver had a USB port in the front instead of having a wire hanging out from under the dash. I'll just find a way to mount a USB recepticle into the dash. Other than that it works well and sounds great and I highly recommend this product.

I have been wanting to upgrade my stock stereo system in my 90 Mustang for a while. Installed this head unit with the KTP455 power pack and WOW! What a difference. Crisp and Clear with much more detail than the stock unit. This really woke up the stock speakers. Can't wait till my polk speakers arrive! The alpine is easy to navigate with the ipod. I have used several different head units and would say this tops the list. Clarion is a close second.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

just installed this stereo today in my 98 Nissan Maxima. the instructions from Crutchfield for some parts of the install were a little vague and generic, which led to some issues with the fit of the stereo and tray compartment underneath, but it wasn't too hard to work out. as far as the stereo itself, the display looks great, the controls are easy to use with my iPod, and it sounded 10 times better even with my stock speakers still in. once i put kicker ds65 speakers in both the front and rear it sounded incredible. i would definitely recommend this stereo for anyone wanting to use their iPod in the car... although note that if you didn't realize it, the usb cable doesn't connect to the front of the receiver, so you have to drill a hole in the tray underneath if you don't want to run it to the glovebox....wasn't a big deal, though. overall, the stereo is great and gets 5 stars but the installation instruction from Crutchfield wasn't all it could have been

I installed this radio to replace the aging OEM Alpine Radio in out BMW. It sounds great. The car has the 10 speaker setup and some of the speakers seemed to have never emited any sound. Now they came to life. Very pleased with the upgrade. Also the blue buttons turn red when the radio is on if you activate the setting. Ipod interface works great. I love the fact that it has the rear usb port and alpine supplies a black ipod cable.

After installing the CDA-105 in my truck I am sorry to say that I am disappointed with this unit in my Son's 2002 Honda Civic LE. The display is very hard to read even with the contrast turned all the way up. Also there is no mid control, only treble and bass. Coupled with the fact that the iPod contol is used by this poor display, I sent it back for another CDE-122 in order to be happy.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this stereo as a replacement for the factory unit in our 2000 Windstar SEL van for my wife's birthday. Before giving it to her, I gave her the caveat that if she didn't like it, I would gladly take it. So I used the included wiring harness and mounting hardware (Thanks so much, Crutchfield!!!) and the install was a snap. I then added in an 8GB flash drive loaded with my wife's audio library. She was SPEECHLESS!!! Absolutely loved it! I repeated the caveat above after a few days and the response was basically 'not on your life!' Seriously, though, the unit drives the highs stronger than we were used to. No problem. Going to add a sub in the future. TERRIFIC UNIT!

    Average unit, if that

mickeyjoe from Raleigh, NC on 8/8/2011

This Alpine unit at best is average. The mids and high-end are good and clear at most all volumes. If you don't have a subwoofer installed (I don't), you'll get exactly zero bass. I have 4 Kenwood 6.5's and 2 4" tweeters, fyi. If you set the 6 buttons to the red display, in daylight the red washes out and you get some blue around the buttons. The iPod control "feature" is very cumbersome to use. In fact, it is a significant nuisance when in traffic as you have to navigate through many menus and be careful with the dial. I find it marginally better to use when stopped; when driving, it requires far too much eyes- and hands-on which obviously prevents you from concentrating on actually driving. Compensating for compressed audio on USB drives is near impossible, I could not find any combination of settings to make usb audio listenable. There are much better units in terms of sound and features/functions. After +1 yr of use, I'm getting something different and this one's going up for sale.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My Alpine 500CDA105 works great! It does the job and with the space limitation given in my Nissan it sounds pretty decent. I don't listen to my music loud, but I like good clean sound and this system did the job. The system has provisions to be up graded with external amps and other hardware so if I got the itch to be a nuisance driving down the street at 2:00am with my music blasting it has the capablity to do so. It's funny reading so of the other reviews in which some say they had issues with the display being too dim where they can't see it during the daytime. I think they forget to read the owners manual that said it has dimmer control.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed this radio on a saturday afternoon, everything was simple to setup in a saturn. Later that night, I took the car out for a 4 hour road trip, blew my tweeter's crossovers. The radio still sounded good, with the sound system and everything. The only downfall is the radio isn't good during the day, it's visability is weak, maybe Alpine made this radio for people who have tinted windows. The tuner on this thing is very audable and strong, no static or cracking like my previous radio. This HU is well worth the money, it's almost the same as it's newer cousin, the CDA-117 or the 9887, the only difference there is the burrbrown decoder inside the radio and media expander integration. If you want a radio for your primary or secondary car, or a vehicle you're going to sell, put this in, along with a good set of infinity or polk speakers, mid's I'd recommend at the most, with a good set of tweeters. If you're looking for great sound at high or low volume, go with this one. This will whip your previous headunit out of the water. ALSO those with visability problems, you can fix this by turning up the contrast. For the additional EQ settings, hit the imprint button, you can change the frequency of the bass and treble settings.

this was recommended by a crutchfield advisor. after viewing a youtube video and doing research i saw this was the best thing for what i wanted. i was looking for something to be able to easily play my ipod. this does a good job. easy to connect ipod. sound is clear and good. my only complaint is it takes getting used to to learn how to pick a particular song. ipod cannot be controlled on it's own. controls go through the stereo. but you gotta know exactly what to do and how to do it. trying to switch artists while driving is close to impossible. if i had to do all over again, i'd get this particular stereo but at least i would know that choosing and artist or song or whatever is not initially as easy as it looks. other than that, it does what i need it to do.

Amazing head unit for the money. I had recently purchased some Alpine SPS-600's to replace all my factory door speakers and had used them along with the factory radio and they sounded good. As soon as i hooked the CDA-105 up I noticed a whole world of difference. The plethora of options for tweaking your sound to exactly your preference is great aswell (the one touch control for sub volume adjustment is great). Overall, if you've got the money, don't even hesitate to choose this head unit, you won't be disapointed.

Awesome unit. Makes browsing through your iPod a breeze...very similar (if not identical) to how you would use your iPod. Being able to adjust your subwoofer with the touch of one button is nice. Killer sound quality, a HUGE improvement over my 15 year old stock radio (of course). Paired with fresh Polk speakers and a Kicker 12" sub, my Jeep is now buzzing :) Just installed this a few days ago so I still have quite a bit of experimenting to do with this unit...but so far, all is fine and dandy. It has the legendary Alpine sound quality. The iPod search could be better but it works fine. Its easy to search by artist but it you want to go back to where you last searched it doesnt always remember where you left off. Thats it. I cant think of anything else to nitpick. Very quick and easy install once i soldered and electrical taped the wiring harness. Very simple to use n set up.Great features. Made my stock speakers sound like almost aftermarket speakers! The alpine picks up more stations than my stock radio ever tried to pick up. A Great buy with all the accessories included. The USB slot is in the back, but they provide an 8 inch ipod adapter and a USB extension cable at 6.5 foot, which i routed through my glovebox with no having to drill or cut any holes. Also says it is a modified fit and to cut the rear stock bracket out from behind the stock rear molding of the interior dash(behind where the stock radio rested up against in the inside of the dash. Looks great with all the blue led interior n underdash lights i have. This was NOT needed just put the wiring and antenna adapter behind it and slide the radio in at a slight upwards angle and then straighten it level when securing it! The clarity of the music is great, and even the sub seems to hitting with more accuracy. One touch on the control knob brings you to the sub volume control, turn the dial and thats it. I like how all inputs are in the rear, allowing me to run cables to convenient places in my car for USB and my MP3 player (bought the extra AUX cable). My only issue is the display is illegible (on any contrast level) in the daylight with the installation angle in my 2005 civic.

I cannot believe how good this makes my factory speakers sound! I only issue I had was the USB connection is on the back of the unit, which I was not expecting. Was able to run the cord down and drill out hole to storage box on my 2001 Corolla. Installation instructions were well written. Make sure you have some crimp connectors on hand, it does not come with them.

This is the 3rd Alpine I've owned and they always seem to get better. This time I have an iPod Touch to use with the stereo. I'm really happy with the ability to run the Touch with the stereo. The sound quality is really good and the built-in amp is fine for my needs. I hooked this up to Polk DXi650S and together the whole system really fills my ancient Camry. All told I am really satisfied with this Alpine stereo.

Make sure you read the full description. I did and I am completely satisfied. I bought this headunit for future install of the IMPRINT. This headunit only has bass and treble controls. Again, read the full description. Sound quality after the install is superb. Even with the limited capabilities of this unit without the IMPRINT. I cannot wait to get the IMPRINT installed. So if you are looking for an inexpensive headunit with superb SQ right out of the box, then you are on the right track. I know I am extremely happy with my purchase.

Overall an improvement over the factory model, simply due to the added conveniences. The #1 best feature is the Ipod compatibility. The rear usb hookup allowed me to route the included automotive grade cable to a spot exactly where my wife wanted it in her vehicle. The ability to control the ipod library through the receiver itself is great! Basically, these are the reasons I purchased this particular receiver in addition to the Alpine name. A couple features we're still trying to figure out & the included Alpine user manual does not explain many of the features. The only real negative. Overall a good stereo.

I took out my older Alpine and installed the CDA-105 and I am extremely happy with the sound and the controls. I like the ability to control Sub, Front and Rear throughout all of the sources. My older Alpine did not have sub control on the tuner. I am also glad that Alpine has kept their connectors to the deck the same, so it was simple as plugging in my existing wiring harness and the RCA's and I had sound within minutes. I also like the dimming feature of all the lights. The deck controls my Sony Walkman through the USB cable that was provided at no additional cost. I am extremely happy with the overall purchase.

okay so i bought this to replace an older Kenwood head unit that i used to have in my 99 chevy blazer and its great. i bought it for 180 which was well worth it, its even cheaper now so its a steal! This stereo doesn't come with too many features but it gets the job done right. it has a high pass filter to help keep lower frequencies from reaching your speakers, which helps keep distortion down. navigating through your ipod on this is very simple and easy. you can't control the ipod itself so you have to actually use the head unit to navigate through your ipod songs. as for sound quality this thing has very good sound quality. I have it powering 4 alpine type r speakers and they can get decently loud before it starts to distort. You should probably get a 4 channel amp if your the type of person that likes to blast you music because it does tend to distort at higher levels. I also have a 15 inch type r sub woofer which sounds great. The display is good, its not the fanciest but its nice and clear. overall this is a awesome straight forward head unit for a great deal right now. and once again i always order my car stereos from Crutchfied cause of there awesome costumer service and helpful instructions.

I upgraded from my factory stereo in my 2005 Chevy Malibu to this Alpine stereo and it sounds incredible. The bass is so much tighter and it makes all my music sound so much better. Even with my factory 6 speaker system it sounds much better due to the more power that it puts out, it gets loud. The ipod connection is great but the only thing i wish it had was the ability to control it straight from the ipod. I will probably buy the aux input adapter. The search is pretty solid for the price you pay. The ipod dac bypass makes your ipod sound better than a cd. This is my first stereo upgrade and i am happy with it. Overall if you are upgrading from a factory radio you wont be dissapointed. Crutchfield makes it super easy to install as well.

All my connections are in the back of the radio so no wires running all over so it looks very neat. also in the future I plan to put this in my next vehicle and puchase the XM adapter. Crutchfield I must say rocks, thier customer service was very helpful when I accidentally ordered the wrong wiring harness they apoligized in many emails even though it was my fault and they got the correct one out to me ASAP. I priced this at other stores it was $200 plus the harness plus the installation kit so it might if cost me over $300 by the time Iwas done..You cant beat FREE wiringharness FREE Installation kit and FREE next day shipping..The only con is now I have to get new speakers becuase my stock ones suck.

alright. my bad. i did some more research and it turns out there is a parametric EQ but i'm not super stoked on it. it does sound a lot better now after making some adjustments, although it's not very intuitive. once you are in the right menu, you push the "band" button and you can make a few adjustments. i'll take back my super negative comments in the previous review just because i honestly wouldn't feel good steering anyone away from this deck. for the price it's pretty good. also, i don't want to bash crutchfield in any way. they are really helpful and knowledgeable, and made it really easy for me to order what i needed. the ipod functionality still bugs me though. maybe i'm missing something there too. sorry for posting before doing my homework. it's still a million times better than the oem hu.

i dunno, man, but last time i bought a basic deck it had the ability to EQ properly without having to purchase a separate component. what a joke. look into this fabulous new technology they call "imprint" before buying this head unit. Imprint allows you the insanely futuristic capability of using a parametric EQ so you can actually adjust all the frequencies that you care about adjusting. you only have the option to adjust bass and treble with this deck unless you buy the imprint unit which will magically grant you a 5 or 7 band EQ. furthermore, i have a powered sub. you'd think the subwoofer control would allow you to adjust the sub's level independently, right? wrong. yes, you can do that, but the "bass" control continues to control the bass level to the sub. that's lame. ok, now that i got that gripe out, let's discuss ipod functionality.not to sound arrogant but i have a massive music library. it's not easy to navigate with this deck. say you're listening Radiohead >Kid A and you want to skip to Amnesiac. well, you have to start all over by searching artist>album>song and it starts at "A". super efficient, wouldn't you say?

THis HU works very well. I like the dedicated buttons, so no drilling though multiple menus to get what you need. Sound quality is great. The only thing I'd suggest for Alpine is to allow me to control the speed of scrolling on the screen (for long song titles). It's too slow, and I need to look at the HU too long and may not be safe. Otherwise, it's a very nice unit, no real complaints.

I gave this unit 4 stars because it is not perfect. I don't however, believe there to be a better head unit on the market for the money. Installed in a 2003 Silverado. This unit has lots of features and lots of room for expansion. The tuner section is excellent. Very strong signal from stations that were weak on my stock unit. The Ipod/iphone interface works GREAT. Very fast. The cable is included, so don't order one with it. The built in amplifier is pretty powerful. Very clean for HU power. There are a few weaknesses. First, the illumination colors don't do anything for me. I'm not sure what car uses red and blue on the dash, but it's a bit too disco for me. If the hu is not going to match my dash, I prefer old school ////Alpine GREEN. The pre-outs are only 2 volts. Not a deal breaker either, but would have been nice to have had 4v. I purchased a remote for the unit and the response to the remote is very weak, delayed and annoying as heck. It was very nice of Crutchfield to include the instructions, dash kit, antenna adapter, and give me a deal on the wiring harness for the Chevy chimes. The dash kit does not fit flush against the trim bezel. The chime speaker is extremely loud. Turn it down before you install it. I hope this helps some of you that are on the fence. I am a perfectionist and have had many radios over the past 20+ years. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. I would buy it again - from Crutchfield.

I have been using my factory Delco radio for years and while it was never great, it worked and I have a hard time spending money on something I do not think I need. It helped that I had the cassette deck and used an adapter to listen to my MP3 player through the stereo. Well the tape deck finally died and I tried to get by for a couple weeks but found I really was addicted to my MP3 player. A friend at work recommended his Alpine radio and I heard other good things about them and since the price was great I bought this one. I could not believe all the free pieces that Crutchfield sent which I was already preparing to have to buy. I did not see the note to cross the blue and ble/white wires but a quick call to Crutchfield support got that straight. The radio is fantastic. Never have I had a car stereo that was so clear! I have had Pioneer and Sony radios in the past but none of them were ever this clear. Granted I have good Alpine and Sony speakers this radio sounds wonderful. Even better it reads from my Sony Walkman 8GB mp3 player and now I have it all hidden so no adapter wires laying around the Yukon! Other than rap, I listen to a wide variety of music from Five Finger Death Punch to Evanescense to Hank Williams Jr and all of them sound great! Still very loud and very clear. This might be the best thing I have bought in 10 years....I really wish I had bought an Alpine for my truck years ago.

All in all a good deck, but it is definitely slanted toward the iPod-user rather than someone who just wants to slap a big thumbdrive full of music in the USB port and go. No support for M3U playlists, and there seems to be a 100-item limit to folder structures and files. So, if you have a large drive and lots of music, there needs to be less than 100 root folders, and no more than 100 tracks in each of those folders, or it won't be able to play all of your music. Really silly considering the technology available.

Just installed this in my daughter's 2003 Jeep Wrangler TJ. Had the OEM radio. 200% improvement. As always, very satisfied with Crutchfield and Alpine. Install was a breeze with the included "freebies" (dash mount, wiring harness, etc...) from Crutchfield. Also, replaced the factory speakers (4x6 in dash and 5 1/4" in roll bar with two pairs of the Polk Audio DB521 (used adapters for the dash, direct fit for the sound bar). I realize that the stock radio and speakers were eight (8) years old, but the difference is incredible. My daughter can now here music clearly with the soft top flapping, or with the entire top down. Again, thanks Crutchfield. Spent less that $300 for a new head unit and two pairs of speakers. About 3 hours of time spent. Money will spent.

I have been a loyal customer of Alpine for Years and this HU is great!! The problem with many places, especially the New England, is that there are no good radio stations. I have since installed SiRius in both my cars and the Alpine worked well for a short period of time. Then I could not get my sirius to work at ALL!! Called Alpine and they instructed me to send in the Alpine specific sirius adapter into them for firm ware updates and said my unit was useless unless i did so!! I mean come on!! You should be able install a product and not have maintenance on it a year later!!!!!! Alpine has really hit bottom with their products in my opinion!!! If your looking for a head unit that you can just use and not have to send part of it in later for updates i would not get any Alpine HU!!! Very Dissapointed

This thing woke up the JL speakers I had bought, it pumps out some volume and keeps great clarity. At first when I hooked it up I had no sound but I called the tech support # and he was quick to tell me "you must have a factory amp, you just have to connect the blue and white wire from the Alpine to the pink on the truck harness" Bingo, he was right on. Aahh, finally a HU that's worth the money. It even has a clock! I'm so impressed. Originally bought to replace the OEM in my '95 chevy PU, and to control Polk DXi speakers. I'm getting addicted to adding all the cool pass through add ons. Good thing there's plenty of room in my old truck. This is now turning from "just an improvement project" to "lets see how much stuff I can cram into this old beater." I can understand the frustration with the iPod crowd...but until you sheople demand Apple designs an ISO industry standard, you're going to have to deal with built-in obsolescence. I found a solution: Buy android phone, copy library to usb, jam ubs into end of wire on HU. Pretty easy. So don't blame Alpine or Crutchfield for your poor decision to follow the wave of pop-consumerism. Oh, and the Parrot BT gizmo I popped in there? I can talk on the phone with the windows open around town. This truck is so old, drafty, and noisy, my headset BT can't handle it on the highway, but the Parrot does. Buy one. Cons? Glad you axed. Maybe a tad dim in direct sunlight, but I fixed that with a window tint. Maybe the dim doesn't dim enough when its super dark out, but that can be fixed by removing said tint. And, it doesn't have a smooth sexy voice to calm me down during rush hour. But now I'm just getting picky.

The Alpine CDA-105 probably deserves more than the 3 stars I'm giving it. There are problems with this unit, at least the one that I purchased. It replaced a Pioneer car stereo that no longer worked. Problem number one is that each brand ( Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc. ) of car stereo requires an XM tuner made specifically for that brand. I had to purchase an XM tuner made specifically for the Alpine CDA-105. Even after the installer had installed the unit and the XM signal was activated, I could not set the band selector to receive the XM signal. The unit seemed to be locked on FM 1. I finally had the installer disconnect the XM tuner and now I just have a nice car stereo, but I do miss XM radio. During daylight hours the faceplate display is virtually unreadable. At night you need a flashlight to see where the buttons are at. Once you find the power button, the unit has a nice red and blue display. On the plus side, the unit is powerful and the sound is crisp & clear. For this reason I'll give it three stars.

I got this unit a few weeks ago for a 2011 Forester primarily for iPod integration and I am 100% satisfied. Navigating the menus is very intuitive process and it tears through the artist lists as fast as you could on your iPod (no annoying delay like with iPod adapters for your stock stereo). The display is nothing earth-shattering, but it gets the job done. As for all of the complaints regarding glare on the screen, my vehicle does not have tinted windows/lets in a lot of sunlight and with the contrast brightness turned up, I have not had any issues reading the screen. I was torn between this unit and the CDA-117, but I'm very happy that I saved nearly 200 bucks by going with the CDA-105.

I have to say that for the price and for the features, this is a very good HU. In fact I would say Excellent. Can't go wrong with choosing this one. I certainly do like this one very much. It's got the straight forward no nonsense user interface for listening to music. The display is basic but informative. I really don't care for all that nice little graphics and album art , song writer, year etc. If that is something you like , it would probably best to get the Alpine iDA-X305S or CDA-117. CD playback is excellent. IPOD (iphone 4) Sounds good! I have all my music in Apple lossless codec on my Ipod and you can really appreciate the sound difference as opposed to a lower bit mp3 files (say 128-192 kbps). So when hooked up to the USB , the sound is muchhhhh BETTER than when using the Aux input , even though I got the Alpine KCA-121B for this unit as well. I have the HU installed on my 04 Mazda 3 and paired up with 4 JL TR525-Cxi which sound superb! I do recommend this unit very much!

Works GREAT, Especially With the PXA-H100 Sound Processor

David from Clearwater, FL on 12/17/2010

By itself, this is a very good receiver. When coupled with the Alpine PXA-H100 sound processor, this receiver is AMAZING. The PXA-H100 adds Audessey's MultEQ technology, which turns any reasonably high quality speakers into PERFECT speakers by compensating for all frequency and timing deficiencies as found in your specific vehicle (uses a microphone during setup). No car stereo without MultEQ can sound as good as one with MultEQ. You have to hear it yourself to believe the difference. (And no, I am not in any way associated with either Alpine or Audessey.) One last thing: Don't buy the iPod cable because one now comes in the box.

While there are other head units with more built-in features, this Alpine is still one of the best sounding ones out-of-the-box. It was loads better than the stock stereo in my 2010 Lancer. It sounds great even though I'm still using the base stock speaker system. The Ipod connectivity is great too. I can scroll through artists, songs, playlists, and albums; all while using Alpine's awesome browsing set up. (The 6 buttons along the bottom of the head unit allow you to instantly scroll in 1/6 increments of a selected menu of your Ipod.) The interface uses an enter button (ENT), escape button (ESC), and the scroll wheel to operate the unit. The scroll wheel browses through selections while the ENT button selects them. The ESC button returns to the previous menu. In this way, this head unit navigates easily and logically. What's more, it looks great and the buttons feel solid and never cheap. I also like that you can switch between all red buttons or with the main buttons turned bright blue. My only gripe is that the HD radio option is an expensive one to add to this unit. Competing models have the HD radio option standard.

It had been awhile since my last aftermarket deck, a Pioneer my wife bought me back in 1992. I kept it until 1998 but the CD started to skip and you could only read the display if you had it on green. Since then I just ran with whatever stock radio came with the next cars. I just bought a 2010 Mazda 3 and decided I was going to upgrade the sound system in this car, a 4 speaker non-Bose. I installed this deck, Alpine Type-R's, a JBL GTO1004 amp, and a Comp 10 Kicker. Amazing, what a difference. It didn't take long to figure out how to navigate through the menus, very intuitive. The deck looks great and the subwoofer outputs is really nice because I can directly control the volume of the Kicker. I added the extra cable that plugs into the AI-net giving me an AUX input and I just plugged my Sirius tuner into it. The USB is FANTASTIC and I put all my music on a thumb drive and it allows me to search through folders and files. I would recommend this receiver to anyone plus Crutchfield included the dash kit that looks great. Nice touch. I am very pleased with everything. To other 2010 Mazda 3 owners, get rid of that stock radio. Do not try to amp it using line converters. I tried this first and the EQ is horrible. It sounds really bad and gets worse when you increase the volume. Thanks Alpine and thank you Crutchfield!

This is an outstanding product! There are a couple features that Pioneer has that Alpine doesn't, well they do in some cases. The only reason why i gave the CDA-105 4stars was due to the lack of a great built in equalizer and watts. You have to buy addtional products to fully get good wattage and a decent EQ. But the controls are very easy to use, and it does sound great. If your looking for clarity in your cars stereo then this product would be great.

I love the capabilities of this receiver. The sound is simple wonderful. I truly appreciate the ability to read music from a USB drive or from an IPOD. Overall, I rate this a great product... However, I cannot believe that in 2010, Alpine would make a unit in which the display is unreadable in sunlight. I thought we stopped doing that in 1996. That is my only gripe. I simply cannot read the display in the daytime. And, yes, I have tried adjusting the brightness and contrast. I installed this radio last night in my 2002 Honda S2000. The radio fits perfectly and the radio door closes without any problem. I purchased the wiring harness with a DCI from an aftermarket supplier who specializes in adaptors for the S2000 and to my delight, the dashboard controls work as with the stock radio. That was the one thing holding me back from upgrading the radio all these years. I wanted to maintain the dashboard controls. The sound is excellent. After all these years of the stock radio, I'm really enjoying the quality of the music. Also, I'm very happy that I can plug my i- Pod in and listen to hours of music. As always, the customer service people at Crutchfield answered my questions quickly, and the radio was shipped as soon as I placed my order. The customer service at Crutchfield is so good that after a number of purchases I take it for granted and order without even the slightest concern. They included a full compliment of installation instructions specific to my car which made the install a snap. I highly recommend this radio upgrade. I highly recommend Crutchfield.

First off, dealing with Crutchfield has been a great experience (and I don't say that about... well hardly anything at all). The CDA-105 is a nice head unit. Fairly simple interface, good sound, nice subwoofer control (although not having subs, I kind of wonder why this is the first option in the settings before treb, bass, fade, bal, etc...). Really a solid unit, but for some reason I found it lackluster and boring. Within a week of installing, the left front channel blew on this unit. Actually a blessing in disguise as I was already browsing other decks. In the end, I decided to go with the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X794. One of the main reasons for the switch is to be able to have the option to use my iPod/iPhone's controls to browse music as well as using the deck, also the 5 band EQ, 5 line LCD display, and included remote control. I also think it just has a sexier look to it. One of the main reasons I went with Alpine was to add the KTP-455 Power Pack for some extra power without running a complicated amp setup for my door and rear deck speakers, but I may just buy it anyways and splice it into the Kenwood (obviously voiding the Alpine warranty). Anyways, I give the CDA-105 a 3 for being a good solid unit (despite the channel blowing) and Crutchfield a 5 for making every step from purchase, to install, to exchange very easy and pleasurable.

Bought this for my 1999 Volvo V70 AWD XC, fits perfectly with the supplied dash kit and wiring harness. I didn't encounter any problems fitting the HU into the dash (install notes claim you have to notch the dash, but i didn't and it fits great). I drilled a hole to run the i-Pod cable through in the dash cubby compartment that comes with the kit for a nice clean look. The Nano 3 gets stashed outta sight and there are no issues. Now, the Alpine HU is amazing sounding, very loud and tons of bass and very clear highs through the factory 6 speaker system. Got it mostly for the i-Pod control feature, which is very easy to use. The cd player sounds great as well. Menus and set up were pretty intuitive and it was a breeze to figure out the main features. From opening the box to listening to the first song was less than an hour. The only thing keep this from being a 5-star is that it seems the FM tuner's signal is a bit weak, but that could just be the Volvo antenna set up. Not a problem because I rarely listen to FM. Bottom line: amazing sounding, easy to use HU for a great price. Get it.

The CDA-105 has good sound and just enough adjustability to tweak the sound. However an on board EQ would be nice so that you dont have to fork over the money to pick up the IMPRINT system. The options are abundant and the display is crisp and clean. Sound is much more clear and crisp than the stock audio system in my subaru legacy (to be expected). I would recommend this unit for people on a bit of a budget as it allows further customization and add-ons as the money becomes available. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. Only con i have is the lack of an EQ system but messing with treble/bass/balance/sub level (if you have one) creates a clear and very good sound.

Here's the short list- Plusses: 1) Navigates the Ipod menus quickly- fwd/back through the menu levels an improvement over my previous unit. 2) Scroll wheel (aka- Ipod ) style navigation screams through long lists. 3) Very easy & intuitive to use. 4) Not distracting at night. I hate flashy pulsing displays that distract from the road. 5) Great sound Minus: 1) Scroll wheel is very sensitive. If you don't have a fine touch you will find this unit challenging.

Ordered this deck to install in my 03 wrangler sport. Crutchfield sent me everything I needed (besides the plastic crimp things for the wiring harness), plus instructions for installation. I've had almost no experience setting up car stereos, but Crutchfield made it easy, I was up and running in under an hour. Free ipod cable is awesome, deck sounds great & mounts very cleanly. This particular deck is solid, I had a slightly earlier model in my last vehicle and it never let me down. I don't think I will ever go to a shop again, Crutchfield is the way to go!

I wasn't too sure if this was the unit for me, but it was the only model that fit what I wanted in my price range. This thing is great. Just finally got done installing it in my 99 Audi A6. It's everything I wanted. Sounds great, menus aren't too hard to navigate and the display is easy to read. The only frustrations I had during install were with my car and it's stupid Bose factory system. (also all the wires had me cramped for space, but I eventually got it worked out.) The only thing that I was a little unsure about was the colors. I wanted something that was mostly red to match my dash. This was close enough. I came to find out that you can change the illumination of the blue buttons to red. Looks great. Thanks again Crutchfield.

had lots of problems with my 3gs iphone consistently was having a "device error" on display. worked on and off. could get it to work with the original apple charging cable connected to the usb (sometimes) but the alpine connection cable for some reason wasn't as reliable. worked GR8 with all my other ipods (16gb touch and 16gb nano). It should be noted also that i returned the first unit i received which had the same problem so it is not unit specific, probably software. other problem for me was the display. ipod menu navigation is very easy and intuitive but having one line to read information from is very distracting while driving. you cannot control the unit with your ipod. the alpine disables the screen for the ipod function only apps and other stuff work fine on the ipod. sound was great... i had it going through the imprint processor before my amps but didn't get to explore the imprints possibilities as i returned the unit after using it for about a month and a half. crutchfields customer support and signature benefits are unbeatable in my opinion. I have to say my purchasing experiences with them are far better more personal, and efficient than any brick and mortar store. I exchanged my unit to go for another with more display real estate and settled on the kenwood excelon kvt-614. My car is a 2002 subaru wrx if it helps......

This head set rocks with all the features including the CD, USB options, along with the Ipod connector for this price is amazing. There so many options that can be attached for expansion including subs, amps etc. The base unit itself drives a very clean sound without the extra amp power. Crutchfield instructions are very good for the removal of the factory unit and installing this unit. Just an FYI, be sure you have enough clearance on the top of the face plate so it can drop when accessing CDs. Mine was a little tight when first installing. Great unit.

This unit is incredible. I have purchased one for both of my vehicles (2002 Ford Explorer and 1999 Hyundai Elantra) When researching new car stereos, I wanted: - quality sound - MP3 player - Easy MP3 navigation with MP3 tag support - Rear USB - CD Player (without the slot on the face plate) - Dedicated sub output This unit does all of this and more; this is why I purchased two of them! Warning: This unit and most others play the MP3s as they are stored on the media. For those wanting the unit to play music back in alphabetical order, use DriveSort to correctly order the music on the flash drive.

Very disappointed with this deck, really takes Alpines reputation down a notch but what do you expect when everythings made overseas to begin with? This is a great sounding stereo but I am sending it back; it is supposed to be compatible with the Iphone but it countinually disconnected from my 3gs (yes it has the latest firmware thats about all tech support could come up with) restarted the phone, it connects then disconnects -- "no usb detected" device error- happened with 3 different cables. It sounds good, I'll give it that, I have 4 x 6 3/4 alpine speakers and no amp. It really brings the ipod music to life (when it works) but not consistent enough for me to spend money on. If you are looking at this one, read the manual and try to get a feel for the controls, searching for a song on the ipod is ridiculous, it requires several buttons and seconds with eyes off the road--dangerous; the ipod controls are disabled when connected to the deck. Why disable ipod (itouch) controls? Also, there is no eq just lots of band settings to mess with. For the money, alpine should have given at least a few basic eq curves without spending another 250 bucks on the imprint module. For what its worth, I exchanged it for a kenwood that is much more user friendly-- allows the itouch (phone) controls to function. Good sound- horrible controls, not compatible with MY Iphone maybe you will have better luck.

Simply put, a very fine stereo. With the installation kit and accessories supplied by Crutchfield, swapping out the factory unit for this one could not have been easier on our Suburban. The sound from the moment the stereo was turned on instantly out-performed the original equipment. Build quality is excellent. The looks and ease of use are welcome features. No fancy graphics or displays, just pleasing to the eye. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for a moderately priced stereo that still has a lot of performance and features. I also purchased the optional remote, which has proven to be a nice addition.

I did a lot a research before buying this unit. What won me over and validated the results was the ease of use. Navigating between menus and inputs is very simple. My only add on is Sirius but it all works well. The rotary knob has two directions; depress and turn. Being able to quickly adjust the volume with a simple twist of a knob is priceless. I leave the sound settings the same for most music but again adjusting the subwoofer by hitting the knob once and turning the knob is great. Sound quality is awesome, I have Alpine speakers in all 4 doors and a small powered sub behind the rear seat.

i would just like to say first of all, I've read the previous reviews very thoroughly, hoping they would help me make the right decision on this, and reading i found most people were satisfied. when i received and installed this it was clear why. it is a very fine receiver. i believe someone mentioned it felt cheesy, i strongly disagree, feels great and durable. installation was easy my grandma could have done it. i can load tons of mp3s on a cd and switch through my music with the very easy controls, also usb thumb drive works beautifully.no matter what anyone tells you the controls are no harder than playing that first 2-d Mario game. im telling everyone right now, if this is the first upgrade to your sound system, its gonna improve your speakers 200%. it bumps my factory speakers way better than before. now i feel obligated to buy a new set of door and rear speakers. after that it would most likely be too loud to even turn up all the way.

    JME from NH on 11/23/2009

This unit is worth the price. Had installed into a VW Jetta 2001 to replace the factory stereo. **Iphone Users** As I mention before, I mainly bought this unit to listen to music on my Iphone 3GS. When I first plugged in my iphone 3GS using the Alpine Ipod cable (KCU-440i) to the CDA 105, and hit source till it was on Ipod mode. On the screen appeared: Searching...Device Error...Error 03. In other words, the unit did not work with the Iphone 3GS. So I tried using a 1st Gen Iphone, Iphone 3G, and a 1st Gen Ipod Nano. All three worked with the unit and both Iphones had the most recent software update (version 3.1). I thought of using the cable that came with the iphone 3GS. It worked. Then I thought it was the cable adapter for iphone that came with the KCU-440i. So I plugged the Iphone 3GS back into unit using that iphone cable adapter and then that worked. So the iphone 3GS must of needed to use its own cable to establish a first connection with the unit. So to sum up this problem solving story, if your are having problems getting your iphone, whether its 1st Gen, 3G or 3GS, try using the cable that came with the phone to make that first connection. Its kinda weird but it worked for me.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great unit with superb sound quality and controls. It is basically what you would expect from Alpine. Quick side note, I installed this in a 2006 Nissan Frontier, although the Outfit My Car program said it does not fit. Trust me it will, all you have to do is list your vehicle as a 2005 and Crutchfield will include the wiring harness, vehicle installation kit and Alpine iPod cable free of charge. The vehicle installation kit is not great. It feels flimsy at first and the faceplate trim kept falling off, but once you have it in place and re-install the vehicle dash housing, it keeps everything secure and tightly intact. The iPod cable is good. It allows you to charge and control the ipod through the stereo. The controls could be better, I do not have any ideas on how, but it is adequate. I ran the wire to my glove box and keep my ipod in there and out of sight. The real selling point is the sound quality, which Alpine is known for and rightly so. It sounds amazing. I have received many compliments already. The highs are crystal clear and the bass is very present. The EQ is customizable to include the range and level for plenty of frequencies to suit you taste. All and all, a high quality unit for great price. Highly recommended.

I don't have an amp but this unit produces plenty of power for the average driver. The lights look really cool and I like the ability to change the color on the left. The iPod controls probably could be better, but they are fairly easy to use. I wish that this unit allowed two way iPod control, though. This unit is packed with features and I highly recommend it. I purchased this head unit to replace the stock radio mainly to play my ipod through. I was using a fm transmitter which is just horrible. Crutchfield customer service was knowledgeable and very nice on the phone. I also loved that the order came with everything you could need but the tools. I found out afterward that Crutchfield does sell a packaged tool kit with everything that I needed. Kinda wish that they made that more well known. The instructions that Crutchfield supplied were spot on which made install easy. The Alpine HU sounds great out of the box. A definite improvement. I read the manual which others said was helpful. And they were right. The EQ only has treble and bass adjustments but you can pick the frequencies. This fine tuning allows you to shape the sound. You won't miss the mid adjustment at all. Sound is fantastic through my stock speakers. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like through aftermarket speakers. The ipod control does take some getting use to. Again something everyone else said. I got the hang of it after using it for a couple days. Menus are just like the ipods so they make sense. The tuner hold stations very well. I am really satisfied with my Alpine CDA-105 purchase and Crutchfield. I'm even happier that I saved a hundreds of dollars installing it myself which wasn't that hard at all.

This head unit really isn't bad for the money. The only complaint I have is that it doesn't have much built in EQ. There are other units at this price point that do have more in depth EQ. You would have to buy the imprint module to be able to achieve any really good band adjustments. For what it was built to do it does it really well. The Alpine sound is really good...impressive really but would have liked to fine tune just a little bit more. Love the added USB cable it came with...nice touch Crutchfield.

I recently purchase this head unit for 2000 Acura Integra. This is my third Alpine head unit that I've purchased from Crutchfield. I was deciding between the Sony CDX-GT930UI and this head unit. I ended up purchasing the Alpine head unit because I have a first generation Ipod nano which would have require an additional cable/adapter to use with the Sony. The installation manual that came with the order was unclear so I had to do some research online to figure out how to remove the stock head unit. I did have some problems with setting up the aux input since there are three aux types on this head unit. Aux + which is the Bluetooth aux input, Aux Digital which is for the high speed aux cable and the aux which is for the Alpine KCA-121B cable. I called Technical Support and they were able to assist me in properly setting up the head unit. The antenna connector does not fit as snug as most head unit so I had to fiddle with the connector to ensure that it had a solid connection. The sound is superb but lacking some bass, which may be due to the stock speakers. The ipod controls were much better & faster then I thought it would be. The controls were fairly intuitive but does require reading the manual to figure out all the functions. Overall the head unit is well worth the money spent.

I have two minor cons that come to mind: I wish the display would be able to show artist and song title at the same time; it also cuts off the end of the longer song names. The onboard EQ bands are fairly useless in my opinion. You get to chose 10k on up for a high and 200 on down for low. No chance to boosting presence or scooping out low mids. Probably incentive to get the Imprint unit.

This reciever is really easy to operate, looks good in my dash, has 6 RCA outputs so I could hook up my 4 channel 600w Alpine amp to my front and rear speakers, and also hook up my JL Audio amp to my JL Audio 12" sub. The system sounds really awesome. And just the other day, I installed the Alpine Bluetooth interface so now when I am in the truck I never have to pick up my cell phone to scroll through my saved numbers (they show up on my stereo), never have to pick up the phone to make or recieve calls. This is the BEST radio Ive ever owned. I bought it to replace my Alpine CDA-9852, which in itself was a great unit, just no ability to add devices like ipod or an aux input. Ive used everything from Pioneer to Jensen, ect. Alpine has been the best, most reliable and easiest to use Units I have ever used. This Head Unit far exceeded my expectations. For the iPhone users, It does work with the iPhone 3G and 3GS..also with both 3.0 and 3.1 software updates. I've personally tested. It does charge and fully function from just your Original Cable that came with the phone hooked up to the USB port on the back of the radio. This Unit is VERY easy to use and navigate. Customizing settings are very simple. Navigating through your ipod or iphone is super quick and easy. Every button on the radio is clearly labled as to its function. Just a bit of advice, You can use your original ipod cable to connect and fully function from. However, I suggest getting an aftermarket ipod cable that is longer than your original. Since the USB port is on the back, you will need it to reach wherever you choose for connection. Your ipod works if its connected using ONLY that cable, if you try using a USB extension cable to get more length, the radio will not detect or charge the ipod. Im not sure why, but thats just how it works. So invest in a longer cable so you are just using the one. Then everything will work perfectly.

My factory Monsoon stereo in my 2003 GTI died unexpectedly last week. I generally avoid aftermarket radios because they're just too hard to use. I called Crutchfield and asked for a tall order: a radio that was easy to operate but would also control my iPod and had Sirius capability. The adviser immediately pointed me to this radio and said "you will not be disappointed." Well, I wasn't. This fits perfectly in my car, has exactly the same lighting scheme (it doesn't look out of place), and is fairly intuitive to work. Even the Sirius control is pretty good, though in retrospect I may have been better off spending the extra money for the two-line display model so you don't have to wait for the scrolling text to see the artist/song. As you expect from Crutchfield, all the fit kit pieces and detailed installation instructions were helpful and fit perfectly. If you're shopping other places, these parts alone are worth the difference!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just installed in my 1984 Corvette and so far all is good. The sound is so much better/clearer than the previous Sony Xplode head unit (HU) that someone installed previously. I especially like that the HU retracts the antenna when not using the radio; most people have to install a dedicated switch for controlling the antenna to avoid it being up when the HU is on but not playing the radio. I matched this with a set of 6x9 Alpine rear speakers, which also made a huge difference even when installed with the Sony unit. I soldered the adapters wires together and did the heat shrink too, which took the most time. The instructions were very helpful but I had to find another source for the connector pin-out on the vehicle to ensure all was correct. Something is apparently not correct since my left and right speakers are opposite to what they should be when adjusting balance (which is no big deal). I'll eventually install an amp, crossover, sub and run new speaker wires and fix it then. Cons: * When changing the illumination setting from red to blue, it only changes the buttons on the left side; everything else stays red. * USB and iPod dongles are too short - though I was able to get the end of the USB dongle poked out the right side of the dash/console, which is fine. I don't own an iPod and probably never will so the other cable being too short is not a problem.

hu rate/review specific pros: nice sound output even from 192kbp quality mp3 on stock speakers w/ blown rear speakers, good button functions, light color schemes matches factory interior dash lighting, easy install with minimal fabrication about 30min (expert) ~ 90min (newbie), satisfactory seek time on ipod (nano tested, have not tested on larger capacity ipods) cons: faceplate seems a little on the cheap construction-wise compared to earlier alpine hu ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- accessories needed for install rate/review pros: free ipod/usb cable and works great, motorola euro antenna works well (need to connect 12v), harness works well, removal tool makes install simple cons: dash pocket kit had broken parts (suggestion: inspect contents from any defects before shipping out to customers) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- notes: this was my 5th diy install using an alpine hu; 1st time buying complete install kit at crutchfield. search online for real diy instructions that gives you a more detailed install if this will be a diy project. it will make your install easier and almost problem free the first try.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Let me first say that this head unit is great. I love this thing!!!! Now on to the details: I spent about 2 weeks going over different head units that control an iPod. After speaking to Jenny online, she confirmed that this unit was the way to go. She has an Alpine unit in her car and said that the menus to the iPod were the best with Alpine. She was 100% correct. This unit scrolls through the playlists as fast as my iPod does (i have a full 60GB iPod). When I received all of parts that go with the Alpine unit I started putting it all together. It took longer to solder the connections and heat shrink them then it did to put the radio in the car. The instructions were dead on. I had to make a couple of calls to support to verify some connections, and they were very helpful. I did receive a broken mounting kit, but a single call and a new kit was on it's way. I love Crutchfield and this Alpine radio!!!!!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is my first install of a car stereo. The crutchfield instructions were phenomenal and everything went very smoothly. I can't even tell you how good it feels to install everything on your own and make it look professional! The CDA-105 is a great little head unit. It does everything I needed it to do, which was have great sound, adequate audio adjustability, and sub outputs. On top of this, I bought the ALpine power pack to bump up the RMS wattage to 45w. The power pack makes installing a 4 channel amp a lot less appealing because I can't imagine wanting to go any louder without blowing my eardrums. I mounted the little amp in my glove box, it could have easily fit somewhere IN my dash but I didn't have the patience to figure out a mounting option. Anyway, all you do is plug it in between your factory stock harness adapter and the head unit and bam! Instant amp for your door speakers. I have yet to upgrade my door speakers, but to be honest this deck makes them sound so good I'm not in that big of a rush! All in all I'm beyond satisfied with my sound system, mostly because I did it all myself and saved a bunch of money and learned a lot doing it.

Installed this Head Unit in a 2000 Integra and have no complaints at this time. Initially the control knob on the faceplate was not working and Crutchfield sent out a new Head Unit to attempt to replace the faceplate. On the day the replacement arrived my son stated that the control started working. We have had no issues since. The Manual is big!! Its a PDF on a CD so print it out and keep it in the the car for the first couple weeks
