Our take on the Alpine CDE-133BT

Alpine Authorized Online Dealer

Talk hands-free, plus stream music with Bluetooth®
Other devices may come and go, but one thing's for sure — you never leave home without your phone. The Alpine CDE-133BT CD receiver lets you talk hands-free, plus stream music from a compatible phone, all without messy wires.

Advanced Bluetooth features
Have you ever tried to talk to someone, but been unable to understand them because their in-car Bluetooth just didn't cut it? Your callers will hear you loud and clear with the CDE-133BT fielding your calls. First, you can mount the included microphone somewhere in front of you so it'll have no problem picking up your voice. Next, the receiver lets you adjust the mic's gain to best match your speaking voice. You can also tweak the phone output and ring volume, so you won't go diving for the volume knob every time someone calls.

When a call comes in, you'll see your caller's phone number on the screen. You can answer the call by tapping the CDE-133BT's phone button, or set up the receiver to answer all calls automatically. If someone else calls in, just tap the "2" key to activate call waiting.

Stream your tunes, too
If your phone or another device supports Bluetooth music streaming, you can beam your tunes and control playback with the CDE-133BT. Alpine's Sound Expansion technology helps your streaming tunes sound their best.

Great for your iPod® and iPhone®
You can use the CDE-133BT's controls to navigate your iPod's music library, thanks to a convenient front-panel USB input. The person riding shotgun will love Passenger Control Mode, which lets them play DJ while you focus on driving. And let's not forget about what made Alpine famous in the first place — great sound quality. You can adjust your sound to taste with one of the ten equalizer presets or by using the 3-band parametric EQ.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Alpine stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Alpine, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.

Bluetooth note: Bluetooth compatibility of this device may vary, depending on your phone and service provider.

iPod note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

Placing Calls: The Alpine CDE-133BT provides a variety of functions for placing a phone call without using your mobile phone. The Alpine CDE-133BT features full phone book access, call history, voice tag dialing, and redial with compatible phones.

  • Call History: The 80 previously dialed, received, or missed numbers can be retrieved and dialed from memory.

Receiving Calls: The Alpine CDE-133BT provides a couple ways to answer your phone calls without picking up your mobile phone. Incoming calls are announced by a caller ring tone through your vehicle's speakers (music will be muted) & a Caller ID message across your Alpine head unit's display.

  • Manual Answer: Manually answer an incoming call by pressing the "Phone" button on your Alpine head unit.
  • Automatic Answer: Set the Alpine head unit to answer the incoming call automatically; when a call is received, it is answered automatically after approximately 5 seconds.

Excellent stereo for the money

I installed this HU in my 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution SE and it is head and shoulders better than the garbage stock stereo. Clean and simple design and a very good looking display that is not distracting in any way while driving. It has very good sound, despite the fact that I haven't changed the stock speakers yet although that is next on the list. Love all the features it offers, put my entire music library on a thumb drive and tossed out all my poor quality burned CD's. The Bluetooth syncs with my Droid Razr perfectly and works very well. Couldn't be happier with it so far.
Pros:
Easy to use, great looking display, front USB, Bluetooth, great list of features for the money

Fewer Distractions

Let's face it, teens are gonna use their iPhone for communications and music while driving. I researched stereos that will lower the distraction level for my teenager. The CDE-133BT fit my needs. I installed the stereo with my son, bonding time. Then we set it up together. I showed him how to use the features. Music selection is seen on the display of the stereo instead of him fumbling with the iPhone. The display shows who is calling, now I know why he ignores my call, LOL, and has a simple button to push answering the phone, The included microphone makes it easy to talk on the phone hands free as the audio come across the stereo. Illinois has a hands free law anyhow. So the BlueTooth features and iPhone integration reducing distractions for my teen was my main reason for purchasing this stereo. The sound improvement over the stock stereo in the 2004 Neon was a much needed bonus. Thank you Alpine!
Pros:
Reduced Distraction,s Ease of use, great sound quality, very cool looking
Cons:
None for me.

Crutchfield representative "Sid" was extremely helpful in deciding a good, economic replacement for my factory radio.
Pros:
Excellent sound quality. Bluetooth hands-free calling is great.
Cons:
- Buttons a bit too small for these 'old' arthritic fingers.

I bought this unit after vast research on various units. I like it because of the affordability for what I wanted in a stereo. I wanted bluetooth without anything too fancy. It installs easily. I ran the microphone for the bluetooth through the driver side pillar and its above my head. Automatically syncs with my cell phone when i turn on the car. Shop down the road wanted $70 for installation but ive never paid for a stereo install always do myself. Dont need the crutchfield tech support but ive heard they are really good. if you get a unit from them try installing yourself and save a few bucks !!
Pros:
good price and not too flashy. bluetooth syncs with my phone everytime i start the car.
Cons:
for some reason cant get the display to show song title. Dont know if its my phone or what.

I bought this to replace a Toyota factory radio and the comparison isn't even close. The clarity of the sound from the Alpine is much better than the factory radio. All of the extras are a great addition such as Ipod hookup and bluetooth capability. My wife and I like it so much that I am considering buying the same thing for my car along with new speakers. I love Crutchfield wouldn't buy from anywhere else.

I bought the Alpine CDE-133BT to replace a Pioneer P8200BT. It is a much simpler radio to operate. I love the physical buttons to select a radio station or phone number rather than having to search through several menus. The sound of the Alpine is great. My wife says the Alpine bluetooth sounds better than the Pioneer. Pairing was quick with my Motorola Razr cell phone. This is my first Alpine and I love it. As a side note: I installed this into a 2005 Ford Freestar van. The system didn't work with the dimmer control. Do not connect the orange dimmer wire of the radio with the orange/white dimmer wire of the vehicle. I got a blinking display when I did that and the outside temperature display went to -40F. That is too cold, even for Minnesota.
Pros:
Physical buttons to select radio stations and phone numbers.
Cons:
Couldn't get the dimmer function to work. Not a problem in my case.
