I was looking for a basic stereo receiver, with built in Bluetooth functionality, and good audio quality. I have definitely found it in this deck. Super easy to install, I had never installed a stereo myself before. Don't waste your money on paying someone to install it. Youtube is your best friend. Worth the money, great audio, super easy to install, and its an Alpine. Enough said.

    Pros:

Cons: Would like to be able to set the volume for the audio, and the blue tooth audio to be the same level. Right now if you are listening to Bluetooth audio or making a phone call and switch to the radio or cd the audio is ridiculously loud!

    Great product!

Great stereo with powerful sound. A major step up from my sony stereo, which was a piece of trash. I will never buy Sony again. Pushing my alpine speakers and 2-12" subs perfectly fine. Although I still cant figure out the bluetooth phonecall microphone to work, but it may just be me. Also, I dont like pushing the buttons when I have to reconnect my faceplate; they should have left an open space that wont cause excess pressure on the buttons.

Pros: Intuitive layout. User friendly faceplate.

Cons: Buttons that toggle folders via usb and repeat options do not light up, so its difficult to see what Im pressing while driving at night. Biggest annoyance: When on bluetooth audio setting, it will not emit sound when i play something off my phone. I have to toggle thru CD, radio, aux, usb, BACK TO "Bluetooth audio" for the stereo to emit sound from my phone.

I'd purchased a cheaper head to provide BT, CD, and USB support. It was a nightmare of unfinished software. As far as I can tell at this point the Alpine does everything right. Tuner performance is good, sound quality is great, all functions work smoothly. The unit is also allows volume balancing of all the source inputs. I have no complaints.

Pros: good tuner performance. allows volume balancing of all source inputs. Uses the car light control input to auto-dim. Great sound quality.

    Cons: nothing

I have a 2001 Mercedes E320 and the radio finally died and I ordered this Alpine to replace it after seeing so many good reviews. What a nice little system this is. I have the Bose sound system in my Mercedes and this radio sounds great. Bluetooth connectivity to it with my iPhone was a breeze. CD sound is excellent as well. I feel that my car has gotten a significant upgrade with the Alpine. The build quality seems excellent. I know you can spend a lot more on a replacement head unit, but this one really does the trick. You even get a microphone included for voice commands and phone calls. And Crutchfield puts everything you need in the box to install and it goes into the existing space with no modifications. Well done Alpine and Crutchfield!

Pros: Feature set for the money Sound quality

    Cons: None

The Alpine CDE-143BT was an easy install in my 2002 Tahoe. The wiring connectors and plugs provided hooked with little problem; I just have to use one wire from the smaller GM plug and add it to the radio plug to run the original installed subwoofer. The unit puts out enough power to power the Pioneer and and Kenwood speakers. There is a learning curve figuring out some of the controls. I don't like that when the Ipod is plugged in, the unit takes control of the Ipod and I'm unable to change anything on the Ipod unless unplugged from radio. The blue lighted control area is nice and not distracting. Overall, it's a good quality basic unit with cd player that allows USB or smaller plug accessories.

The sound system on the 2005 Honda Odyssey was on its last legs. No longer could it play CDs and there was no input of any sort. But I am not a handy guy and so I was reluctant to replace it. But your service complete with all the parts I would need and great instructions made this so easy I finished it before the guy I asked to come help me got there!

I was looking for a direct replacement with Bluetooth capability and USB. The instructions were pretty straight forward and the install was fairly easy. The two challenges I ran into was (1) the wiring adapter had the [Ignition] and [Battery] pin positions reversed for my application. So I had to remove the pins and reverse them. The stereo will function with them reversed but any saved settings such as the radio stations will be lost every time you turn it off. Even though It is supposed to be a direct plug in, which it probably is for most applications, it was not on my 2004 Sprinter. (2) There is a microphone in the head unit storage box for those of you that want to use your cellphone Bluetooth feature. It was very difficult running the microphone through the factory enclosure as there is no access underneath and you have to feed the wire through a very tight and small area inside the enclosure. After that it was not bad at all. The quality of the sound was immediate and did not disappoint. This is a huge improvement over the factory system and well worth the effort. I later replaced the factory speakers with JBL GTO429 4" 2-way Speakers and installed an older Alpine 5 channel amp I had and some Kicker CompRT 40CWRT672 6-3/4" Dual 2 Ohm Subwoofers and made custom enclosures for them. So far I'm very happy with the head unit and now have a real nice sound system.

Pros: Fairly easy install, very clean sound, lots of nice adjustments and options.

    Cons: None with the unit

This is the third Alpine CDE-143BT I have purchased from Crutchfield. I have one in my wife's Jeep Liberty, one in my Mazda 5 and one in my 97' Suburban. The sound quality is excellent, but what I like the most is the ease of use and fairly intuitive controls. I really dislike controls that require pushing multiple buttons while watching a tiny screen to change mode, source, etc. Having the same unit in all our cars really make it easy to move from car to car and not have to go through a learning curve each time. We also have Sirrius Satellite radio in all 3 cars, plugged into the aux port on the front of the unit. We can then switch the satellite head unit from car to car, which is really convenient.

Pros: Good value, simple controls, intuitive operation

    Cons: none!

Good radio/CD changer for my '95 BMW M3. With the Crutchfield adapter it uses the factory amp which eliminates the need for additional wiring. It sounds good, has bluetooth capability, and fits the dash with no problems. I think it is a little clunky in that it seems to take forever to scroll through the source choices. To go from radio to BT (Android phone), for example, takes several clicks. And the faceplate trim piece seems very flimsy. Overall, though, a great value.

I am impressed with the quality and the functionality of this bluetooth receiver. I have yet to setup bluetooth to connect with my mobile. Routing the microphone wire proved to be less of a challenge because I used a long push button grasping tool to fish the cable jack behind the dash to the radio mic input. That was my greatest worry but it turned out just fine.

Pros: Build quality, ease of switching inputs, sound quality.

Excellent unit. Great being able to use bluetooth in my 2003 vehicle. Excellent sound quality even with factory speakers. Fits seamlessly in my dash. I am very happy with the choice. Called Crutchfield twice during instasllation and they were very helpful.

    Pros: Look, sound, bluetooth

Cons: Minor cons include most buttons too small (as with most if not all aftermarket stereos), wish the microphone was smaller, and don't like holding source button down for 2 seconds to turn it off.

Head unit is just OK it's nothing extraordinary for the price, the sound is good and the detachable face seems a bit low quality and flimsy.

Pros: Ease of installation, I pod/ I phone hook up directly up front

Cons: Cheap low quality feel to detachable face, priced a bit steep for what you get.

The bluetooth audio has a few hick ups and the iPod randomly disconnects and you have to turn the receiver off and on again. ...... but, the few hickups are pretty minor considering how many features I got for the money. It sounds great and has all the features I want for half the cash of the other models I was looking at.

    Pros: Sound, features, look.

I bought this stereo to replace the factory CD/AM-FM player in my 2003 Tundra to get the HD channels locally and use my andriod and apple phones. It is a really good price for the number of features you get. It's not a good as a touch-screen, but if price is a concern, you won't be displeased with the value.

Great radio at a great price. I'm old school and this new Alpine was easy to lean how to use. I love the bluetooth phone pairing option and all the input options for my ipad ipod and usb. Alpine was the stereo to have growing up in the late 1970s and it still seems to be high quality sound equipment today.

Pros: installation was easy with the wiring adapter the Crutchfield team set me up with.

This unit is packed with features. Sounds quality is good. The Factory EQ settings actually make a significant difference unlike older units I've had from competitors. The blue tooth sounds great. Installed it on the right side of my steering column in a 98 4runner. Some people didnt even know I was driving during a call.

The Bluetooth and iPhone control work great. I have had many Alpines in the past and this one doesn't disappoint. I may purchase another one for a different car.

These guys have there act together period. The Alpine fit right in perfectly and the wiring harness plugged right in and hooked up in 15 minutes flat and was playing really nice. Somebody before me did the hard work of taking the dash apart and installing the kit for the radio. All I had to do was to change out the Din bracket and was good to go. This is a very nice Stereo with some nice features. All I wanted was to shape the music to my ears. This unit has Bass, Mid range, Treble, Fader, and Balance, along with Sub-woofer and a hos of other stuff I just cant remember right now. This unit is really worth the reasonable price Crutchfield charges. Everything you need is included except the butt connectors for the speaker wires. I love it, and thanks guys, I am very pleased. Sincerely S. Thompson

I replaced the OEM unit in my '05 Ford Escape with this unit and I'm thrilled with the sound and features. Sounds great and no more having the reach for my phone when it rings. What I don't like it the unit is blindingly bright at night. Yes, it does dim when you turn the headlights on, but barely. I solved the problem with a small piece of window tinting. Right now I can easily take the tinting on and off to suit my needs, but if you can find just the right amount of tint you can leave it on permanently. Otherwise, the instructions that came with the mounting kit were bad, kinda like a 3D puzzle, but once assembled the kit was a perfect fit. Also, the quality of the unit does not seem as tight as as an Alpine I got 5 years ago for another car, although the unit works very well. Plays Pandora and all music wirelessly with no problem and it's easy to move through the menus on my iPhone 4.

Pros: Incredible features for the price and works very well.

Cons: Way too bright at night. Solved with some window tinting.

This CD, MP3, Bluetooth, and radio receiver is awesome. Basically you just hook up the speakers, ground, hot, and ignition wires. Then install the receiver. Very nice for the money. No complaints!

    Pros: Easy wiring

Cons: No internal antenna. Just hasn't been done yet.

I installed this head unit in my 2001 BMW 330CiC! It was fairly easy to install and the folks at crutchfield support were great! What I am so impressed about is all the features this unit has for such a low price. The blue tooth was a little sticky to get started with my android but once going it sounds great! A feature I really need because I drive a stick.

    Pros: Value Sound features

Cons: If you have a BMW you will have to modify the basket! I used a dremel tool to cut out the plastic! With the filter, steering wheel adapter and harnesses there is alot to jam in there. Also I ended up putting the microphone on the scosce plate because I did not feel like ripping the dash to thread it to the drivers side windshiled coulom. I used velcro and attached it to face plate.

I really love Alpine components, and have an older CDA-9887 in my car along with two of their PDX amplifiers. So when it came time to upgrade the factory setup in my girlfriend's car Alpine was on the shortlist. After comparing a few Alpine and Pioneer products I decided that the CDE-143bt was a perfect fit both from a functional aspect as well as an aesthetic one. It's got all the features she needed and none that she didn't.

Installation was straight forward in the 2009 Gallant, but I did run into one issue and this meant a call to Crutchfield for assistance. This is where I take a moment to commend Crutchfield on great customer service. My call was answered immediately, no phone tree to navigate, and the tech representative I spoke to was courteous and knew his stuff. I told the tech the symptoms (sound only coming from front tweeters & rear speakers) and he looked it up quickly and let me know that there was a factory amp that needed to be bypassed in this car, he sent me pictures of the amp, the harnesses connected to it and a list of which wires I would need to tap into. You should absolutely factor in Crutchfield's great service when considering your purchase. Sure I could have found the answers online on some random forum, but who wants to do that when you can get a quick answer that you know will work? not me that's for sure. So minus that small hiccup the installation went smoothly.

The sound quality was clearly improved and the girlfriend is happy. A+++

Pros: Bluetooth App direct Clear display Good Quality audio USB and AUX inputs Crutchfield tech support Looks good

Cons: none that I've discovered so far

My wife accidentally threw away the faceplate to the Kenwood unit I had installed in our Honda CRV. I found out that the faceplate costs a lot to replace. I figure I'd check with Crutchfield to see what was available as a new unit. I wanted Bluetooth, HD radio, axillary & usb inputs, ease of use (my wife is technologically challenged) & quality sound. I found this Alpine CDE-143BT. It fit ALL of my needs & costs less than a faceplate! The Kenwood was nothing but a pain in the ass anyway, so I'm actually glad she trashed the faceplate! The Alpine sounds awesome right out of the box & any adjustments were simple & intuitive. Has all of the important bells & whistles with none of the aggravating hoops you had to jump through to adjust or even change settings in the Kenwood at a fantastic price . It makes me wonder if she threw the Kenwood plate away by accident or just threw it out on the highway in disgust! Either way is fine by me!

Pros: Bluetooth, Aux input, USB input (which will charge your phone), HD Radio, intuitive, Quality sound.

    Cons: NONE!!!

Installed this unit in my Chevy Express cargo van. Fairly easy install, sounds really good. Its got a lot of features I really appreciate, but with one fairly large downside. Probably the worst menu navigation I have ever experienced on virtually anything ever. I know there is a lot going on here, but how on earth the designers at Alpine came up with this is beyond me. You can read the manual over and over while you sit in your car and still get confused. Its like a twisted game of finding the menu you want, and trying to understand how you did it and wonder if you will ever find it again. I dread the day I have a passenger try and find something on there and attempting to explain it to them.

Pros: -Easy to Install -Lots of features -Sounds great -Easy to connect with other Alpine products

Cons: -Difficult interface and menu navigation
