Alpine's CDE-151 CD receiver makes it easy to put just the right amount of kick in your music. You simply press the BASS button on the front panel to access the Bass Engine SQ, a clever feature that makes it easy to tune your bass, including five profiles that you can adjust and store. Backing up the bass is an efficient MOSFET amplifier that provides clean power across the entire range of highs and lows, complemented by a 3-band equalizer for fine-tuning your sound.
You'll find plenty of entertainment options. Tune in to your favorite stations with the AM/FM tuner, or slide in almost any kind of CD, including discs loaded with MP3 and WMA files. You'll find a front-panel USB input for your thumb drives (sorry, no iPod® or iPhone® controls on this model), as well as a handy auxiliary input for other audio sources.
Two good reasons - sound quality and cool features. A new car stereo offers power that's superior to most factory radios, along with more sophisticated tone controls. And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.
This stereo is a HUGE improvement over the factory radio. Installation was easy to follow with the supplied instructions. I ended up having a few installation questions that the Crutchfield support team answered easily. Sound quality and the many adjustments allow you to tweak the music to your specific needs.
Pros: Bass response is very good. Lots of functionality and ease of use. I'm really impressed with the look and tactile feedback of all controls.
Cons: Front panel illumination does not dim with factory dimmer control.
Great product at a great price = true value
Pros: Looks great. Sounds great.
Great stereo for the price. Bass is really good. It's a bit hard to setup the unit. Try could have made that easier.
Pros: Great sound Good bass Nice display that has a dimmer feature
Cons: A little hard to setup
A great improvement over the stock HU in my 2012 Silverado LT. Installed in under 2 hours.
Many thanks to Crutchfield support members !
Pros: Adequate power, with 18 Watts RMS per channel
Great sound and price. Well worth the money.
Suggested by Crutchfield associate after describing what I was trying to accomplish regarding good sound and price restrictions. What I purchased is a very well made, excellent sounding radio/CD player that is easy to use, looks cool, solidly built and easy to install in my vehicle. My wife is very happy with her new go-to-work sounds. I'm glad that I followed Crutchfield's educated suggestions for my situation. Thank You.
Pros: Nice looking design, robust build, sounds great
Replaced an Alpine CDE-124SXM that was in the boat. Crutchfield was very helpful with suggesting a plug-n-play replacement. I no longer needed the Sirius SAT radio, but did not want to mess with wiring a new harness. Took 5 minutes to install it. Excellent unit and has slightly better sound than the previous Alpine, perhaps because of the bass engine. Nice feature.
Pros: Bass engine feature. I also like the red display far better then what the 124SXM had..... I can actually see this one in bright sun on the boat. Simple controls once you read the manual. It has very solid sound, even at higher volumes. Two thumbs up for Crutchfield rep that suggested this unit.
Cons: None thus far.
Bought this to replace the stock radio in my 2007 Dodge Dakota. Works great, lots of presets, and a lot of audio adjustments. I advise buying new speakers too, if you still have the crappy stock speakers like I do.
Easy to use controls. Sounds great. Nice iPod interface.
Pros: IPod interface very nice. Easy controls.
Cons: Wish it had variable dimness.
This is the perfect stereo if you want extra bass in your car without having to buy and install a subwoofer.
Pros: Pros- Great sound quality Easy to install Looks really good
Cons: Menus can be hard to navigate without help from the manual
Had the stock radio out and the new Alpine in and running in less than 15 minutes. sounds much better than the factory radio
Pros: Everthing was included with the purchase, even the extraction tools for pulling out the factory unit. the wiring harness was fool proof and plugged right in.
Great sound and power. Outstanding value. Easy to install. Could use better ergonomics and a more intuitive controls. I would prefer a hard copy of the manual instead of the CD.
Pros: Value, power, sound, features
Cons: controls, ergonomics, set up menu
Easy install and a very noticeable sound difference from the polls factory stereo
Pros: Theusb in the face off the stereo is perfect for any music device
Cons: Doesn't work with android
The unit itself is great it works and does what it should. The reason I m giving it 4 stars rather than 5 is, mostly Crutchfield's fault. On the details page it says the usb can read 255 folders/255 files per folder. No it cant in the users guide it says 100/100 and when i tested it sure enough it only recognizes 100 folders. Which is rather irritating because one of the main reasons i got a new radio was for the usb, and i bought a larger usb for that purpose which now i dont really have a use for. So to Crutchfield you have the correct information available to you so post it!
Cons: does not play the 255 folders/255 files per folder as advertised on CrutchfieldCrutchfield response on October 7, 2014 We have confirmed the Doug's findings and corrected our database and web presentation. Thanks for pointing this out to us!
Great sound for the price
Replaces a semi-broken factory radio in wife's car; it's a big improvement. Sounds fine. Love the USB port; I would not have purchased a radio without it. If you don't already have an Alpine, buy the Crutchfield install package for your vehicle. It has what you need - and probably stuff you don't know that you need. The wiring adapter is great, and I had no clue that I needed an antenna adapter. Happy to have the CDE 151; along with a CDE 141 in second vehicle.
Pros: Alpine known for good quality at reasonable price. I trust 'em. Installation not too difficult. I did it, and I'm mostly an idiot.
Cons: An earlier reviewer noted that changing and setting the levels are not the easiest to decipher. I can see his point. The paper quick-start instructions don't cover everything you need to know. The CD has a more detailed version but that doesn't help on the road, unless you print it out. Buttons glow red. Not my preferred choice but I wanted this model.
Good sound, amazing price. Tuner is good, cd sounds good, but the great thing id the usb port.
Pros: Good sound, usb input for flash drive. All your music in your dashboard. Peppy amp. A great bargain, really. Crutchfield supplied an adapter for my wiring which was really great (thanks guys).
Cons: None, really. A little tricky navigating stuff, but good enough. Annoying volume button - it does other stuff and shouldn't.
Pros: good value , happy with product.
This car stereo is totally awesome.
Pros: It was really easy to install and it has great quality!
Great stereo, great sound and great value for the money, easy to use and great reception on the tuner. Very easy to install, about 20 min total.
Pros: Easy to use and read instructions, great display. the buttons are all easily seen even if you need readers....
Cons: Takes some playing while reading instructions, had trouble getting the demo off but a few minuets and it was gone. No choice on back light color.
easy to use very good stereo
Pros: great sound Quality easy to adjust sounds and clock
Cons: would be nice if I could change the back light color
If you are looking just for a great sound, this is a great choice. But if you want to have easy-to-use device with great interface, stay away from this! Design of Alpine CDE 151 is just terrible. And I mean not a "look" but "usability". the main dialer is so flat, and "ENTER" action is very easy to press without any feedback. So, during the driving volume's adjustment is almost impossible - any road shock have a result pressing of the dialer and search mode entering. You will lose the common "mute" option. Other buttons also very small, and you will have to looking to the receiver to pressing needed button.
As a result, you will have no options to handle this receiver without the remote control, but you will lose some options with this.
Very bad design!
Pros: Good sound low price
Cons: Extremely bad design and usability. It's just unsafe device!
I am so very happy to have a new stereo in my old car. I had the original 1998 in my car, nothing worked well. Very happy to have found one at CRUTCHFIELD! Thanks!
Pros: It works so well even with the factory speakers. Love it.
Cons: Dont have any.
Typical alpine simplicity and power. Looks great, easy to use,and a good value!
Really like this unit, was easy to install.
Pros: usb charges phone
Cons: demo mode
I love it pretty much
Pros: Beautiful radio easy hook up great sound can't beat it
Cons: My phone won't play thought the USB port makes me sad
Good unit for the price. Display seems a lil cheap looking but I bought for function and not looks!
Pros: Simple to use. Good sound quality!
Cons: Wish it had a remote.
Alpine has developed a quality product at an affordable price.
Pros: Bass boast. Fit. Style. Output. Great value for the price.
Cons: unable to see certain display features. Color (I am a purist and loved the old green color with the opaque buttons)!
