The HCE-100XM delivers XM's NavTraffic service to your compatible Alpine navigation system — subscribe to it, and you'll receive continuous updates on traffic conditions along the programmed routes you drive.

While your navigation system guides you, NavTraffic keeps an eye on accidents, lane closures, and delays along your route, and warns you in time to make adjustments. It'll also let you know if there are any scheduled traffic incidents, like traffic diversions, sporting events, road construction, and more. In some areas, it even informs you of the speed of traffic flow on the roads ahead.

You'll need to be sure and pick up a roof-mount XM antenna to receive the signal. The HCE-100XM only picks up the NavTraffic service. If you'd like to subscribe to XM Satellite Radio, too, you'll need a separate XM radio (not included), which you can connect to the HCE-100XM's antenna output.

Please note: the required NavTraffic subscription costs $9.99 per month. If you have the additional XM radio, you can subscribe to XM for $12.95 per month, plus $3.99 per month for NavTraffic. XM service is available only in the lower 48 states, not available in Alaska, Hawaii, or U.S. territories.

NavTraffic is currently available in most major metropolitan areas.

Note: Sorry, Crutchfield cannot ship Alpine products to Guam or Puerto Rico.

General Features

Product Overview: If this receiver is connected to an XM compatible Alpine navigation system, Traffic and Weather information can be received and displayed on the navigation screen. A subscription to XM NavTraffic and a vehicle antenna are required.

XM NavTraffic: Powered by NAVTEQ Traffic, XM is the nation's first satellite-based data traffic information service that enables a vehicle's on-board GPS navigation system to display current traffic information for select metropolitan areas, including the driver's chosen route. XM NavTraffic can display the following information:

  • Real-time traffic flow information (including the actual traffic speed data in some cases)
  • Unscheduled traffic incident data (such as accidents, disabled vehicles, and weather-related issues)
  • Scheduled traffic incident data (such as road construction and road closures)

Note: Because the reporting of information on traffic accidents, disabled vehicles, etc. relies on human interaction, the time span from when an incident occurs and when is displayed by XM NavTraffic will vary.

Navigation Features

Detour: When a traffic delay is detected, you can detour around the area with one touch of a button.

NAVTEQ Traffic: NAVTEQ Traffic provides the traffic flow and incident information for the XM NavTraffic service. This data is collected from multiple sources across the country, including leading commercial traffic data providers, government departments of transportation, police and emergency services, road sensors, cameras, and real-time aircraft reports. NAVTEQ Traffic frequently performs extensive data quality processing to provide the most complete and accurate nationwide traffic information feed.
