Features

Overview: Add the Alpine HCE-C104 rear-view camera to your vehicle's in-dash monitor for added safety and back out of parking spots with more ease. This small camera (mounting bracket included) can be installed on the rear bumper or by the license plate of your SUV, truck, or car. The high quality color picture is projected right onto your vehicle's in-dash monitor via composite video so you can view what's behind you, right from the convenience of your dash. The Alpine HCE-C104 consists of a rear-view camera, mounting bracket, as well as necessary cable and hardware for installation.

Note: Because the HCE-C104 has a standard composite video output (RCA), it can be used with any monitor with a composite video rear-camera input.

Rear-View Camera: The rear-view camera assists you (the driver) in checking behind your vehicle by sending images to your vehicle's in-dash monitor, showing conditions behind the car. The camera uses a wide-angle lens, therefore, there is a difference in distance perspective between what is normally seen and what appears on the screen. Also, the images shown by the camera are reversed, so as to appear the same as what is seen through the rearview mirror. The Alpine rear-view camera offers the following additional features.

  • Weatherproof housing
  • 1/4" color CMOS image sensor with a 4:3 aspect ratio
  • 640 x 480 (300,000) effective pixels
  • 132° horizontal viewing angle, 105° vertical viewing angle
  • Illumination Range of 1.5 lx to 100,000 lx
  • F=1.28 focal length
  • F=2.4 brightness

Customer Q&A

Q
Can I adjust the camera?

A
The camera is adjustable up and down but not side to side. You can adjust the side to side by how you mount it via 4 screws. I have had this camera for over a year and love it
kevin  May 12, 2015
A
The camera comes with a bracket that will let you tilt it up and down.
perry  May 12, 2015
A
The mounting bracket allows the camera mounting angle to be 'adjusted' along 1 axis. The way I have mine mounted, I can loosen a screw, adjust the view 'Up' or 'Down', then retighten the screw. Depending on the other hardware & software in your application, you may be able to further 'adjust' the view; for example, I can stretch, or squeeze the image to fill the aspect ratio of my display, I can turn off or on some display guide lines, etc.

A
You can adjust the angle of view up or down depending on what's needed.
john  May 11, 2015
A
There is a supplied bracket with an adhesive pad used for mounting. It is adjustable vertically to a certain extent by adjusting a small set screw to lock into final position. The camera view is not adjustable.
tom  May 11, 2015
Q
Does the camera automatically turn on if you have a manual transmission? If so, how? By splicing into a reverse wire somewhere? I have a 2009 Mustang GT.

sorry michael, I had mine installed with my stereo, in my F450 camper bus, yesterday so don't know how mine works yet, won't get back for a while,as they are installing other interior items Vernon
vernon e  Mar 14, 2014
A
It does turn on when put in reverse. That is a function of your indash receiver. There is a wire which connects to your reverse lights. When power is applied to it the unit switches on the camera.
ramon  Mar 14, 2014

Not sure what head unit you have but mine I ran to accessory because I can whatch the camera while I drive then I taped off the reverse light to the orange wire off my alpine to auto mastic ally come on in revers

Hi Michael, I have an automatic transmission, and yes I had to connect the camera power activation wire to the wire the provides power to the backup lights. I'm sure it will be the same for you.
jim  Mar 13, 2014
A
Sorry Michael, but, I bought this camera for my son in Wisconsin, so I have no idea how it works. He hasn't installed it in his vehicle yet.
marja  Mar 13, 2014
A
Yes it does. Ideally they have you splice into the wiring harness. I was lazy and tapped into a back up light.
