Alpine CDE-137BT

Bluetooth, evolved

Ever have that confusing conversation over Bluetooth where your caller keeps asking you to repeat what you're saying? Alpine gives you the tools you need need to end those annoying calls. First, you can mount the included microphone in a good spot in front of you so it'll have no problem picking up your voice. Next, the receiver lets you adjust the mic's gain to best match your speaking voice. You can also tweak the phone output and ring volume, so you won't go diving for the volume knob every time someone calls. And, last of all, this Alpine downloads up to a thousand names from your phonebook, and allows you to search by alphabet to find the number you want.

Stream music to your dash

If your phone or another device supports Bluetooth music streaming, you can beam your tunes and control playback with the CDE-HD137BT. You won't get full control this way, but you can perform some basic functions like track up and track down. Best of all, no wires are needed.

Built-in HD Radio™ and iTunes® tagging

Alpine's HD Radio tuner lets you tune in digital AM/FM broadcasts, significantly pumping up the sound quality. Participating FM stations sound about as good as a CD, while AM stations sound like traditional FM. If you've got subs in your system, you'll appreciate the bass HD Radio puts back in your favorite tunes. Plus while your iPod's connected and you've got an HD Radio station tuned in, you can "tag" songs you like for later purchase from the iTunes store.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most vehicles, you can use an adapter to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Alpine stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the CDE-HD137BT, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

I was in need of a new receiver for my car and just needed something basic. After looking at different radios, features, etc I decided to get something I would be happy with. I had an Alpine years ago in another car so I was familiar with their quality. I must say I am very pleased with my purchase not only does it look good but it made my stock speakers come alive. Crutchfield rocks with fast shipping and they supply the kit and harness along with detailed instructions for installing. Thank you Alpine and Crutchfield!!

Pros: Alpine quality Bluetooth HD Radio Looks great sounds even better

Cons: It doesnt drive the car

Awesome sound, easy controls although they are small buttons. Probably bad for a person with large finger tips. Most of my AM stations are received in HD. Reasonable Equalizer controls. I can adjust any input to my hearing pleasure. Overall great product. I have been purchasing stereo equipment from Crutchfield for some time. Always great service.

Pros: Nice equalizer, Nice display and color scheme. Easy to program and use. Quality build.

Cons: Few modications were needed in wiring harness. Not a perfect fit in wiring. Had to modify dash installation depth to be flush with climate controls.

I purchased this unit for my wife. I was looking to add an iphone connection to her car, but there was limited options for this year Mercedes, and the cost would be around $300. I considered other options and found the Alpine 137. It had the iphone/ipod usb connection which charges the unit, an auxillary input and she can play mp3's from the cd player. Installation was relatively simple with the dash wiring kit and antenna adapter Crutchfield included. I was able to purchase a steering wheel interface to make the factory wheel controls operate some of the functions on the Alpine unit. This head unit has a remote input jack on the rear as well as a mic jack for the supplied microphone for the hands free calling. The dash wiring kit was already to plug into the pre-outs on the radio and work with the existing Bose system. The sound quality is great and the iphone paired up perfectly with the radio. She can now stream music or take calls via bluetooth. The phone is a 4s so all the Siri functions work by voice command through the bluetooth. The radio controls can't scroll the menus in the phone via bluetooth, but it can when connected to the usb. We could not be happier with the unit and the functions. The unit and the interfaces I bought still cost less than the ipod adapter kit I was originally looking at, plus we gained a lot more. I looked around and did not find much better pricing than Crutchfield, especially with the free wiring kit, antenna adapter and free shipping.

Pros: Bluetooth can stream audio and phone calls. Aux input. Very good sound quality. Steering wheel control interface capability.

Cons: None that I can think of.

The receiver is awesome! I had a bit of difficulty during the install because the instructions did not specify that the install kit frame that is included, from Crutchfield, actually comes apart and the rear part goes in before anything else and the front part goes in last. The instructions only showed a single frame piece. After a quick call to Crutchfield, all was resolved. The actual receiver is awesome with all of its features. The hands free calling comes in as clear as a bell and the callers claim that it sounds like I am actually on the phone with them. The Bluetooth connectivity with my phone is great and the Pandora is a plus, even though I don't listen to Pandora much due to Sprint's 3G only coverage in the Northeast. One thing that did confuse me and required some reading, was determining how to change the radio station without scanning. This required going to menu and changing the option from scan to single or something like that. Other than that, I couldn't be any happier.

Pros: The receiver works great and sounds great! HD stereo sounds awesome as does all other features. The price was the lowest I could find seeing as how the installation gear comes free with the purchase. Even the auction websites couldn't match the price with used parts.

Cons: I only purchased this receiver because the CDE-133BT (I think that was the model number) became discontinued literally minutes before I bought it. I was willing to pay extra, and honestly, it doesn't bother me. As stated in the review, it was convoluted as to how to change the radio station one channel at a time without scanning. Pandora occasionally opens slowly, but it could be my poor internet connection. That is truly all that I have an issue with, otherwise, it's a great receiver.

This is a great choice and offers a little something for all your needs. Streaming audio through Bluetooth is smooth and sounds great. My HTC One X with Beats Audio sounds amazing streaming over BT or a directly connection. HD Radio is the future and offers another choice when you want good quality music without fighting with your phone. Pandora controls are great but quality is average. I never had any issues with Pandora streaming and controls through the main unit worked flawlessly. There is plenty of room to expand with three preamp outputs and they are clearly marked. Phone call quality is great. I have a 05 F150 Extended Cab. People can hear me clearly and without distortion at highway speeds. I positioned the mic on the top edge of the driver side pillar and it works perfectly.

I love this Receiver. I have installed several Head Units in my vehicles and usually when I buy a Jeep the first thing I do is upgrade the audio. I was really interested in BT Streaming. I commute daily to work and I like listening to my music, not the radio. I love the ability to connect my IPhone through BT. I have had zero problems with this head unit. The BT phone connection is a bonus, but not the reason that I bought it. It was really easy to set up and install. Crutchfield is amazing with the installation worksheets. Overall great purchase experience and I would recommend this product to anyone.

Alpine hit it off with all the feature sets offered with this head-unit. Bluetooth works fine for calls but I haven't tested audio functionality with it. It sounds nice in the car I have it in, also has the factory Mach460 sound-system, make sure you cut the coaxial plugs off and use the standard audio feed from the head-unit unless you want it to sound flat. The built in EQ presets are mediocre, usually it sounds best with your own preset. To date this head unit is feature rich and has HD-audio while keeping the radio up to date with current trending technology. If you want something feature rich, go with this. It has everything you need.

Pros: Parametric EQ settings, quality, sound. HU dims when dash lights come on.

Cons: With the iPod classic it doesn't seem to memorize the playlist or artists you had selected when you turn the car off, I believe that's due to the application issue within the iPod itself rather the head unit, alpine needs to fix this for future head units as this problem existed in previous ones I've owned.

I installed this unit last weekend in my 2005 silverado extended cab P/U. The instruction I that came with this unit were kind of vague but the tech support from Crutchfields were a big help. My truck has the Bose system so I used the Crux SOOGM-15 interphase. The install would have been a breese but I got ahead of myself and installed the resistors in the harness because because the instructions said "hissing was possible" without adding the resistors. After I had the unit installed, the sound was horrible. I called Crutchfield and explained the problem and they recommended that I take the resistors out. After doing this, it sounded incredible. What an improvement over the factory deck. The only problem I'm having now is syncing my phone to the bluetooth.

    Pros: Sound Quality

    Cons: Bluetooth

Bought this for my son's 1999 Nissan Sentra. He loves his radio; I offered to buy him new speakers but he say the quality is good enough with this radio in lieu of the old one.

Pros: Reasonably priced, worth every penny. Bluetooth works fine, improved quality of sound of factory speakers. I had to assist him in cutting the plastic frame for the dash, but it he was able to install the radio by himslef without a problem.

    Cons: None so far.

Installation on Honda S2000 was straightforward. Sound is great, radio gets decent reception. Only bad news is the Bluetooth with my phone doesn't work reliably. Every few times I get in the car, the Alpine reports "No Unit" and I have to re-pair. Very annoying. Hopefully an Android update or new firmware from Alpine will fix this at some point.

    Pros: Good sound, easy installation.

Installed in my '08 Lancer. Great head unit! I have an iPhone and discovered that with the update to iOS6 the AVRCP Bluetooth profile version supported on the iPhone is only 1.4 and this head unit only supports AVRCP 1.3 currently. I say currently because this unit supports firmware updates and would imagine updates should come somewhat soon (official Facebook post stating firmware update in the works. FYI the AVRCP profile allows the head unit audio controls like pause, play, next song, previous song, now playing song name. Without this profile support all song changes need to be made on the iPhone itself. A2DP profile still works so audio streams perfectly.

Pros: *Great buttons *Great Bluetooth quality *Great Bluetooth mic (included) *Decent Equalizer *Ease of use

Cons: *AVRCP 1.3 Support Only (iOS6 only supports 1.4) *No rear USB port *Audio settings can be slightly adjusted between sources but EQ settings are static across all sources (sucks when BT Audio EQ settings are great but then switching to HD Radio audio sounds hallow) *Remembering to click the back button to go backwards in the menu *Not a whole lot of control over settings (exception being the Equalizer, this may be a pro for those who like a quick setup and not a lot of configuration)

Installed in a 2004 Toyota Matrix and am satisfied. Looks and sounds great as with Alpine products I've owned in the past. I prefer Alpine to other aftermarket HU manufacturer's because the quality is great, sound is great, and the appearance is clean and not too flashy (no gimicky animations or neon colors) - which makes it fit in well in an adult's car. My only complaints are that the unit start up can take a few moments after ignition, which was disconcerting at first, but I've gotten used to it. My phone (Samsung Galaxy S III) was not compatible with the Pandora bluetooth streaming, which after reviewing the manufacturer's documentation again I realized was not guaranteed. To my knowledge, Alpine does not maintain a list of compatible Android phones for this feature. Either way, I can still stream through bluetooth audio, just the controls are not available through the HU. Considering the great product, I would not change my purchase based on the bluetooth Pandora alone, and it still gets 5 stars from me.

    Pros: Appearance, Sound Quality, Functionality

Cons: Boot Delay, Compatibility Issues with Pandora Bluetooth

It appears that Alpine missed the remote command to advance music folders and radio presets. Seek will only the next station if finds and not user presets. The so called dimable display is more a joke that useful. I am disappointed Alpine did such a poor job with this feature. The "dim" is binary - two settings; OK and slightly less. pretty much useless IMO. Dimmable should mean controllable in an analogue way not some fixed guess by the designer.

Pros: Easy to learn to navigate the menus. Good FM reception in bad areas.

Cons: No advance through station presets or music folders. No useful display dimming. BlueTooth will not automatically reconnect if you walk away from the running car and return. You must manually reconnect or restart the vehicle. (bad). If vehicle power is disconnected most user settings are lost. Can't display clock and station frequency at the same time.

Great head unit! Powerful. My main reason I bought this product is the bluetooth capabilities. Great sound in the vehicle, and everyone I talk to has no issues with the sound on the other end, There are a few setting adjustments that I made to dial it in for the person on the other end. Easy to do.

It's a good stereo, and I feel like a made a good decision in buying it. But the installation process was not without its disappointments and one of my favorite features that I expected to be standard is just not present. Calling Alpine customer support for help and guidance was not a pleasant experience. I was treated like an annoyance. It was my first time installing a car stereo and so I had some learning to do, but I spent probably 20 hours installing, uninstalling, reinstalling, and doing research to learn everything I needed to learn. The manual says to have it installed by a dealer. But when you're purchasing the product nothing says "can only be installed by a professional". Worst of all the bluetooth microphone plugs into the BACK of the unit and this is easy to overlook during install. Would be nice if it were wireless or if there were much better instructions about how to install the microphone.

Pros: --feature rich (bluetooth pandora, iPod, thumbdrive, HD radio, bluetooth calling, aux in all work) --sound quality delivers. Happy with the sound, even with the existing (factory) speakers. --good price point --the Alpine parts and manual were good but not great --the Crutchfield additional instructions for a Honda Civic were good but not great --I was looking to take a step up from the factory installed stereo to something that would allow bluetooth calling and an ipod plugin and this is

Cons: --The stereo does not screw into the receiver assembly. It is held in place loosely by 4 metal prongs that simply exert pressure on it. Stereo can be easily stolen. --There are NO instructions on where to place the microphone either in the Alpine or the Crutchfield install guides. I found this a ridiculous oversight, especially for someone like me who had never done this before. --Both the Alpine and Crutchfield installation guides were too general about how to remove the panels.

I think it's a great product I am very happy with what I have received from Alpine. The sound quality is superior and it's a near perfect receiver.

Pros: AUX and USB inserts. Pandora Bluetooth connection. HD Radio

Cons: Their are a few but not many. The BT Pandora feature does not support iPhones. And it doesn't play WMA or ACC music files on CD's.

This is a very cool head unit with Cd/MP3 player, USB input on front, Aux input on front, and easy Bluetooth.

Pros: Easy Crutchfield install kit, Bluetooth works great and was easy to get going, HD radio has great sound too.

Cons: HD radio range was disappointing. Fortunately, I have a Sirius receiver in line with antenna for long trips. Also display is hard to see in bright daylight.

After searching the web for a while trying to find a receiver to connect with auxiliary, Bluetooth and USB, I decided on this alpine. I wasn't looking for anything really high end seeing as how I have stock speakers in my Tacoma. The receiver install went really well with all of the extra stuff Crutchfield sent along with it (install took me about 2 hours as a first timer). Connectivity with my phone is spot on constantly with my Galaxy S3. Auxiliary is perfect and the USB i mainly use to charge my phone while I'm in the car. The option to use Pandora works pretty well for the most part but seems to have a long connecting time and a lag after skipping songs, if i want to use Pandora i usually just leave it on Bluetooth audio and change songs on my phone. The HD radio is a surprisingly nice addition that I didn't think I would ever use. My car is picking up all kinds of additional radio stations. The Microphone that comes with the receiver is very high quality, most people I talk to can't tell I'm in my car. The installation was kind of a pain but I'm writing that off to being inexperienced at this. Overall I'm very happy with picking this product and even happier that I went with Crutchfield instead of grabbing it off another retailer's website. I saved a ton of money and headaches by getting their free harnesses.

Just bought it and installed at a big box store. looks good and sound is good compared to my old 2006 chrysler OEM stereo. I did pair it with my Android 4.1 phone & switched the source on the stereo to Bluetooth audio, even though the phone is paired successfully. I dont get audio all the time. Its a big hassle.

I replaced the factory stereo in my 2005 BMW 325xi. I've been waiting for a single aftermarket unit with both HD radio and Bluetooth. HD Radio - I love it. I had HD radio in a previous car, courtesy of a JVC aftermarket stereo, so I wanted it in the car I'm driving now. The HD sound clarity is great, some commercial free channels. The problem with my previous JVC unit: poor reception about 20 miles away from NYC. This Alpine pulls in HD stations twice as far! And the Alpine finds more non-HD AM/FM stations than the factory BMW stereo. Bluetooth - It works great. Fast and easy pairing with iPhone 4s. Great sound in both directions. The wired mic was easy to route behind the glove box, and under trim around window to bring the mic out by the rear view mirror for perfect placement. Install: Easy. There are good instructions online that show how to pull apart the dash, route all the wires, etc. It's a step-by-step for a 2005 3 series. I also added an Axxess SWC which ties directly into the BMW Ibus. To make your install easy, buy the BMW wiring harness mating plug and preassemble everything. This will mean no cutting/soldering in the car. Remember to hook up the blue remote/power ant wire, as this also tells the BMW amp to turn on (no blue wire connection = no sound). To make the Axxess install without cutting wiries, connect the Axxess control wire to the Ibus (pin 7 in the BMW harness) in the connector.

Pros: Complete set of functions. HD Radio. Bluetooth (compatible with iPhone 4s).

Cons: No color adjustment to match car lighting color. A bit tough to fit into the old slot replacing the factory radio. Not a lot of room behind the radio to fit the wires.

I was looking at this and a comparable Kenwood. I went to a local retailer to play with them and I couldn't work the Kenwood very easily, however I could work the Alpine very easily. Speaking with a few people the Alpine got way better reviews than Kenwood. I have to say, while it isn't as pretty as the Kenwood, it just works. Honestly, I want something that works first, style points are second. It does what I need it to do and once it is set up all you have to do is enjoy it! Like I said earlier, it just works. Good choice. It sounds great in my 4 speaker system and easy to use while driving. Alpine got a lot of great reviews from other installers and other users, count me in that group too....one note, pandora integration doesn't work on iPhone, you just play pandora through the Bluetooth audio.

Pros: Sounds great, works with iPhone, crutchfield tech support was awesome. Easy to work, HD radio is great. Clear display, front USB and aux jack. BT phone is cool

Cons: Standard 1line display, no rear USB or aux ports. Pandora on iPhone does NOT integrate with the radio. Preset buttons are small. Owners manual is on cd.

This unit does everything I hoped for when I ordered it. Great upgrade over the factory stereo in my 02 Ford Ranger standard cab. I kept the factory speakers, so I may not be getting the best sound this unit has to offer. A few minutes of reading the brief manual and some experimentation, and I'm loving the iPod connectivity, HD radio, and hands free calling with Bluetooth.

Pros: Great iPod connectivity, HD stations sound great, excellent Bluetooth phone connectivity.

Cons: Wish the display could be set to marquee to scroll station (or track in iPod mode), artist, and song. Seems I have to pick only one of these at a time.

I was a bit disappointed in the Android integration, not only does it read the Android via USB the bluetooth streaming is very rudimentary with no music information. If this is a limitation of Android or Bluetooth then I would like to see Alpine make an App for Android to better integrate.

Really really nice. Installed in a 2000 grand marquis. Was looking for a "do it all" that also looked classy in the vehicle. I didn't need the extras like a touch screen/video/DVD and all that stuff. LOVE the built-in blue tooth. Paired to a droid bionic. Very easy. Once it's paired, you don't even need to look at the phone. Pandora starts automatically, phone calls, phone book, call history, everything shows up right on the Alpine screen. I did the wiring harness one afternoon and had the whole radio installed including bluetooth microphone (nice long cord!) in less than an hour. The radio is super intuitive, no need to look at the manual for every little thing, the layout just makes sense. Plenty of outputs for separate amps. This unit is a great place to start a great system.

Pros: Does it all and it works. No need for a complicated setup, multiple menus or any of that. Someone put thought into the controls and they just work.

Cons: If I HAD to find a fault, it would be that the radio is slightly underpowered....BUT, if you are buying this, you will probably be adding amps at some later date.

Really love my new Alpine system. I was worried that I might have difficulty installing this in my 99 Plymouth Grand Voyager, but did not have one bit of trouble. The wiring harness and the "Chrysler Kit" provided by Crutchfield both worked without the slightest hitch. I was even able to route the (plenty long) microphone wire so that my mic is hanging from the front of the headliner in a very neat fashion. I wanted this unit not only as an upgrade, but for the bluetooth functionality. Using the bluetooth has been very satisfactory - I am well pleased. The HD radio is also a great addition. I like to listen to some AM talk stations from time to time and in many cased you can find these being broadcast on the 2nd or 3rd channel of an FM radio station and the sound quality is phenominal. Integration with my Android phone is seamless (HTC Droid Incredible). Over all I am very pleased with the purchase and the "Crutchfield Extras" really seal the deal.

Pros: Bluetooth phone, Bluetooth Audio, HD Radio, Selectable equalizer settings (I prefer the "country" setting myself). Easy install in 99 Plymouth Grand Voyager - works well with the factory speakers (I do not have the Infinity system)

Cons: Regular AM radio is not very good. Not really a con, but full users manual (you will need to read it to set this up how you want it) is only on the provided CD. You will want to print it off so you can easily access it while in front of the unit. Display is a little hard to read in full sunlight. USB does not list Folder names, etc, so it is hard to find what you want to listen to. Doesn't serve me breakfast on the way to work.

I bought this radio to replace a higher model Alpine head unit that I bought about 5 years ago that had terribel FM reception. Sound quality seems significantly better then the previous unit and it it has the usb and aux. input on the front. I was anticipating that I would be able to just pull out the old unit and plug the new one in. No such luck. For some stupid reason Alpine changed the connector on the back of the unit. There are still the same number of wires. They are the same color and in the same location, but the plug is different. Thanks Alpine !!! Although the overall sound quality is great (CD quality) my basic factory head unit in my 2009 jeep wrangler still gets better reception. Overall I honestly feel that unless you are really going to go crazy high end with aftermarket stereo equipment or you are trying to put a system together that everyone in the neiborhood can listen to, you are better off with an upgrade factory system.

Pros: HD radio and overall sound quality is excellent. No need to use the fancy equalizer settings. Just turn the treble up a little.

Cons: Wire harness that plugs directly into back of radio has changed from older model Alpine head units. FM radio reception still not as good as factory radio !!!

Nice receiver. Way better than the factory suburu receiver. Sound is far better in quality and happy with the Bluetooth and USB port. If you're an iPhone user be aware that the pandora feature in this radio does not work. I was a little disappointed with crutchfield advisors who said this would be a great radio for iPhone users when this receiver is specifically marketed to droid and blackberry users. I'm sure there are other receivers out there that would specifically lean to the iPhone but I'm not sure if I want to re-install another unit.

I love this deck! It is an incredible value when you consider all the features and quality that Alpine packs in. It is a big improvement in sound quality over my Pioneer deck. The mids, highs, and bass all sound better. The subwoofer control is the best I have ever had on a head unit. The bluetooth audio and phone features work great. The Pandora control for Android is awesome! I only have 2 complaints: 1. The Pandora control sometimes takes some finesse to get started. 2. I wish bluetooth audio displayed song information, but this may be an issue with my phone.

I'm very disappointed with this product. I looked at all the ratings and most people loved this stereo so I expected better. I linked my Android Commando to the head unit and everything worked great until..... I stopped at a relatives then started the car back up and only the BT AUDIO source would work the BT PANDORA source would just read "NO PANDORA" and wouldn't work-I could still get Pandora through the BT AUDIO but I bought the unit so I didn't have to fumble with my phone to listen to Pandora. I called Crutchfield tech support for help, they had me reset the stereo it then worked again till I shut off the vehicule then it was back to "NO PANDORA". The tech was stumped and told me they have had problems with several Android phones linking to this unit and I needed to call Alpine for a fix. My last several stereos have been Pioneers and I have had nothing but good use from them (except they can be complicated to use) I thought I would try a Alpine this time, that was a bad choice. One other thing if you have a Eddie Bauer or Limited Explorer be prepared for some major work to replace the stereo. I've done many stereo replacements but none like this one I started but had to have a sound shop finish. You have to override the amp at the back of SUV and that requires you to run a bunch of wires from that amp to the head unit, not an easy job. Then there's the antenna wire..........

Pros: Simple to use and setup.

Cons: Pandora will not link to phone. Simple one color LCD

A basic unit with a lot of features. Installed easily (with the Crutchfield supplied double din adapter, wiring harness, instructions and factory radio extraction tools). Sound is far superior to the factory unit even with the original speakers. I haven't test all the features yet but I am happy so far (both with the radio and Crutchfield).

    Pros: HD Radio. Great sound.

Cons: Buttons a little small and hard to see at night.

I would recommend this to my friend....

Pros: a lot... This baby has almost everything you can think of

Cons: to switch between sources you have to click the same button until you got it, in case you press one more, you have to go over again, like setting the digital clock with one button... Also changing the folders on MP3 should be more intuitive.

works perfectly with the android ICS. have not had any problems. Was a breeze to install into the F150. The instructions were perfect.

Pros: BT connected in seconds. plays IHEARTRADIO, Stored music,

Cons: unable to change display color. when using the navigator on the cell phone the radio volume drops to allow the navigator to talk, but it's very hard to hear the directions. Wish there was a way to turn up that speaking volume.

I've been a big Alpine fan for years and this unit is no exception. It was very easy to install and setup. I had my phone paired and connected in just a few minutes and was making calls and listening to Pandora in no time. Not much else to say that hasn't been said already. Sound is great, features are great, and you won't go wrong one of these!

This head unit is incredibly intuitive. It doesn't have the fanciest display, but it is no-nonsense and a breeze to set-up the bluetooth features. I was making phone calls in no time, and the sound quality of the phone call (with the mic mounted on my sun visor) was terrific. Bluetooth audio is near-cd quality. Love this head unit, what a value. I would recommend to anyone.

Pros: Ease of operation, simplicity, HD radio capability, Bluetooth capabiliity

Cons: Have to mount external mic for BT calling (but this mic is very good.)

Just had this baby installed. My first impression was that the sound quality was amazing. I kept all the factory door speakers and added a sub. This head unit brought even more life to my stock speakers. You cannot beat Alpine's sound quality. Bluetooth pairing was simple and I did it without even reading that section of the manual. At the moment I'm still trying to figure out the HD radio as its supposed to pick it up automatically but doesn't seem to be getting the signal. Im getting one HD station now but i know there's more out there and I just have to tinker with it. You might have to dish out the extra dough for this unit but it is well worth it considering Cruthfield throws in the antenna adapter and dash kit for free and takes half off the wiring harness. Mastersheet instructions were a nice touch too.

Pros: Great sound quality Simple bluetooth pairing Sleek and classy design

Cons: Some difficulty getting HD radio signal but I'm sure I won't have any difficlulty once I'm familiar with the unit.

I wanted to ad a CD player to my 98 Expedition and also some little extras. WOW this unit does it all. The Bluetooth works flawlessly. My smart phone liked up almost by itself and worked great from the firs call. The HD radio is so much better than normal FM. The install was quick and easy with everything I needed right at hand. The most time was spent checking the wire harness connections against the ford diagrams (I am a bit paranoid about just hooking things up with the first sheet of paper I see but all the info was spot on. Crutchfield did a great job as usual even as far as supplying the amp adapter for Ford.

    Pros: Everything

Cons: Very small characters on the controls for us old guys to see.

Purchased this head unit after a couple of months of searching. Compared this unit to a Kenwood with similar features and the Alpine sounded much better than the Kenwood over the same speakers. The unit also went on sale so I knew it was time to buy it. Crutchfield sent everything that was needed for the install along with great instructions. It has taken some time to learn how to adjust the many settings but they are not difficult once you get used to them. The sound quality of the HD is great and I am also enjoying the blue tooth feature for making and receiving calls while driving. My only real complaint is that the manual did not mention many of the minor settings that are available with this head unit. They may be common for newer head units so many of you may already know how to work them. This is the first after market unit that I've purchased in 20 years so I had to go through a learning curve. I don't have a problem with the single line display nor with the fact that blue is the only display color since the display is easy for me to read and I can change it with the pressing of one button. I highly recommend this unit for anyone looking for an upgrade. I am sold on Alpine. I even compared a $99.00 Alpine unit to a $220.00 Kenwood unit at a local Best Buy and the Alpine still sounded much better than the Kenwood over the same speakers so I will stick to Alpine for the future.

Pros: Great unit with great sound and great features.

Cons: Owners manual didn't cover some of the minor features and adjustments for the unit.

Got this to replace Sony MEX-BT3800U unit I bought last year. This is paired with Polk db6501 and Alpine MRP-F240 Amp. As soon as I installed this and turned it on, Major Difference!! 1) Music quality much better! The Sony sounded muffled in mids and lows even when I adjust the levels. This Alpine, straight out of the box, much better sound already 2) Microphone much clearer. People on the other line can actually understand me now, and my car gets a lot of road noise. Noise cancelling works well. 3) Android Pandora compatible! I have the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and I can now control Pandora (or Android's music player) using the Alpine head unit instead of unlocking my phone. Cops can't pull me over for "touching" my phone Only Con: No automatic sound adjust when car/road gets louder All in all, I'l never buy a Sony head unit again. Even my old Pioneer DEH-8600MP (released in '04) sounds a lot better than the Sony deck.

Pros: Excellent sound quality Microphone Excellent Android Compatible

Cons: No Automatic Sound Level Adjust

Replacing a JCV head unit with very poor sound quality, I just bought a Honda S2000 and thats what was in it. I was very upset with the features and the sound quality coming from the unit. In my old car i had an Alpine Head unit and never went wrong. This unit has great features with Bluetooth Streaming and phone calls I have an iPhone and the pandora streaming works flawless with this head unit. Also when driving with the top down my phones are still crisp and clear. Alpine also has great accessories for their products like the heavy duty iPhone cord. I am very pleased with this head unit and would recommend Alpine to anyone looking for great sound control

Pros: Easy To Use Bluetooth Streaming Audio Ipod front connection

Replacing an aftermarket unit with very poor sound quality, this Alpine unleashed the potential of the existing speakers with clear sound and smooth transitions. Installation took about two hours, including the time required to rebuild the shifter mechanism uncovered when the center console was removed. The provided installation kit and instructions were "spot-on"; resulting in a factory-look. The Alpine has all the features I wanted without unnecessary complexity. The interface is clean and easily used without taking my eyes off the road. HD radio, iPhone connectivity, and Pandora all work great; as does the bluetooth connection that enables hands-free calling at a bargain price when coupled with all of the other features. This unit does all I ask of it and more. Highly recommended.

    Pros: Clear, clean sound; sensitive tuner; simple interface; multiple adjustments for features, tuning, and sound quality; bluetooth connection for iPhone, sound, and Pandora; separate microphone that can mounted in different locations for best voice quality; basic voice recognition for phone;

    Cons: None to date.

Came from an Alpine 9883 (which was still working perfectly) to add Bluetooth/HD/front port/etc. With included wire harness and bracket kit, it took about 20 minutes out of my lunch break to solder the wires and switch out my old stereo and start dialing in the new one. Obviously, it took a skimming over the manual to figure out how to change settings and get everything working. Connected to my Android Galaxy Nexus through bluetooth, synced up phone book etc and made a test call to my son. He said he could hear me perfectly and I was able to hear him clearly through the system. Voice commands were a little off however not sure if it is me, my phone, or the alpine causing miscommunication. For example "call adam" dialed my "home". One thing I do not really like is the display as it seems dated with only one line of text and limited characters. The unit itself is sharp looking, but the one line of large text cheapens it a little. I would have preferred at least two lines. The next model up has nicer display but does not include a cd player which I am not quite ready to give up yet. The other thing which I liked better about my older 9883, was that the ipod connected through the back of the unit and I was able to tuck it completely out of sight under the dash. This newer unit connects through the front USB port only and even though it maintains it's ipod controls through the stereo, I have a cord hanging out the front now. On the plus side, it accepts thumb drives.

Pros: Price Sounds great Good amount of tuning options Easy hookup and user friendly Bluetooth for hands free calling. HD radio stations sound better than standard fm Solid build quality Ipod controls and I can use a microSD card to usb adapter or 1/8" jack for several input options

Cons: Ipod only connects through front USB port Single line of text looks dated

I bought this unit to replace an old and failing Pioneer in my 2000 Ford F-350. Getting the Pioneer out was a challenge as the head unit removal keys provided were not compatible, regardless I was able to get it out by improvising. The replacement dash adapter kit provided by Crutchfield was nicer than what was already installed so I used it. Installation of the Alpine was easy until I got to the wiring harness. The harness provided only had one end terminated with an adapter, the other end was loose wires (surprise) so I had to spend about 45 minutes matching and crimping each wire by hand. It wasn't hard but took more time than I had anticipated needing to do the entire job. The installed Alpine looks great and sounds really great. I am still getting used to the controls but it is pretty easy to use and has nearly every feature one could expect. One last note, it does come with a hard plastic case for the faceplate which was not clear from the specs on the Alpine or Crutchfield website.

Pros: Easy to use controls, great LCD screen, great sound.

Cons: Would like the option to change LCD and control lighting from Blue to Amber, Red and Green.

Just got this in the mail today (4/5/12) from Crutchfield to replace a Sony CDX-GT700HD I bought last year (also from Crutchfield). The first thing I noticed was how much better the sound quality was "out of the box" with this Alpine unit. I did the installation myself. It took me about 2 hours to install and most of that was finding a way to route the Bluetooth microphone wire behind the dash and up the side pillar for a clean install. I am extremely impressed with this unit so far. The sound quality is just like every other Alpine I've ever owned - stunning. The Bluetooth hands-free phone feature works great. I've only made a few calls so far but everyone has said I sound crystal clear to them. I love the Bluetooth A2DP audio streaming and HD radio features. The best part for me is the fact this unit will work with my Android phone's Pandora app. It's very easy to navigate through the stations, thumb up/down, bookmarks songs, create new stations, etc. Almost every unit out there with the Pandora app feature strictly caters to the iPhone. It's nice I can use the on-screen Pandora display/functions with my Android. This is the 4th Alpine I've owned and there's a reason I keep coming back.. excellent quality, sound and value. I absolutely LOVE this unit!
