The KCA-121B auxiliary input adapter allows you to convert the Ai-Net changer port on your Alpine stereo into an audio auxiliary input. One end of the adapter connects to your changer port, and the other end gives you a pair of female RCA jacks. Once connected, you can select the AUX source on your stereo and utilize the Bass Engine® sound-shaping functions to personalize the playback. 1-year warranty.

The product is easy to install. The hardest part was just getting to the back of the stereo. Once I was able to do that, I plugged it in, enabled the auxiliary through the menu and selected the input and it was working.

Pros: You can play any phone with a standard headphone jack.

Cons: It does not charge your device.

Perfect adapter for cd changer to aux in conversion. Iphone and an rca to 1/8 splitter did the trick!

Pros: Great way to update the head unit as it does not come standard with an aux in. We were able to plug the iphone right into a rca to 1/8 slitter attached to this - Just what I needed.

Cons: None that I can think of

Works like a champ. Combined with my new Metra Mini-to-RCA Cable it Lets me play MP3's from my android cell phone straight through my head unit. It was a little confusing to set up since I could not find owner's manual but I fumbled through it. Can't believe I waited so long to buy it.

Pros: Lets you conect any RCA input into your older AI-Net equipped Alpine head unit

Cons: A little hard to configure head unit to play from auxiliary.

Unfortunately, this adapter works like a charm on my 5 year old CDA-9884. All I wanted to do is stream a little music from my iPhone once in a while and still keep my iPod connected as my main music source, and this was the simple cost effective solution. I had my eye on a new Alpine head unit, but what's the point now.

Pros: It works.

Cons: No justifiable reason to upgrade stereo.

helpful product for connectivity

Written by: Scott H from St. Louis on May 21, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works well. Gave it four stars only because it only comes in rca female jacks. I had to adapt it to a 1/8 inch female jack in order to play my music. Without an input on my alpine 9847, this adapter allowed me to continue using this deck. The deck does not recognize this input automatically. You have to go into the menu and activate the auxiliary input. Once completed, the aux input is available without having to go back into the menu going forward.

Pros: Inexpensive and allows me to connect my phone and iPod.

Cons: RCA jacks, needs cable to bring input to the front of the dash.

I had a KCA-420i iPod/iPhone adapter that was very cumbersome to use with my Alpine CDA-9833. The Apple interface is so much easier to navigate music/playlists than the Alpine headunit.

Used this with my Alpine CDA-9884. Works perfect. The head unit came with an iPod adapter that allows me to charge and control my iPod with the head unit itself. The KCA-121B also gives me the option (with an adapter cable) to control my iPod from the iPod itself (although it won't charge at the same time). Great when you have a passenger who wants to "drive" the music without trying to learn how to use the head unit. Works flawlessly.

AWESOME Cable

Written by: coolio1729 from Kentucky on November 28, 2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Alpine auxiliary input adapter cable is a 5-star purchase. My uses for it are twofold - cell phone and iPod. I decided to also purchase a 6 foot generic 3.5mm mini-stereo male to two RCA male speaker cable. I connected the female RCA ends of the auxiliary input adapter to the male RCAs of the speaker cable. Now, I use the 3.5mm male plug to connect to my cell phone or iPod.

I recently upgraded my cell phone to the new HTC Touch Pro. After downloading the latest audio/video podcast, I connected the phone to the 3.5mm male plug (through a separate HTC adapter) and bingo, all of the audio was broadcast through the stereo. This capability is killer and the sound is great!

I also use the 3.5mm plug to connect to my iPod shuffle. Again, the sound is great! Any audio device that has a headphone jack can be connected to the stereo with the auxiliary input adapter and additional cable that I mentioned above.

In sum, this auxiliary input adapter expands the capability of your Alpine radio. It was also easy to install.

After getting a Zune and wanting to play it through my car stereo I thought I was going to have to get a new receiver. Luckily though a rep at Crutchfield.com determined my current Alpine player had an aux port in the back and found the cables I needed to make it work. This part along with the PAC SNI-1 and Monster Mini Stereo - Dual RCA cables allows me to play my zune with no problems though my car. I was able to install it myself with the simple instructions that came with the shipment.

I just thought I should add this little note, I just learned myself, since this pink/black lead is really intendede to MUTE your stereo when getting a phonecall or something of this nature, your stereo is DEFAULT set to 'MUTE ON' in the menu, so you need to set this to OFF after that it works like a charm on my late 90's Alpine unit!! Check your manual how to do this!

Bottom line if you have an AINET input AND a PINK/BLACK lead you should be good to go!

I got this for my CDA-7894 in the hopes that it would save me from having to upgrade to a new head unit to support my iPod. Well, it works GREAT!!... After connecting everything up, all I had to do was go into the menu and active the Aux port. I also have a Belkin power adapter with an audio jack (w/ volume control) built in. All I have to do is hock the power adapter into the iPod and it's on! I suggest this for anyone who has an older Alpine head unit and want to connect their iPod or other Aux device. All that is required is a 2001+ Alpine with an Ai-net connection on the back (CDA series)...

Universal connection for your Alpine received

Written by: doru from Redmond, WA on January 21, 2006

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm using this with CDA-9847. I just went and bought wall mount audio RCA connectors ($2 each). I made two holes in the trim right above the cigarett lighter (I own a Camry 97) and mounted the RCA connectors. I route an RCA cable from the connectors to the Alpine KCA-121B and now I can connect any device that I want. The connectors are oriented downward at 45 degrees, so they are easy to access but not looking intrusive. Now I can connect my MP3 player and my notebook (for my kid in the back, to have good sound not only good picture).

Alpine Ainet to RCA

Written by: James from Rolla, Mo on December 12, 2005

I bought one of these for my CDA9851, and it was a breeze to install and set up. This cheap cable is the reason I bought the 9851, Sony wanted nearly $100 to hook up my laptop to an RCA connection, so wth my new car, I pulled my old sony receiver, and put it in a box. With Monster Cable RCA to mini jack connector, the sound quality is perfect. Another thing that impressed me, is you see what look like covers over the RCA connections in the picture, but they are actually boots to better insulate your connection.

Must have Versitile Link or this work-around if unit is pre-2001

Written by: David from Dublin, CA on November 30, 2005

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This part works as long as your reciever is 2001+. It did not work for me and I called alpine. It turns out that you need to have Versitile Link which is on the Ai-net products after 2001. I had a 1999 CDA-D852. The good news is that there is a work around using the audio interrupt lead (pink/black) on the wiring harness. Pass this lead through a switch and ground the other side. When this lead is grounded it tells the reciever to listen to the signal coming from the Ai-net connector. Once you have this hooked up you just flip the switch to listen to your aux. device.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After buying/using a FM Digital Transmitter for my Ipod, I was thinking I'd be set. I was with the auto charger feature but the radio part didn't statisfy me enough with static noise I was facing. I didn't know I could use such a cheap Alpine cable to use with my Ipod. I bought a Belkin RCA to Portable Audio cable to attach to the Ipod. So far I am using the cable with a 2001 Alpine CDA-7977 w/Ai-Net, I recommend this way versus the radio transmitter.

I bought this product to use for my ipod and the quality is outstanding. I would recommend combining this with the Monster iCable for iPod if you're really obsessed with quality. There is absolutely no static and the sound is crystal clear. Do not go cheap and save a couple of bucks, you will be very disappointed. You might as well spend the extra cash and get everything right the first time.

I bought this for my 2004 Alpine and it's awesome. I think even if you have a 2005, why get that expensive module? This took me 5 mins to hook up and it's the cheapest best way to hook up your ipod. Plus it takes forever to scroll the songs on the Alpine screen. Good buy! always from Alpine.

Don't Be Fooled

Written by: Frank from Roanoke, Va on April 16, 2005

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I first bought a off brand and was not satisfied with the fit or performance. One channel did not work. If you are thinking of going with a outside source instead of a Alpine part, just to save a buck or two, forget it. This piece worked perfectly. I use it for my Skyfi. One other tip. Use the best interconnects you can afford. It does make a differance in sound quality.

Works Like It's Supposed To

Written by: Curtis from Milwaukee, WI on March 21, 2005

I got this so I could hook up my iPod to my CDA-9883 and it works like a charm. The only thing I suggest is buying a high quality audio cable to use with whatever type of player you are hooking up. I went cheap and got a low quality cable. It sounds nice, except that at higher volume levels you hear a lot of white noise in between songs or during quiter parts of songs. That being said, there is no reason not to buy this, and I think it is a better solution for iPod users becasue you can use your iPod controls.

Customer Q&A

8 questions already asked

If your receiver is AI-NET compatible (which I believe the CDA-7832 is) then the KCA-121B will be compatible with your receiver. It will connect to the Ai-NET port on the rear of the receiver. The Ai-NET port is where you would typically connect an Alpine CD changer. Keep in mind that the KCA-121B is only for passing an aux. signal to the receiver. It will not allow you to control the aux. device from the receiver. Hope this helps you out [ Gurmel  Feb 09, 2016 ]
I'm using this, on my boat, with a iDA-100M marine head unit. It should work if your head unit has a cd changer input using the Ai-net port. Works great, I feed my auxiliary satellite receiver into it for Sirius radio underway. I have no need for CD's as I use an iPod touch to store music. Good luck! Mike [ Michael  Feb 09, 2016 ]
