Overview Details Customer Reviews Category Info Our take on the Alpine KCE-422i iPod cable by Tim Sprinkle Why would I need an iPod® adapter? An iPod adapter allows you to connect your iPod to your car stereo, then access your playlists with your stereo's controls - a great idea for several reasons. One, you can scroll through your song titles on your stereo's larger display, instead of squinting down at your iPod. Two, you can route the adapter cable to your glove compartment or center console, so your iPod stays safely out of sight. Three, the iPod adapter keeps your iPod fully charged, so it's ready to rock when you leave your car. And last of all, some adapters bypass your iPod's internal digital-to-analog converter, using your stereo's superior DAC to turn your files back into music. Want to listen to your iPod through your car audio system? If you have an Alpine stereo with "Full Speed" controls, all it takes is this KCE-422i connection cable there's no extra gear to install. With just one cable between your iPod and your stereo, you'll get super-fast data transfer and full playback control. Once connected, Alpine's Full Speed controls allow you to manage just about every playback function right from the radio's faceplate. QuickSearch makes it easy to find the music that you want jump between artists, albums, and playlists at the push of a button. You can even scroll through songs using the rotary control knob. Album, artist, and song information from your iPod will show up on the radio's display, too. On the sound front, you can use the Bass Engine tone controls on your Alpine stereo to coax the best possible performance out of your compressed music files. Alpine's Full Speed connection works with all dockable iPods and charges the iPod's battery while it's connected. Length: 6-1/2'. Warranty: 1 year. Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. Paired up with the Alpine 9856, I couldn't have expected anything better. This was the perfect solution for the woes of not wanting to constantly change CDs. Now I have 3500 songs at my fingertips! And when they say that this connection is fast. they mean FAST! I will admit, at first, I was a bit skeptical as to how fast this syncs the head unit to the iPod. After playing with an iPod setup of a different manufacturer in a friend's Navigator, I wasn't really impressed with the integration of iPods to automobile head units. Since I had prior experience with Alpine, a couple extra bucks to blow off on the CDA-9856, a strong desire to use the iPod in the car, and a need to establish a relationship with crutchfield.com, I decided to team up the iPod connector with a new head unit. Pleasantly, I was surprised to find that the alpine setup really is 100x faster (I can scroll and search thru my playlists, song names, etc. without having to worry about taking my eyes off the road). If you're looking to integrate the iPod with your vehicle and either have, or are thinking of buying, an Alpine iPod connector ready head unit... this IS what you want. I'll tell ya, when it comes to getting the iPod to work fluidly with the car head unit, this will not disappoint you. 9 out of 9 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
